Chapter seventeen:

Maxina sits next to Kaoru in a chair and looks over his upper body. She reaches out and gently does a check for a pulse. She feels it for a bit to test the heart rhythm. She brings her hand away once she concludes that the heartbeat is going strong. She stares at him for a little longer before speaking quietly. "I know you're in there. You really should come out. If I'm honest I'm worried that if you don't wake up soon we may have some big complications. If you were at a hospital you'd be fine but you're not." She sighs heavily and closes her eyes briefly. "I know that there is good reason you're not in the hospital. As much as it is the best place for you." She mentions her eyes half open. She opens them more to look at him once again as he lays there. "I will respect the wishes asked of me. I'll keep you here and just do the best that I can." She leans closer putting her arms on the bed. "I promise you that. Even if you die at least I can know I did all that I could. Considering the circumstances that is." She goes quiet for a little bit just watching her patient. She turns as Oshan knocks on the door. "Greetings."

"Hey. I came to check up on things." Oshan mentions moving further in the room. He stands next to Maxina as they both look to the face of the unconscious man. "Still not much progress huh?"

"No." Maxina sighs then turns as a hand rests upon her shoulder.

"You're doing your best. And that's all we could ever ask for. We understand that sometimes things happen, and that we'll lose someone." Oshan pauses and searches Maxinas eyes worriedly, as if looking for a clue or an answer to something he is trying to figure out in his head. "He is going to make it isn't he?"

"Well he's been pretty strong throughout the whole thing." Maxina informs Oshan who perks up at hearing this. She sees his back slightly straighten, his head lift a little upwards, his eyes widening with hope, and his slight relaxation. She knows that he thinks that this is all good news. "However." She swears that he deflated as soon as she had said that single word, yet he has become tense waiting for her to finish that. "That doesn't mean that he'll make it. He hasn't woken up at all. Not even a small and short disoriented moment before passing out. Honestly it worries me. If things keep up it can get a bit complicated to care for him."

Oshan slightly glances to Kaoru then he nods his head. "I see." His voice betraying his worry over everything. Since he was told of concerns of a more professional at this type of work. He turns back to her meeting her eyes. "Well I can tell Razzy when I see him next. Hopefully Kaoru will wake up soon. I'm sure that no one wants complications."

"Indeed." Maxina nods and Oshan turns his body around. She meets his eyes, as best as she can, when he looks over his shoulder.

"Just call if you need anything. I'll check back in later for an update on things." Oshan turns away and heads off out of the room.

Maxina turns her attention back to her patient. She stares at him for awhile longer before getting up. She leaves the room for a little bit just going to a spot not far. She closes the door to the bathroom.

Lorine in the meantime is walking around and looking to try to spot the woman. She doesn't have much to go on making it much more difficult. She pauses by a park to try to think of how she's going to find the woman she needs. She turns as a slight ruckus starts up.

"I don't care. I'm going to look for him." Hikaru insists loudly in protest and Lorine blinks realizing that he looks like Kaoru.

"You've been looking enough. Your body needs more rest than what you're clearly giving it." Haruhi shoots back looking a little upset. She points a finger at Hikaru's chest. "You refuse to take a break! Even though at some point you're going to collapse from exhaustion." She lowers her hand and stands straight as though having made her point.

"But what about Kaoru? He's my brother. And I wanna tell him sorry that we've been drifting apart." Hikaru protests though it sounds more like a plea than actual protest. He stares into Haruhis eyes as though begging her to just let him do this.

Haruhi lets out a heavy sigh and lightly shakes her head. She is clearly annoyed or frustrated with all of this. She looks upon Hikaru's eyes with a dead seriousness. "How about I put it this way. If you collapse from exhaustion you could get hurt. Depending where you land. Or if you collapse crossing a road what if you get hit? You can die if you collapse and something goes wrong in the fall, or the landing. What use will you be in finding Kaoru if you're stuck in the hospital or even dead?" Her eyes begin to search Hikaru's own as she hopes that she has managed to get through to him.

Hikaru sighs. "I suppose that you are right." He admits though he wishes that he was able to just continue without having to worry about that. He might even be able to find Kaoru sooner if that was the way that things are. He can only wish if only though. He lets Haruhi lead him away. Though he pauses as he turns and blinks in surprise at seeing someone that he never thought he would see again.

Lorine turns to look to the person that Hikaru had turned his attention to. She finds her eyes landing upon a woman who is walking around casually as though nothing is wrong. She glances back to Hikaru seeing that he indeed recognizes the woman. She focuses on the two as Haruhi turns to him.

"Is something wrong Hikaru?" Haruhi questions wondering what has gotten into her friend.

"That lady." Hikaru mentions still staring at the woman. "She was the maid that stole from us when me and Kaoru were just kids."

At this both Haruhi and Lorine turn to look to the woman.

"Do you think she had anything to do with Kaoru's disappearance?" Haruhi wonders and gently guides Hikarus gaze away to not alert the woman.

"I don't know. I don't know what she'd have to gain from it if she is. There hasn't been any ransom that I have heard of. And she cares too much about money that if she was responsible then there would have been a demand for money." Hikaru mentions. "Though I mean it is possible. I don't really know."

Lorine turns back to the woman and smiles. "Got you." She begins following after the woman casually as she wants to be able to find out where she is staying. So she can report back to Razzy so they can finish off the two that had the hit ordered onto poor Kaoru.
