Chapter 1: Endings and Beginnings

Bella, my dearest sister,

I am sure that you have heard by now what I have done. I am sorry for leaving you as the only sister staying within the confines of pureblood society, but I could not raise my son in such a place; he deserves better. Lucius had such awful plans for his future, and I could not let him carry them out on my beloved Draco. You will understand when you become a mother. I love him too dearly to let his mind be twisted as most pure-blooded men's minds are. You must understand what I mean.

You have seen, met, Draco, dearest Bella. He is wonderful and sweet, kind and considerate. I want him to grow up, Bella, keeping those characteristics. I want him to be loving to his wife, one day, and able to see people without analysing them. This is my dream, sister, my dream that I hope to achieve by stealing him away. No, that is not my confession for kidnapping him - I did no such thing. As his mother, I have the right to do what I see as best for Draco, and what is best is to take him away.

I am going to disappear, Bella, so do not tell Lucius about this letter – it is better that he marries quickly and moves on. His new wife will grant him many children, I am sure, as I hope I would have done had I stayed.

I hope that you will soon be able to supply Rodolphus with an heir, and that this affair you have going on will not come to his attention. I love you Bella, and I will always love you. A bond of blood cannot be easily broken. I wish you all the best, sister, in your life, and I sincerely hope that feeling of goodwill is returned.

All my love,

Cissy, Narcissa, your sister.

Andy, sister,

I have not been kind to you in these past years. I have scolded you for falling in love with the wrong person; now I see that you were right to leave our corrupt society, and live a good life with Ted (I believe his name is that). One day, I hope to meet him, and tell him all the stories of a younger you.

Years ago, I vaguely heard that you and Ted had a child – Nymphadora, I believe, though why you had to continue with the foolish practice of giving awful names to our children is another question entirely – and I never congratulated you. So, consider these exceptionally belated congratulations, and many happy birthdays to Nymphadora (please tell me she has a nickname. Dora, or even Tonks after her last name).

I am sure you are wondering about some comments in this letter. I shall explain: I have run away from Lucius, taking our newborn baby son – Draco – with me. I am going to disappear with Draco into either the Muggle or more accepting magical world – more likely the latter. My love for Draco is what convinced me to leave for I could not bear to see my son grow up in such a cold and unfeeling world. The Purebloods would have raised him to become a harsh man, not the sweet child he is now.

So, dearest Andy, it seems you were right all along. I love you dearly, but anything I might have to do with you may lead Lucius to me, and I do not wish to return to that awful place. I wish I could see you now, and meet Ted and Nymphadora. I am sure that they are wonderful, just as I remember you were.

All my love,

Cissy, Narcissa, your sister.

Dear Regulus,

You have heard what has happened, I do not doubt it, but I know, in some ways, you will take my side. Please do not make these opinions too obvious, if you even have such opinions. I wish this did not have to be the last thing I say to you; I wish I could give you a long embrace, and tell you, in person, that you can escape as well.

You have been so kind to me, Reggie, and I hope you can understand why - why this has all happened, and why I have fled. I hope one day you can do the same thing. I hope someday you can leave forever and never look back.

Regulus, you attempted to convince me not to marry Lucius all those years ago. I wish I had listened. It is all in the past now, though, so I should not dwell on it much longer. You were always so suspicious, dearest Reggie, of Lucius and what he was doing. I brushed you off each and every time, because I could not dare admit to myself what was truly happening. It is so easy, Regulus, to put on a brave face, to put on a fake smile.

You were right: about it all. It seems I could never hide anything from you for long; I beg your forgiveness that I had to hide this. This, my biggest secret. Well, I wish it were my biggest secret - I have some much more heavy; secrets that press down on my shoulders. One day, I will tell you.

For now, though, I have but one thing to ask: erase my name and my son's name from the family tree hanging in 12 Grimmauld Place. Not just burn them, as your mother would have done, but remove them as if we never existed. I plan to disappear and not be known again as Narcissa Malfoy, or Black. One day, we may see each other, but I will no longer be Narcissa.

Before I finish, I wish to tell you that Draco, my son, will not forget you nor will I, and that he will grow knowing his Uncle Reggie, as I am sure you will have wished to be known. When I have found a place, Regulus, I will come back for you. I promise.

All my hope and love,

Cissy, Narcissa, your friend.

Hello Sirius.

I'm sure you have recognised my handwriting, and you have gone to throw this letter in the fire. Before you do that, can you read it? A small favour to ask, a simple favour. I hope that even you can accomplish it.

I have run away. Do not tease me, saying that I have copied you, because I did not do it for the same reasons you did. My son, Draco, was born two weeks ago… Lucius was already planning to rear him into the "perfect pureblood boy". That is not what I wish for my son. You have seen with your own eyes what Pureblood boys can become; I wish my Draco to keep his gentleness and compassion.

I am going to disappear, Sirius. If Regulus, your brother, does what I wish I will be erased from the tapestry. I plan to vanish completely as if Narcissa Malfoy (nee Black) and her son Draco Malfoy never existed. I shall reemerge, and not even you will be able to recognise me. One day, Regulus may join me.

Congratulate James and Lily for me. I heard of their baby due, and it gives me great delight to hear. I am sure it will bring great joy to your life, and theirs, as Draco has to mine. You will be Uncle Sirius, I am sure.

What I really wanted to say though, Sirius, is: I am truly, deeply sorry. I have been rude and unkind throughout my life to you, and to others. I beg your forgiveness and please apologise on my behalf to Lily: being Muggleborn is no crime. I wish deeply that I could say sorry to everyone I ever hurt. I know full well how many there are, and that I could never beg forgiveness of all of them, but I can try.

You will never see me again, Sirius. At least, I shall not be me. All my love,

Narcissa.

Bellatrix Lestrange threw the letter in the fire the moment she finished it. It was satisfying to watch it burn and crumble under the pressure of the flames. Her sister was a disgusting, pathetic mess, and Bellatrix would have nothing more to do with her. Lucius Malfoy was a good man, one of the best, and Narcissa had been lucky to have him. They had been the perfect couple - the fury of Malfoy mixed with the beauty of Narcissa. She was an idiot to desert her family like Bellatrix's other stupid sister – Andromeda – who had married a Mudblood. Apparently, Bellatrix was the only Black sister who had come to something. Mother and Father should have expected it. Andromeda and Narcissa had always been foolish weaklings. Bellatrix had hoped she could be a good influence, but apparently they were too far gone. Good riddance to Andromeda. Good riddance to Narcissa. Good riddance to everyone out there who did not respect the authority of Purebloods.

Bellatrix gave a twisted smile as she heard a voice calling to her. A deep male voice, holding the power of authority. Narcissa was right about the affair - Bellatrix was sure it would never come to Rodolophus's attention. If it did... well, they knew how to deal with that.

Andromeda burst out crying once she'd finished her sister's letter. Her husband, Ted, found her there an hour later, glanced over the letter and enveloped her in a hug. It reminded Andy once again why she'd left - that love conquered all divides.

For years, Andy had hoped that her sisters – at least one – would come to their senses and leave. This would not have been the situation she'd wanted to have happen. Never see darling Cissy again.

Nymphadora appeared downstairs for dinner only a few minutes later, and was surprised to see her normally collected mother sobbing into her dad's arms. Her dad signalled for her to read the letter, which she did in shock, and she fell in love with the joking nicknames her Aunt had suggested. Aunt Narcissa had retained some humour it seemed through all the years with the Purebloods.

That evening, Nymphadora announced that she would like to be called either Tonks or Dora from then on.

Andy started crying again.

Regulus Black couldn't quite believe his ears when he heard about Narcissa running away. When he got her letter, however, he had to accept it was true… and work out whether he was going to help her. It was a big risk to take. Was it worth it?

He'd been friends with Narcissa since they'd been introduced – even though they were years apart they'd found familiar ground – and had tried to convince her not to marry Lucius in the first place, just as she had mentioned in the letter.

Now, he had a choice, and he knew what path he would take. Quietly, he slipped down the stairs and into the tapestry room. Narcissa's name was already burnt out, but that still proved she was alive. Whispering the spell, Regulus smirked as he saw the two names disappear. There was no proof in this house that Narcissa and Draco Malfoy had ever existed.

Now, all he had to do was survive until Cissy returned.

Sirius Black would have thrown the letter straight into the fire if it wasn't for his best friend's wife. Lily Potter just had to intervene. Snatching it out of his hands, opening it, and then she'd read it out loud for all the house to hear – Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew and James Potter.

As Lily had read the letter, Sirius had had to choke back tears. Not because Narcissa had managed to escape but because of the kind words written. Because Narcissa, who had been cruel and cold, had apologised for her wrongdoings and congratulated Lily on her baby, congratulated Sirius because she had seen how much his friends had meant to him. Maybe Narcissa hadn't been so ignorant and oblivious as he thought.

At the end, Sirius had snatched the letter off Lily (who was unashamedly crying) and disappeared off to the coming baby's room. He would never see Narcissa again, be able to thank her, and help her see how good everyone was. For the first time since Andy, Sirius truly, deeply wanted to see someone from his pureblood background.

And he never would.

Narcissa Black had left four months ago. She had had four months of freedom. In those months, she had erased her name, and her son's, from everywhere and replaced them with other names. Narcissa, herself, was now a Muggleborn witch with a young son. To disguise her bright blonde hair she had charmed it and changed her entire wardrobe to make her less recognisable. Draco was still young so there was hardly any hair to charm but, in the future, precautions would be taken. But, for now, Narcissa and Draco Malfoy were free. However long that might last.

Lucius Malfoy remarried a year after his first wife's disappearance. Elladora Riddle, youngest daughter of Tom Riddle and his wife, was an obedient woman with pretty black hair and clear skin. Within a month, she was pregnant.

No one knew that Lucius's ex-wife watched the events unfold, a sad smile on her lips, and a hint of tears in her eyes.

Sirius heard from Narcissa twice a year. First, on his birthday, a present and a card arrived, signed by mother and son (as he grew older). Second, at Christmas, a bar of chocolate alongside another present.

Andromeda, after Sirius contacted her, revealed she had the same. However, it wasn't just on her: Dora and Ted also got presents on birthdays and Christmas.

The cousins shared theories on where Narcissa and Draco had gone, but they respected Narcissa's wishes and never pursued them.

No one knew that a third person received gifts. Regulus's great joy in life was the small presents he got twice a year. He told no one, keeping the small packages hidden away.

So, I've done this before, and I'm now reposting. Hi everyone again! Please REVIEW, and let me know what you think. If you've read this before, some of the "cliffhangers" will no longer be "cliffhangers". Sorry about that! As well as that, if you have read this before, try and notice the differences - I promise there are some! For those who haven't read before, I know it's short and there's lots of jumps, but this is just the intro! In two weeks times - the next bit! While you're waiting, let me know what you think and REVIEW!

Just to clarify a few things before I go:

1) Voldemort is NOT a thing! Elladora Riddle is his youngest daughter (out of two, he has Callidora) from a wife that will not be mentioned. This means that James and Lily are still alive (yay!), and Sirius is not in prison (double yay!).

2) I'm sorry for all Wolfstar fans, but this is unfortunately NOT a Wolfstar AU. Remus/Sirius will not be happening. I know, I know, they're cute, but this story just went a different way.

3) Finally, some of these characters will be based off of characters from whydoyouneedtoknow's Dangerverse. They won't be direct steals, but you CAN notice the similarities. If you haven't read the DV, GO READ IT! It's incredible!

Thanks for coping with my longgggg comment, and I promise they won't always be this long!
