Chapter 4: Hollow be Thy Name

Eons ago at a small church in Japan

Father Komori lit some candles around the altar in preparation for his annual prayer of peace and forgiveness.

Forgiveness for allowing the council of elders to send his only daughter to her death and that she found peace with God.

It was a regretful decision he made ten years ago, one that almost had him walking away from his duties.

At the time, it was a case of the single sacrificial lamb to save the lives of many. It was the agreement the Church made to keep the King of Vampires satisfied.

He cursed the name Karl Heinz ever since he had sent his daughter away, yet there was nothing he could do about it save live with his regrets.

He knelt down in front of the altar of the empty cross, opening with the Lord's prayer.

"Our Father, who art in heaven…" he began to say before hearing the sound heels clacking on the cobblestone.

"Hallowed be thy name. His kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen" a sultry-sweet voice said.

Father Komori couldn't believe his eyes, in a beautiful but dark outfit stood a woman he thought he had lost.

"Yui" Komori whispered, "You're alive."

"Hello daddy" Yui said with a smile, "It's been awhile since we last saw each other."

"If you were alive, why didn't you contact me?" Komori asked.

"I tried to, but you didn't answer" Yui's voice became grim, "You left me to die and never came to rescue me from danmation."

As Yui approached the man she thought was her father, the light from the candles illuminated her features. Her skin was extremely pale, while her hair had grown down past her shoulders. She grew quite a bit and by many definitions was the apex of female beauty.

He would be proud of how much she has matured, if it wasn't for her slit irises and protruding porcelain fangs.

"No" Komori squeezed his answers, "So his sons have corrupted my lovely girl into a monster."

Inwardly, he wished he brought his vampire hunting weapons so he could end her cursed existence.

"That's a cruel thing to say to your daughter" Yui scoffed, "But that should be expected from a ruthless vampire hunter such as yourself."

Komori's eyes widened, how did she find out about his secret?

"You seemed surprised" Yui observed, "I found your diary and my husband even told me about how he hired you to kill his mother."

That's right, he had killed Beatrix Sakamaki. He didn't understand why one of her sons would pay him to exterminate his own flesh and blood, but the only good vampire was a dead one.

"I never meant for you to find out" Komori shook his head, "Perhaps that was my second mistake."

"Why didn't you?" Yui frowned, "You could've saved me, yet you allowed...the council to send me as the next sacrificial bride."
"I didn't have a choice" Komori replied.

"You just sinned on holy grounds" Yui smirked, "Yet God still sees you as his loyal servant, but he forsakes me. No wonder why my husband and his brothers despise him."

"You forsaken yourself" Komori frowned, "I can smell it on you, you killed an innocent child before coming here."

Suddenly, Komori was slammed into the altar and immobilized by one of Yui's heeled feet. It suddenly dawned on him that she carried the strength of royal blood.

"I didn't ask for this!" Yui shouted, "I didn't ask to be betrayed by the man I called my father, I didn't ask to become a vampire, and I most certainly didn't ask for triplets mother's heart to be inserted into my chest!"

"You...have Cordelia's heart?" Komori said as blood trickled down his face, "I'm sorry my child, perhaps I am being too callous."

"At least you acknowledged as much" Yui calmly said, "But you're right, I am a monster, a vengeful one created by your inaction."

"I see" Komori sighed, "So my daughter is dead and a demon wears her skin. I assume you're going to kill me?"

"That's right" Yui laughed, "Call it your atonement. You're a murderer who deserves the same punishment as every other killer: Death."

A scream was heard and loud noises rattled outside the sanctuary walls.

"Seems like they got too impatient" Yui smirked, "Can't blame them, I'm rather parched myself."

"What?" Komori gasped, "Don't tell me…"

"I'm cutting off all ties to my human life" Yui explained, "I mean, who will miss a small church with a corrupt council. I even decided to destroy this place once I heard you got admitted into the council, as a celebration gift to my beloved father."

"You spawn of Satan" Komori grimaced as the commotion continued.

"Perhaps, though I am still learning about our history" Yui mused, "Anyways, any last prayers dearest father?"

"I failed to protect you" Komori looked into her devilish eyes, "But I hope you burn in hell, vampire."

"Not that I have a choice" Yui said before she restrained the priest. Swiftly and not so cleanly, she punctured the man's artery and drank him dry. Throwing his remains onto the altar, she summoned demonic fire and lit the body ablaze.

Just before leaving to rejoin Reiji and the brothers, she got down on her knees and began to pray.

"In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.

In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest. The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit Forever and ever. Amen." Yui whispered before making her way out of the building.

Humming Amazing Grace, the hymn she loved the most.

A/N: This chapter was inspired by a fanfic called Alone, where Yui and the brothers destroy the council that sends the brides to their manor.
