Chapter 3
She said yes. His face erupted into the largest smile that he has given in the longest time. He wanted to scream it from the rooftops that Weiwei said yes but quickly discarded the idea. From what he knows about Weiwei she would not like such a display and it would be completely out of character for him. Instead he chose to lift the hand that he had been holding onto and place a small kiss to her knuckles. Those fingers that had completely entranced him those weeks ago. Xiao Nai would have loved this moment to continue but his phone had decided to go off and spoil the moment. Xiao Nai took a curious glance at his phone and saw that Hao Mei was calling. Curious, he answered the call.
"Third Bro, where are you? Zhenshui and Yaoyao posted a video that degrades Third Sister. You must come quick!" Hao Mei panicked.
"I'll be at the dorm shortly." Xiao Nai coldly replied and hung up.
He took a moment to compose himself before telling Weiwei that they had to cut the meal short and that there was an issue that he would need to take care of. Weiwei tried to ask what was going on and Xiao Nai explained that a video was posted on the game forum that degraded her character. He also said that while he would normally allow her to handle the issue, he would like her to rest and recover from her injury. She wanted to protest but her head was still hurting from earlier so she agreed to rest. When Xiao Nai asked her for her number Weiwei mumbled that her phone was stolen and hadn't been able to replace it yet. Xiao Nai nodded in understanding and gave her his number and asked what her schedule was as he escorted her to his car.
"Tomorrow is my study day. I usually spend the day in the library after my morning jog." Weiwei informed.
Xiao Nai asked to join her and upon her approval said that he would meet her outside her dorm before inquiring what time she normally leave for her jog. Getting the time and finding out which dorm building was her's he requested that she give him a call once she makes it up to her room. It took a few more minutes before he parked his car in front of her dorm and bid her goodbye for now.
True to her promise, once she entered her dorm she went straight to the phone and called Xiao Nai up. "I'm in my room." She stated. "Yes, I'm going to rest. Good night." She hung up and turned to her roommates. Waiting for the on slot. "I know that you have questions but please be gentle, my head is still sore."
"Weiwei, what happened? We heard that the Campus Bell attacked you and Xiao Nai called and said he's with you at the hospital. The school forum is blowing up." Erxi frantically asked.
Weiwei explained what she knew which wasn't much. She had been reading when pain erupted and blacking out. When she woke up she was in the hospital and Xiao Nai was there. She contemplated on telling them about Xiao Nai being her in-game husband but her head was truly hurting. All she wanted to do is change into her pajamas and call it a night. While her roommates wanted to get more details. But Weiwei put the line of conversation by stating they could ask Xiao Nai since he will be joining them for the morning jog before making a hasty retreat to the bathroom with pajamas in hand. The echos of "What" leaking through the bathroom door made Weiwei smile.
Xiao Nai wasted no time finding a place to park and to rush up to his old dorm room. He was silent as he entered and signalled for a laptop to see what Hao Mei was talking about. While his expression may have been calm inside he was anything but. How dare someone slander his wife's good name. The video was a tasteless attempt to show off Xiaoyu Yaoyao's so-called beauty as if such a harpy could hold a candle to his beautiful wife. Where Xiaoyu Yaoyao may have had a pretty face, she was vulgar, catty, and nothing but a nuisance in battle. How Zhenshui Wuxiang put up with such a useless woman he would never understand. Not that he was complaining, Zhenshui Wuxiang was a fool to discard Weiwei. But knowing how people believed that Luwei Weiwei was a bio-man because she was such a fierce player and didn't simper like other female players. But if anyone who has ever had a simple conversation with her could easily tell how femine her speech pattern is. Maybe it was because she didn't speak in false coyness that many other females used that he could not stand. Or maybe it was because she was blunt, which he secretly loved but will never dare admit outloud. It wasn't worth contemplating because she had already agreed to see where their relationship would go and he did not plan on allowing her to escape his grasp. But enough of that line of thinking he needed to focus on the matter at hand and that was Weiwei's so-called ex-husband and his new wife slandering Weiwei. Xiao Nai decided the direct approach would be the quickest way to stop this and to thoroughly crush the weak man Zhenshui Wuxiang was to challenge him to a duel. One that would hinder and humiliate him completely. He grinned evilly as did something he never does and posted in the global chat and challenged Zhenshui Wuxiang to a duel and he stated that he dangled some of the proverbial carrots to the duel stating that if Zhenshui Wuxiang won any of the three rounds that Zhenshui Wuxiang would win the duel. Xiao Nai also added that he would not be wearing two pieces of armor or use his pet during the duel. Now he only had to wait for the coward to show.
Yu Banshan smiled, "You are too cruel, Nai." The poor fool who dared to slander third sister in-law was in for a beating that he would soon not forget. While thinking of the third sister in-law made him think of the department bell that he left in the care of third brother. "By the way Nai, how is the department bell? Did she get back safely?"
"Department bell?" Qiu Yonghou interrupted. "What does the department bell have to do with this conversation?"
"You didn't hear?" Yu Banshan started. "While we were leaving Zhen Yi Technologies we saw Bei Weiwei in the lobby, then all of the sudden Meng Yiran threw a mug and hit the beautiful department bell in the head. You won't believe what happens next. Heck I don't believe it and I saw it with my very own eyes. Faster than a charging bullet our Xiao Nai reaches the department bell before she hit the floor. Scooped her up and had me rush us to the nearest was so unreal. But that's not the end of it. While I was checking in our department's bell guess who was sitting by her bedside?" Yu Banshan pointed to Xiao Nai who was paying little attention to Yu Banshan's storytelling.
"Weiwei needed help." is all that Xiao Nai uttered as he typed on the laptop in front of him.
"Weiwei!?" all three men shouted at disbelief that their moody friend would call any but his in-game wife by their first name.
"Wait, wait, wait… Third bro calling a girl by the first name and coming to her rescue. Driving her to her dorms. Something is not adding up. Who are you and what have you done to our third bro?" Hao Mei accused.
Xiao Nai just sighed before giving the three his attention. "Haven't you figured it out yet?"
"Luwei Weiwei, Bei Weiw- wait." Qiu Yonghou looked at third brother in shock. To which Xiao Nai just smirked.
"You mean Bei Weiwei is Luwei Weiwei and you already pocketed her?" Yu Banshan shouted in disbelief.
Xiao Nai paused and said "I told you seeing her there was not about you." and resumed his typing. He paid little mind to the other three. He was on a mission. He needed his wife's schedule because how else will he be able to protect her if he didn't know where she was. Of course he could have just asked Weiwei but this way was much more efficient. As he read her school records he had a surge of pride when he saw her grades. His wife was formattable. He is going to enjoy seeing just how his wife's mind works. He paused and looked up at Hao Mei to ask for him to get him whatever he could on Meng Yiran but do nothing. Oh no, he wasn't going to let his friends do anything to her. Xiao Nai personally was going to make her life a living hell. No one is going to injure his wife and not pay the price.
To say that Zhen Shaoxiang was annoyed by the time he went to bed was an understatement. First finding out that his cousin had injured a person at his father's company. Then finding out the person that she had injured happened to be his in-game ex wife whom he thought was a bio-man who was incredibly beautiful. Much more beautiful than his current girlfriend and in-game with he reluctantly admitted if only to himself. After grilling his cousin he found out that his ex wife and her current husband went to the same school as his cousin in the computer science department but nothing else that could help him. Once he got home he discovered that his doting girlfriend Yaoyao, released the couple's video on the game forum that bashed his ex wife. He was planning on telling her that they needed to make a new video when he got home tonight. Once he logged into Dreams of Jianghu he saw a system wide announcement of Luwei Weiwei's husband challenging him to a duel and made it a way that he could not refuse. Not that Zhen Shaoxiang could blame him. Losing those three levels was painful but he really could not blame the other man for wanting blood. Especially since Luwei Weiwei had been physically hurt. He just hoped that the man didn't see his cousin throw the mug. If he was this protective over a bit of slander in a game he hated to see what this Xiao Nai would do in real life. He also had a bit of a headache from arguing with Yaoyao about leaving Luwei Weiwei and her new husband alone. Stressing that they were in the wrong for making the video in the first place. Zhen Shaoxiang was at a loss the two females that were important in his life had made it pretty much impossible for him to make amends to Luwei Weiwei. He would bide his time for now and keep a distance from both Luwei Weiwei and her husband, Yixiao Naihe. Both online and offline. Just for now. Maybe in the near future he would try to woo Luwei Weiwei from her current game husband but now was not the time.
The girls were startled from their post outside the bathroom door waiting for Weiwei to open the door so they could get more information on why the illustrious Xiao Nai was going to be joining them tomorrow for their mandatory run by the sound of the dorm phone. Xiao Ling was the closest so she answered it. It took a few moments to recognize that it was Weiwei's student's mother trying to reach Weiwei. Xiao Ling explained over the phone that today Weiwei had to go to the hospital due to being injured and asked the woman on the other line to hold for a moment while she got Weiwei.
Weiwei had picked up the phone and apologized profusely explaining that she got hit in the head and that she was alright now. She asked if she could come in tomorrow afternoon to make up for it. But the woman on the other line told Weiwei to rest and that she and Xiao Yang would see Weiwei next week. After Weiwei hung up the phone realised that she was supposed to meet Cau Guang to prove that she wasn't seeing a sugar daddy but with everything that happened it completely slipped her mind. She told her friends but they told her to let them deal with him and his shoddy investigating skills. They ushered Weiwei to bed and began to plan. Cau Guang would not know what hit him by the time they were done with him. No one messes with one of their own and not pay the price. No one.
