Author's Notes: Both Xiao Nai and Weiwei's roommates are a bit more overprotective in this story because Weiwei was physically injured. While they are protective of her normally they tend to let her for the most part take care of her own issues because they know that she can take care of herself. They may in the original storyline do things out of revenge for Weiwei; they usually let her for the most part choose how to handle the issue. But in this story that has gone out of the window because for the first time she was physically hurt. No one would have thought that someone would hurt her in a way that Weiwei could not easily bounce back from like she would have if it was just another slander assault. Time would be the only thing that can heal her. They also know that Weiwei would not punish people as harshly as they believe that they should be punished at. So with them already on high alert over her they can and will go a bit overboard trying to protect and take care of her. Anyways, I don't own anything.
Chapter 5:
Breakfast was a bit more publicized than Weiwei would have liked but with a resigned realization melding into the shadows was not something that she could do with having such a high profile boyfriend. Weiwei knew that Xiao Nai was far from common as they come but when she agreed to a relationship it was the farthest thing from her mind at the time at his asking. She would just have to strive to be worthy of having such a boyfriend. First thing she would need to do is stop trying to blend in. Which will be hard for her. She has spent nearly her entire school career trying to blend in due to people seeing her looks and judging that she was nothing but a pretty face. She knew that Xiao Nai didn't think that she was just a pretty face or else he would not have tracked her down in game and apparently out of game as well. But the years of hearing people talk about her looks and not her achievements still grated on her. She chanced a look at Xiao Nai and he seemed to have a look of a small look of concern filtering in his eyes while the rest of him extruded the look of pure confidence. Weiwei realised right then that he understood what she was thinking of and sympathised with it. He was probably held to the same standards of good looks that she was but instead of hiding from it like she did he dismissed them without a second thought and forced people to pay attention to him in other ways. If only she was that brave. Maybe, just maybe he could be a role model for her to do the same.
"Weiwei." Xiao Nai looked at the beauty in front of him. Not sure how to get her mind off of whatever she was thinking of but willing to try to say the least.
"Why were you at Zhen Yi Technologies yesterday? I don't think that you were there for the internship interviews like I was." Weiwei abruptly asked before blushing at her bluntness. She was curious but she did not mean for her question to come out like that.
"You are looking for an internship?" Xiao Nai calmly put down his utensils and gave his in-game wife his full attention with a polite smile. Which caused Weiwei to further shrink into herself. Weiwei let a small nod of confirmation before lowering her eyes. "You don't need to apply elsewhere. There's a position with me." he smiled widely as Weiwei's head shot up and started doing an impression of a goldfish.
"With you?" Weiwei uttered when she was able to get her shock under a small amount of control.
"With me." Xiao Nai leant closer "Dear wife." whispering the last part. Cataloging the new level of crimson that his darling Weiwei's cheeks were currently.
Weiwei knew that her face had to be the same color as her cardigan at this point. Did Xiao Nai enjoy having all the blood in her body make a mad dash to her cheeks? She took a deep breath to try to get her fluster under some control before asking what her duties would be if she interned with him? To which he cheekily answered that the misses would need to take that up with the others. Their little tete a tete was interrupted by Xiao Nai's phone going off and Xiao Ling's number flashed across the screen. Curious Xiao Nai answered the phone before promptly handing the phone over to Weiwei without a word. Confused, Weiwei took the phone and greeted the person on the other side.
"Weiwei," Xiao Ling started. "The dorm's head is looking for you. She needs you to meet her at the president's office. The department dean is going to meet you there too."
"Xiao Ling, what's going on? Dorm head, Department dean? Am I in trouble?" Weiwei asked.
"They are working faster than I thought they would." Xiao Nai said as he started to stack their dirty trays.
Weiwei turned her attention to the man across from her. "What do you mean?"
"The incident yesterday made it to the faculty's notice," he replied like it was nothing.
Weiwei's head was spinning, the school knows what happened yesterday and they wanted to talk to her about it. She wasn't sure how she felt about it being brought to the school's attention; she had planned to just let it go and keep her distance from the other girl. Looks like she would not be able to ignore it and go about her life. Sighing, she let Xiao Ling know that she was on her way to the president's office and to let the Dorm head know.
"Why do I have a feeling that you had something to do with this?" Weiwei mumbled lowly which to her horror Xiao Nai heard and smiled widely. Shaking her head she allowed Xiao Nai to drop off their breakfast trays and lead her out to his waiting bicycle so he could navigate them to the campus's main building. Dating Xiao Nai was definitely going to take some getting used to. At this point she was not sure if her cheeks would be able to handle it. She half heartedly wondered if she should have tried dating in the past so she would know what she would be getting into now but quickly dismissed it. She was not one to date just to date.
Zhen Shaoxiang needed to find out more information about his in-game ex-wife which he could either attempt to speak to his cousin or find out the information a different way. He was debating on which way would give him the lesser headache and possibly keep the submission off what he was thinking of doing. First he would need to locate Luwei Weiweiand then formally apologize to her on behalf of his cousin. Next he would need to get her to get her focus on him which should not be hard. After all he was good looking, a good player, and rich; what more could a woman want in a potential mate? True, Yu Yao may not take it well but a few sweet words and a couple new handbags would take care of it. By that time Luwei Weiwei should be eating out of his hands and he would finally let her know his identity as Zhenshui Wuxiang. She would be begging for his forgiveness for not showing him her photo when he asked all those months ago. With that in mind he called his cousin up to do a meal with him. He was not expecting his aunt to answer the phone. Nor did he expect for his aunt to tell him that Meng Yiran was banned from leaving their home or to speak to anyone due to her attacking one of her classmates and the school was talking about expelling and possibly having her convicted for assault. While he understood that Yiran was in the wrong, the punishment seemed a little harsh to him.
"Surely a little funds in the right hands make all this go away?" he asked his aunt.
"Don't be crass!" his aunt reprimanded over the call. "While normally a few words and a donation would normally hush something like this up. That stupid child of mine injured is the highest ranking student of her year. The list of scholarships she has is mind boggling. Not only that much beloved by the faculty and if rumors are true dating the son of two of the school's high standing professors. Many of the school's faculty are out for blood and money won't make this just go away. All this over some boy.
The words washed over Zhen Shaoxiang. He was surprised that money would not just make this issue go away. He briefly thought he may need to rethink his plan but quickly dismissed it as soon as it entered his head. "So what is to be done?" he found himself asking.
"Your uncle and I will be heading out shortly to speak with Qing University's president and hopefully talk with the girl before this incident goes too far." his aunt replied.
This was too good of an opportunity to pass up. "Auntie, would you mind if I joined you? I was there but I was unable to stop my dear cousin's outburst. I feel that I should also apologize on behalf of Yiran. Not to mention it happened in the lobby of Father's company. Someone from the company should make amends as well."
Zhen Shaoxiang's mouth formed into a large grin when his aunt agreed to his plan. He wasted no time telling his aunt that he would meet her and his uncle at the University, making his way to his jeep and starting the car before he hung up. Looks like he was going to be able to see Luwei Weiwei sooner than he planned. His mind quickly formed a plan to offer her an internship at his father's company. He was guessing that she had come to the company yesterday to interview with the masses of college students. Not to mention it would make it easier to execute his plan by seeing her everyday. The possible boyfriend and in-game husband could cause some problems but limiting her contact with him it would be easy to break them up. He was looking forward to this meeting.
