Leo never told Raphael or anybody else about that night. Neither did May. They shared an understanding, now.
The next morning when Donnie woke up, May relinquished the note. Perhaps there was a clue he could find that she had missed. After all, he was smarter than her. Unfortunately, he couldn't find anything either, and after hours scouring the necklace, declared it safe.
"You're not gonna wear it, are you?" Raphael asked, when May had it back and was turning it over in her hands.
"Well... it is pretty, but the guys still freaks me out. I'm not wearing this thing, but maybe we should hold onto it. Maybe it's a clue, or important." May reasoned, returning the necklace to the box with the note.
Leo walked into the room frowning. "Has anybody heard from April and Casey lately? I couldn't get ahold of them last night or this morning."
May shrugged, unconcerned. Her growing trust and even affection for the turtles hadn't changed her relationship with her parents. If anything, the fact that they had gone to the old farmhouse and left her in New York pushed the wedge between the family even deeper.
At least, that was how she felt, until the evening news was once again talking about a burning building. A very familiar burning building-
"The farmhouse... no, no, no..." May gasped, hand over her mouth.
"... police are connecting this arson attack with the apartment building that was recently burnt in a similar manner. This attack however, has included at least one murder, and possibly a kidnapping." The news anchor continued.
May sat in frozen shock as the screen showed her and her parents faces. "The body found in the burning building has been positively identified as Casey Jones. April and May Jones's whereabouts are still unknown, but police have cadaver dogs searching the property at this moment. At this time, the fire is suspected to be arson. Because of the teenager's criminal record, she remains the primary suspect in her father's murder and arson. Police have revealed that Casey Jones was killed before the fire started. He is believed to have been stabbed violently. We will be keeping you updated as this tragic story unfolds."
"They... they're blaming me?!" May squeaked, unable to stomach everything she had just heard. She bolted for the bathroom, locking the door and throwing up in the toilet, then curling up on the bathroom floor, unable to hold back her tears. The Purple Dragons had done this... they had killed her father... maybe even her mother... and the police were blaming her?!
She growled to herself. This was the final straw. She was getting even. They had spilled blood first. This time it was her turn. To hell with Donnie, Leo, Mikey... To hell with Raphael. Now this was personal.
That night, as everybody else was asleep, even Leo (May had made sure to double check), she took the purple box and stood on the roof of an office building, opening the note to read it again.
"The pile of ash that was once a building... The farmhouse."
It had to be... but the farmhouse was miles away. She knew how to get there without a doubt, but she had no vehicle. Stealing one would be risky, and the cops were already hunting her.
Donnie had a garbage truck... and its not like the turtles could snitch on her even if they wanted to... however, the whole secret mission idea would be thrown out the window. Whether or not they ever trusted her again would be a toss-up. They were old friends of her parents... maybe they would understand?
It didn't matter now. May needed that truck.
