Akame ga kill will always be a series I enjoy despite it's many writing flaws, I think it's ok to still like series that may not be super well written but are still very enjoyable, you will eventually find better stuff for sure...but I'll always thank this series for being a gateway for me to other series similar to it.
The gentle breeze and sudden cold air gave the feeling of dread, Daikon was the only conscious one left while most of the others were knocked out, Gil and Taeko stepped aside...allowing Mera to deal with him "I heard quite a bit about you, my assassins say you have incredible skill...".
He continued to stare, grabbing the handle of his longsword "I will avenge Gin, and make sure you never kill anyone again", she only laughed, not taking his words seriously "You wish to stop me from killing your friends...when the Empire has done the same to many people".
Daikon unsheathes the blade, now holding it with both hands while in his sword stance "I can care less about the Empire itself, what matters is that my friends survive", Mera had stopped laughing and switches to a serious mood, this is the first time she meets someone like him.
She pulls out a familiar sword, Gin's sword "You'd work for a corrupt society...so you can stay with your friends?", his face remained focused "I don't know about them being corrupt...but I don't want to abandon those close to me", Taeko remained silent, listening to their conversation.
(Disturbed – The Game)
Mera points the blade towards him "I see now, you care about your friends and not the people", Daikon sees the sword she's using and grits his teeth, shaking from anger "That doesn't belong to you...", she responds by swinging it sideways, clearly not caring about how he feels "Then do something about it".
He lets out an angry shout, charging forward with a powerful swing, Mera clashes against his attack and the battle begins, Daikon swings his blade with fury, he spins to hit Mera's chest with his elbow, pushing her forward into the wall of a building.
She slowly gets back up, dusting herself off "Impressive, but your gonna have to do more to beat me", he stared while gripping his sword tightly, preparing for another assault "Alright, here I go!", they clash once again, Taeko and Gil remain where they are until they are needed.
Daikon remembers that Gin told him Mera could control bugs, but he doesn't know what kind or to what extent she can control them, he begins to slowly overpower her, as if he was getting better as he fought, but the Oarburgh had tricks up her sleeve "Foolish boy, I can do much more than this...".
Suddenly a dozen bee wrigglers can be seen flying over the inn, Daikon already suspected this...but it still surprised him, Mera takes advantage of this and kicks him away, moving her right arm forward "Attack my wrigglers!" she says in a commanding voice.
They start rushing towards him with angry insect like noises, luckily he charges up a ki blast, firing it forward to blow up a few, Taeko and Gil saw this before...but Mera was a bit shocked "How can he do something like that?" she thought to herself.
She rushes to him with 5 consecutive slashes, he was able to dodge all of her attacks and grabbed her sword arm, punching her gut before kicking her head sideways, more of her wrigglers start swarming around the area to attack.
Daikon fires multiple ki blasts at the insects, but as he was shooting Mera kicked his back, he rolls away but jumps back up "Damn, I got too distracted, she could be using these bugs to divert my attention" he thought.
The bug lady forces her wrigglers to distract him again, as he was killing them she tried to attack from behind, only for Daikon to slightly look behind and backhanded her face with his right fist, clearly not falling for the same trick again.
Mera's stolen blade was gone from her hands as she crashed into a wall, she then jumped with multiple fast paced jabs, a couple of them hit his chest but he blocks most of them, with a grunt he delivers a thunderous blow to her stomach, proceeding to punch her face rapidly and kick her up in the air.
While mid-air she clapped her hands together, her wrigglers attacking from both sides, Daikon notices this hand lets out a shout, spreading his arms apart to release a small shockwave that blows the insects away.
He would jump up to kick her back down with great force, Mera crashed back down with injuries "He really is a problem, this feels like that fight from years ago with that blue haired girl..." she thought before recovering, the woman prepares her fists to attack and runs towards him.
Daikon and Mera attack each other with incredible speed, both landing solid blows, she attempted to grab his left arm but he quickly dodged and kicks her back with his knee, "W-what speed" Gil says with intrigue, Taeko held her sheathed blade, waiting for the right moment to attack.
Mera catches Gin's blade, holding tightly out of frustration "This boy...i can't stand him, he will not foil my plans" she talks to herself in a quiet tone, however a thought crossed her mind, she wasn't alone...she had allies behind her.
She leaps forward with rapid swings, Daikon dodged as many swings as he could, however after one attack was avoided, Mera spins to the right and delivers a punch to his face, knocking him a bit off balance as she does a powerful kick, sending him forward.
He stands and slide backwards to prevent him from crashing, he just barely hits his back against a wall, clenching both his fists while giving an angered look "I can't lose, I have to save everyone!" he thought, all his friend's lives were in danger right now.
He would scream and power up with his white aura, pulling out his blade once more and dashing with a horizontal slash, Mera blocks it and manages to grab his head and slam him into the ground, a small shockwave blows debris across the area they fought.
Before she can stomp on his head he rolls away, performing a sweep to knock her off her balance, more bee wrigglers begin rising from parts of the town, they swarm around Daikon to keep him in place, Mera looks towards her 2 assassins, raising her hand up, giving them a signal.
Daikon shouts as he shoots many ki blasts from his left hand, after the wrigglers were destroyed he looked back at Mera with a calmed expression "Your pretty tough, too bad you aren't a good person...", she wipes the blood off her face "Heh, don't give me your sympathy, especially since your male".
He had a confused look "What does that have to do with any of this?", she stood up gripping her sword as she stared back "I don't like men...they disgust me, girls should only love girls...that is how things should be...", Daikon was both confused and angered, he wonders what made her this way.
"I don't know why you hate boys so much, but you shouldn't be discriminating against people!" he says, he thought about how some people mistreated him because of his tail...now he meets someone not too different "I will put an end to your hatred!".
Daikon gets back into his sword stance, now angered by her discrimination, Mera then wore a malicious smirk, getting ready to battle once more "Too bad for you I'm not the only one who thinks this...", as he was about to attack Taeko and Gil jump forward.
Taeko then swiftly unsheathed her sword with an emotionless face, Gil stood with her fists ready, he stopped his attack with a frown "Now I'll have to fight all of them..." he thought, Mera kept her smirk now that she isn't fighting alone and things seem to be in her favor, the odds are stacked against him.
"I know how to fight those other 2...but combined with their leader...this can be tricky" he says in his head, sweat began to slowly drop from his face, but with a shout he jumped towards them to attack, Mera blocked his blade and Gil throws a solid punch.
Taeko quickly tried to stab him but luckily he fell down to avoid the attack, he kicks her to Gil then jumps up with an overhead swing to Mera, as they clashed the woman taunted him further "Your friends don't care about the people either...how terrible".
Suddenly he was overpowering her in the clash, he almost breaks her stolen sword until Gil charges against him, knocking him against the same wall and causing it to crack further, he sees her jump forward with a kick then gets out of the way, making her crash through the building.
He quickly blocked Taeko's surprise attack and roundhouse kicks her to the ground, he rushes to Mera with countless swings, trying his best to defeat her, and with one powerful strike he breaks her weapon, making her a bit furious.
She jumps farther away from him, the other 2 slowly get back up, dusting themselves off and covering their injuries, Daikon began to breath heavily, this fight was taking a lot of energy out of him...not to mention the fight before, but he will not let that get in the way.
Mera was a bit fatigued as well, she notices his tiredness and begins smiling "What's the matter...is this battle too much for you?", "No!" he yelled, holding on tightly to his sword, she looks down to see the unconscious girl closest to her...Kurome, her wicked mind came up with a strategy.
"If your so confident about that...then attack me..." she says in a sinister tone, she stood still while staring into his eyes, Daikon was confused but he didn't care, as soon as he began charging forward Mera quickly grabbed Kurome, using her as a shield, he then stopped...scared...and furious.
Mera taunts him more, holding Kuro's unconscious body in front of her "I see...this one is most important to you...", his anger grew and he shouted with worry in his voice "LET HER GO!", suddenly Taeko and Gil rush towards him, he blocks each of their attacks.
Taeko relentlessly swings at him, making sure he is distracted by her, as Daikon blocks block and clashes against her attacks...his fatigue was getting worse, Gil sprints with a powerful punch, dealing some damage to him with quick combos.
She kicks him forward, making him drop his longsword, the strap he uses to hold the sheath of his sword...slides off, "How dare you...y-you monster!" Daikon yelled at Mera, he rushed towards her but Gin performs a double axe handle to his back, causing him to let out a weak shout.
After he was knocked into the ground she kicks him away forcefully, Mera was laughing at this sight and lets go of Kurome, as Daikon layed on the ground she approached him with her arms crossed "What makes you think you can defeat me with sheer willpower...naive boy".
He grits his teeth, glaring at her with anger "I...i will defeat you...monster", but just as he tries to get up she stomps on his chest, he yelled in pain which gave her satisfaction, but then he grabs her leg and knocks her down with a lot of strength before kicking her into a wall.
But as soon as he runs to attack Taeko grabbed his tail, he screamed as he was held in place, Gin then starts hitting him relentlessly with a grin, and while he was beginning to feel dizzy from all the hits she deals a heavy blow to his stomach, knocking him back to the ground.
As he layed on his stomach with twitching eyes he looks at the sleeping Kurome and Akame, trying to reach out for them, but then the fatigue had finally caught up to him...and he passes out, the bug lady chuckled in victory "Stay down this time".
She breaths heavily with her hands on her knees, sweat dripped from her skin as she was very exhausted, Gil runs to her "Are you alright mam?" she asked, Mera nods "I'm fine, admittedly that took a lot out of me", Taeko looked down at Daikon, feeling bad for him...but this was her job.
The dark haired assassin approaches his body and holds her blade upside down with both hands, ready finish him off "Goodbye...warrior", "Stop" Mera commanded with a serious voice, she rests her hands on her with a smile "I want him alive...for now".
"B-but mam" she stuttered, Mera shook her head "Remember what I told you, I want to make him suffer...then I'll kill him myself", Taeko still didn't like the sound of that, as much as she hates it she sighs and sheaths her blade, "Excellent, now Gil...carry his body for me" Mera says.
Gil nodded and holds Daikon with all her strength, Mera then crouches down to Akame...holding her tightly with a grin "Now you will be mine...Akame", Taeko raised her hand "Mam, what do we do with her sister?" she asked curiously, the woman still kept her smile "She can come too, I'll use her as a way of convincing Akame...and torturing the boy".
As Mera and Gil walk away Taeko looks down at Kurome before carrying her, her eyes gave a worried look "I'm sorry..." she says quietly, all 3 of the Oarburghs traveled through the town and entered the forests they came from, the mission was a success.
Mera stared at Akame's face, thinking of many things that are possible with her on their side, how effortless their missions will become...as well as things outside of combat, she giggled to herself at her success before something crossed her mind.
"What's wrong?" Taeko asked, Mera shook her head "Everything's fine, though I wonder if you all checked to make sure the others are dead", Gil nods in confidence "Yeah, I'm sure my strength is enough to kill them", Taeko however was distracted by her fight with Daikon, she wonders if they really checked...or if they are being too confident.
Meanwhile
Natala was still asleep back at the inn, dreams of all his memories filled his mind, until he hears Gin's voice scream his name in his head...then he wakes up, holding his chest with a bit of pain "Damn...that really hurt", but all the pain was replaced with shock as he sees Gin's body.
"Gin!" he shouts, he quickly runs to the corpse and shakes it, trying to wake her up but nothing happening, "No, this can't be real!" he shouted, but as soon as he realized she was dead...he stops, holding her tightly with tears in his eyes, things were looking hopeless for him.
He holds her cold hands, looking into her sleeping eyes "I promise...i'll keep your memory alive...Gin", he puts the body down, remembering all the stuff they have been through, with a sigh he stood up, looking out the window at the town that now seemed abandoned.
Afterwards he hears noises, he quickly grabbed his shingu and runs out the room door, "Damn that bitch, she was a real pain" Gozuki covers his face, groaning from his injuries, he walks out the door and looked around, things were very quiet in this town.
"Akame, Kurome, everyone where are you at?!" he called out worriedly, as he wandered around he sees Daikon's sword and it's sheath, very concerned about their situation "What the hell is happening, where are those 3?" he asked himself, "Sir!" Natala called out.
Gozuki takes Daikon's stuff and turns back "Natala...are you alright?", the blonde boy nods "Yes sir...but I can't say the same about Gin...", "So...they killed her" the older man frowned, angered by this so-called leader of the Oarburgh clan "That woman will pay dearly...".
Natala sees what he's holding and shakes in fear "Is...is Daikon dead too?" he asked, Gozuki shook his head "I doubt it...but something must have happened to him and the sisters", the young man then looked down "Kurome's in danger too...this is terrible".
He thinks about his team, the responsibility of team leader weighed heavily "Sir...we have to rescue them, i will not let them die like Gin did", Gozuki nods In agreement "Your right Natala, getting those 2 back is as important as our campaign".
But then he rests his fingers on his chin, curious about Mera's plan "But why would their leader want them alive...", as soon as they turn around Green and Cornelia walk out of the building, the leader held Daikon's stuff tightly "Glad you 2 are alright".
Green fixed his glasses "That blonde girl really put a number on me..." he says as he covered his wounds, Cornelia crossed her arms while wearing her gauntlet shingu "Yeah, though why didn't they make sure we were dead...not complaining though...".
Gozuki sighed, the gravity of the situation made it hard to think "Alright everyone this is a dire situation, 3 of our own are missing and 1 is dead" he says in a melancholic tone, everyone looked down in sadness at the loss of an ally.
He then continued "We don't know why they want Daikon and the sisters...but we are damn well gonna get them back...but we need a plan", it still bothered him why Mera wants those 3 alive...he feared for the worst.
Everyone remained silent for a brief moment as they try to come up with something, Natala steps forward, holding his shingu tightly "I think I might know who can help us", Gozuki turned his head back to him "Go on Natala...who are these people?".
Natala looks towards everyone with a serious face "The Four Rakshasa Demons...", Gozuki's interest was peaked "So...you heard about them?" he asked, Natala responds with confidence "Yes sir, I think they could help us out on this mission".
The leader looked up at the sky, remembering what they were all about, he pats Natala's back while looking at all his assassins, he seemed to be familiar with them "Your right...i think they'll do just fine, we'll request their help".
He gave Natala Daikon's stuff and held the teigu Murasame tightly, looking towards the sky "We'll contact the Demons, rescue our allies, and destroy the Oarburghs once and for all...", everyone nods in agreement, no matter how dire the situation...they will continue to pull through.
2 hours later, the Oarburgh base
Kurome slowly opened her eyes "Sis...Daikon...where are you?", she was in room lit with torches, her anxiety was slowly building up as she looked around, before she can say anything someone else wakes up "Kurome...is that you?", Akame awakes from her slumber.
"Sis!" she runs to her older sister and hugs her tightly "Are you ok?", Akame responds as she pats her back "I'm fine, how about you?", she nods "Yeah, but where are we?", Akame looked around while scratching her head.
The dark room they were in already tells her they aren't in safe hands "I'm not sure, but we aren't safe here", Kurome looks at the cold floor and sits down, the complete silence along with the darkness makes her feel uneasy, it was then that she realized where they could be "This has to be the Oarburghs base...".
She looks at herself and sees her sword is gone, which was to be expected, same thing went for Akame...they both had no weapons to properly defend themselves, the red eyed assassin touches the wall and thinks about what to do "There has to be a way to escape...".
Even though their hands aren't bounded by a rope or cuffs, if they tried to escape as the are it would be suicide, their base must be heavily guarded by soldiers of the clan and Akame can't risk endangering herself and her sister even more.
Kurome then remembers how they were defeated, she remembers Gilberda knocking her out first "That blonde girl...she defeated me...", afterwards she sighed and stared at the floor in sadness, the day was peaceful until the Oarburghs attacked.
They then heard a door opening and turned their heads to look, Mera herself has closed the door behind her, giving them a loving smile, but they knew she wasn't friendly at all "Welcome to my base...Akame" the woman says politely.
"So, you must be the leader" Akame responds with a frown, Mera nodded her head "Of coarse, my name is Merraid Oarburgh...a pleasure to meet you", Akame resisted the urge to attack...that would only make things worse, she calmed herself down before resting her shoulders "What do you want with us?".
Kurome already didn't like this woman, someone who masks their kindness with sinister intent, "If only we were prepared...this wouldn't have happened" she thought, Mera answered Akame's question while keeping her eyes on both of them "I want you to join my clan Akame, you would make a great asset".
"No way in hell will I ever join you!" Akame yelled with intensity, this only made Mera laugh a bit harder than usual "How funny, I didn't know you were a comedian as well", Akame continued to resist to attack...but it wasn't easy "I wasn't joking...".
Mera then turned to Kurome, staring into her eyes with a venomous smile "As for your sister...i have other plans for her", Akame then gets on the defensive "Stay away from my sister!" she yellled, the bug lady gently pats her head "Don't worry, I will do no harm to her".
A sense of dread surrounded Kurome as she stayed as far as she could from the woman, she wanted to do something...but she felt she had to remain calm for now, Mera crossed her arms "If you accept my invitation to join my clan I'll let your sister go, but if not...her life comes to an end".
The sisters shook in both anger and fear, the leader really wants her to join...but Akame will not have it, but to ease up the tension she shrugged "Maybe, but you'll have to prove to me if it's really worth it", she looked at Kurome with a slight nod, a way of telling her that it's apart of a plan.
Mera frowned...but she will let this slide if it's a way to make her join "Alright, I'll show you that joining the Oarburgh clan is a huge benefit, as well as the truths that the Empire is hiding from you", Kurome scratched her head "Truths, what Truths?" she asked.
"You'll know soon enough too" the woman replies, Mera looks back at Akame "As for you...we'll be going on a walk", Akame felt this was a way to stall time, maybe...just maybe...the others will arrive to help them, "Chelsea!" Mera called out.
Chelsea walks inside the room with her hands behind her back, she was surprised to see the other 2 here "Yes mam?" she asked, Mera smiles while standing next to Akame "I want you to keep an eye on this one" she points at Kurome, with a nod Chelsea walks closer and bows to her "I will".
Kurome was not sure what to think of this, but this red headed girl looks nicer to be around than Mera, so she lets out a quiet sigh and kept her hands to herself, the leader wraps her left arm around Akame...which made her feel uncomfortable.
"We'll be seeing you two later, for now me and Akame will take a walk around" Mera says happily, holding onto Akame's left shoulder, as those 2 walk out Kurome was left with this mysterious woman "So...what's your name?" she asked.
Chelsea took off her headphones for a brief moment and sits down "I'm Chelsea...how about you?", "Kurome" the black eyed girl responds, it wasn't easy talking with an enemy, but Kurome felt much better around this girl than the wicked woman who took Akame.
Chelsea looks forward at the torches that lit the room, the silence made it harder to talk so she started another conversation "Normally I would have to kill you since we are enemies...but I'm gonna need your help", Kurome was confused...yet interested "What do you mean?".
The red head turns back and tries to explain as best she could "Being here in the Oarburgh clan is stressful, if it wasn't for Taeko...i would have never considered staying longer", she then stood up "Even if you are in the Empire...i want you to destroy the Oarburghs".
Kurome now had a smile on her face, there was someone who is willing to help an enemy defeat another enemy, she stood up as well "Thanks Chelsea, I'm glad you want to help us", Chelsea coughs a bit "Don't take it the wrong way, I'm willing to help you...if it helps me".
The black eyed girl nodded, she then looked back at the door "Wait...are we the only ones captured?", Chelsea shook her head "No, they captured someone else as well", Kurome wanted to hear about this, she wants to know all the details "Who is it?".
Meanwhile in another room
Gilberda opened the door to a different room, she along with Taeko walk inside the close the door behind them "This should be interesting" the blonde says with eagerness, Taeko remained silent, she wasn't comfortable doing this sort of thing.
Gil smirked at what was in front of them, Daikon was stripped of his clothing, only wearing ragged and torn black pants, he was held up by cuffs on the wall as he was a couple inches from the ground, he slowly opened his twitching eyes, clearly not happy to see these 2.
Taeko approached him with a concerned face, she held a whip and slowly stroked it, Gil walks closer and prepares her fists for some punching, she looks into his eyes with excitement...as if she waited for a moment like this "This will be fun", all Daikon could do was watch.
