A/N: After a long hiatus, chapter two is finally here! So, what kind of wackiness is going to happen? READ TO FIND OUT!

In Tokyo Bay, Kagura was swimming up to the surface. After all, it was the weekend and she just wants to relax and hang out with her newly made friends. But she clutched her throat, the place where her voice was kept. She knew full well that a mermaid's voice-their ability to produce a sweet-sounding melody that can captivate anyone- is precious to her kind. If it was removed from her, she'll become a human and lose her tail, her ability to breathe underwater and talk to aquatic creatures, everything. Still, she finally reached the surface of the water.

Just then, a larger creature surfaced the water at the same time as Kagura. It was a monster with a long, furry snout, seal-like front paws, and a fish tail. It was a cetus surfacing the waters, and it was here just to greet Kagura.

"I know, I know," Kagura giggled, petting the monster's snout, "It's just that I'm going up to the surface for a while."

And with that, Kagura jumps onto the land; the sunlight touched her coral red mermaid tail, which caused it to turn into a long skirt that resembles a fish tail, and underneath the skirt were human legs. The mermaid then stands up on her legs, but the wobbliness of her legs made her fall flat on the ground.

"Geez, And I thought standing on these feet was so easy to do!" Kagura thought, still struggling to stand on two legs. She then slips and falls into the water, and her legs were about to turn into a tail, but Kagura's willpower prevented that from happening.

"Man, walking on land is really hard to do!" Kagura said to herself, "Heck, swimming with my legs would be easier!"

Kagura then tried to swim with her legs. She kicked one leg, then the other. She was thankful for her webbed hands, which helped her swim in the cold waters of the bay. She then got onto the beach and then saw another mermaid on the shore, only she's screaming in pain.

"Kagura!" somebody yelled, and Kagura knew it came from Tomo.

"Tomo! You're here!" Kagura shouted back.

"Say Kagura, what's up with that screaming mermaid?"

"Oh, she's going through the splitting process for the first time."

"Splitting process?"

"What? Do you think that we mermaids poof our legs into existence? Well, when we become 10 years old and go to land, our fins shrivel up into and our tails split into two. And let me tell you, the process is painful!"

"Gura, if the process is painful, why you're not constantly screaming pain when you transform?!"

"I've been doing this for 5 years! This is like a paper cut to me!"

"You know what? I can also transform!"

"Tomo, you're a were-beast. And everybody knows that were-beasts can transform into a large animal whenever the full moon shows up."

"True, but I can also transform into a human!"

"How? No were-beast that I know of can turn into a human."

"That's because I'm actually half were-beast, half nekomata!"

"Nekomata… wait, where are your forked tails?!"

"Oh, my tail bow ties them together, so that's why you don't see them apart a lot. Say, where are your legs, cause from what I'm looking, you still have a tail!"

"Well… I don't like showing off my legs a lot due to the fact that I'll rather be my true self than walk around with these legs."

"Well, if you keep that skirt down, then you would be able to walk on land that easily!"

Tomo then reached towards Kagura's legs, but before she can do anything, a giant fox with nine tails appears in front of the two girls.

"Kit...kit..kit.." Tomo stutters, "KITSUNE!"

"Tomo, calm down," the fox spoke, "It's me, your P.E. teacher Kurosawa-sensei."

"But you don't look like Kurosawa-sensei!"

"Geez Tomo!" Kagura huffed, "Coach Kurosawa is in her true form, just like how I feel more like myself whenever I have my tail!"

"Kagura's speaking the truth," Kurosawa-sensei added, "Even though we are monsters, we have to keep our forms and abilities away from humans. If they found out the truth, who knows what's going to happen to us all. "

"Yeah yeah, Nyamo-chan!" Tomo retorted, "We know that if we go full monster, then the humans will, blah blah blah- can't we have some fun?!"

"Well, I could take Kagura to the Yokai Marketplace," Nyamo answered, "Also, why did you call me 'Nyamo-chan'?"

"I dunno," Tomo answered, "I overheard Yukari-chan calling you that and-"

"I should've known…" Nyamo sighed, "Well Kagura, climb on my back."

"Coach, you're in your fox form," Kagura said bluntly, "There might be a chance that I'll crush you."

"Oh, simpleton Kagura!" Tomo smugly said, "Us yokai can transform into animals that are rideable!"

"Oh yeah! Where's the proof?!"

Tomo then put her hands on the ground, and suddenly, the fur from her arms and legs started to cover the rest of her body, which is getting larger and more feline in appearance. Kagura then was in awe of the giant, two-tailed tabby cat that there where Tomo once was. The giant cat then walked to Kagura, giving off the same smile that Tomo would give.

"See?" Tomo smugly smile, "I told you so! Now climb onto my back!"

Kagura did just that, and Tomo and Nyamo went off to the Yokai Marketplace.

…

On the way to the Yokai Marketplace, Kagura saw some yokai, disguised as humans, were walking toward Meiji Shrine, which confuses the heck out of her.

"Coach Kurosawa," Kagura asked her teacher, "Why are there people going to Meiji Shrine?"

"Those aren't people, Kagura, they're yokai in disguise," Nyamo answered, "They gather towards Meiji Shrine because all shrines in Japan are gateways to the Yokai Marketplace. Monsters of course are able to go into the Yokai Marketplace, but humans are not allowed at that place."

"It's also the place where most yokai live after the Meiji Restoration!" Tomo added, "Including yours truly! In fact, you wanna sleep at my house for the night, Kagura?!"
"Sure thing, Tomo," Kagura answered, "Besides, this is going to be my first time sleeping out of the waters of my home."

Soon, the two yokai and the mermaid arrived at Meiji Shrine. Nyamo then walked up to the two komainu guarding the shrine.

"Mr. and Mrs. Kasuga," Nyamo announce to the two lion dogs, "I, Minamo Kurosawa, would like to enter the hone realm of our kind."

"Darlin', are ya sure that we should let them in?" Mr. Kasuga whispered to his wife.

"Ah think so," Mrs. Kasuga answered, "Besides, the priests hired us to guard the entrance to the Yokai Marketplace, and we can't let humans enter the realm."

"Don't worry, ma and pa," a voice said, "Kagura-chan and Tomo-chan and Kurosawa-sensei are allowed to enter the Yokai Marketplace."

Kagura and Tomo then realized that it was Ayumu in her lion dog form, which is a golden-furred beast with a red furry mane and tail.

"Ayumu!" I didn't expect you to be here!" Kagura said as she patted Ayumu's head, "Though, why are you here?"

"Komainu trainin'," Ayumu answered, "And you?"

"Well, Tomo decided to let me stay at her house, and besides, I haven't been to the Yokai Marketplace before."

"It's a wonderful place, Kagura-chan. Plus Ah've seen Sakaki-chan and Chiyo-chan enterin' the marketplace."

"SAKAKI-SAN AND CHIYO-CHAN ARE ALREADY HERE?!" Tomo shoued, "AYUMU, WHY DIDN'T YOU-"

"Tomo, will you stop overreacting?" said a familiar voice.

The others turned their heads around to see that Yomi's behind them, now looking like a giant navy-blue wolf with cerulean scales and a yellow mane on her back, two fluffy, yellow tails, and most unusually, four hindlimbs.

"Hehehe… Hey Yomi…." Tomo nervously said, " Nice fur day you had….."

"Tomo, I didn't have a bad fur day today," Yomi said back, "Also, why is Kagura on your back?"

"We're taking her to the Yokai Marketplace so she can stay at my place!" Tomo answered.

"Are you crazy?!" Yomi shouted, "Letting a mermaid in would only lead to-"

But Tomo, Nyamo, Ayumu, and Kagura are already in the Yokai Marketplace, and Yomi quickly followed them. As the girls entered the marketplace, Tomo, Yomi, Ayumu, and Nyamo turned back into their human forms, with Kagura getting off of Tomo's back.

"Hello, home," Tomo said, "We're back!"

As the girls and fox woman walked around the marketplace, Tomo spotted Chiyo and Sakaki marveling at the plushie stand.

"Ah! Yomi-san, Kagura-san, Tomo-chan, Ayumu-san, Kurosawa-sensei!" Chiyo said, "I didn't know that you're coming here."

"One, this is our homeland," Tomo said, "And two… Chiyo-chan, how hard is it to refer to me as 'Tomo-san'?"

"Uhm… I'm not used to changing the honorific for some-"

"CALL ME 'TOMO-SAN' AND YOUR LIFE WILL BE SPARED!" Tomo shouted as flames surrounded her.

"Okay, Tomo-san," Chiyo reluctantly said.

"Thank you!" Tomo said back.

"Jeez, you almost scared Chiyo-chan!" Kagura said to the cat girl.

"The perks of being a nekomata, Kagura!" Tomo smugly said, "You can control fire and the dead!"

"You are so messed up."

"Kagura, prepare to correct Tomo's every single boast," Yomi said.

"Thanks for informing me. Well, Tomo and I will be going to her home. We'll see you guys later."

"Bye-bye, Kagura-san!" Chiyo said, "I hope I get to see your home sometime!"

As the two girls walked towards Tomo's home, Kagura looked up to the twilight sky, as the stars started to twinkle.

"Hey, why are you looking at the sky?" Tomo asked Kagura.

"Oh, it's just that it feels so weird looking at the sky without the ripples of the waves," Kagura answered, "I mean, living under the sea for most of your life gives you weird perspectives in life."

"Yeah, I know how you feel. As a half-breed yokai myself, I feel isolated in this place. But ever since I've been in high school, I met many more friends, including you!"

"Well, I guess we have to be ourselves in these times, especially when humans are judging us."

"Yeah, we should. And looks like we're here!"

Kagura saw in awe as she saw Tomo's home, which is a giant Japanese-style building.

"This is your home?!" Kagura said in shock.

"Yep! The Inari Grand Hotel! Mom works here while dad's out in his police duty!" Tomo said, "So the kitsune that own the hotel decided to let us stay at their penthouse!"

"Man, you're a lucky cat!"

"I know, I know. Now let's go inside!"

The two girls entered the hotel, and Kagura was still in awe of the place. Many yokai and monsters were walking around, having some chit-chat with each other, and there are some kitsune tending to some monsters. Tomo then dragged Kagura to the penthouse elevator, the only elevator that has access to the penthouse. Once the elevator reached the top, the two girls walked into the penthouse, which was a huge place with two floors, a kitchen, and a large living room.

"Tomo, you just won the game of life," Kagura said in awe.

"Yep," Tomo said, "Along with my mom, dad, and little siblings!"

"Wait… LITTLE SIBLINGS?!"

As Kagura said that, an army of nekomata kittens tackled her at the same time, purring and playing with the mermaid's skirt. Then, an anthro two-tailed cat with long dark brown hair came towards Tomo.

"Tomo, you're back!" Mrs. Takino greeted, hugging her daughter and looking at Kagura, "So who is this?"

"Oh, this is my classmate and best friend Kagura!" Tomo answered, "She's a hot and a mermaid!"

"Tomo, this is not the time to flirt with me!" Kagura protested.

"Nya-ra nya-ra," Mrs. Takino sighed, "The youth these days. Well, I better go to work now. You two should go upstairs and hang out in the bedroom."

As Mrs. Takino went out, Tomo grabbed Kagura's hand and took her upstairs to her bedroom, with all of her little siblings following her. The two girls then entered the wildcat's bedroom, which was a mess.

"Tomo, is this your bedroom?" Kagura said, "Because this looks like a garbage dump!"

"Don't worry, it's still my bedroom!" Tomo said back, throwing Kagura a spare set of pajamas, "Now put these on!"

"Okay… but I don't really like wearing clothes over me when I'm sleeping."

"Wait, you sleep in the nude?!"

Kagura's face then turned red, "Are you this horny?!"

"Have you seen mom at work?! She gets really, really horny!"

"That explains so much…"

"Yeah, it does. So how do you sleep then?!"

"Oh, I get encased in a mucus sleeping bag when I sleep."

"So, you're like a parrotfish?!"

"In a sense, yeah."

"In that case, you can sleep in the hot tub!"

"Thanks, Tomo."

"You're welcome!"

Kagura then walked downstairs to the first floor and found the hot tub. She then takes a drip, which turned her legs into her mermaid tail. She then fully submerge herself in the water, and mucus started to come out of her gills, covering her in the slime and forming a cocoon. She then went into a deep sleep, thinking about the wonderful day she had.

A/N: So I introduced the Yokai Marketplace in this chapter, which will be the area where most of the out-of-school scenes will happen. I also introduce Nyamo in the series, though a chapter featuring her and Yukari is coming soon!
