Hello, here is the next chapter.
Just to tell you once again, English is not my mothertongue, so it's quite hard for me to put on chapters with a smooth reading all along the chapters and I apologize for that.
However, I WILL NOT continue this fiction if I don't get any reviews. I already have a rough draw of the plot with its ending. I will write down chapter 10 and update it, but without comments, it will be the last one before I put this fiction into "abandonned".
See you for the next chapter.
Chapter 9:
In all honesty, jail was boring.
Ash didn't have anyone to talk to but the guard on duty, and the guard on duty was not allowed to talk to him, so basically, Ash had to make the conversation for two.
When he got arrested, Ash didn't even think of resisting, as he had a hard time trying to accept the truth.
Not only did the army prevented people from going outside the Wall, but they were as well maintaining a fake peace by killing all the ones who represented a danger.
It was boring and yet, the next weeks went on a blur. Ash barely remember being drag into custody rooms, were his lawyer and a third party would debate over his fate. He knew that he would be executed in the end, so what was the point of trying to argue for his freedom?
One night, Ash had a weird dream, again.
He was standing before a lake, facing two other figures. The first one was Mewtwo, which lazily levitated above the ground, and the other was… The General!
What was he doing here?
Ash noticed that the man was holding onto a strange device, hidden inside his fist. Mewtwo seemed to know about it, as its purple eyes kept scrutinizing the man, but whatever it was, it seemed to be tolerated.
They both seemed to be waiting as they watched the entrance of a dark cave. Ash could feel the pressure emanating from the mouth of the cave, and one thing was sure, he didn't want to be there at all.
After what seemed to be an eternity, the cave started to shook as the big gigantic beast of the previous dreams showed itself.
"My subordinates told me you want to avoid conflict?" Said the beast.
"Hu- Hum, yes," replied the General uneasily.
"And what makes you think that I want to avoid conflict?" Snapped the dragon, its eyes glowing menacingly. "You did nothing on your side to avoid it, yourselves. Why should I back up?"
"We did not – " began the man, but the beast cut it off.
"First, you made some researches on this hidden lab of yours, in our territory. Then, you triggered your scientific experiment – which is still on the run by the way – and then you sent us this girl, claiming that she was the aura guardian we were seeking, alongside so many humans sentenced to death that they could have recreated a whole civilization, were it not for the pokémon who slaughtered them before. What next? Oh, yeah, you sent soldiers to send you reports of some places behind the wall, and now, you are holding onto an escape stone in case I decide to cut you in two! And then, you dare to tell me that you aren't taking any actions against us! I find that laughable…"
Ash saw the General pale, before he opened his mouth again:
"Are you still searching for an aura guardian?"
"Don't tell me you find the right one, again! Snapped Mewtwo.
"Actually, I – "
"Stop!"
The telepathic impulse made Ash wince.
"You said you would be alone!" Boomed the beast, before fending the air with its dark and ghostly wing.
Ash saw the General breaking the escape stone at the same time the claws were about to land a hit, and everything went to black.
The day after, Ash found himself being thrown out into the unknown.
Due to the previous dream, Ash expected to be attacked on the second he was thrown into the pokémon's territory. It didn't happened, as he managed to reach the nearest trees, and looked back to see the wall.
Ash sighted.
I'm sure they are betting how long I'll survive…, he thought bitterly.
Ash resumed his walking, and kicked a nearby stone in frustration. He kept walking until the trees were so dense that the Sun could barely pierce through.
That might explain why he didn't see the hole in the first place.
The next thing he knew, he was stuck between two trees on their roots. And he was facing one of the weirdest creatures he was ever done to see.
The thing looked like a turtle, with giant leaves creating a green flower on its back. It had two wines attached to it, and some dark green spots on its head.
"Who… Who are you?" Said the weird thing.
"Ash!" The teenager replied without thinking.
"What kind of pokémon are you, Ash?" Asked the pokémon.
"I'm…no pokémon actually," Ash said uneasily.
"No way!" Said the tiny creature after a while. "Are you a h-u-m-a-n?"
"Yeah I'm a hum –"
"DON'T SAY IT LOUD!"
Ash kept his mouth shut.
"Sorry," came the creature's reply. "It's just…could attract bad fortune, and so on…"
"With Mewtwo?" Demanded Ash.
"Shhhh!" Hissed the creature. "Sorry, but I gotta go!"
And before Ash had the time to reply, the weird beast disappeared through the roots of the trees.
"O-Okay…", said the teenager, before shrugging.
Ash spent the twenty next minutes trying to climb up from the hole he had fallen into. As he couldn't, he sighted and sat down to think.
Where did the strange creature go? Thought Ash. Certainly not up where he had fallen, since it was too high to access.
Ash then noticed a very thin opening between two big roots. It took him a lot of squeezing and wincing in pain, but in the end, he managed to go through the roots only to end up in a dipper part of the forest.
Jeez, he thought. I need to find water…
Ash noticed that most of the pokémon that should be around didn't show up. Either they were afraid of him, either they were afraid of something else. Ash wondered if it had anything to do with the dragon-like beast as he made his way through the trees.
He finally ended up before a small pond. Ash sighed in relief and bent down to gulp water. When he stood up, he had a feeling of being watched. Ash turned his head and looked around, but noticed nothing abnormal.
"Anyone here?" He asked out loud.
The whisper of the wind was his only response.
"I can't believe I'm the only one around here, guys!" He kept going on. "There was this green pokémon and – I, I just know who you are guys, and please someone shows up… I mean no harm, I promise!"
No answer.
Damn it!
Ash stepped in front of a clearing. The sunlight momently blinded him as the trees didn't offered any protection against it. Ash made another step only to be stopped by a lightening bolt right in front of his feet.
Ask jerked back with a surprised yell, and fell on his butt. The next thing he saw was a fury, yellow kind of mouse which launched a thunderbolt on him. Ash yelled at the top of his lungs until the paralysis kicked in and he couldn't move.
"Nice shot!" said a creature that Ash couldn't see.
"Didn't expect to find the human so easily, I thought the species would be clever than that…", laughed the yellow mouse or whatever it was.
"Hey…", Ash managed to protest weakly. "Not...nice…"
"Oh, just shut the hell up!" The mouse went on, before slamming its tail on the back of Ash's head.
Everything faded to black.
Ash woke up to find himself tied up against a tree. He carefully opened his eyes to see that it was night time and that the two creatures had lighten up a fire. The yellow mouse was bigger than the bird, which Ash didn't find weird at all. There were dragons and giant purple cats after all…
The mouse was complaining;
"A pity that Abra couldn't join. The dude's hard to drag, and –"
"At least, you're not the one who has to flee over rivers and to drag you both! Lucky you, all the spearows of my family have strong muscles!"
"Oh, stop praising yourself! The only reason I joined on the mission was to see how a human looked like. Didn't expect to be asked to drag them back to the base…"
"Why don't we kill him, already?" Asked the bird.
"Something to do with a broken treaty and humans denying it… Apparently, they want actual proofs to declare war on humans. After that…what happens to him is not my problem."
Ash slowly raised his head and tried to see if he could untie himself. The yellow mouse came to him.
"Hey, don't even think of escaping, human! I have very good ears I will know if you're up to something stupid! Now go back to sleep!"
"What's this war thing?" Ash asked instead.
"Not sure we can talk about that, Pika…" said the spearow.
The mouse turned at him.
"What do you think he's going to do? He's tied up and besides, Abra comes tomorrow for pick up. The fact that he knows or not is not important."
"Does it have anything to do with Mewtwo?" Ash asked innocently.
Both pokémon were startled, so Ash went on:
"I had relations where I used to work, and we are all aware of who Mewtwo is."
After a quick thinking, Ash decided to not talk about the giant dragon.
"I just know that we aren't allowed outside the wall, and that our general does everything in his power to prevent the war from happening."
"Listen human," said the bird. "This scumbag doesn't do anything right at all! Our superiors have been patient, but now it's over. We are prepared and we will –"
"Stop! You're saying way too much!" Cut the mouse. "We're going to get in trouble for –"
Both pokémon were cut by a loud BUMP. Ash looked around wildly only to see the spearow being thrown away with brutal strength by something heavy and dark.
The mouse started charging a thunderbolt but a green paw with two heavy and sharp claws sent it flying backwards as well. The yellow pokémon crashed onto the bird, and didn't raised him.
"Holly shit!" Said Ash has the newcomer turned its head to look at him. The massive pokémon then peacefully walked to him, as Ash added: "Please don't hurt me!".
The claws glowed once more and untied Ash's rope. It fell on the floor as the teenager quickly stood and backed up.
The pokémon didn't move, its yellow eyes still on Ash. The teenager raised his hands between him and the weird creature. The pokémon did nothing.
"You – You aren't going to attack me?" Asked Ash shyly.
No answer.
"Errr, you pokémons aren't really good with chit-chat, aren't you?" Sighted Ash, before dropping his arms to the side and studying the newcomer.
It had a massive bulk of a black body terminated by two front paws with heavy green claws that would cut very easily through a wall, like a knife on butter. It had a giant blue and white fin. Ash noticed that its back legs didn't have any claws, but that didn't make the pokémon less deadly.
Its head was covered by a very thick brown helmet which seemed to be worn out by age. An axe-like gray part sprouted on the top of the helmet, which Ash deduced that it was part of the head.
"How is it possible for you to have a helmet?" Wondered Ash out loud.
The pokémon laid itself down in the dirt, and designed its back with its head and then looked intensively at Ash.
"Wait? You – You want me to hop in?"
The pokémon nodded.
"What tells me you're not going to deliver me to whatever – or should I say whoever – the two were talking about?"
The pokémon stood up very quickly in comparison to its size, and before Ash had the time to proceed what was going on, he was sitting on its back.
The teenager had just the time to register that the pokémon was composed of heavy mechanics before leaped on. The only thing Ash could hang on to was the helmet as the pokémon speed up. Ash hung himself tighter as the weird pokémon ran off in the night, its prize on its back.
