As Mattie was getting ready for her date with Jason she thought back to the other night when they kissed at the Lincoln Memorial. It just seemed so magical. Some of her doubts about Jason had vanished. Their kiss seemed to have sparked something in him that she couldn't explain and left her wanting to explore. Jason had been texting her every day since then. He would send messages such as "thinking of you" or ask "What are you doing now?" He even sent her a romantic poem by Lord Byron
"She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and
Starry skies
And all that's a best of dark
and Bright
Meet in her aspect and
her eyes"
Also, he sent her a quote by Lord Byron:
"There are four questions of value in life..what is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for and what is worth dying for? The answer to each is the same. Only Love.
It was a perfect spring day and they were going to go bike riding along the Patomic to view the cherry trees blooming and have a picnic under the trees. She had put her long hair back into a ponytail. She couldn't decide what kind of pants to wear and after trying several styles on she chose the dark chocolate stretch pants and an olive green v neck t-shirt that showed off her curves and the red highlights in her hair.
When Jason arrived he greeted her with a tender kiss on the lips and presented to her a single rose which Mattie put into her favorite vase.
"Jason do we need to buy anything for our picnic?" she inquired
Smiling Jason replied "No I have everything we need! It's all strapped on the back of my bike." He gave her another lingering kiss which made Mattie blush with excitement.
For part of the way, they were able to ride side by side, and a few times Jason reached for Mattie's hand as they rode to hold hands. When they got into the more congested party of the city as they made their way to the river and the cherry trees they had to ride single file. As they got to the river and where the trees were the blanket of pink blossoms burst forth for their eyes to behold. They stopped to take in the scene and Jason took a selfie of them resting on their bikes with the trees in the background. They found a spot under some of the trees to spread out the blanket that Jason had brought and sat down with their picnic basket.
"Oh, Jason this is perfect" Mattie sighed.
"This is great! perfect scenery" as he stared at Mattie lovingly.
Mattie smiled and bowed her head shyly at the obvious intent of his words. She then began to open the basket and take out what Jason had prepared for them. There were two wine glasses, a bottle of wine, chocolate-covered strawberries, crackers, cheese a variety of pates' and last some olives.
" This looks so delicious Jason!"
Jason got the corkscrew out and opened the wine for them and poured it into the glasses.
"First a toast!" Jason declared "to us and our path of love" referring to the quote by Lord Byron that he had sent to Mattie.
They clinked glasses and stared lovingly at each other. Jason took a strawberry and dipped it into his wine and fed it to Mattie. When she had taken it into her mouth Jason reached with his hand and placed it on the back of her head and drew her closer to him. His tongue began to outline her lips tasting the strawberries and wine on them. Mattie gasped in pleasure and allowed Jason to continue exploring her lips and then her mouth as their inhibitions fell away. Jason then lightly pulled the hair tie to free Mattie's hair as it fell to her shoulders.
He murmured "I love your hair down" and grazed his hand through it which sent shivers down Mattie's back. Mattie then in turn dipped a strawberry in wine and repeated what Jason had done. He groaned in pleasure as they sat holding each other.
Then he whispered in her ear "I think I am falling in love with you"
Mattie responded "I think I am too"
