A blood-red night sky covered the Kalos region and the damage to Lumiose City increased. Ash and Alain were fighting hard against Lysandre to stop him from destroying the world. Ash, however, was starting to lose pokemon as the battle progressed. Meanwhile, Scarlet and Clemont managed to get into the Lumiose gym. They carefully assessed the situation and Clemont ordered Luxray to use Electric Terrain. Then Xerosic came out of hiding and asked, "What's all the ruckus?" He then saw Clemont and Scarlet. He laughed, "Well it looks like we have some uninvited guests. What are Bryony and the others doing?" Their conversation escalated into a heated battle. Scarlet stepped back to let Clemont reclaim his gym. Xerosic noticed that Scarlet had stepped back and seemed to be leaving this battle in the hands of the gym leader. He pulled off a sly smile. Xerosic was going to try and get her involved in their fight. Scarlet saw Xerosic's sly smile. This made her uneasy and she changed the position of her stance. Clemont saw Scarlet's mood change, but he stayed focused and knew he needed to be careful as Xerosic was now considered unpredictable.
Ash and Alain continued to fight Lysandre, however, Ash became distracted when he felt his sister's uneasiness. Alain noticed that Ash was wavering and became concerned. Lysandre saw Ash wavering and a smirk crossed is face. Alain then looked at Lysandre and learned that he had seen Ash waver. Alain the said, "Ash snap out of it. We haven't lost yet. We can still win this." Ash replied, "It's not me. It's Scarlet." Alain then realized that Ash and Scarlet were mentally linked with each other. Ash wasn't wavering it was Scarlet who was wavering. Understanding what was going on, Alain responded, "We'll cover for you. Find out why your sister is wavering." Ash nodded and then he contacted Scarlet through their mental link. Unannounced to them, Lysandre had already picked up on Ash's weakness. His sister, Scarlet. If either one of them is hurt, then the other would be also affected. Lysandre knew of these two siblings. He knew Scarlet would try to save her brother, so he and Xerosic developed a plan to eliminate her. He hoped Xerosic had already started to go forward with the plan. Ash said to Scarlet, Sis, what's wrong? Why are you wavering? Scarlet heard her brother's voice and she replied, Ash the man in the gym. He's giving off a very odd looking face. It's making me nervous. Ash then realized that something else was going on underneath their feet. He responded, Scarlet keep your guard up, stop wavering, and be ready for anything that might come your way. Don't let him see you tremble. I have a feeling that something else is going on that we are not yet aware of. Scarlet communicated, Alright, you be careful, dear brother. Don't let Lysandre fool you with his lies. Ash agreed and they disconnected. He continued battling hoping and praying that his sister would be alright.
Meanwhile, Bonnie was chasing after Squishy. Gary and Blaziken Mask raced after Bonnie. They caught up with her, but Bonnie insisted on going after it. Gary could see how much Squishy meant to Bonnie. They both decided to help her. Miles away, Serena was helping Marin and Professor Sycamore. They manage to infiltrate the base and they went to find Marin's Chespin. Along the way Team Rocket battled against Celosia, so Serena, Marin, and the professor could get father into the labs. Back with Bonnie, She, Gary, Blaziken Mask, and Blaziken arrived at a large building fragment ahead of Squishy. Then Bonnie called out, "Squishy? It's fine now. It's me, Bonnie. Can you see me? Squishy, you don't want to do this, do you?" Squishy, however, attacked Bonnie, but Blaziken Mask protected her. Bonnie was on the ground in tears. Gary tried to comfort her, but then, through her tears she began to sing. Bonnie sang to Squishy hoping to free it from Lysandre's control. Bonnie succeeded in saving Squishy.
Back at the Gym, Clemont had just taken out Xerosic's Pokemon, but this didn't matter to Xerosic because the plan was about to commence. A grunt was placed on the bleachers of the gym to the left of the battle field. In Xerosic's case it was to the right. Scarlet just happened to look in the grunts direction. She saw him point a weapon towards Clemont. She rushed into the fight almost immediately, but she would soon realize that by doing this, she was making a big mistake. She transformed into her phoenix form and got in front of Clemont and the grunt fired the weapon. However, a projectile did not come out of that weapon. What came out of the weapon was water. Scarlet watched in the horror of the mistake she had made. Fear took hold and it traveled through her and Ash's bond. Ash felt this fear only for ten seconds before that fear erupted into intense pain. The water made impact and Scarlet, in her phoenix form, let out a loud screech. Clemont could hear the screeches transitioning into Scarlet's screams as the water continued to inflict pain on her. Clemont was left in complete shock at this attack. He knew Ash would not only be affected, but he would not be happy that Team Flare attacked his sister. Then Scarlet landed a few feet away from Clemont before she exploded into volcanic ash. Scarlet was now panicked and disoriented as she was trying to locate Clemont, but Scarlet did not escape in time. She inhaled too much of the ash again. It was only because she was panicked and disoriented, so she couldn't think clearly. Scarlet passed out and her body was nearly buried in the settling ashes. When her location was finally revealed, Clemont's shock only increased. Scarlet was unconscious and she wasn't showing any signs of movement. Clemont turned to Xerosic and demanded that he tell what he had done to her. Xerosic revealed that he and Lysandre had suspected that Scarlet would interfere with their plans, so they planned to eliminate her and weaken her brother if the mind control had failed.
There was no limit to how angry Clemont was. However, Clemont proceeded to fight against Team Flare along with Clembot, who had just hacked into the control system. Xerosic was thrown out of Prism Tower and, with the cost of Clembot's memories, Clemont shut the machine down and freed the other Zygarde from Lysandre's control. Squishy along with Bonnie, Gary, Blaziken Mask, and Blaziken went to find the other Zygarde core. Ash had been affected by the intense pain that Scarlet had received. He tried to get in touch with her multiple times throughout, but she wouldn't respond. Her pain was too great and once it was over she was in a state of panic and she was disoriented. He was able to enter her mind and find out her thoughts before he lost contact with her. Her final thoughts were, …. Water…...Volcanic ash everywhere…. Find Clemont….Can't… Breathe! Ash became shocked, but once he lost contact he focused on his battle.
Ash and Alain wrapped up the battle and defeated Lysandre. Lysandre, however, seemed to commit suicide. After this happened, Serena contacted Ash and asked him where is location was. Ash explained that he was at the top of Prism Tower. Serena explained to Ash her situation and that Chespie had been rescued and it was safe. Then Serena asked Ash to go to the gym because something was wrong with Scarlet and Clemont. Ash and Alain went straight to the gym. Luna and Celestia went to the gym with them. When they were close to arriving, Gary, who had run all the way back to the gym, met up with them. Gary said, "Ash, I'm glad to see that you guys are okay." Ash and Gary held each other's hands and Ash replied, "Right back at you, Gary." They all went inside the gym. Then they all became shocked when they arrived. Clemont's robot, Clembot, lied on the ground in ruin, but Clemont wasn't over by his creation. He was leaning over Scarlet trying to get her to wake up or at least breathe. Scarlet, however, remained unresponsive. She was as motionless as a fallen tree. Ash, in complete shock, was the first to run over. He towered over Clemont and his motionless sister. Clemont looked up at Ash who had come to the gym. Clemont was relieved to see him, but he was also afraid because he didn't want to anger him. Unable to read his expression or recognize the tone in his voice, Ash said, "What happened, Clemont?" Clemont hesitated, "She tried to protect us, but Lysandre and Xerosic set the whole thing up. They lured her into a perfect trap. They doused her with water while she was in her phoenix form. I heard the phoenix's screeches transition into Scarlet's screams. Then she exploded into volcanic ash. Then when the ash settled, her body was nearly buried in the ash. I've tried everything to get her to wake up and nothing has worked. I don't know what else to do. Ash, I'm so sorry..." Ash then knelt down and to Clemont's surprise, Ash laid his hand on Clemont's shoulder. Ash replied, "Clemont thank you for doing everything you could to help her. But I think we might be too late." Then Luna walked up and felt Scarlet. She explained, "She still has a pulse. It's a strong one too, but it won't last forever. What we need to do is remove the volcanic ash that's in her lungs." Clemont questioned, "But how are we going to do that?" Ash suggested, "We could take her to a hospital." Luna urged, "There's no time. We have to get the ash out now! Luckily, I know how to do that." Then she looked around the gym. She saw a pail up on the bleachers. She turned Alain and asked, "Alain, can you see if that pail has any water in it?" Alain nodded. He ran up and looked in the pail. He gave her a thumbs up to confirm that there was water in it. Luna continued, "How much?" Alain answered, "It's a full bucket." Luna then said, "Bring it to me." Alain brought her the bucket. Luna then began estimating on how much water she would need to remove the ash from Scarlet's lungs. She then figured out the number. She then inquired to Ash, "Can you get her mouth open?" Ash nodded and he forced Scarlet's mouth open. Luna then announced, "Okay we're all set."
Meanwhile, Serena and the others went to investigate the giant rock, but it suddenly absorbed Chespie. They evacuated the labs and now they had no idea how to deal with this situation. In Lumiose City, Bonnie and Squishy were trying to convince the other Zygarde core to come with them. Squishy shared its views with its partner. So far they were not having much luck.
Back at the tower, Luna was getting ready to remove the ash from Scarlet's lungs. Luna began water bending the water. She directed the water into Scarlet's mouth. Then she closed her eyes and she opened them again. Her eyes glowed a forest green color. She then saw right through the skin and was able to direct the water down Scarlet's windpipe. Then the water reached the lungs and Luna began mixing the water with the ash. She was washing it out of Scarlet's lungs. When the lungs could not hold any more water, Luna split the water and she pulled it out. Afterwards, she directed it back to the bucket. Then Luna focused back on Scarlet. She finished mixing the ash and the water. Luna then began to pull the water out. Scarlet's eyes burst open. Scarlet began to make gagging sounds as Luna directed the water out of her lungs into an empty bucket that Gary brought over. Luna poured the ash-mixed water into the bucket. Everyone saw how dark the water had become as Luna had mixed it with the volcanic ash within Scarlet's lungs. When all of the water got out of Scarlet, she broke into a fit of coughing. Luna finished pouring all of the water into the empty bucket and then she stopped water bending. When Scarlet finished catching her breath, she looked over at her brother. She smiled and weakly whispered, "Hi..." Luna walked over to her and checked her for any remaining volcanic ash. She found some in her bloodstream and she reached into her bag and pulled out a vial. The vial contained a glowing green liquid. Luna then opened the vial. She turned to Scarlet and she said, "Volcanic ash is highly toxic. I may have removed the majority of it that was in your lungs. The ash, however, has found it's way into your bloodstream. This will definitely cause problems if not taken care of immediately. Unfortunately, I can't remove the ash from your bloodstream, but I can boost your immune system to get rid of the ash by neutralizing the toxic side of it. Then your immune system can get rid of it." Ash replied, "Please do. We need her healthy."
Luna raised Scarlet up and held the vial close. Then Luna softly spoke, "Drink this. It's a healing potion made by the Dreamwalker healers. It will neutralize the toxins in the ash in your bloodstream and boost your immune system." Scarlet sat up and she took the vial. She looked at it and asked, "All of it?" Luna nodded and Scarlet then scarfed down the potion, but to her surprise the potion wasn't as bitter as she thought it was going to be. After she finished the potion, she gave the vial back to Luna. Chuckling Luna responded, "You thought it was going to be bitter right?" Scarlet gave Luna a slight nod. Luna continued, "The Dreamwalker healer's mix the herbs with a touch of magic. Not only does it dramatically increase the herbs healing abilities, it also hides their bitter taste." Scarlet then stood up, with the help of her brother. Then Serena contacted Ash, via the communicator given by Clemont, she and the professor warned about the giant rock. After hearing about the giant rock, they immediately went to find Bonnie and Blaziken Mask.
Bonnie and Squishy had just finished reasoning with Squishy's partner. Then Ash and the other's arrived. Luna had gone to the moon to increase her power. They began traveling towards the location of Professor Sycamore and the others. Professor Sycamore explained about the giant rock and he informed them on the outcome if they were unable to stop the giant rock from merging with the sundial. Alain hit his fist on the side of the helicopter and said, "Lysandre, recreating the world at any cost!" Ash replied, "We won't let that happen!" Then they all began planning to stop that giant rock and Alain promised to Marin that he would save Chespie. Then Alain telepathically communicated with Luna and explained to her the situation to which Luna replied, "So he did have a fail-safe. Don't worry, Alain. If things start to go wrong, rest assured that I will end the monstrosity where it stands." Alain responded, "I wouldn't expect anything less from you, Luna." They ended their connection and then they prepared for arrival.
Serena, Professor Sycamore, and Steven Stone had already started to battle the monstrosity. Mega Garchomp and Mega Metagross as well as Serena's Braixen fought against the vines that the giant rock was dishing out. The three pokemon, however, struggled against the vines and soon Mega Garchomp and Mega Metagross were entangled in the vines. Serena's Braixen fell off Mega Metagross and began plummeting towards the ground. Then all of a sudden, a Charizard and a Pikachu flew by and caught Braixen.
Shocked by the sudden appearance of these two pokemon, Serena and the others knew that this was a sign that Ash and everyone else was nearby. Sure enough the helicopter was revealed with Ash, Scarlet, Clemont, Alan, and everyone else on it. Ash and Alan freed the entangled pokemon and tried their best to aid them. Ash came up with a plan to locate Marin's Chespin and they successfully executed it. Geninja's giant water shuriken marked where Chespie was. Soon the pokemon were overwhelmed by the vines and were entangled once again. Things started to look pretty bad as the pokemon struggled to free themselves from the constricting vines. Scarlet analyzed the vines and she then came up with a plan to free the pokemon. With her plan in mind, Scarlet jumped out of the helicopter without a second thought. Gary tried to stop her, but Ash put his hand in front of him. Gary was in complete shock that Ash was letting his sister plummet to her death. Ash, however, was doing the exact opposite. He knew his sister had a plan up her sleeve and wanted to give her the chance to make her own decisions. Then Scarlet transformed into her scarlet phoenix form.
Scarlet flew over to the struggling pokemon. She then used her powerful fire attack on a single area. She concentrated her fire so that way she wouldn't hurt the pokemon. Once the vines let the pokemon go, they all retreated and got to a safe distance. Scarlet followed and immediately started to head back to the helicopter. She telepathically asked Mewtwo to come out of its pokeball. When Mewtwo made its appearance, everyone watched as Scarlet transformed back into a human. The only problem was that Scarlet couldn't get close enough to the helicopter, without burning it, to get back on board. Mewtwo, however, already knew what she wanted it to do. Once Scarlet was a human again, Mewtwo performed a Psychic attack to levitate Scarlet and keep her from falling. Then it moved her over to the helicopter and Ash helped her get back on board. When Ash got a hold of his sister Mewtwo let her fall and Ash helped her the rest of the way. Once Scarlet was back on board the helicopter, Ash hugged his sister tightly revealing that he had been concerned about his sister. Ash said to her, "That was a very risky move sis, but thanks. You really helped us out a lot." Scarlet was about to speak when, all of a sudden, a huge combo attack struck the giant rock. It's sheer power shook the air around them and blinded them with a bright light.
They all turned to see all of the gym leaders of Kalos and Champion Diantha. Everyone regrouped a good distance away from the monstrosity that threatened the Anistar City sundial. Diantha and Steven Stone, the champion of the Hoenn Region, began discussing matters on rescuing Marin's Chespin. Once they had a plan in mind, they began getting ready to move out. Serena was put in charge of taking care of Marin and Bonnie. Then the group charged their way forward with one thing on their minds: Save Chespie. They crossed a great amount of land between them and the monstrosity. Ash and Alain began to run across the vines and began to make their way to the water shuriken. Everyone did their part to clear the way so Ash, Alain, and their pokemon could get through and rescue Chespie. However, they each got entangled one by one. Scarlet and her Mega Mewtwo Y kept pace with Ash and Alain and made sure to help each of them. Once Ash and Alain made it inside, Ash gave Alain as much cover as he needed. Unannounced to anyone fighting the giant rock, Luna was watching them. She watched every effort they gave to rescue the captured Chespin. She was touched by how determined each of them were. Clearly, they were humans they could trust. She watched as Ash and Alain successfully rescued Chespie and Alain brought him safely to Marin. Marin cried happily to have her Chespin back. After thanking Alain, everyone lined up to attack the now motionless giant rock.
Meanwhile, Luna was now uneasy. The attempt to rescue Chespie went extremely well, almost too well. Luna felt that this mission was too easy. Lysandre was too cunning for his own good. Surely the monstrosity that he created wouldn't shut down that easily. As Luna began thinking it over, she then figured out that Lysandre wasn't dead. He was on top of the giant rock and he was the alternative way to make the giant rock move again. He was the true fail-safe. The fight wasn't over yet. Luna ran outside of her castle of dreams and she cried out, "Nighttime sky, Shadows of Darkness, Stars of Space, and Moon of the Earth, hear my call! Restore my powers once and for all!" Hearing the sound of their mistress, the nighttime sky, shadows, stars, and the moon restored Luna's powers and strength. She teleport-ed to the location where the giant rock was. She arrived just time to see the giant rock come back to life without the need of Marin's Chespin. Luna saw Lysandre at the top of the monstrosity and she quickly transformed. She turned into a medium sized black dragon with green eyes. She had a massive wingspan and a ridge of scales that ran down her spine and branched off towards the end of her tail. At the end of her tail, Luna had two identical tail fins that helped to not only maintain altitude, but also controlled the steering. Luna had become a Night Fury. Luna lifted off into the air while Lysandre was talking. She got high enough to dive in at a frontal angle and she headed straight for the giant rock. A Night Fury's plasma blast wouldn't do much to the giant rock, but it would be just enough to distract Lysandre from firing the laser. As she neared, she made a screeching sound all the way through the dive. Everyone heard it and even Lysandre heard the screeching sound. By the time he realized what it was, it was too late. Luna fired her plasma blast and the explosion knocked him back.
Everyone looked up at the black dragon that had just launched an attack on Lysandre. The black dragon roared ferociously and triumphantly towards the now disoriented Lysandre, who was still recovering from the explosion. Luna re-positioned herself so she could make a fast getaway when Lysandre attacked. Lysandre then got back up and he looked in Luna's direction with anger flaring in his eyes. Everyone watched the dragon look towards Lysandre and listened to it let out a low growl. Lysandre then shouted, "Why?! Why do you defend them?! What could possibly be left to defend?! Surely, you, of all people, must have seen the world in the way I did! So, why do you choose to defend them?! What makes this world so special that it is still worth defending?! What gives you the right to interfere?!" Luna turned and looked at Lysandre. She then flew over to the top of the giant rock and landed right in front of him. Everyone then watched in shock as the black dragon began transforming and revealed itself to be none other than Luna. Luna then looked at Lysandre sternly and she responded, "I defend them because I trust them with my life. I can also give you a whole list of things in this world that are left to defend. Yes, there was a time where was a time where I did see the world in way that you did. I hated humans greatly, but not enough to go to extremes to eliminate them. I was younger then and I was foolish in those days. It wasn't until that there was one crisis where I met someone, who opened my eyes to the truth. That person was Sir Aaron, himself. He sacrificed himself to save me and I will forever be grateful to him. It is for this reason that I dedicate myself to protecting his family bloodline. Not all humans should be blamed for the actions of the humans that killed my parents. Because of Sir Aaron, I was able to see the brighter side to humanity. It helped me to better understand this concept a little better. I'm older now and I understand that there are good humans out there, which is why I choose to protect them. They do not deserve to suffer and I'll make sure that they don't. I'm sorry, but I don't see the world in that way anymore and I do not regret it. I can give you plenty from reasons on what makes the world special. I have every right to interfere. This place is my home too and I'll never let you destroy it. I swore to protect this world and I'm not going back on mt promise. You, on the other hand, are too focused on events of the past that you won't look out into the present to see that there are good people out there. Destroying the world isn't your decision to make, Lysandre. The destruction of the world will be handled by the alpha pokemon itself, if it has to come to that. It's not for us to decide that this world should be destroyed. It's time to stop, Lysandre."
Lysandre looked at Luna and was surprised by her statement. Lysandre began to wonder if Luna was right. Was he too focused on the past that he didn't look out into the present to see if there were still good people in the world? More questions hit him like rocks. He was now hesitant in his beliefs. Lysandre didn't know what to believe at this point. Everyone was shocked that Luna was actually getting through to Lysandre. Alain didn't expect anything less from her. He knew that Luna was a gentle spirit. She didn't like to kill, but that didn't mean the she couldn't. Luckily, she wasn't pushed that far. Luna just wanted to end this crisis peacefully. Lysandre then finally spoke, "If continue to go along with my plan, what will happen?" Luna answered, "If you continue to go down the path you have chosen to follow, you'll eventually be destroyed by your own dark desires. Look over there! You are just moments away from destroying yourself! You're literally risking suicide! Is that really what you want?!" Lysandre was surprised by what Luna said to him. Luna then continued, "I've seen how evil people can become. I've seen this more times than I care to count. It angers me on how much devastation that they are willing to cause all for the sake of their goals. What really gets me going is when they involve gifted children and use them to achieve said goals. It infuriates me to no end!" Everyone saw a visible dark aura start to appear around Luna. It was then that they watched her dig her nails into her own flesh and that was enough to quell her anger for them moment. The dark aura disappeared and Luna refocused herself. Luna continued to reason with Lysandre offering him a second chance to make the world a better place, but in a way that would benefit everyone. Lysandre thought it over and he wanted to start over, but he feared that no one would accept him after the events that just occurred. So, he pretended to go along with his plan and he attacked.
Luna used a sword to cut through the device on Lysandre's arm and she then transformed herself again. This time she went straight to her alicorn form. Everyone watched her fly up into the sky to avoid Lysandre's next attack. Luna telepathically then communicated to Lysandre, "I apologize in advance for what I'm about to do." Lysandre responded to her, "Whatever you plan to do, I'll accept it as a punishment. It's what I deserve after all." Luna continued, "Let me warn you in advance that where you're going is a prison that is inescapable. The only way to escape is to wait for a certain day where the line between the two worlds blur. You need a pure soul to get out. I don't wish to send you there, but you wish for a punishment. Just going to that place is punishment enough. You'll be in there for quite awhile. Are you sure you're up for this?" Lysandre nodded to her and Luna nodded back and she began preparing the spell. Zygarde had just finished transforming into it's complete form. It pushed the giant rock back few kilometers away from the group. Luna then fired off her spell and sent Lysandre to the prison she spoke of. Zygarde got destroyed the giant rock by activating it's signature move. Once the giant rock was gone, everyone began checking up on each other. Luna landed on the ground and they watched her stagger once she was on the ground. Alain walked up to her and asked, "Are you okay, Luna?" Luna answered, "The red atmosphere is blocking my connection to the moon. So, I'm a little dizzy and weaker than I should be." Everyone grew worried about Luna. Suddenly, Zygarde ascended and released some of its energy and restored the order to the Kalos Region. With the red sky gone, Luna was able to soak under the true night sky and moonlight. Everyone soon was relieved to see Luna regain her strength. Luna looked up at the night sky and she saw that it had grown very dull. This disheartened her, so she decided to restore the life that the night sky used to have. Diantha walked up and said, "Your majesty, are you alright? You seem saddened by something." Luna continued to look up and she replied, "The Kalos Region night skies had way more beauty than this." Luna took up a stance and she spread her wings out horizontally. She then began channeling energy into her horn and a blue aura began to flow around her horn. Then a powerful burst of energy was released from Luna's horn and it launched straight up towards the sky. Then everyone watched in amazement as the night sky grew to be more vibrant. The stars shimmered like diamonds and the moon shone brightly. Luna smiled brightly towards the night sky.
It was then that she turned to see her sister Celestia was heading their way. She landed and the two sisters hugged and greeted each other. They both had a decent conversation with each other and talked for many minutes. Then Celestia brought up a subject concerning the sun and the moon. It was then that they got into positions and Luna began lowering the moon and Celestia raised the sun. The sun rose once more as now the Team Flare Crisis had been prevented. Fatigue, however, started to set in and Luna was the first to notice it. She looked at Ash and his friends and she saw them hugging each other. They were happy that the crisis was over, but they were so tired from the long battle they had fought. Diantha walked up to Luna and said, "Everything okay, your majesty?" Luna chuckled, "You can call me, Luna, Diantha. And to answer your question, I'm fine. I, however, am more concerned about the children. I think the fatigue is finally starting to set in." Diantha nodded, "I wish they hadn't fought this long battle and just let us adults handle it." Luna replied, "Yes, but their help was very crucial for this crisis. Without them, I'm not even sure the disaster would have been prevented. Either way, we can't change what happened even if we wanted to. Ash was at the heart of the whole situation. I wonder if he's doing okay. I'm not going to pester him about it though. I think it's best that we leave him alone for now." Diantha agreed then asked, "Luna, I hear from Olympia that you can also see the future. Can you tell me if there will be another crisis that will come to Kalos?" Luna fell silent for a long five minutes. Everyone had heard Diantha's question and they waited for Luna to answer. Luna looked around and she saw a shadow-ling hiding in the shadows to try and spy on Luna. Luna finally spoke, "You have asked me a very serious question, Diantha. I will answer it as you have the right to know. You are the Kalos champion after all, but let's talk about it in a less out-in-the-open-area." Everyone was confused by what Luna meant, but the watched her cast a spell and it appeared to do nothing. Luna then concentrated to perform a teleportation spell. It was then that they arrived on the moon.
They all were shocked and confused on how they got to the moon. Alain, Ash, Scarlet, and Serena were the only ones who figured out that Luna brought them there. Diantha walked up and asked, "Did you bring us here?" Luna answered, "Yes. And don't be alarmed the spell I cast earlier should help you deal with the environment." Gary questioned, "How in the world did you get us hear without a rocket ship or space equipment?! You've literally defied every law of physics!" Scarlet then came up and slapped Gary on the back of the head and she said, "I think you're forgetting who you're talking to. Luna raises and lowers the moon every night and she battles nightmares every night. You don't really think that she has the kind of power to defy the laws of physics?" Gary blinked twice and then Scarlet turned to Luna and she spoke, "You may continue." Luna chuckled, "Thank you, Scarlet. Now, without any further interruptions, we have a lot of ground to cover and the spell I cast earlier won't last long. So, let's get a move on." Professor Sycamore then commented, "Depending on where we're going and how far it is away from here, the weaker gravity on the moon will slow us down. There's no way we'll arrive at our destination on foot in time before the spell wears off." Luna then retorted, "Who said anything about walking there?" Luna then transformed back into her alicorn form and she levitated everyone. She then spread her wings and with that she flew into the sky. Everyone was able to follow due to Luna's levitation spell dragging them along. When they reached their destination, Luna set them down just before they entered an atmospheric barrier that she created. When Luna landed, Clemont walked up to her. He said, "I don't understand. There's nothing here." Luna then replied, "So it would appear. Before we go any further, I just want to let you know that you can breathe without the spell beyond this point. The atmospheric barrier is just like the one on earth, so you won't need the spell here. Now, all of you, kindly follow me." She passed through the barrier and waited for them to follow. They each passed through the barrier and the spell wore off after the last gym leader passed through. Everyone then looked up in shock and amazement to see a castle on the moon.
Luna smiled softly at the castle and then she turned to her guests and she spoke, "Welcome to my Castle of Dreams." Everyone was amazed by it, but Ash noticed it looked different from when he saw it last time. Gary commented, "What's so special about a crummy old sandcastle?" Scarlet then smacked Gary on the head hard and she whispered harshly, "Shut up! Don't be rude!" Ash, Serena, Bonnie, and Clemont all snickered at Scarlet's violent way of communicating. Luna then responded, "Yes, while it doesn't look like much, but looks can be deceiving." Luna walked forward and she looked up to the very top of the castle. Then she began drawing power from her surroundings. Then she concentrated onto a crystal and she released all of her stored up power and she began to bridge the dream world and real world together. It was then that the castle's appearance changed completely. It became the castle that Ash and Scarlet were familiar with. After the spell was complete, Luna continued to draw power to reduce her fatigue. Once she was finished, she led them up to the castle. Everyone, who hadn't seen it, was in awe of the castle's beauty. Luna opened the doors to her castle and she lead them inside. Turning back into a human, Luna then brought them to the Pool of Dreams. She turned to her guests and her expression became serious. She then said suddenly, "My apologies for making you wait, Diantha. I will now answer your question." Eagerly Diantha asked, "So, is there going to be another crisis?" Luna sighed, "Unfortunately, yes. There will be another crisis that will come to Kalos." Now worried Diantha demanded, "Please, Luna, tell me more!" Luna nodded, "After I returned from being frozen in time, I received a vision and a prophecy regarding the crisis. The crisis itself is more centered around me than it is Kalos. But if the crisis is not stopped, the entire world will be destroyed."
Everyone, except Ash and two others, was in complete shock when Luna said those words. Alain walked up to Luna and embraced her. Diantha then asked, "Why is the crisis centered around you, Luna?" Luna responded, "Being the Guardian of Kalos, I've made more than a few enemies and we've faced off on more than one occasion. Normally, I'm able to finish them off the second time we fight. The next enemy, however, is one that I couldn't face alone the first time we fought." Alain inquired, "Who's the enemy?" Luna then waterbent the water in the pool and she created a screen of water so she could show them a glimpse of her past. Luna explained, "His name is Sombra and he's as evil as they come. His magic is like a disease. Once you get infected by it, it spreads until you're completely corrupted by it. The last time we fought, it took both me and Sir Aaron to seal him away. Unfortunately, seals don't last forever. Eventually, as time goes by, the seal will break and he will be back stronger than ever." Alain and Ash both noticed that Luna seemed to be fearful of Sombra's return. Olympia floated over and she said, "What did the prophecy say?" Luna told Olympia of the prophecy and she figured out what the prophecy meant without even asking. She quickly hugged Luna and whispered, "I'm so sorry, Luna." Luna responded, "It's alright." Diantha then asked, "What does the prophecy mean?" Luna then looked at Diantha and she replied, "It means that when Sombra returns, I will not be able to stop him. I will ultimately fall to his powers and he will imprison me." Shocked gasps filled the room. Everyone had heard that Luna never lost a fight and that she wasn't the easiest person to catch or defeat, but the fact that an old enemy was going to defeat her was shocking to them. Luna then continued, "There is hope. Right before the events of which I previously described, I will give birth to an heir. She will be the one who'll defeat Sombra. She'll have the power to do so and she'll save me before Sombra accomplishes his goal." Almost everyone was relieved to hear Luna say this, but a few were skeptical about Luna's statement. Luna eventually sent some of her guests home and it became apparent that Luna was hiding her feelings from everyone. Those who remained saw that Luna seemed to be trembling and they grew very concerned for her.
Alain walked up to Luna and he put his hand on her shoulder. Luna then looked at Alain and he saw the pure terror in Luna's eyes. On top of that, he saw fatigue that had been building up over time. These two problems were taking a toll on Luna. Olympia walked up and she asked, "I don't know if this is a good time to ask this, but I'm really curious for your safety, your Majesty. I'm fully aware that Sombra's magic of choice is 'Black Magic' and that it's the source of all darkness in our world. Humans that are impacted by its power are instantly corrupted, but it's my understanding that Dreamwalkers are affected differently. Luna, what will happen to you if Sombra strikes you with his magic?" Luna replied almost immediately, "I'm glad that you asked me this, Olympia. I never knew when it was the right time to say this. If I'm being honest, the warriors and healers won't be affected as badly by Sombra's magic. If anything, they'll just be out of commission for a few days. My case, however, is very different. If I'm given Black Magic in any shape or form, even if I'm hit directly by it, I…. will…." Luna hesitated in her words. This told everyone in the room that whatever she said next was serious. They patiently waited for Luna to finish. Luna finally continued, "I will die." Shocked gasps once more filled the room. The fact that Luna openly stated that she would die at the hands of Sombra came as a complete shock to them. Luna proceeded to explain to everyone why she would die from Black Magic. The magic acted as a poison once it makes contact. It would consume every ounce of magic that she had in her. Not only that, it would also devour the aura within her that kept her alive. Once they understood why Luna was so vulnerable to Sombra's magic, they were able to come to terms with Luna's potential death.
Olympia, however, knew that there was more to it then that. When she was younger, her mentor had told her that it was imperative that the ruler of the moon should not perish to any enemy. Therefore, learning to predict future events was of most importance. Olympia expressed her concerns and she further questioned, "Luna, what will happen if you are killed by any enemy?" Luna answered, "If it should happen that I am killed by any enemy, the entire world itself will crumble and cease to exist." Once more, everyone was shocked. Luna explained, "In the beginning of time, Arceus had just finished creating the worlds of Time, Space, the Reverse World, Its own world, and our world. When the Dreamwalkers were created, Arceus was the one who was holding the world we live in together. The burden, however, was too much Arceus to handle because it had used up most of its strength to create so many different worlds. The first Dreamwalker Healers at the time began to heal Arceus in hopes of restoring its strength. The task, however, proved to be too difficult for them and one by one they fell from exhaustion. Suddenly, a woman came up to them and she gave all of her strength and power to the healers, so they could continue to heal Arceus. She gave everything to ensure that Arceus would survive. The healers, after drawing power from her, succeeded in healing Arceus and it thanked them for saving its life. When Arceus found out that a Dreamwalker Mage gave up every ounce of power she had to help it to survive, the Alpha pokemon was touched by her noble deed. Arceus rewarded her by filling her with power and crowing her the queen. There were some objections, but they soon accepted her. However, Arceus accidentally transferred the burden of acting as the balance of the world onto the queen. The queen, however, accepted the burden and it has been carried on for generations. Every queen that has existed in Dreamwalker history has carried this burden. Now, it's my turn to carry the burden. I'm carrying that burden right now." Bonnie walked up and inquired, "Does that mean that you're a queen, Luna?" Luna shook her head, "No, Bonnie. I'm not a queen. Not yet, anyway. I have another few months to go before I come of age." Luna further explained the burden she carried. She told them how she had received it from her mother just minutes before she perished and how the burden was transferred from the current ruler to the heir. It was then that Luna decided to show them the future to come.
Using the pool of water she showed them the visions she had seen regarding Sombra's return. When they saw Ash, Scarlet, and Luna's sister charge towards what appeared to be a shadow, they watched as the shadow attacked and Ash tried to protect everyone. The shadow's power, however, completely destroyed the shield that Ash created with his aura. Scarlet and Celestia brought him to Serena, who restored the aura that Ash had lost. Then Ash, Scarlet, and Celestia went back to fight against the shadow only this time the shadow now had a physical form. It seemed that it was going to end the same way as before. They even saw Luna in chains and that she was suffering. Suddenly, a white blur appeared and created a barrier to shield everyone from the incoming attack. They saw that the blur was a white alicorn and the attack did nothing to the barrier she had created. They then watched the ailcorn counterattack and she pierced through the shadow's dark heart destroying it permanently. They watched as the alicorn flew over to Luna. The alicorn freed Luna and seemed to cleanse her of Sombra's magic that had seeped into her body. Once Luna was on her feet, they all watched as the alicorn transform into a human girl. They were in shock to see the resemblance between the young girl and Luna. It was then that the vision ended. Luna explained the meaning of each vision and gave insight to Ash and Serena's powers. She told them about the third alicorn and about her powers. Luna explained to her guests everything they needed to know and soon she sent them back except for Alain, Ash, Serena, and Scarlet.
Luna looked at her most trusted companions. She said to them, "Forgive me for not sending you back, but I must show you something extremely vital. I only trust you four with this knowledge." Ash replied, "What is it that you want to show us, Luna?" Turning towards the pool, Luna responded, "Look." She stirred up the water and it revealed a tear in the boundaries of the world and darkness was pouring out of it. Scarlet gasped, "What in the world is that?!" Luna explained, "This is the beginning of a dark corridor that is getting ready to open. Inside that corridor lies the dark king, King Sombra. His darkness is spreading at a much faster rate as the opening gets wider and wider. This crisis is coming much quicker than most other others. Time is extremely short and the seal is breaking at a rapid rate. Sombra could return at any time. There's no telling how long our moment of peace will last. Ash, Scarlet, Serena, make sure that you and your friends stay on your guard. The shadow-lings can come from anywhere." It was then that Luna clasped her hands together and suddenly a bunch of charms appeared in her hand. She put the charms on them and continued, "These charms will ward off darkness. Give the rest to your friends and make sure that they keep it on them. They don't have to wear the charms, but they still have to keep the charms with them. The shadow-lings will avoid them as much as possible." Ash, Scarlet, and Serena all nodded. Luna proceeded, "Alain, I must discuss some important matters to you. But first, you three go meet up with your friends. We'll join you very soon." The three agreed to go and Luna sent them to earth. Alain then asked, "So, what is it that you wish to talk about?" Luna answered, "Alain, you already know that I'm coming of age. I'll be crowned queen within a few months. I, however, am growing weary. Fighting nightmares in the dream realm, keeps me up all night. I'm unable to protect my subjects during the day because I must rest. But because most problems during the daylight hours, I've had to wake up earlier than normal so I don't get enough sleep."
Alain was in shock from what Luna had told him. Luna added, "Alain, I'm tired. I can no longer run my kingdom on my own." Alain then embraced Luna and he just held her. Alain replied, "Luna, you're not alone anymore. You have me and Ash and his friends to help you defend Kalos. We'll help to protect everything in your stead. I'm willing to follow you to the ends of the earth if I have to. What you need is someone to take charge while you rest. Someone like a king and I'm happy to fill the role if you need me to." Luna smiling responded, "Alain, it's more than 'I need you' I want you to be my king, but only if you want to. I have know intentions of forcing you to be my king." Alain said, "Luna, I've always dreamed to rule beside you as your king. I want to rule beside you and help lift the burden of ruling off of your shoulders." Luna grinned, "Then I'm happy to accept you as my king, Alain. I'm looking forward to ruling with you." The two came together for a long and passionate kiss. Alain and Luna vowed to each other to never leave each other's side, but the long and hard battle waited for them in the near future.
Luna knew that she needed to make a plan on how her heir would survive King Sombra's attack. She also needed her subjects to be ready for the fateful day. There was no doubt that Alain could handle that part, but first he needed to learn from Daphene and Luna in regards to ruling a kingdom. Luna had much to do to prepare for the coming crisis and her coronation. This battle would be the toughest challenge that the Dreamwalker Civilization had ever faced.
