PART 2
Ch. 25- Harry Potter and the last parent
I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO HARRY POTTER
Harry Potter was famous in his world, but what the world did not know was that he would trade it all to have his family back. To not have everything taken from him. Was life so unfair that bad things just continued to follow him around? Wasn't it tragic enough that his parents died to save him? Wasn't it unjust that once his parents were gone, his god father was unjustly taken to Azkaban to serve for a crime he did not commit? Was it just life when we were sent to live with the Dursley's and they treated him so poorly, simply because of what we were born to be? As if all that were not enough, as if he had not experienced enough loss and unfairness and pain to last him a lifetime, now Voldemort wanted to take the last parent he had left? Where was the balance? If there was a price to pay, hadn't he paid it yet?
Harry stared up at the ceiling in the great hall, his eyes filled with tears, and he could feel someone's hands on him, lifting him from where he sat.
"Harry?" He heard Hermione call out.
"Back to your seat, Miss." A man's raspy voice called out. "Mr. Potter, are you alright?" The man asked.
"I'm finished." Harry heard himself say.
"Are you quite sure? Perhaps you'd like to look over your answers." The man suggested.
"No, no, I'm finished." Harry ran from the Great Hall, his head swirling, the images were still coming to him. Sirius in a room. Voldemort standing over him. Harry slammed his hands against the wall. He had to warn the Order, but who could he tell. Dumbledore was gone. Professor McGonagall was a member of the order. Harry pushed through the pain and ran up the steps towards the Hospital wing, but when he entered, he nearly collapsed. Madam Pomfrey ran to him.
"Potter, what's happened? Are you alright?" She asked. He pushed her hands away from him.
"I'm fine. I need to see Professor McGonagall." He spoke.
"Professor McGonagall? She's been sent to Saint Mongo's dear; her injuries were too extensive." She said to him, and his face crumbled. "Why don't you have a lie down and let me take a look at you." Harry stood up and continued to push her helping hands away.
"I'm fine." He ran from the room again. Harry's head throbbed with every step. He was in danger of collapsing again. He headed further towards the stairs when someone held him up and behind a Pillar.
"Harry?" Rose asked. "Are you alright?" She was still holding him up.
"No. I need to find my- "Harry began saying, when he spotted Ron, Hermione, Neville, Luna, and Ginny rushing towards him. Rose moved to allow Ron to lead Harry away.
"What did you do to him?" Ginny shouted accusingly.
"Nothing." Rose spoke bitterly. As soon as they took him away, Rose ran in the other direction.
"Harry!" Hermione spoke. "You look awful! What's happened?" She asked him, as Ron sat him at a nearby bench.
"What did you see, mate?" Ron said and Hermione looked at him.
"You're not supposed to let - "Hermione began but Harry waved his hand.
"He's got Sirius." He said and Ginny, Hermione, and Ron gasped. Luna and Neville looked confused.
"Sirius Black?" Neville asked.
"I have to save him." Harry tried to stand.
"Harry, wait." Hermione pulled him back to his seat. "What if- "She hesitated, and Harry groaned.
"We don't have time for this!" Harry complained.
"Just listen." Ginny told him.
"What if Voldemort- "She struggled with the name. "What if he wanted you to see that? To lure you out of Hogwarts." She told him.
"You have been known to save a life or two." Ron added.
"What if it's not a lie? Am I supposed to wait here to hear that I've lost someone else?" He asked angered now.
"Of course not, but maybe we should check in on him first, before mounting a full rescue mission." Hermione told him.
"He's the only parent I have left, I can't waste any time waiting around for a letter." He told Hermione. She shook her head.
"The Fire." Ginny suggested and Hermione shook her head.
"They've all been disconnected, haven't they?" Ron asked.
"That's what Umbridge said." Luna spoke up.
"Not hers." Harry reminded. "It's how she's been speaking to the minister of magic directly. Brilliant." Harry started towards her office. Everyone ran after him.
"Wait, you want to break in right now?" Hermione asked.
"I told you Hermione, I'm not waiting around. If you want proof that he's in danger, then let's go get the proof, now. I'm not waiting around." He told them.
"Fine, but we have to be smart about this." Hermione told him.
"Yeah, we need a plan." Ron asked.
"No use in going through the trouble of finding out, only to be caught and not be able to leave if the threat is real." Ginny said. Harry listened to his friends and together with Luna and Ginny keeping watch on either end of the hall and Neville and Ron distracting Umbridge, Hermione and Harry were able to get into her locked office. Harry did not hesitate and bent down on his knees and placed his head into the fire with the powder.
"Sirius!" He called out, but no one answered. "Sirius! Anyone!" He spoke. A creak came from behind the table, in the cupboard.
"The boy who lives, showing his grubby face in my mistresses' fireplace. Oh, what would my poor mistress say." Kreature spoke.
"Kreature!" He called out.
"He calls to Kreature, the filthy little- "The little elf stood in front of Harry.
"Kreature, where is Sirius, fetch him!" He yelled.
"Master Sirius is not home." Kreature smiled. "He disobeyed the rules, you see." He told him and Harry was not able to hear another word, he was being pulled by his hair, out of the fire.
"I knew it was only a matter of time!" Umbridge took Harry still by the hair and threw him into the chair. His wand on her desk. Hermione was being held in place, rather roughly by Crabbe. Malfoy, while Goyle held Neville in place by the neck. Draco entered the office, with Rose and Pansy and a few more Slytherin in tow. Luna, Ginny, and Ron were all wandless and in being forcefully held in place by the other Slytherin. Draco took in the scene before him, staring first and foremost at Hermione, being hurt by Crabbe.
"We found them out in the Hall." Malfoy said. Harry shot him a vengeful look.
"Wonderful, it looks like Hogwarts will be Weasley free by the end of the day." Umbridge said. Draco continued to stare at Hermione. Rose placed her hand on his shoulder. "Go fetch Snape for me, Draco." He looked down at Rose and she nodded at him. He ran from the room. Harry watched her too, as she moved around the room. Harry looked hopeful, of course there was someone else from the order here. Snape, he could warn them. "Who were you contacting? Was it Dumbledore?" As Harry fought against her gaze, Rose walked over to where Crabbe and Goyle handled Neville and Hermione.
"Have you taken their wands?" The boys nodded. "Then what are you afraid of?" She whispered as Umbridge continued to berate Harry. "Just all brute force, eh boys?" Rose placed herself between them, closer to Hermione, who shot her a grateful look. Ron watched amazed, struggling against Zabini. Draco reached the door first, and Snape followed closely behind him. He took in the scene again and stood beside the door.
"You wanted to see me, Headmistress?" Snape spoke.
"Yes, I will be needing your Veritaserum. I've just caught Potter communicating with Dumbledore." She spoke.
"I was not!" Harry spoke and Umbridge slapped him in the face.
"You must not tell lies Potter!" She said loudly and a few Slytherin snickered. Draco and Rose exchanged a look.
"Surely you didn't use all that I gave you the last time you interrogated Potter. As I've said only a few drops will do." Snape told her.
"I don't have any more, bring me more." She spoke.
"I don't have anymore." He told her. Harry tried desperately to think about what he needed Snape to know, was he reading his mind?
"Then brew some." She insisted. "This is a matter of Ministry Security." She told him.
"Of course, Headmistress, But I should warn you that it takes nearly a month to complete, said potion." He told her and her little eyes widened.
"Are you refusing to assist in the capture of a Ministry wanted criminal? Are you refusing to help me now? Think carefully before you speak." She spoke.
"I am not refusing anything, simply stating the facts. I don't have what you need." He told her.
"You've just added yourself to my list. Probation Severus and that is not a place you want to be, believe me." She threatened.
"If that is what you wish." He told her. Snape turned to leave, but Harry could not let him go.
"He's got Padfoot!" Harry yelled and Snape stopped. "He's got Padfoot in the place where it's being kept." Harry yelled again.
"What is that? What is Padfoot? In what place? Where what is being held?" Umbridge asked. "Snape?" She urged him, Snape turned around, meeting Harry's eyes. Rose took a step back and then stared at Hermione who nodded.
"I have no idea what he's talking about." Snape said and turned to Harry. "If I wanted to hear nonsense Potter, I would give you a babbling potion." He said and swept from the room.
"Very well. If the potion is not an option, then there are other ways. The Cruciatas curse for one."
"That's Illegal!" Hermione Cried.
"What Cornelius doesn't know won't hurt him." Umbridge turned her back on Harry and Rose lifted her wand.
"Petrificus totalus." The body binding curse hit Umbridge on her back and she dropped like a stiff board. Harry looked at Rose, where she stood. The other Slytherin still astonished by what they had just witnessed. Pansy pointed her wand at Rose, but she was quicker. "Stupefy." Rose shouted and then she and Draco stunned every other member of their exclusive club. The others watched them flabbergasted.
"Bloody hell." Ron muttered. "What just happened?" He asked. Hermione walked over to Harry.
"They just saved Harry from an unforgivable curse." She told them. "Are you alright?" She asked Harry.
"But why?" Harry asked. Rose pointed to the door and Draco shut it, the other Slytherin laid unconscious, but Rose did not answer them, instead she gathered all the wands they had confiscated and placed them on the desk, before bending over Umbridge. She stared back at her, groaning.
"Go to sleep, toad." She told she told her and waved her wand. Umbridge's eyes rolled back into her head.
"You'd better take her memories too, just to be safe." Draco suggested and Harry shot him an untrusting look.
"Tell me what's going on!" Harry looked between Rose, Draco, and Hermione. But his eyes lingered on Hermione, and she looked away at Rose. Harry walked over to the desk and grabbed his wand. "Now!" He yelled. Harry lifted his wand towards Rose, but Draco took a step between them.
"Drop it, Potter." He said, lifting his own wand.
"Enough." Rose said, stepping out from behind Draco and taking a very risky step towards Harry. Hermione grew anxious. "We don't have time for this. Didn't you say Sirius is in trouble? He's got Padfoot in the place where it's kept?" She said word for word and Harry flinched at the mention of Sirius' name.
"How do you know Sir- "He started but Rose shook her head.
"Harry, I promise you that I will try to explain everything, but for now can you just trust that I want him saved as much as you do?" She begged. "Please." She told him. Harry stared at her for a second and when his eyes fell on Hermione, she gave him a simple nod.
"Fine." He told them. He turned to the others who wore a puzzled look on their face. In all the excitement, Ron had positioned himself to block Hermione. "We have to get to the ministry." Harry said.
"The ministry of magic?" Neville asked. Harry nodded but looked back at Ron and Hermione.
"I can't risk anyone else getting hurt because of me." Harry told them, eyeing the rest of the group.
"Why don't you let us worry about that?" Ginny suggested.
"What have you been training us for?" Neville asked.
"We can use all the help we could get Harry." Harry hesitated, looking around the room, Draco and Rose were having a silent conversation.
"What?" Harry asked.
"We're all going, Harry." Hermione interrupted. "The only question remains is how are we going to get there?"
"Can't we use the fireplace?" Neville asked.
"No, she's locked it out of the floo network, it only works to make calls out." She spoke. Rose stared at Draco again.
"Well then, we fly of course." Luna suggested. Harry thought about his broom, now tied up in the dungeon.
"There aren't enough brooms for all of us to take without being seen." Harry said.
"What about the Thestrals?" Luna suggested and Harry smirked at her.
"Let's go." Harry said.
"Wait." Draco called out. "Let Rose and I lead you out." He spoke.
"You're less likely to be stopped by anyone if we are there." Rose told him. Harry didn't want to stop, and he didn't want to trust them, but he nodded. Draco rushed from the room and each one grabbed their wands as they left. When the door was closed and the room empty, Hermione locked it magically. Draco chucked the other's wands behind a bench and walked quickly towards the forest, while Rose took the rear.
"Thank you." Hermione whispered to her.
"What choice did I have?" She asked her. Ron stared at them and their exchange, he eyed Hermione suspiciously. They made it outside, without interruption and once they were in the covers of the trees, Luna and Harry ran towards the invisible creatures.
"There aren't enough." Harry told them.
"There's a few more there, but no not nearly enough." Rose and Draco looked at each other.
"Draco, our brooms are in the bunker." Rose said and Draco nodded.
"Go on ahead, we'll be right behind you." Draco told them. Harry watched him uneasily.
"You do know what's waiting at the ministry." Harry said to Draco.
"The dark lord?" Draco asked him and Harry nodded. "He'll probably have his death eaters there as well." Harry said and Hermione came to stand next to him.
"So?" Draco said irritated.
"What happens if you father is there waiting for us?" Harry said plainly.
"Stop it." Rose told him.
"No, Hermione may trust you and apparently Draco now, but it doesn't mean I do. I know exactly who the Malfoy's are." Harry spat.
"Listen Potter- "Draco started.
"Stop it!" Rose yelled.
"Perfect Potter, pointing fingers at me. You have no idea what I've had to do to make sure people were protect against the dark lord and yes my father." Draco spat. "I'm here to help Rose. Trust that, I will do so in anyway that is within my power." He said and Harry shook his head.
"Harry please, we're wasting time. Trust me, they are not the problem right now." Hermione urged him. Harry moved but continued to stare at Draco, from a sideways glance.
"We'll catch up. Go on ahead." Rose told Hermione and she left with them. They watched them take flight. Draco stood there with his fist clenched and his eyes squared off. Rose waited a few seconds, but there was urgency in what they needed to be doing.
"It's alright. He's not going to understand in a second." Rose told him. "Give it time."
"To understand what?" Draco asked. "He's not wrong, Rose. What if my father is there? If anyone see's me there, taking a stand with Harry Potter, then I'm putting my whole family at risk. Anyone I care about." He told her.
"Draco, it's alright. You've done so much for me already. You don't have to come. I can manage." She told him and he looked down at her, as if she'd just told him, she didn't care if she had three heads. The nonsense.
"Of course, I'm going with you." He told her. "We're in this together Rose and we'll deal with what comes as it comes." She looked up at him astounded.
"I don't deserve you, Draco." She told him. After a few seconds they moved. "Let's go." They sprinted towards the bunker as if their lives depended on it. As they passed the threshold Draco sprinted for the brooms, but Rose went for the table. Draco rushed to her side when he realized what she was doing.
"Are you taking everything?" She looked up at him for only a second.
"I don't think I'll be welcome back to Hogwarts after what I've just done. I'm not a student here Draco." She said to him and continued to shrink her books and stuff them into her robes.
"You can hide here." He pointed around them. She stopped what she was doing and turned to him.
"No, I can't. And I can't go back to my grandfather's home. I can't be a part of the dark lord's army." She spoke. "If things don't go our way and I can't go with my father, I have to run and try to make it on my own." She said and Draco shook his head.
"No, that's madness." She smiled and continued to work.
"It was my plan in case I never found him Draco. I told you before. I can't stay with the Avery's. They are not my family, but I don't regret my time there. I met you." She said and once every book and potion were in their pockets, Rose took her broom from him.
"Are you ready then?" Draco asked her and pulled out his wand.
"Ministry of Magic, London." He said and tapped their brooms. They were off on the race of their lives.
Sirius stood beside Harry, as they dueled Lucius Malfoy and a masked death eater. Lucius was sent flying into the wall behind them, but the masked death eater blocked their advances. As both Harry and Sirius threw hex and jinx at him, the man began circling them until Sirius finally disarmed him, a smile spread across his face.
"Do you know how long I've waited to see you again, Black?" The man spoke and Sirius stiffened. He took a protective stance in front of Harry. The man took a step towards them.
"Alexander?" Sirius called out. With a wave of his wand the man's mask flew from his face. "Here I stand, and here you are, still on the wrong side." He told him. "It's over Alex, you've lost." Alex started laughing and Harry looked at him uneasily.
"I've lost? I serve the Dark Lord and we will have already won this war." He said and Sirius, let the ropes fly from his wand and wrap around Alex.
"Then why are you going to Azkaban?" Sirius laughed.
"You don't know do you?" Alex taunted him and Sirius stared at him. "That I have left you with nothing!" He said and Sirius shook his head. "Do you know she begged for her life?" Sirius stiffened. "That she begged for your daughter's life." Sirius took a step away from Harry and towards Alex's bound body. "Oh, you didn't know?"
"What did you do?!" Sirius held him by the throat and Harry took a step towards them. Remus had joined them now, Blocking Harry from the continued fight.
"It was her fault really. All those years I searched for my sister, and I could never find her." He said, Sirius was engulfed in every word. "Do you know what her mistake was?" He laughed. "She was looking for you. Came all the way to London and was seen. It was hard to find her then, to see what she had given up. A small cottage outside of a muggle town, of all places."
"You killed your sister?!" Sirius screamed and threw him to the ground. Alex only laughed.
"She begged me to spare her, but after her betrayal I needed to send you a message." He said and Sirius punched him in the face, Remus pulled him away, but was thrown backwards against Harry. "I took everything from you Black. I have your daughter and I was going to induct her into the army, but now I think I'll kill her too. All you blood traitors deserve to die." He boasted and as Sirius pulled back another punch, a flash of green light streaked towards him. The curtain behind him flapped and his body disappeared. Harry screamed, an ear curdling scream and Remus held him in place. The cackling laughter of Bellatrix Lestrange filled the room and Alex was sent flying by a stream of red light. Harry fought against Lupin's restraints and finally burst free.
"I killed Sirius Black!" Bellatrix taunted and Harry followed her out. Lupin was shot back, while pursuing him.
