Riley & Madeline's Birthday at the Zoo

"In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines"

Madeline saved the first caterpillar.

Riley saved the baby caterpillar, Maddie's the last one to door.

"Lived thirteen little girls in two straight lines"

Madeline and Riley slid down the stairs.

Riley said "It was tired" as they let the two caterpillars go.

"They left the house at half past nine"

Miss Clavel said "Allonez little girls, hurry!"

"In two straight lines in rain or shine"

Nicole drop two coins into two cups of monkeys, Keven and Coco.

"Before dancing with both monkeys, the smallest one was Madeline, and the oldest one was Riley"

Riley Giggles

They were not afraid of mice.

Madeline said "Riley it seems like Miss Clavel, and the girls are up to something"

Riley said "What made you think that Maddie?"

Madeline said "They think about us Riley, they are talking about something. Until we are close by, they stopped Miss Clavel, and send us too off to do something else"

Riley said "True but our seventh birthday is a few days, you think Aunt Kathy had forgot?"

Madeline said "Never, Aunt Kathy never does. She is usually here days before our birthday!"

Riley said "You are right Maddie"

They loved Winter, snow, and ice. One fine morning without a peep from the bedroom, the girls did creep.

Chloe said "Silence!"

Danielle said "Silence!"

Nicole said "Silence!"

On Riley and Madeline's birthday, they let them sleep.

Kathy said "Where are Riley and Madeline, still asleep?"

Miss Clavel said "Yes they were just talking about you a few days ago Kathy"

Kathy said "Well they will love the present I got for them"

Eleven girls and Miss Clavel "We love our bread, we love our butter, but most of all we love each other"

Kathy said "Shh shh, I got the Ice cream in the freezer"

Miss Clavel said "Ecoutez little girls, I talked to Kathy, and we are giving our Riley and Madeline a surprise party at 3'o clock!"

All eleven girls shouted "Hooray, a birthday party! Shh!"

Everyone would be there even the mouse, but they had to get Riley and Madeline out of the house.

Danielle said "But how? I know, we will give them a big balloon!"

Lulu said "No"

Chloe said "We will play hide and seek, and never find them"

Yvette said "No, they will start to play another game"

Nicole said "I know, we will send them on a very very long Taxi ride"

Simone said "No, they will be having too much fun before the party starts"

They thought, and thought a little more.

All the girls said "Mmm mm"

Till they hear a knock upon the door.

Meanwhile Upstairs

Riley opened her eyes "Lulu time to awake hmm- Uh oh something tells me we are late"

Madeline said "No not really Riley, look what is Aunt Kathy's car doing parked on the street?"

Riley said "Madeline today is our 7th birthday, come on we have to get ready!"

Back down stairs

Miss Clavel open the door, and in walk in Steven, Pepito, and the Spanish ambassador.

Dan said "Buenos dias Miss Clavel"

Steven said "Buenos Dias girls!"

Pepito said "For Riley and Madeline's birthday, our father and us would like to take them to the zoo!"

All eleven girls said "Hooray the Zoo!"

Miss Clavel said "The little girls can't go Pepito, but if you like, you both may take Riley and Madeline!"

Now the girls knew what to do while Riley and Madeline was at the Zoo.

All the girls said "What a wonderful idea Miss Clavel!"

As Riley and Madeline slid down the stairs

Riley said "What a wonderful idea"

Madeline said "Oui, but what is going on?"

All the girls said "Oh uh nothing, Happy Birthday Riley and Madeline!"

Dan, Steven and Pepito said "Si, Happy Birthday!"

Madeline said "Merci, I hope this is a birthday I will never forget, we will have a party?"

Riley said "I hope I won't forget Maddie"

Miss Clavel said "J'regret I am sorry Riley and Madeline, but that is impossible but it is for a good reason"

All the girls said "Oui"

Riley said "What reason is that Miss Clavel?"

Miss Clavel said "Well it is because uh because, ah excuse moi that could be the reason now! Hello? Ah Oui monsieur, très bien, au revoir! Mes enfants it is because Lord Cucuface is coming with the Board of Trustees, everyone must stay home and clean the house alright?"

Riley said "That is alright, sigh we will have another birthday next year"

Madeline said "Oui Riley is right"

Miss Clavel said "Do not be silly Riley and Madeline, you both will have a special day at the zoo! Steven, Pepito, and their father will take your both"

Riley said "Huh, but what about the cleaning Miss Clavel?"

Madeline said "Who cares, really Miss Clavel?"

Miss Clavel said "Really"

Riley said "Hooray we love the Zoo!"

When Steven and Pepito give Riley, and Madeline two boxes each tall, inside it they found two new parasols.

Madeline said "It is my favorite color, yellow!"

Riley said "Look, I have mine in blue!"

Oh Steven and Pepito were thoughtful fellows.

As Riley and Madeline give each boys a kiss on the cheek.

Steven and Pepito blush red as the girls giggle.

Miss Clavel said "Have a good time, and you must be home by 5 to 3, that is when Lord Cucuface is arriving"

Riley said "We will Miss Clavel, I promise"

All the girls said "Au revoir!" Laughing

Without much fuss or much ado, the Ambassador led them to the zoo.

Dan said "I will wait here, I have mucho trabajo a lot of work while you four are visiting the Zoo, remember to be back around four"

Said the Spanish Ambassador

"Madeline look at Riley!"

Madeline said "That cannot be, we must be home by 3 to 5!"

Steven winked at his father

Dan said "You are right I forgot, si si now stay together, and no wondering off, understood?"

Riley said "Yes sir bye! Boy Madeline what a rip off that Lord Cucuface coming by the Old House today, of all days! What next, Aunt Kathy coming back from the shop?"

So Steven, Riley, Pepito and Madeline strolled all around, seeing lions and penguins, then bobos green and brown"

Madeline said "Regardé Riley!"

Gerard said "Bonjour Madeline, Bonjour Riley"

Madeline said "Bonjour Gerard, Bonjour Coco"

Riley said "Bonjour Kevin, guess what today it is? Mine and Madeline's birthday!"

Gerard said "Then we will do something special!"

Then the organ grinder, and his two monkeys Coco, and Kevin have a chance to delight Madeline, and Riley with a birthday dance.

Madeline said "Gerard we never see you at the Zoo before"

Steven said "Well you look at the time, come Riley and Madeline Pepito! We will catch up, goodbye!"

Pepito said "Gerard, was that you that call early?"

Gerard said "Yes, I had call to see what time to be at the old House, but it seemed like Miss Clavel couldn't talk, was Riley and Madeline around?"

Pepito said "Well yes"

Gerrade said "Thought so, all Miss Clavel told me was to meet them at the zoo"

Pepito said "Be at the old house around 3 pm, goodbye!"

The Tiger growled with much ado, but Madeline just said "Pooh Pooh"

The Monkey chattered "Woo whoo"

Madeline twirled her yellow umbrella

Riley said "Silly monkey" as she kept her blue umbrella out of reach.

And the littlest one climbed up a tree

Steven, Riley, Madeline and Pepito said "Bonjour!"

Zookeeper said "Bonjour"

Madeline said "Monsieur Zookeeper, guess what today is? Mine and my sister's birthday!"

Zookeeper said "Ah très bien mes pepites, happy birthday to you both!"

Then the monkey slipped out, and that is not all.

Madeline said "Oh no, you bad bad monkey!"

The rascal grabbed Madeline's new parasol.

All four said "Come back you naughty monkey, come back!"

They chased that bad monkey all over the zoo, past zebras and bears, and a tall Kangaroo.

Steven said "Maybe we should ask the Zookeeper to help us"

Riley said "Madeline what the matter, that was just a five miles run!"

Madeline said "I am fine now come on, but he is eating lunch! Besides, it is all my fault that the monkey got out, it was because I said it was mine and Riley's birthday"

Riley said "No Maddie it is not your fault" as they duck, the monkey jumped down after him.

Pepito said "Steven, how did a simple Zoo trip turn into chase the monkey?"

Steven said "Beats me, but if I keep Riley and Madeline from asking questions, I am all for it!"

They chased him past elephant, hippo and swan, but before they could catch him, the monkey was gone!

When it seemed that the monkey would have escaped them forever, Madeline knew it was time to be clever.

Madeline said "Riley how many euros did you bring with you?"

Riley said "Just cinq dollars, why?"

Madeline said "Great I will pay you back when we get home, come Pepito, Steven and Riley we will outwit the monkey!"

Steven said "How?"

She and Riley brought two big balloons, red and blue.

Riley said "Merci Monsieur Balloon man!"

Steven said "Two balloons, ay ay ay ay ay!"

Madeline said "We need bait. Steven, you and Riley walk ahead. Alright, me and Pepito will be behind you two"

Riley said "Get it Maddie, come Steven!"

Hoping the monkey would want it and soon.

Monkey saw two balloons and went after Riley and Steven.

Madeline said "Yes it is working! Come on, we need to make a stop!" as she tied the balloon to the door, and knocked "Come, Riley would be so surprised Pepito!"

Pepito said "I hope you are right Madeline"

As they catch up to their older siblings

Madeline said "Keep going Riley, the monkey is catching up, huh uh oh"

But much to Riley and Madeline's dismay, there was nothing she could do or say as the monkey grabbed the balloon, and ran away.

Steven said "Pepito help me push the door open"

Peptio said "Steven, we are running a little bit late, it's already 1:58 pm!"

Steven said "Shoot, we have to get this monkey back fast"

Riley said "Merci Steven and Pepito!"

Madeline said "Where did the monkey go?"

Riley said "Hmm I don't know"

Pepito closed the cage

Madeline giggled a little

Then the monkey set all of the animals free.

Madeline said "This is my fault, it's all because of us"

Riley said "Maddie, I never should have gotten mad earlier, I am sorry sis"

And she, and Riley had to be home by five minutes to three.

Riley said "Why is the zookeeper still eating lunch? That's good at least"

Madeline said "Yes but Riley, Steven, and Pepito, we must get all the animals back before the zookeeper finds out, oh what should we do?"

Riley said "We will think of something Maddie I hope, oh no it is already a quarter pass 2, this is the worst birthday of our whole lifes!"

In the old house, the little girls took great care of getting everything ready before Riley and Madeline get there.

Miss Clavel said "Oh la la, it is already 10 to 3 ah hurry mes petites, hurry everyone! Riley and Madeline will be here in five minutes!"

Danielle said "Oui, but Madeline's face is hard to do"

Madeline and Pepito, Steven and Riley started to worry, they had to alert Miss Clavel in a hurry.

Pepito said "Madeline, we will never make it back in five minutes!"

Madeline said "Oh Pepito you are right, what can we do?"

Riley said "Regardé, look boys!"

Steven said "Our father!"

Madeline said "Asleep, that is he working? Really?"

"Jividen quick, get Madeline's hat from the elephant's head, and give it back to her"

Madeline said "That's it, Kevin and Coco will help us!"

Riley said "I think their father won't mind, Steven bend over and hold still please"

So Riley wrote to Miss Clavel, and said not to worry, that everything was quite well.

Madeline said "Good luck!"

At the old house, Miss Clavel looked up to see that it was already a quarter passed 3.

Miss Clavel said "Where oh where can our Riley and Madeline be? Ah that be Riley and Madeline now go hide, and when I open the door, everyone jump up and yell surprise!"

All the girls said "Oui Miss Clavel!"

Then the monkey Kevin arrived.

All the girls shouted "Surprise!"

With a note to be read, Miss Clavel grab it quick and found that it says.

"Miss Clavel, We are sorry to keep Lord Cucuface waiting, go on and have lunch with him because we are very busy at the Zoo right now; Don't worry Miss Clavel, we are Safe and sound. We well try to be home soon.

Love Riley and Madeline"

Miss Clavel said "Oh dear"

All the girls said "Very busy at the Zoo?"

Chloe said "What could that mean?"

Miss Clavel said "We will find out, but I am sure it is nothing too bad"

Back at the Zoo things weren't improving, Riley, Steven, Madeline and Pepito had to get moving.

Zookeeper said "Huh? Oh Miss Clavel what a surprise, don't worry they are safe, I've been keeping an eye on the kids, they are sweet hearts; Now if you would like to set the party here, you can, they well be busy for awhile anyways"

Miss Clavel said "Merci, that would be great! Kathy head back to the House, and call the guests; There has a been a change of plans, and get the presents please, and mes enfants come, we have to get things set up"

All eleven girls said "Oui Miss Clavel"

Zookeeper said "Great, I will just put the juice in the refrigerator to keep it cold then"

Riley said "I don't think this is working"

Elephant splashed water on the two kids

Steven said "Me either"

Madeline said "I know, Riley let me see your purse come on, we would give the animals a good reason to go back in their cages, what an elephant favors is a peanut!"

Riley said "Madeline come on out of there, I need to close the door. Good thinking sis!"

Pepito said "And gorillas love bananas!"

Steven locked the cage "Done"

Riley said "Together Maddie"

Madeline said "You know it Riley" as they rang the big bells, the birds flew out.

Riley said "We make a good team sis"

Madeline said "Yes we do, come we have more work to do before the Zookeeper finds out what happened"

So they found what made each of the animals smile.

Riley said "Fresh leaves are a tasty snack for Rhinos!"

They get them all back in very short while.

Madeline closed the door

Steven giggled "Regardé the blue balloon, and some gooey candy would make this monkey very happy!"

Madeline gives the pink candy to the monkey as Steven and Riley closed the door.

As they close the last door and locked the last lock, they hear a bell chime, it was now five o clock.

Riley said "Oh Steven, I am sure Miss Clavel is wondering where we are at?"

Madeline said "Yes, we will never hear the end of it from Lord Cucuface now"

Pepito heard laughing "Ah Steven, take a peek and smile!"

Steven said "Riley, Madeline I am sure Lord Cucuface will understand what happend"

Pepito said "In the meantime, something tells me that Miss Clavel isn't worried, turn around and see for yourself!"

Riley and Madeline looked around "Wait pink ribbons!"

Everyone shouted "Surprise!"

But all Riley and Madeline could do was stare, it was a real party with all of their friends and Aunt there.

Everyone said "Happy Birthday Riley and Madeline!"

Miss Clavel said "Now make a wish girls!"

Riley said "I wish we could have a party like this year please!"

Madeline said "and I wish we could see more of aunt Kathy too"

They blow out the candles, and everyone cheered.

Miss Clavel said "Now both their wishes will be granted"

Poor Miss Clavel feared.

Kathy said "They want to see more of me, I can't let that happen"

Madeline said "This is one birthday I will never forget"

Riley said "I hope not Maddie"

Steven said "Vit Madeline huh?"

As the girls giggles

Riley said "Madeline look makeup!"

Madeline said "Cool, we can dress up anytime we want, oh pretty necklace!"

Riley said "Cool, let me wear it Madeline!"

Madeline said "No I am wearing it, I saw it first!"

Kathry said "Girls please, this necklace isn't until you are both are much older to take turns wearing it! Please hold on to it Miss Clavel along w-"

Riley said "Who is this man holding this "It comes out of Mommy" book?"

Madeline said "Cool Aunt Kathy, who is this man anyways?"

Kathy said "Girls, this book is for when you are 15 years old, Miss Clavel please hold on to this book"

Miss Clavel took the book without a word being said.

Then they hear the Lion roar.

The girls laugh

and that's all there is, there isn't anymore.
