AN: I'm back!!! I'm currently rewatching TNLOCK and this idea popped into my head. There is one cuss word towards the end. Fair warning. I don't own TNLOCK! Enjoy!
Alek's POV:
As I look at Chloe's back, I think about what Jasmine told me with a smirk I couldn't quite decipher. I think about how far we've come since I ended our friendship that wasn't unlike Chloe's flirtations with the human she's talking to. I know I'm falling in love with her all over again. I've been denying my feelings because I feel like I'm going to end up getting hurt. It's hard though. I snap out of it and finally go on "attack" mode. I spar with Chloe for a little bit before she manages to take me down. She puts her stick to my neck as if she's trying to keep me down. I can't help myself as I stare at her for a moment. She chuckles and finally moves her stick out of my way. I grab the hand she offers and she helps me up.
"Impressive." Chloe shrugs with a little grunt. "You're an excellent teacher." As I stare at her, I feel myself say something, but I'm not exactly sure what it was. By the look on her face, I know it was something sexual. "And already regretting the compliment." I turn away from her to grab her bottle of water as I build up the courage to mention what Jasmine told me. "Jasmine told me that you finally came to your senses and ended your ridiculous flirtation with that human." I look at her to gage her expression and toss her the bottle as I talk. She scoffs and chuckles a bit. "You mean Brian?" She sighs and opens her water. I take a sip of water as she responds. "Not that it's truly any of your business, but sense is still completely lost." I feel myself deflate as I know what's coming. "He's not leaving town after all." She takes a drink of water and looks at me as she waits for a response. "And you're still going to see him?" I try to keep my jealous anger under control, but I feel that control slipping away. "That's the idea. We're..." She seems to search for the right word as she looks around at the park we're in. "Friends." The look on her face as she finishes talking completely shatters my self control because I used to wear that same look as I talked about her before we stopped talking two years ago.
I turn away, put my water bottle down, and pick up my stick. I suddenly turn on her and we start sparring again. This time, it's a little more real on my part even though I don't plan on hurting her in any way. As the anger is released, I knock her stick out of her hand and it flies away from her. She watches it land on the ground before looking at me again. "Alek! What the hell?" I twirl my stick around as I try to gain control of my emotions again. My voice still comes out harsher than I mean to sound. "You never know when you're gonna be sucker punched. Best be prepared." She scoffs and looks at me with disgust. "I'll remember that." I can't stand the look on her face another minute. I turn away and pick up my stuff as I speak. "I think we're done for the night." I hear her scoff and don't look at her as I walk past her to go home.
I slam the door as I walk in and both Valentina and Jasmine look at me with shock. As Jasmine studies my face, she slowly understands what's wrong. I hate that she reads me like a fucking book. "Alek, what's wrong?" Valentina slowly approaches me as she speaks, but Jasmine speaks up before I can make something up. "It's Chloe, isn't it?" Valentina looks at Jasmine and then back at me. I see the understanding slowly appear on her face as she studies mine. "You're in love with her, aren't you?" I don't answer. I storm to my room and collapse onto the bed. I let the tears fall as I remember when I ended things with Chloe two years ago.
I turn away from Chloe and I hear the sobs coming out of her mouth. "Alek, what's going on? Why do you suddenly think that ending our friendship is a good idea?" I spin back around and walk into her personal space. "I don't have a choice, Chloe. I don't know what to say because I can't tell you why. You just need to trust me.Okay?" She looks up at me and I see the hurt in her eyes. "Trust you? As you're breaking my heart? No thanks! I never want to speak to you again. Just leave me alone!" I watch her run away and know it's for the best as I remember when my self control slipped and I almost kissed her.
I remember how the night we found out that she killed a human ended in the same way. Her running away as she insisted that Jasmine and I leave her alone. I take out my phone and find the photo album that's from our friendship that almost ended in disaster. I see the way she's looking at me in most of the pictures and wish she would look at me the same way again.
AN: There you have it. The ending just popped into my head. I actually had the same idea (basically) to explain their backstory in another story of mine. You can find it on Wattpad. It's called The Last Seven Lives. Read & review please!
