Chapter One: The First Half of a Journey Begins
A few months had past now. Mitsuru kept her word to set everything up for Minato to join SEES. One scholarship to Gekkoukan paid with Kirijo funds has well has a room in the dorm paid for by the Nanjo group. Naoto and the rest of the Shirogane family walked with the Arisato twins to the train station. Megumi was the first to speak to the twins. "Minako do your best to end the dark hour and make sure to help your brother adjust to life back in Iwatodia. Minato… I know this is the sudden but with the Yasogami schools being a big place for rumors I think this is for the best. We'll come and visit soon, okay?" Megumi smiled at her nephew.
"Thanks aunt Megumi. Well see you soon." Smiled Minato, to be honest he liked Inaba, but rumors were spread far too easily here and with his… history out in the open it made him feel… uncomfortable. At least in Iwatodia it would be harder to for it to be made public even if the school was somewhat septic to outlandish rumors but at the least not to the extent has Yasogami was. And the new Headmaster was working to make sure students understood why rumors shouldn't be spread carelessly.
Toshiyuki smiled at the twins and ruffled Minako's hair. "You two will be just fine… Minako already has a lot of friends at the dorm, and I know you were assigned to the same one. You'll make though these next two years trust me."
"Next train bond for Iwatodai is now boarding at station 4" An announcer called out, "I repeat the train bond for Iwatodai is now boarding at station 4" Naoto smiled at her cousins and said her farewell. The twins got on to the train and headed out for Iwatodai.
"So Minako… what's it like living at the dorm?" Minato asked his sister after the train took off. Minako gave her answer a lot of thought before giving her answer. Once she was sure she gave her answer.
"It's lovely." Minako replied, Minato gave her an unsatisfied look before she elaborated. "It's like a second home to me. The others who live there are nice and come from all sorts of backgrounds. It's really peaceful." She finished.
"I see… What can you tell me about our dormmates themselves?" Asked the young teen. Minako thought about her teammates for a moment before answering.
"Well to start there's the dorm manager Satomi-san. She's really nice and she cares a lot about all of us. She treats us like her own children despite having some of her own. She's always willing to help us with homework if we need it too. Her husband Haruto-san help us sometimes to… He's really kind to everyone in the dorm and helps with the dorm upkeep. They actually have to kids who are twins like us! Their names are Souji and Sora." Smiled Minako.
"Huh that's nice to know. What are they like?" Minato asked his sister softly. He had never met another set of twins aside from himself and his sister.
"Souji is the older one by 4 minutes and Sora is the younger one. Souji is quite but cares a lot about the others. He can make people laugh sometimes without meaning to… He's really other unless they mess with Sora. They like making origami cranes together sometimes. I went to middle school with them for a year. Their cousin Akihiko-senpai is actually a resident to he's Shinjiro's childhood friend the twins adopted brother." Minako pointed out.
"Interesting, who else is there?" Minato asked his sibling with an interested look on his face. Minako thought for a moment.
"Theirs Mitsuru-Senpai. She's the hair to the Kirijo fortune. She's cold has ice at first but she's actually very kind when you get to know her. She's the club leader. She awakened her persona at 8 years old. Can you believe that Minato-Nii?"
"Persona… that still sounds familiar to me for some reason beyond what the new world order. Wait Isn't the Kirijo group that gave us this scholarship?" Minato asked in confirmation.
Minako nodded before continuing. "There's also Akihiko-Senpai who is actually dating Mitsuru-Senpai. He's… a bit thick headed always about the protein but he always comes though when it counts. Then there's the Suou cousins their names are Ken and Goro. Their biological cousins that just that just so happened to have been adopted by two brothers." This just made Minato confused. At this Minako explained how Ken's mother was killed in an accident and he was adopted by Tatsuya and how Goro was adopted by Tatsuya's brother and that they didn't know they were cousins until a few weeks after Ken moved in." Minako explained to her brother.
"I see… Is there anyone else?" Minato asked softly.
"Well… there's a lot of adults but they've been missing for a while. We think it's the New World Order. But we don't have any proof." Minako smiled at her brother to hide a frown. But Minato could tell she was worried. Soon enough she had fallen asleep.
"Attention Passengers. There has been a malfunction of our train's system. Please be patient has we resolve the issues." The driver called over the intercom.
"Shit… oh well. I guess were just gonna have to settle for being late then." Minato thought to himself has Minako steered for a moment.
"Minato-nii… are we there yet…" Minako slurred. She was still tried has far has Minato could tell.
"No Minako. The train just had a malfunction. Go back to sleep for now. Your still tired." Minato smiled down at his sister who happily obliges but not before sending a text that told Mitsuru that they would be late.
When they approached Iwatodai Minato noted the time. Five minutes to midnight, which meant the dark hour was about to start. "Nako time to wake up."
"Five more minutes Nato-Nii." Slurred Minako. Minato just smiled and told her the dark hour was about to start. Minako was immediately awake and reached for something in her bag. It looked like a scalable.
The dark hour started, and Minato immediately went tense. Minako revied the items she had pulled out was a portable spear. "We should get to the dorm Minato-Nii. Let me lead the way." Minako suggested to which her brother agreed.
They soon arrived at the dorm. "So is the dorm you told me about… Seems safe enough." Minato commented before heading inside were they found a young boy who Minako never saw before.
"Who are you? Are you new here?" Minako asked the young boy. He just ignored them.
"Your late." He started softly "I've been waiting a long time for you" He then snaped his fingers and a book appeared. Now if you want to proceed, please sign your name there. Don't worry it only make you take responsibility for your own actions" The boy finished.
Minako looked over the contract carefully with her brother. Something their parents taught them at a young age was that it was imperative to look over every contract carefully. Minako deemed it safe to sign thinking it was something new the dorm put in. Minato followed his sister just in case something happened.
"Time never waits..." He started, "It delivers us all to the same end. You can't plug your ears and cover your eyes." Was all he said before taking his leave.
"Who there?!" A female voice called out. The Arisato twins turned to see a girl in a pink cardigan. Minako recognized the girl. Her name was Yukari Takeba.
"Yukari?! What are you doing here? Wait…" Minako to a closer look at her friend that was a junior like her. "You have an evoker and you're wearing the SEES arm band. You have the potential too has well!"
"That's right." A new voice started form the stair well. "Good evening Minako I did not expect you and your brother to arrive so late. You said that it due to a train malfunction?"
"Hi Mitsuru! Yeah, that's right our train malfunctioned." Minako smiled at her senpai. Minato looked at the two girls with interest then suddenly felt some sort of pales. He didn't know what it was, but Mitsuru just nodded.
"I see… Ah, my apologize I just remembered that forgot to mention them to you Takeba. This is Minako Arisato and her brother. Minako's been a member of our group for quite some time now. While her brother has been wanting to join us for a while now after finding out from his sister about us." Mitsuru informed the junior.
"I've met Minako before, but I didn't know that she lived here." Yukari nodded then looked at Minato. "Um… have we met?" Yukari questioned.
Minato thought for a moment. "I think so… But I can't remember when." Minato replied.
"That's quite odd. I felt the same way when I first met you Minako but now I feel the same way with you Arisato." Mitsuru frowned in thought.
"I don't know why but I feel that I've met you somewhere before too. Mitsuru Kirijo, right? Have we met?" Minato asked the senior with a frown. Mitsuru had a similar frown on her face has if she was trying to remember.
"I think we have… But I cannot remember for the life of me where that might have been. What of you Takeba?" Mitsuru asked the Junior in the pink cardigan.
"No… I can't. This is very strange. I wonder why we all feel like this?" Yukari answered after a moment of thought on the question.
"At any rate I'm sure we'll remember in time. For now, it's late and we have school tomorrow. Takeba, I trust you to show Arisato to his room it's on the second floor at the end of the hall your things should already be there. Minako your room is the same has before." Mitsuru ordered.
Yukari led Minato to his room. It was on the second floor at the end of the hallway. "This is it, pretty easy to remember uh? Since it's right at the end of the hall. Oh, yeah make sure you don't lose your key, or you'll never hear the end of it. So, any questions?"
"Only one. Is there a contract that all new residence have to sign? Me and Minako had to sign one when we got here." Minato asked the Junior. Yukari gave him a confused frown.
"No… we didn't. Anyway, I better head off to bed. See you in the mourning." Yukari said has she headed off to bed. Minato entered the room and found that just has Mitsuru had said his things were already in the room waiting for him to unpack in the mourning. He unpacked just a few things before making his way to Minako's room having been told where it was earlier in the day. Each of the rooms had name plates decorated somehow. Minako's had pink music notes and bold lettering on it.
Minako opened the door and saw her brother. She smiled and allowed him in. The room was mostly what you would expect. A lot like her twins with a slightly more feminine taste to it. It Minato sat on the bed with Minako.
"So, Noto what do you think of the dorm so far?" Minako asked their sibling. Minato shrugged and smiled.
"It's not too bad. They already had most of my stuff unpacked in the right places and my room is in a spot that's easy to remember. I keep sensing something strange about this place though." Minato answered.
Minako nodded when she realized what it was. "It's probably the dorm room cameras. They keep one in their for each room for our safety. It actually works during the dark hour."
"Wait are you serious? The facility didn't have that they just had grades stay in the room with us when the dark hour was active. The one that was with month before my escape was nice though. He actually would hold a friendly conversation or on nights when one wasn't up to talking, he would just read a book." Minato smiled.
"I see well, it's good to see your settling in alright…" Minako smiled at her brother softly. They talked for a few moments about life in the dorm and about what their school was going to be like.
After a while Minato returned to his room and went to bed. He fell asleep right away. The next morning, he woke up to the sound of a bell and a young boy calling out that breakfast was ready.
There was a knock on his door when Minato was about to open it. He opened the door to see a sliver haired boy not too much younger than himself. "Hey! My name is Narukami Souji! Mom said to come and get you to make sure that you could find your way to the dining room." The young boy said leading him to the dining room.
There were a three teenagers that Minato knew he hadn't met yet. One was a Sliver Haired boy that was only a year above him and the second was a boy with that had long brown hair and a black beanie. The third was a sliver haired girl who was helping to set the table. There were also four children there one Minato assumed was a part of the group that Minako mentioned. Two brown haired kids with one lighter than the other. The other two were only a year younger than the other pair and had black hair.
"Oh, good morning! You must be Minato Arisato. Minako's brother, right?" A woman with long silver hair smiled at him. Minato nodded while continuing to look over the scene.
"Yeah, that me. And you are?" Minato answered looking over the woman for any sign of intention to do harm.
"I'm Narukami Satomi, your dorm manager. It's nice to meet you Minato. Welcome to your new secondary home. I hope you like it here so far." Satomi smiled at the boy.
"Nice to meet you Mrs. Narukami. Yeah, it's alright for now. Still haven't formed a full opinion on life here yet." Minato commented with a shrug.
"That's a good thing. It means you want to have the facts before making an opinion. That can come in handy when in battle you know. Not to mention when it comes to school has well." Satomi smiled at the boy. "Breakfast will be severed in a moment. Before that let's get you introduced to the rest of the dorm, okay?"
"All right miss Narukami." Minato said with a smile. He looked around the room has everyone took a seat at the table. They all seemed to treat each other like family almost. Just as they were about to start eating a bell rang out. Minato who had taken a next to his sister looked at the head of the table to see the Satomi was the one who rang it.
"Good morning everyone. I know your eager to start breakfast, but we have an important announcement before we start eating. Well, two technically but I'm sure most you know that Minako is back. But she's as bought a new resident with her! His name is Minato Arisato, and he is her twin brother." She smiled at the children of the dorm.
"Hi…" Was all Minato said to the dorm. He took a moment to look around the room to gauge the people around him. Next to him was the one person he knew. Across from him was a boy who was about his age with white hair and blue eyes.
"Good morning, I'm Narukami Sora and I'm a third-year middle school student." The sliver haired twin smiled.
"Yo, I'm Sanada Akihiko, nice meeting ya." The older sliver haired boy smiled.
"Aragaki Sinjiro, I'm this guy's adopted cousin." The brown-haired beanie teen stated.
"The names Amada Ken, I'm in elementary school. Nice to meet you." Said the darker of the brown-haired child. His lighter haired friend went next.
"Akechi Goro, I'm his cousin both adopted and biologically." He smiled happily at his cousin after his introduction.
"I'm Nanjo Akira and this is my sister Nanjo Akiza. Were staying here while our parents are away on a business trip." One of the black-haired twins explained. After that everyone ate their breakfast and began heading out to school.
