Kolonaki, Athens, Greece. 2018.
Kanon POV
"I'll never get on a motorcycle with you again, even if you pay me" said Saga, removing the helmet from his head "you don't know the concept of traffic rules. I wonder how the Greek police still let you ride a motorcycle."
"So go to therapy by bus, from now on" Kanon replied, also removing his helmet "I won't be taking people who don't even know how to say a 'thank you'".
"I would if you didn't piss me off to take me" Saga said.
"And you want me to let you take the bus for what? To throw up, like last time?" Kanon asked nervously.
"You know it's not my fault, it's the medicine!" exclaimed Saga.
"Please guys, no fighting!" Aiolos said, walking towards the twins. Behind him was Aiolia, with a backpack on his back "we were waiting for you, why did you take so long?"
"The traffic in Athens was terrible" said Kanon "I could have passed between the cars with the bike, but this scaredy-eyed one didn't let me" he completed, pointing to Saga.
"I think there is a huge difference between being scared and wanting our lives to be spared" Saga said.
"I've never been involved in traffic accidents."
"Yet."
Aiolos sighed.
"Guys" said Aiolia, who seemed a little apprehensive "shall we go in? I think they are waiting for us already."
Kanon looked at the facade of the headquarters of the so-called Graad Foundation, or rather, the mansion of the Graad Foundation. The headquarters were in the Kolonaki neighborhood, one of the most chic and expensive regions in Athens. Of course, Greece's Most Beloved Foundation would be there, as Saori Kido did not skimp when it came to showing everyone that she was rich, very rich. The mansion had several Ionic pillars and in front of them there was a huge wooden door. They stopped in front of the door and pressed the bell.
"When you told me you had an older brother" said Aiolos "I didn't think it was your twin, Kanon."
"Ah, but Saga loves saying to me that he was born 22 minutes and 36 seconds earlier. Isn't it, Saga?" Kanon asked, ironically.
"They're only 22 minutes older, but it feels like it's been a lifetime, just the way you are" grumbled Saga.
"By the way, I also did not imagine that you had a twin, Aiolos" said Kanon, looking at the boy identical to his lawyer, taking out a few differences. The boy had the lightest and most unruly hair, a blond beard and mustache. He also looked a little more casual than Aiolos, who was wearing a blazer, shirt and dress pants, while Aiolia wore a band shirt, jeans and sneakers, in addition to having a piercing near his right eyebrow and another in his nose.
"Oh, no" Aiolia said "Olos is seven years older than me. My name is Aiolia."
"Wow, but it looks like you two are twins" exclaimed Saga "they even have similar names!"
"Good thing our mother didn't have that idea" said Kanon "God forbid I look like Saga and have a name similar to his."
"Fuck you, Kanon" Saga said.
Aiolos and Aiolia laughed and soon a security guard answered the door and invited them inside.
The mansion was a luxury, which was to be expected from Greece's Most Beloved Socialite. The entire mansion was an attempt to recover neoclassical architecture from the 19th century. Entering the mansion, they were faced with a huge hall, filled with statues of Greek gods and heroes and Renaissance paintings. In front of the boys was a huge marble-floored staircase, which branched in two, leading to the second floor. Behind the stairs, a huge stained-glass window, with angels and creatures singing and playing harps and lyres.
Security invited them to go upstairs and wait for the meeting while they admired the building with their mouths open. When they arrived at the office, they realized that it was not just the lobby that was luxurious; more Renaissance statues and paintings, a huge table of some noble wood, which made Kanon wonder how many native families must have been driven from their territories for that table to be there, in front of them. The security guard went out and closed the large wooden door, leaving them alone, who sat in the four chairs that faced the table.
"Chic, right?" Aiolia said.
"What to expect from Saori Kido?" Saga sighed "of course all this here would be a luxury. Did you see the works down there? It wouldn't surprise me if she had bought one of those paintings at some auction for millions of dollars."
"By the way, what are you doing here, Aiolia?" said Kanon "are you some kind of slave intern of Aiolos?"
"No" said Aiolia, laughing "it's just that I got a scholarship from the Graad Foundation. My interviewer asked me to come to the foundation's headquarters for another stage of my exchange scholarship."
Aiolos stared at Aiolia, narrowing his eyes.
"I want to see what your interviewer will think when she sees a law student with two piercings in his face" said Aiolos.
"Olos, nobody cares about piercings anymore. Not even in his college days did people care" Aiolia said.
"Of course they care. What do you think your interviewer will say when she sees that, from the week before last, you invented putting two piercings in that face of yours?" said Aiolos "What's her name...?"
"For your information" Aiolia began "Marin is very young. If she's older than I am, she should be at most a couple of years. And not everyone is a starch like you, Olos."
"Don't you think you have a very small age difference to have a generational conflict?" Kanon asked, laughing "He looks like a conservative father fighting with his rebellious son."
"Ah, but Aiolos thinks he's my father, he's always been like that" Aiolia said.
"You do not understand. When you were born and daddy died..."
"He will start again."
"I had to become responsible for you and be the man of the family..."
"We already talked about this being sexist, Olos."
"But I had to become responsible! For you and for Mom!"
"Olos, your client is seeing you fighting with me."
"I love it, you can continue" said Kanon.
"Kanon!" exclaimed Saga.
The four laughed.
A few minutes passed while the four of them checked their cell phones in silence. The whole situation bothered Kanon, who had a sixth (and even seventh) sense for situations that could lead to confusion. After all, why hasn't anyone come to talk to them until now? It's okay that his business was with Saori Kido and talking to her could earn him a few hours of waiting, since the socialite must think that neither he, nor Saga nor Aiolos has anything to do this Saturday afternoon. By the way...
"Aiolia" asked Kanon "did the interviewer ask you to attend the interview on the same day that Aiolos and I would talk to Kido?"
"Yes" said Aiolia "strange, isn't it? It was quite a coincidence. But I think they must already know that Olos is my brother."
"I thought about it too, Kanon" said Aiolos "but what would they want with my brother? He is not a serious threat."
Aiolos had barely finished his sentence, and four huge security guards entered the room, locking the door.
"Hey guys" said Saga, with wide eyes "I think we just became a serious threat."
"Oh, Saori, really?" snorted Kanon "who would have guessed that you would kidnap us?"
Before they could fight, the four officials immobilized them, placing black hoods over their heads, threatening them with weapons and tying their fists. The last thing Kanon felt was a sting in his arm and a numbness in his body before he passed out from the drug.
This chapter and the next one were originally supposed to be one chapter. But as I didn't want a very long chapter, I decided to split it in two. But I can say that finally, the action will begin! I hope you enjoyed.
