I dug eagerly into the bag, pulling out the burger and unwrapping it, waiting for an answer to my question. I bit into the food, closing my eyes and enjoying the taste of it, and Castiel finally answered me.

"Perhaps, depending on what the favor is."

I swallowed my food, and unfurled my wings behind me. "I have a cramp, and the only way to fix it is a good flight. Would you be willing to take me somewhere safe, where I can fly?"

I took another bite of my burger while the angel pondered my request.

"I suppose if I am there to make sure no one discovers you, it would be fine. We should hurry before Sam and Dean return. If they came back and we were gone they would be suspicious."

I nodded quickly and stood, folding my wings against my back once again. "Let's go then. We passed some woods and field areas on the way to the town, maybe twenty minutes east of the motel."

I headed out the door, bringing my food, and Castiel followed. We got into his car and I finished the meal as he drove, heading out of the town. We drove for about fifteen minutes before I saw a nice takeoff spot.

"Cas, there." I pointed to a small pull-off surrounded by trees but open in the middle. The angel pulled the car off the road, parking it, and turned it off. Before the sound of the engine fully left my ears I was out of the car, running towards the small clearing. As I ran, I lowered myself slightly, angling my upper body to hold my weight parallel to the ground. As I broke through the treeline I spread my wings to their full sixteen foot span and jumped, pushing down hard with my legs and wings as I took to the sky. I flapped quickly, gaining altitude, and barely cleared the tops of the trees across the clearing.

A laugh escaped as I soared up into the clear blue sky, no clear ceiling, no cage, no walls. Nothing to stop me from flying forever. I flapped even harder, angling upwards, and found a steady current. I spread my wings a bit more, shifting them down, and let the wind carry me. The effort of getting me into the air from the ground had more than worked the kinks out of my back and wings, and I glided, the wind rustling my feathers and tangling my hair as I soared. I hit an updraft and let it lift me, then tilted my left wing, angling it down, and turned out of the current.

I looked back to the clearing as I glided closer, my eyes refocusing to compensate the distance. I could see Castiel standing in the clearing, looking up, and I angled down slightly. I circled the clearing from a couple hundred feet up, keeping watch that there were no approaching vehicles. After one car passed, the roads were clear, and I tucked in my wings, rocketing downwards towards the clearing. About three quarters of the way down I quickly flipped my body down feet first and fully opened my wings. The wind caught, slowing me as I drifted down past the tree line.

I landed with a soft fhwump as my feet hit the soft earth, and dust swirled around, loosened from the impact, and shimmered gold in the sunbeams as it settled. I folded my wings, the sun glinting off the black primaries that ran along the bottom part the topside of my wings, the grey and white feathers above them less iridescent in the sunlight. The undersides were a shadowy grey, speckled with black, catching my eyes as my wings folded around me slightly.

I turned to see Castiel looking at me curiously, and I gave a tentative smile. I'd seen that look before, in the face of every scientist I'd ever known.

"Incredible, humanity continues to astound me, in both its creativity," He paused, eyes darting to the healing scars on my face, "and in its cruelty. You are truly one of my fathers creations."

My smile became sincere, a warmth rushing to my face as my wings folded in closer, sheltering me. "Thank you, Castiel, but I think I'm the furthest thing from a creature of God." My smile fell as I turned away, "I'm as much of a monster as the things we will be hunting."

Before the angel had a chance to answer, I spun on my heel, pulling my wings in against my back. "We should head back, before Sam and Dean get back and notice that we're gone. You said yourself that it would make them suspicious."

Castiel sighed, "You are correct, we should go." We walked to the car in an awkward silence, and once we were inside, Castiel sighed.

"Was it everything you hoped it would be?"

A smile crossed my face, "Oh, Castiel, it was wonderful. To feel the freedom and the wind in my face, real wind! I wish I could make you feel it, Castiel."

He nodded, smiling, "I miss it."

I blinked, looking over, "You, you fly?"

He shook his head, "Not anymore, no. I lost my grace, what makes me an angel, a few months ago. And with that I lost my wings. I flew much faster, across dimensions, but I still remember. None of my brothers and sisters can fly now, because of my trusting the wrong person, they were cast out. They fell from Heaven, down here to Earth."

I frowned, "The meteor shower a few months ago...that was the angels, wasn't it?" He nodded, "Yes, so I am here with Sam and Dean, and now you, to help right the wrong I caused."

I nodded, "Well, if Sam and Dean are keeping you around, clearly they trust you."

The angel smiled, "Yes, they are the closest I have left to family now. They would still trust you as well, if you told them the truth. They are great men."

I sighed, "I've known far too many great men' Castiel. I would like to see if they are good."
