Appearance Deceived
A/N: A new fully fledged rock and roll AU. As someone who loves rock n metal, I figured I'd give this AU another shot. Take note, I have commissions open for two cents per word, but this is free. Having to look at my 2018 writing to make things different gave me hives, but I really hope you guys enjoy reading this as much as I'll enjoy writing it. Also here's the song: Manifest by Starset
"Legacy, Legacy, Legacy!" the crowd chanted as the band came onstage.
Sandy looked down at her phone, she sighed as it read 11 pm. Randy was supposed to be on after them.
Fall in and fall away
This love is in retrograde
She looked up as the singer's voice reached her and the drums kicked in. She jumped as the heavy guitar came in.
I kinda think you like this
She finally looked at the main cause for the crowd going wild and screaming along. A black and red hedgehog sang into the mic, reaching down to touch a couple hands. Her phone buzzed with a text from Randy asking where she was.
Me: I'm at the venue, you're on after Legacy, right?
Randy: I'm on right now. You at the wrong venue?
Sandy looked around her and slowly realized she was at the wrong venue. People around her wearing mostly black and the venue was decidedly too dark for her to see her own feet. She moved through the crowd, yelping as she was grabbed and shaken by chipmunk passing by.
She had to go support Randy, but with the size of this crowd and how active they were it seemed impossible.
"Hey, hey, no mosh pits!" someone on stage said.
And it was so loud. Louder than a Cheeks family reunion that was for sure. Sandy growled, pushing her way through the crowd and getting them even more riled up. She was almost to the door until someone bumped into her, taking her to the hard, sticky ground.
What was wrong with people? No band could be worth all this trouble. She groaned, standing up and noticing how quiet and still the crowd had suddenly gotten. She was only aware of the spotlight on her and the lead singer of the band now.
"Don't y'all have any manners?" she yelled, poking the man in the chest and grimacing at how sweaty he was. She didn't give him time to speak as she continued. "What kinda show is this anyway?"
The man smiled then, answering, "It's a rock concert, but I'm sorry you had to go through this to—"
Sandy held a hand to stop him, snatching the shirt the blue squirrel bassist tossed at the lead singer, and stomped out. She headed into the bathroom to change, grumbling under her breath over how unprofessional the venue was.
Sandy sighed, making it to the correct venue before Randy finished. She slid into a nearby booth, quietly ordering a drink as she watched her brother perform. It had taken him years to be sold out as a country musician and she wasn't about to miss it because of some stupid band she never heard of.
