Two days later
It's adoption day, Riley is getting ready. Olivia has already gotten herself ready and is getting Jasmine dressed in her little pink dress. Noah was also getting ready.
30 minutes later
"Are we all ready to go?" Olivia asked
"Yeah." Noah said
The family of four walked out of the house and got into their car.
45 minutes later they arrived at the courthouse.
"The Benson adoption case." The bailiff announced
Riley and Olivia stood up. Riley handed Jasmine to Noah because he wanted to hold her.
Riley and Olivia sat down in front of the judge.
"Miss Benson, why do you wish to adopt Miss Williams today?" The Judge asked
Olivia took a breath,
"Um well because I love her. And because she needs a family." She paused.
"This girl. Riley, she's my daughter. I don't mean legally. At least not yet, but in my heart, mind, and soul I feel that she was meant to be my daughter. And I was meant to be her mother." Olivia said
The Judge gave a nod,
"Okay. And Miss Williams, why do you want Miss Benson to be your mother?"
Riley thought for a second before she spoke.
"When I first met Olivia I didn't have a lot going for me. The odds were against me. Foster kid. Troubled teen. And I was mostly alone. I thought nobody would ever foster me again." Riley explained
"But I was wrong though. I got lucky because Olivia took a chance on me. She took me into her home and fostered me. She gave me a second chance at life. She loved me like a daughter even when I pushed her away and tried to shut her out. She tore down my walls and became my mom, because she never gave up on me." She paused and took a breath.
"Olivia would probably say she's lucky to have me, but we're the lucky ones. I'm lucky to have gotten such an amazing Mama." Riley said
"Alright then I see no reason not to grant the adoption." The Judge said
"Miss Williams, could you please come up and sign your new name." The judge said
Riley nodded as she approached the Judge's desk and then she signed 'Riley Georgia Benson'. Olivia walked up to the Judge's desk and sighed her name on the adoption paper where it read 'adoptive parent'.
The Judge stamped the paper with an official seal.
Miss Anderson, you are from now Riley Georgia Benson. I wish you all the best of luck. Case dismissed." The judge said as she banged the gravel.
"Thank you." Olivia replied as she hugged her daughter and kissed her temple.
Riley hugged her mother back. Then Noah walked up to them and hugged them.
"So we are a family now." Noah said
"Yes we are." Olivia said
"Can we celebrate with ice cream?" Noah said
"Yes please." Riley said
"Sure why not." Olivia said as they walked out of the courthouse.
