A/N: Hey guys, so, um, I'm back to writing fanfiction after 5 months of writer's block! You guys should be proud of me hehehe. Lately, I've been returning to old fandoms in quarantine and one such fandom was Sailor Moon. Let me tell you, I remember finishing the whole 90's anime series in around 2-3 days when I was around 10 or 11. Yeah, I was that addicted. And anyways, I always wished the Senshi and Shittenou had a happy ending since I finished SMC 'cuz it seemed unfair that Serenity and Endymion got theirs. Also, I found the amount of fanfiction on this specific ship lacking so I decided to contribute with my own! So, uh, yeah! I hope you guys enjoy and R and R!

DISCLAIMER: I do not own anything of Sailor Moon (Crystal, 90's Anime or Manga) or its characters. It all belongs to its rightful creators.

Way Back To You

Chapter 1:The Search is On

Silence filled the cave as four pairs of eyes stared at the crater and the ashes inside it. After using their Sailor Planet Attack, the Senshi helped free their loves from the control of Queen Metalia.

They did it.

For a brief moment, all four Senshi saw the familiar gleams in their Shittenous' eyes. For a brief moment, they caught a glimpse of the love in them. For a brief moment, they were given hope and their hearts were filled with unimaginable joy when they restored the memories of the Shittenou.

But it was only for a brief moment. Just a small second in time for them to rejoice before Metalia ultimately killed them. Right in front of their very eyes, they saw them die. Again.

They just stared at the crater with wide eyes as tears started to fall. But they knew they had no time to mourn. As much as they wanted to stay where they were and wallow in their grief, they couldn't allow themselves to. Sailor Moon needed them right now. It was the princess first and themselves second. It was always like that since the very beginning. Their duty is to protect Serenity. It was always this way. Duty demanded it to be this way. They must protect the princess. There was no time for something as frivolous as love.

And so, with tear-stained faces and heavy hearts, they gathered their strength, left the cave and were ready to perform their duty. They weren't normal girls as much as they wanted themselves to be so. They were the Sailor Senshi, princesses of their own planets, guardians of the Princess Serenity. They had no time for grief. No time for love. Only duty. And so, no matter what happens to them, no matter how much it hurt, they had to put that aside because they had a duty.

That was nearly four years ago and none of them forgot. After defeating Galaxia and being reborn from the cauldron, peace seemed finally attainable and the path for Crystal Tokyo was set.

It's already been four years and it seems like they can finally go on their lives as normal girls. It was like a dream come true but when this dream finally came, the Shittenou weren't there to complete it.

Even after all these years, each Senshi still dreamed those little dreams of the times in Silver Millennium.

It was only a few months since the defeat of Galaxia and things have been looking relatively calm lately. The only thing they really needed to do was prepare for the upcoming Crystal Tokyo somewhere down the road.

That was, until Mamoru had a dream.

He was surrounded by darkness.

Everything around him was pitch black. He tried calling out to someone, anyone, doing so even if he knew it was futile because it seems like his voice was lost to this abyss. Then, all of a sudden, a blinding light filled everywhere. When he opened his eyes, he found himself on top of a hill looking out on a field and somewhere over, he saw a castle made of crystal.

"Greetings," a familiar voice spoke from behind.

Mamoru turned around and was surprised to find King Endymion, his future-self standing in front of him.

"Why am I here?" was all Mamoru could ask.

"As you may know, Crystal Tokyo is nearing and more challenges await everyone."

"Yes, I am aware of that, so what do we need to do?"

"You must find them."

"Them?"

"The Shittenou," Endymion started. "Are needed if you want a joyful and prosperous future."

"But where are they? I thought they already died!"

"Do you think that you were the only ones reborn in that cauldron?"

"No . . . but why now?"

"The answer to that is what you must find along with them," the king turned and was already walking off.

"Wait—"Mamoru tried to reach out to stop him but it was too late. He bolted up from bed, trying to catch his breath. He got up and made his way to a drawer and took the box inside it. He opened it and to his great surprise it was empty.

The stones were supposed to be there but they aren't. Mamoru went and sat on the edge of his bed. He looked out the window. His friends were somewhere in this world and he doesn't know where to find them but find them he will even if it's the last thing he'll do. He wanted to get his friends, his brothers back. There was so much he wanted to say and do with them but he has to find them first. Shoulders slumped, hands on his face, he was trying to figure out where to start with this search. His eyes wandered to his phone. Maybe telling the others about it could be a good start.

It was a Saturday and for the first time in months, Minako was up early. A special meeting of sorts was going to be held at Mamoru's apartment and it better be important because she was going to kill them for ruining her beauty sleep for nothing. Seriously, do they think that this gorgeous face is maintained easily?

She shook her head from her thoughts and continued walking but stopped when she passed a bush with a rose stuck in it.

A white rose.

"Minako, hurry up. The others are bound to be waiting." Artemis called out to her.

"We're already late enough, if they waited this long then let them wait some more."

Artemis sweat dropped but didn't really have any other choice because he knew better than to argue with Minako when it's this early in the morning.

She approached the bush and stared at the white rose.

'A white rose represents purity and innocence. When you see these roses, I hope you think of us' and Minako did. It was like she could hear his voice softly whispering the words to her.

She's thinking of him again. It's been years but he still appears in her thoughts.

She smiled sadly. She missed him. His gentle smile and his eyes looking at hers as he would say her name. What she would give to have that again.

"You still miss him?" her guardian asked.

Minako only nodded. She was always so close to forgetting but he would always find a way to creep into the deepest corner of her heart and mind, not that time could ever remove that part.

She shook from her head. She had to get going before the others start complaining how late she was but then again, when was she ever on time in the first place?

She smiled to herself, some things never change.

"Let's go, Artemis."

Once Minako reached Mamoru's apartment, the scene that greeted her wasn't a good one. The air seemed tense. How long have they been this silent?

"You're late." Rei crossed her arms and glared at Minako.

"Yeah, well I'm here aren't I?" Minako answered, she was taking her seat next to Makoto and Ami while Artemis was next to Luna. "Geez, looks like you woke up to a bad morning, then again you almost always do."

"Just Usagi being here before you already says a lot."

"Hey! I'm right next to you aren't I?" Usagi shouted into Rei's ear which made her cover them.

Minako giggled. Seems like the tense air lightened just a little bit. "Yeah, yeah," she started. "Let's get this meeting over with, what is so important that you had to drag me out of bed this early in the morning on a Saturday?"

And, they're back to the tenseness. If it was even possible, Minako thought that the air got even stiffer. She looked over to the others who were all looking at Mamoru expectantly.

Mamoru himself looked nervous in a way where he didn't know how to break the news but it was obvious how he was feigning calmness. Now Minako was really curious on what they're going to talk about. Surely, it wouldn't be an enemy because if it was, they would have gotten straight to the point so it had to be something personal.

"Okay, Mamoru, Minako and Artemis are here so can you finally tell us what this is about?" Luna asked.

Mamoru took a deep breath as Usagi put a reassuring hand on his shoulder and it seemed to work. He looked to the other Senshi.

"Okay, so I had another message from King Endymion," everyone was signaling him to go on. "And he said that we needed to find the Shittenou."

Mamoru half-expected everyone to erupt in noise and questions but instead he found everyone in a state of silent shock. Makoto was the first one to break the silence.

"How . . . is that even possible?"

Mamoru shook his head. "All I was told is that they were reborn in the cauldron as well."

"That doesn't seem possible, only Sailor Crystals can be reborn from the cauldron, unless I'm mistaken . . ." Mercury who spoke for the first time that morning still seemed skeptical. Because, logically, it didn't seem possible but there is still that small part of her that wanted to believe in what would otherwise be improbable. Yes, it was improbable but not completely impossible.

Mamoru cleared his throat. "Well, the reason for them being reborn is still a question that we need to find answers to but what I ask is for your help to find them."

"But why do we need to find them in the first place?" Rei snapped.

"Rei, calm down." Usagi was trying to make her friend calm down because she knew how they all felt. In all honesty, she wanted her friends and guardians to be happy.

"From what I was told, we need them to help with the development of Crystal Tokyo."

"Then let's find them," Minako said plainly. She's been stuck in her head for the whole time. She was trying to make sure that she wasn't hearing wrong. She just simply couldn't believe it.

"Now, that's the problem," They all turned to Mamoru with confusion etched in their faces. "Because I have no idea where they are since the stones went missing."

"Well, that puts a dent in things but we still need to make a plan." Minako crossed her arms and was trying to think.

Ami nodded. "And we also need to find out how we can restore their memories."

"Well, I, for one do not care if we find them or not because I don't want to see them." Rei stood up. "I gotta go, I have work to do in the Shrine."

"Same goes for me, my shift at the café is about to start," Makoto stood a bit too hastily and waved her friends goodbye and left with Rei.

"If that's the case then why don't we meet again tomorrow?" suggested Usagi to the others who all agree.

And so, each Senshi went on their own ways with thoughts of certain Shittenou in their minds and memories flooding their hearts.

A/N: I hope you guys enjoyed that chapter and I would really appreciate the feedback so I can better my work. I mean, this is the first completed anything I wrote in 5 months so excuse me if my skills are a bit rusty. But yeah, I'll try posting the newest chapter as soon as I can since school doesn't start 'til October yey!
