I am thinking about adding extra chapters that won't affect the main plot, but are fun side stories that you can enjoy, like if I wanted to write a holiday chapter to celebrate, I can do that while also not interrupting what's happening in the actual story, also they don't have to be as long as how the chapters usually are to save more time, if you guys like this idea please feel free to let me know, I think it's a neat idea though it'll take time to figure out how to do it.
The sky gained it's blue color as the battle resumed, Mera was now surrounded from the front and back, Natala spins his spear around and turns to the direction of the base "Sir, I'll be looking for the others and destroy any Oarburgh in our way".
Gozuki grinned in response "Go ahead, show them what happens when they mess with our allies", afterwards Natala nodded his head and sprints inside the base, slicing up any Oarburgh assassin in his way, determined to live up to his responsibility as team leader.
The older man unsheathed his deadly teigu, a dark purple aura surrounding it "As for you Merraid, you will be sentenced to death by my blade...", Mera was unhappy with her current position, but despite that she only smiled at his threat "That is a rather beautifully ominous blade...but it won't be beating me, just like last time".
This is when Akame dashed at her quickly in an attempt to kill her, however Mera quickly dodged and gets back into battle position "You are quite persistent Akame, let me sit you back down", she kicks her stomach and grabs her by the hair "I've had enough of you, now stay down!".
The woman slams Akame's face against the ground, causing it to crack, Cornelia aimed her fist and punches Mera's face, she grabbed the blondes arm and threw her out of her way, "Cornelia!" Green shouts as he ran to catch her, the bug lady then stomped on the red eyed girls back.
Gozuki then takes action, he would dash forward with a horizontal slash, managing to cut off some of her hair, but the Oarburgh jumped away, grabbing a sword from the ground "Now lets see if I can defeat a teigu wielder such as yourself".
They clash their blades against each other, moving and jumping around through the outside of the base, Akame was slowly lifting her head up, noticing Cornelia and green, she rises back up to approach them "Guys, I think you should be handling the other Oarburghs, me and father will fight the leader".
Cornelia looks up to see her, worried about her condition "But Akame, you look tired", Akame only closed her eyes, grabbing a sword from a slain assassin "I'll be fine, what matters is we complete our mission", she looks towards the battle and runs.
"Hehe...she's still the same Akame" Green states with a smile, the blonde chuckled as she gets up "Yeah, now lets kick some ass" she said with confidence "And besides, she still might be able to finish this", the 2 of them nod their heads and rush into battle.
As Mera was distracted by Gozuki, Akame rushes into the fight and attempts to stab her, however Mera jumped away, letting her ant wrigglers explode in front of her, luckily Akame moved from the explosion, pointing her blade before running after her.
"Ok Akame, we'll fight her together" Gozuki says while staring at their opponent, Mera only shrugged "Whatever, the both of you can come after me...it won't make any difference..." she says with a grin, jumping backwards into the forest behind her.
Meanwhile inside the base
Daikon and Kurome continue to cut through more assassins as they all try to escape, Suzuka uses Akame's blade to cut one assassin in half that got too close "I think we should be close to the exit, keep an eye out", Chelsea nods her head in agreement, holding onto her case tightly.
Kurome jumps forward to engage in combat against 2 assassins, she kicks one of them out through the window and quickly stabs the other in the heart, the one she killed coughs out blood before dying and falling to the floor, but then she notices another coming, but she was anticipating it.
The black eyed girl threw her blade up and aims a powerful punch to the stomach, causing the assassin to fly and crash into a wall, she then kicked her blade forward and it end up stabbing and finishing off her opponent, with a huff she retrieves her blade and looks back "Alright, we should be good for now".
Daikon nods with a smile, however Chelsea was baffled by this "I didn't think she was that strong, even for a deadly assassin", he turned his head to face her, replying with a more laid back attitude "We've been training together for a long time, she's way stronger than she would have been without it".
This got the red head thinking "At this rate...we are going to have a big problem in the future", but just as they were getting back to escaping...Gilberda and another assassin jump in their way, she clenches her fists with anger "You aren't going anywhere!".
"Oh not her..." Chelsea muttered, Daikon gets into his martial arts stance, now remaining focused "Nah...i think we'll be going", Gil grits her teeth, charging forward with fury "You will pay for Cassandra's death!", but as her attacked missed she was knocked into a wall.
Daikon shook his head, waiting for another opening, Gil jumped up with multiple punches, all of them were dodged by him, but as she aimed another he kicks her stomach with his knee, afterwards he aimed a spinning kick to her face, causing her to slide against the floor.
"Your not gonna get anywhere by wildly swinging your fists around" he mentions to her, she looks back with as he continued "Even when your angry you need to not lose your focus...or else you'll be too predictable", he would then quickly charge a ki blast and throw it at her direction.
She quickly blocks but it pushed her back further, causing more damage to her body, Daikon kept his arm forward before getting back into fighting stance, "I think we should keep going already" Chelsea mentioned in worry, however Gil gets an idea.
"A technique passed down in the clan, it should be able to help me here" she thought, a moment of silence filled the hallway, only the fighting that's taking place outside can be heard, Daikon remained focused, cautious of what's to come.
Gil stood back up and clenched both her fists "You may be beating me now, but how about if I remove the brains limiters?" she asked, he squinted as he heard her "What are you talking about?", this is when her eyes widened, her veins started showing as her eyes were beginning to darken.
She dashed to him and delivers a powerful punch, Daikon blocks the attack with both his arms but he slides as he was pushed back, debris from the sliding appear in the air while he looked with concern yet intrigue "Woah, so this is what she meant" he thought.
Suzuka appeared behind her to slash at her back but she grabbed her arm and threw her to the ground, kicking her into a wall "I have removed my brains limiters...so now I'm at my full potential!", this worried both Kurome and Chelsea.
Kurome aims her blade with a serious face "Then we'll have to put you down quickly...", Daikon lets out a shout as he powered up, his white aura surrounding him "Ok...let's do this", he dashed with a punch to Gil's face, the blonde was knocked back but returned a punch to his stomach.
The 2 of them trade blows with each other, she threw a kick but he quickly blocked with his right arm and countered with another punch, he would kick her away and this allowed Kurome to make her move, hitting her back with her elbow and kicking her down.
She was about to stab her but Gil rolls out of the way and jumps back up, preparing to attack until Chelsea threw her darts towards her back, getting the blonde's attention, the red head threw one more, making her target move her head away.
Daikon hits the back of Gil's head and grabbed her by the leg, throwing her across the hallway, him and Kurome stare at their opponent who got back up and was slowly approaching, they sprint towards her with swift attacks, but the Oarburgh blocked Daikon's punch and stopped Kurome's blade.
"I will not let Merraid down!" she angerly shouts, Kurome aimed a quick jab at her face then kicked her jaw with great force, Gil's head hits the ceiling, and as her body falls down Daikon punches her out of the building, while she falls down she flips her body backwards to prepare to land.
She lands on the ground with a loud crash, huffing and puffing with rage, Daikon kept looking down and watched his opponent, he was surprised by her power thus far...though still confident "She's pretty strong...much more than before, so we can't let our guard down".
Kurome agrees with his statement, standing by his side with determination "Now let's eliminate her before she becomes an even bigger problem", the 2 nod at each other and decide to land down safely, staring down at their opponent.
Chelsea lets out a sigh, all the running and fighting has affected her stamina "At this rate...escaping won't be a thing for a while" she says to herself, Suzuka chuckled, crossing her arms to watch the fight "If so, it can help to wait till most of the Oarburghs are dead".
Gil's veins were more visible in the sunlight, her body was shaking from her adrenaline "I must...kill them..." she mutters, then she started to activate her other technique of hardening her muscles, her body now appearing more toned.
"I hate looking at all your faces, I will carry out Mera's will by cracking your skulls!" Gil shouts in a battle position, Kurome gets into her sword stance as soon as that happened "Let's end this together Daikon, we'll show her our bonds are greater".
Daikon quickly unsheathed his longsword, holding it tightly with both hands "Gladly", Gil looks left to find nearby dead bodies, she stomps on the ground, and while 2 swords were in the air she grabbed them, now dual wielding both blades of fallen comrades.
The duo charged forward with their weapons, ruthlessly attacking their enemy while she blocked as best she could, she slashes towards Daikon's chest, only for him to move out of the way, countering her with a backhand to her jaw.
Kurome manages to cut her back with a quick slash, Gil shouts in pain and kicks her away, the black eyed girl quickly lands back down then dashed back in the fight, she spins to cut her chest then kicking Gil's thigh to stun her.
Kurome hits her forehead with her elbow, sending her flying back into a tree, Daikon then holds his left hand up to charge a large ki blast, throwing it and causing a small explosion, as the smoke clears Gil is revealed to be standing back up, breathing heavier than before.
This time she had nothing to say, only a loud scream of rage, Daikon quickly blitz to her, cutting her right arm off, Gil quickly reacts by swinging wildly at him, forcing him on the defensive until she tries to slash from below.
Daikon parries her blow, cutting her chest and damaging it even further, blood spills out as she screamed, he punches her across the face with more power to it, making her slide against the ground, "She can't fight too well anymore...she has taken too much damage".
Gil releases a growl as she rises up once more, now too focused on Daikon, running towards him while aiming a stab, he dodges her failed attack, delivering a powerful punch to the gut which makes her cough blood "Your finished..." he says calmly.
He pushes her forward "Now Kurome!" he shouted, Kurome then jumps to the flying opponent, cutting her in half with a downward slash, Gil's eyes were widened, her pupils had no color...thus is the end of Mera's brawler.
After the body parts fell Kurome turned her head back to look, no sympathy for someone who worked under a devil, afterwards she looks at Daikon with a small smile "Target defeated", he would simply smile back, glad to be with her once again.
"Looks like they won" Suzuka says after finished watching, Chelsea looks back, having something on her mind "I hope Taeko isn't here", she looks out the broken wall, noticing the now dead Gilberda "Now the only big threat remaining...is Mera".
Daikon looks around, now feeling concerned about something "Kurome...i think Akame might be after Mera", Kurome looks towards the battlefield, seeing that a lot of the Oarburgh assassins are now slain by the other members of the seven plus the rakshasa demons.
"Sis must be fighting her with the boss too" she replied, Daikon stepped forward, staring deep into the forest "If Natala finds you...tell him I went after Mera", Kurome replied to him with a worried tone "Y-your gonna try to fight her?".
He nods in confirmation "I've fought her before and memorized her fighting style, she may have won before...but i'm not losing this time", he swings his sword to remove blood from the blade "Mera must be killed so no more of our friends will...i must avenge Gins death".
The black eyed girl looked down, now realizing what have happened "She killed Gin?" she asked saddened, Daikon looks back at her "Sadly...but at least she died with a smile, the least I can do is carry out her promise", Kurome lifted her head up, holding onto her sheathed sword tightly.
"Kurome...our fallen allies will rest easy...knowing we'll protect each other" he says still looking into her eyes, she's now comforted by his words, giving him a smile "Go Daikon...take out Mera", he'd smile back as his spiky hair blew in the wind "Yeah...".
Daikon turns back to the forest, predicting Akame and Gozuki might be fighting her there, he sprints towards it, running past all the trees that are covering the sun above "Please hang in there longer guys...i'll find you", he is now racing against time...hoping the bug lady hasn't won.
The forest
The clashing of blades can be heard, Akame and her leader were fighting the leader of the clan herself, Akame performs a flipping kick to her neck, however Mera hardened it, countering with an uppercut and sent her flying upwards, she motioned her hand to alert her wrigglers to attack.
Gozuki increases his hair growth and uses it to catch Akame, throwing her down to safety, Mera uses this to her advantage, stabbing him in the gut, "Oh no!" Akame mutters, "Looks like you are finished" the woman evilly grinned.
However he headbutts her to get her out of his way, pulling out the sword and quickly throwing it towards her, but she simply dodged, letting it stab a tree, but the pain is still there...causing him to crouch down as he covered his wound.
Akame, now angered, rushes to Mera with rapid sword swings, trying to cut her down, Mera dodges all her attack then parried her arm, making the blade fall from her hands "Try harder" she mocked Akame, punching her face with great force.
The red eyed girl returns a punch with her left arm then backhands her, but as she was about to perform a high kick Mera blocked, moving her leg aside and kicking Akame down, but when she gets back up the woman grabbed her by the hair.
Afterwards she lets go and continuously punched the red eyed girls face, grinning as she was enjoying punching her, to finish her combo she grabs her head and kicks her jaw with her knee, making Akame fall down and hold her jaw in pain.
Her face was bruised, with blood and scratches, Mera smiled at her "Is this all you can do now Akame...pitiful...", this caused Akame to rush back in the fight, managing to hit her stomach with a punch, but Mera slowly grabbed her fist even when she was hurt.
"Even though your performance declined...i will give you a good death" the woman says as blood drooled from her mouth, she grabbed Akame's neck and threw her forward "I'm sorry to say this...but you've fought me in my normal state...".
Akame's eyes widened "W-what?!", Gozuki grits his teeth, slamming his fist on the ground "Damnit, she always has something up her sleeve", Akame kept staring at her, still confused about what she said "What do you mean by normal state?" she asked.
Mera continued to explain "Like I said...you've all been fighting me how I normally am, however even though my wrigglers are insect danger beasts...they can function like teigus...which means they possess a trump card".
Both Akame and Gozuki were baffled to hear this "H-how can these danger beasts be used as teigus?" Akame asked, they both stared as Mera crouched down and touched the floor "Now watch...as I go through my metamorphosis!", then Caterpillar wrigglers slowly approach her.
"W-we took too much damage Akame, we can't fight her like this" Gozuki tells her "If I were faster...i could have ended this with Murasame's curse", Akame clenched her fists "We haven't lost yet, we can still win!".
They were too hurt to move as Mera was now undergoing a transformation, the Caterpillars shoot their silk to wrap her into a cocoon, as it was formed the forest was completely silent, the 2 stared at the cocoon with heavy concern, then it starts to crack.
As it shook they both brace themselves for what is about to happen, it then explodes open, revealing the now transformed Mera, now a human and butterfly wriggler hybrid, Akame starts to shake, both in fear and anger "What is she?".
Mera now had butterfly wings, her forearms and lower legs were now pitch black, the upper half of her clothes were torn, only leaving the lower part of her dress flowing in better shape, she now had antennas and horns, and lastly the ends of her eyes had butterfly wing tattoos.
Akame couldn't believe what she was looking at, Gozuki shook in anger, anger at Mera and himself, the woman gave an evil grin as she shapeshifts her arms into insect like scythes, very pleased with the results "If only you can see your faces as you gaze upon my beautiful form".
Akame stood up and grabbed a sword from the ground, holding onto it with all her strength as her left eye was twitching, she was breathing heavily with sweat dropping from her face, "Still very persistent I see" Mera says confidently.
The red eyed assassin screams with wild swings, but the bug woman simply dodged all her attacks, as each attack missed Mera was laughing internally at watching her fail, she was enjoying being the dominant force "Just accept your defeat already" she says mockingly.
Mera attacks with her right scythe to force her to block, which caused Akame to stop what she was doing and react quickly, but when she tries attacking again the woman simply kicked her face away, making the red eyed girl take a few steps backwards, but then she charged at the bug woman one last time.
Mera swung her left scythe arm at her, Akame blocked but is overpowered by the swing, making her fly backwards and hit a tree, she drops the sword and kept staring at the now transformed Mera "I'm sorry everyone, I failed all of you..." she thought.
Mera lets out a laugh, happy seeing her enemies defeated, though she still needs to kill the rest "After you 2 are dead...i'll finish the rest of you off...especially the boy you call Daikon", this caught Gozuki's attention "She wants to kill Daikon specifically?" he asked himself.
"Now I will finish what I should have done a long time ago, kill every single member of the elite seven" she delcares out loud, everying was looking dire to the 2 of them, they had lost to the enemy...now they will stare death at the face.
Mera points her right scythe at Akame, giving her a death stare "You will be the first to die Akame, think that as a privilege", the red eyed girl layed defeated, waiting for her inevitable death, Gozuki falls on his stomach, thinking he had failed his entire team and the Empire.
Mera begins to fly towards the red eyed girl at high speeds, but then she looks to her left to see a large ki blast, she quickly moves out of the way as the blast hits a tree and explodes, she grits her teeth as she sees who it is "You again...", Daikon stood in front of Akame and Gozuki, only glaring at the woman seriously.
"Daikon?" Akame mutters in an injured voice, he looks back at her and the leader with a smile of hope "You guys did the best you could...please leave the rest to me" he says calmly, Gozuki stared with a chuckle, relieved to see him well "You arrived just in time".
The red eyed girl still couldn't believe what was happening, yet again he has come to their aid at the most desperate situation, she didn't say anything else, only smiled at him as the sunlight was near his direction, they watched as Daikon steps forward, approaching Mera with his sword held tightly.
Mera was now annoyed, her victory was cut short now that she had to face one more challenger, "Let me guess...you've come to stop me?" she asked, Daikon shook his head, his face remaining calm and composed "No...i'm gonna kill you...".
"Tch, so be it" she replied, "This must be her true power, looks like I have to be careful for anything new" he thought to himself, Akame and Gozuki now watched as Daikon was beginning his fight against the leader of the Oarburgh clan once again.
"Alright Daikon...show me how much you improved" Gozuki thought, everyone's survival now depended on this one fight, these 2 now begin their second round, only now Mera is the one not looking too happy, Daikon gets into his sword stance, ready to kill Merraid for good this time.
