Chapter Fifteen:
Today was one of those days.
Sasuke was feeling frustrated with everything that was happening. Not only was there a big test coming up at school, he wasn't focusing because he was thinking about the date that Itachi had. He didn't want Itachi going on dates!
What sucked more was that Itachi was at work so he couldn't express his frustration to him,
Sasuke had come home and gone straight to Chiyo's apartment. There he had change from his school uniform to more casual clothes, and snatched a few other things he would need for his outing.
With money in his pocket, and his comfortable shoes on, Sasuke headed out of the apartment once locked, and ran to the nearest grocery store. Chiyo was too busy to notice as she was planning on making a nice dinner. She had planned it the moment that she heard that Itachi would be out late.
Sasuke knew that she would want to share and have his company, but he simply couldn't wait around doing nothing.
He had other plans for tonight.
Like sulking all alone while waiting for Itachi to get back to him…
Once in the store, he bought himself a few tomatoes, a water bottle, and some chips. Sasuke then strolled to the park with his little black plastic bag and took a seat on one of the swings. He was pouting, he knew, but that didn't stop him from aggressively biting into his poor tomato.
He hated this feeling so much.
He didn't want this feeling, whatever it was, at all.
Although the question Chiyo had asked him once kept coming back to the forefront of his mind, what was it that he wanted from Itachi?
His immediate thought was that he wanted nothing…but he knew that wasn't true. Deep down inside he wanted something so much but the idea of what it was eluded him past that he just wanted to stay at Itachi's side—no matter what.
His eyes finally looked up to watch the kids playing. The fact that there were parents standing around chatting, and every now and then glancing towards their children caught his attention.
Sasuke wondered if Itachi would be like that with him. If he found out that he was really just a ten year old demon would Itachi treat him like a child, bring him to the swings and stand around just watching him like a parent would?
Would Itachi scold him and place rules and expectations on him. It wasn't the first time Sasuke had seen kids and their parents interact, he saw them at school now as well. He once had a mom and his dad was a shebang so no, he didn't want Itachi to be his parent.
Somehow, the thought of Itachi treating him like a child did not sit well with Sasuke.
No, he didn't want that.
He liked what he had with Itachi right now, sure, but it could be more…so much more. Swinging a bit he felt lost, wondering what that more was…
Perking up at the sight of two running boys, Sasuke watched as the younger one pouted and cried to the mean older child. Sasuke knew that siblings all acted differently, but more often than not would pick on each other. He vaguely remembered his own siblings to be honest.
What if Itachi treated him like a brother?
Would he bully him like that…Sasuke flinched when the older boy placed boogers all over the younger, and mercilessly teased him over it. The younger cried, stomping around before running towards his mother, causing fear to cross the elder's face.
No, Itachi would definitely be a lot kinder if he was his brother, he was sure. Itachi was way too sweet and polite to ever be that mean, even to his own brother.
He had no doubts it.
But also no, brother was not the way Sasuke wanted Itachi to see him like either, even if it would probably be nice to be his brother.
Then what?
Sasuke's small face twisted in thought as he tried to figure out what he wanted. Sighing in defeat when he couldn't think of nothing, he looked around once more. He paused when he saw a small girl smiling up at a slightly older boy.
She shyly held out a flower to him, her face turning a slight pink as she did so. The boy smiled kindly, delicately taking the flower from her, and leaning to kiss her cheek in thanks. The girl smiled widely hugging the boy so suddenly that the boy staggered back in surprise.
The sound of mothers giggling and taking pictures of the sweet scene made Sasuke turn to them, and how they gushed at the sight. It was a bit strange how they acted over it, especially when the boy and girl started to hold hands.
"Oh they're so cute together!" One of the mothers giggled.
"I hope they get married," the other one murmured making the other one agree with that statement and they giggled maniacally.
Married…
Sasuke had heard the concept before from Suigetsu while he had been talking with Karin. Marriage was a ball and chain that kept you together forever. It sounded so much like a very pleasant spell where you agreed to be with one person for all eternity and that sounded exactly like what he wanted with Itachi.
Yeah, that was it!
He wanted to be like that with Itachi…just what would it be like…being married to Itachi…
Looking up at the sky and noticing the position of the sun, Sasuke knew it was time to head back. He skipped off the swing and went on his way, making sure to throw his trash in one of the bins there. Sasuke looked around himself, making sure that he was not being followed as he ran the rest of the familiar path to home.
Itachi was going to be there soon and he wanted to greet him!
Using his copy of the key he opened miss Chiyo's apartment door, he went to go change and shift back to his cat form. With that he ran out through the window and took the blind spot towards Itachi's bedroom window. It was a bit of a struggle, especially with paws, but he managed to push the window open enough to squeeze himself inside.
He then turned to shut the window completely, locking it, and ran into the living room, climbing over the couch.
He was a bit bigger in his cat form than he had been when Itachi first found him. With the bit of height and weight that he had gained, Sasuke was capable of jumping higher with less effort than before. Itachi often told him how beautifully he was growing up to be, and it filled him with pride.
He wanted nothing less than to be perfect for Itachi.
His ears perked up when he heard the lock on the door turn and he rushed, meowing his welcome to Itachi who smiled at him the moment that he saw him. Sasuke spun around a few times, tail flicking around happily, before getting on his hind legs begging to be picked up.
Itachi knew better than to ignore him, because the next thing he would do was jump him.
"So lucky you always have him here to greet you back home, I miss Suigetsu," Kisame sobbed as he walked past the reunited pet and owner. Suigetsu had been working a lot more lately so that meant that Kisame had to go out and meet him with no guarantees of sleepovers.
"Aren't the two of you going out tonight?" Itachi asked as he held Kitty against his chest, the little thing going wild as he nuzzled and melted against him with purrs.
"Hell yeah," Kisame sighed dreamily, "He's working late today but he called me this morning and said that he wanted me to pick him up so we could go out on a date. He gets out at ten at night though so I think we're just going to get dinner, fuck in the car, and then call it a night because you know work in the morning and shit."
"I didn't need to know all of that," Itachi said, disgusted at the idea of Kisame taking the jeep and fucking Suigetsu in the backseat.
Sasuke blinked, paying attention to everything Kisame was saying. After all, he knew Kisame was going to marry Suigetsu, he needed to learn what that meant exactly.
Starting with what was a date exactly and what did one do on it, because he was sure he didn't like the idea of Itachi on one of them with anyone.
He wanted to ask so badly…maybe he could ask some of the other kids at school?
Girls seemed to know all about dates since they talked about it. And fucking…was Kisame referring to sex?
Sasuke was sure he knew a lot about Kisame and Suigetsu's relationship at this point, seeing as Suigetsu loved to talk about it like it was the best thing in the world.
Sasuke had to disagree.
Being with Itachi, melted in his arms- like he was right now- and breathing his scent was the best thing in the whole world!
"The fuck, why does he keep bringing that up?"
Suigetsu was on the phone, on video call with his friend Karin, again. She was complaining about the guy she was currently dating, again.
"I don't know, I mean fuck, it just makes me feel so fucking stupid," Karin sighed, sounding like she'd been crying and was tired.
The drama was really something, and Sasuke was hooked in listening in to the juicy details while he pretended that he was licking through his fur.
"Look Karin, if you ask me I think any girl worth anything wouldn't date that guy. Especially if he says he can't trusts you and then accuses you of thinking of your ex-boyfriends when you're not. Isn't that like a dick move and classic manipulation bull shit?"
"Look I just don't know what to do to anymore. I don't know how I can convince him that he can trust me and that I'm not comparing him to any fucking ex…" Karin's voice cut in dry and sad, as she rolled her eyes in defeat.
"Should you really have to convince him?" Suigetsu asked.
Karin sighed, shaking her head with a shrug. "I don't know."
"Are you happy with him?" Suigetsu didn't want to overstep or tell Karin what to do. At the end of the day it was her relationship and he could only be there to support her. Telling her to break up with him wasn't going to be the answer, she'd have to come up with it herself.
"I…yeah I guess I am…" her lips tried to form a smile, but she didn't seem to have the strength.
"You know that whatever you decide I'm always here for you, right bitch?" he said, trying to be more lighthearted about the situation.
It worked, because Karin snorted a little laugh. "I know, well…" She sniffed a bit, trying to get out of her sad thoughts, "Anyways, where the hell are you dude, that doesn't look like your apartment—oh my gosh, what a cute kitten!" She gushed when she spotted Kitty over Suigetsu's shoulder.
The cat's large red eyes and the grayish blue fur making her squeal, especially since he looked so soft, she could imagine herself squeezing it.
Suigetsu grinned when Kitty moved to poke his head to look at the phone. He hadn't even noted that the little creature had been sitting so close by. He usually hid in Itachi's room, unconcerned with anyone that wasn't his owner.
"I'm at Kisame's place, you know, my wonderful and rich boyfriend," Suigetsu said it so proudly these days. Not because Kisame was rich or anything, but because he was just his wonderful boyfriend overall.
"Oh the sugar daddy," Karin teased, a wicked grin crossing her face as she let go of her woes to instead impede on someone else's. "The one that has you spoiled rotten now a days. I can't believe that you're still with him. How is it that he hasn't dumped your freeloader ass?"
"Hey, this man loves me. I'm so sure that soon he will ask me to marry him." Suigetsu sounded confident and so completely giddy about it.
"Oh wow, I hope so." Karin looked amazed, and then added, "Careful, you don't want your heart broken again little fish."
She had seen her friend hurt so many times that she was scared to push him into something without knowing if it was the right thing for him. She allowed Suigetsu to do as he pleased though, so long as he was happy she didn't oppose him.
So far Kisame sounded like a good guy.
"Yeah, what happened in the past sucked, but I think this guy means it when he says he loves me." Suigetsu shifted to lay on the couch. The Kitten moved to lay on one of the arms of the couch, turning his head to keep looking at Karin. Suigetsu noticed, and shifted the phone for him.
"I believe you," Karin smiled.
Oh Kisame adored this guy alright.
Sasuke was annoyed at how he cried and whined whenever Suigetsu wasn't able to spend the night over. It had been annoying the past couple of days but the fact that Suigetsu was here today meant Kisame was getting his wish, and he will be able to keep Suigetsu here tonight.
"I mean he trusts me you know. What kind of guy goes to work and just leaves their boyfriend in their house alone? Wouldn't he be scared if I tried to steal his things?" Suigetsu ranted off, listing all the liberties Kisame allowed him.
"Oh Suigetsu, has he told you anything about your water usage?" Karin asked, knowing that it was a topic that usually brought arguments in Suigetsu's relationships.
"Yeah, his roommate isn't too happy about it. They already told me to curve it unless I want to pay for the whole water bill. I think just long soaks in the bath should be fine. If anything he can say shit, I babysit this little monster for him" Suigetsu smirked.
"Well if he ever breaks your heart, we can just ruin him." Karin said matter of fact. Suigetsu sputtered, unsettled with the idea but he knew that Karin would do anything for him, same as he would for her. Protecting each other was always number one.
Sasuke perked up.
Ruin him? How could one ruin someone?
Sasuke frowned a little thinking he had to be more careful. He didn't want to accidentally ruin Itachi.
"Suigetsu, I have no idea how you get men to be so comfortable with you in that way but okay, stop boasting already. He takes care of you and might even love you," Karin huffed, obviously envious.
"Not might, he does love me. I get a different feeling with this guy. He doesn't just shove his dick up my ass and rolls over to fall asleep afterwards. He actually holds me in his arms and whispers really nice things, and continues to kiss me even after it's done. You don't stick your tongue up someone's asshole if you don't love him!" Suigetsu exclaimed.
The kitten beside him perked up at the turn in this conversation. His eyes slightly widened as he had not expected this kind of stuff to be said.
Eww, why would anyone want to do that, period!
"What does love have anything to do with sex Suigetsu?" Karin sounded exasperated, "Who doesn't like sex, you don't have to be in love to do things like that with someone,"
"I guess not, but he touches me so gently and doesn't get scared when I tell him all the freaky things I like to do. We could even just sit for hours talking, holding hands and doing nothing more than just kissing and it would still be the best night of my life," Suigetsu murmured, looking up dazedly. "It's incredible."
"It's either he's got you ensnared, or you are just in love with his money," Karin said offhandedly.
Well she was a bit cynical, but judging that the guy she was cuddling with betrayed her, Sasuke guessed her attitude made sense. He definitely would not like it if Itachi cuddled with someone else, or accused him of doing such…
"I'm in love with Kisame, If you took everything else away, and it was only him, that is all that I would need." Suigetsu said it so sincerely that even Karin could feel it.
"You are so corny," Karin giggled. "Alright, I believe you, you're in love with this guy,"
"Yup,"
"I wish I could find someone like you have, I keep finding only losers. How am I supposed to change that?" Karin softly asked.
"Stop looking online for them, and actually look at the ones around you." Suigetsu suggested.
Karin sighed, rolling her eyes. "Right,"
"I could hook you up with Kisame's roommate if you want?" Suigetsu offered, making Sasuke tense. "He's looking for someone. The guy is a bit quiet, but he's not bad looking at all. He's one of those drop dead gorgeous kind of guys that makes you feel scared to get too close because he might just eat you alive with is eyes alone."
"No thanks," Karin shook her head, "I don't want to be hooked up," she sighed.
The two talked for a bit longer before Suigetsu got to his feet and started to get ready for the day. He muttered something about how happy he was Kisame was taking him on a date tonight.
Sasuke shook his head, shifting into his demon form once Suigetsu stepped out to do some shopping.
It was already ten in the morning, it was a bit early for him to be up on a Saturday, but he couldn't sleep. The fact that Itachi told him that he had a date today was keeping him from sleeping properly. He was anxious, his claws digging into any surface with how tense he was.
It bothered him enough that he was having nightmares, and his tummy churned uncomfortably.
Damn it, he hated this feeling.
He already hated that Itachi would get on his phone and not pay him much attention. Not like he could make him, he was just a cat and nothing else. Sasuke felt sad as he curled up in the couch, unwittingly turning back into his cat form.
He was trying hard not to feel sad and cry, he just couldn't understand why this bothered him so much.
Closing his eyes, he tried his best to clear his mind but only succeeded in falling into a restless sleep.
Later that same day, he was woken up by the sound of the door closing and Kisame loudly talking. The man sounded excited about something.
Sasuke didn't care, feeling too tired.
"Kitty?"
Sasuke's ears perked up at the sound of Itachi's voice, and he was up, fully awake and searching for him. He rushed over to the man, jumping around him excitedly. Relief filled him at the sight of his demon, here, with him and not somewhere else.
"Look at how happy he is to see you Itachi," Kisame chuckled, finding the sight of the kitten so adorable as he rubbed himself against Itachi's legs, meowing vocally at him. Itachi smiled, reaching down to pick up his affectionate kitten, cuddling him into his chest.
"He is excited, are you hungry my lovely?" Itachi asked, rubbing just behind the kitten ears. The purr of approval that followed along with a few meows told Itachi everything that he needed to know.
Sasuke melted into Itachi's arms.
Yes, he was Itachi's lovely, Itachi's kitty, Itachi's everything!
Sasuke's claws dug onto the shirt before him, refusing to let go.
Itachi frowned, unhooking the little claws gently away and setting his kitty down.
He then moved to prepare food for Kitty. He didn't have to think about what to cook anymore, he just automatically decided on what he was sure was the kitten's favorite.
"So what are you and Izumi going to do for your date?" Kisame suddenly asked, reaching into the fridge for an apple.
While it had been annoying to be called in for an assignment on a Saturday, the fact that Itachi was going on a date had them all excited. As soon as Kisame dropped the bomb a group chat had been made in order for Kisame to report back to them anything interesting that might happen.
Sasuke bristled, fur standing on point.
"I asked her what she wanted to do and told me that it was up to me," Itachi rubbed at his forehead, wearily, "What am I supposed to do with that information? It's not like I know what she likes. I've never even been on a date before. I haven't even replied to her with what the plan is going to be."
If there was anything that placed Itachi on edge, it was being unprepared. It felt like he was off to a battlefield with no clue as to what to expect. He tried telling himself that it wasn't too bad. That sometimes he worked well when he did things on a whim, but fuck if he as unmotivated to place too much thought on this date.
"You could go for the cliché dinner and movie combo," Kisame offered, taking a seat as he watched Itachi cook.
"I guess I could do that,"
"There's nothing wrong with that," Kisame nodded, biting hard into his apple.
Itachi crossed his arms as he glared down at the food frying on the pan. "Shouldn't a date be more involved though? Like talking and getting to know each other..."
"Suigetsu and I barely started doing things like that, you know sitting in the car and talking after a nice round of sex," Kisame said, "I don't think you and Izumi are at that stage yet, but it's the first date. Just get a feel for each other right now."
Itachi shook his head. "That is not what I meant," he said, but decided to drop things there.
He didn't think Kisame would understand what he meant. It was difficult to find someone who didn't want to jump into bed right away. What Itachi wanted was a connection, something to hold on to. The other stuff would follow, and would be a part of it, sure, but he wanted it to mean something.
Maybe he was just asking for too much.
Maybe it wouldn't be that bad.
Maybe Izumi would be more than what he was expecting.
"Just do yourself a favor and don't overthink it, just take her out to the movies and buy her some dinner. Girls love to eat even if they say that they don't," Kisame said as he got up and walked out of the kitchen. "I'll catch you later, I'm going to prepare for my date,"
Itachi ignored Kisame, focused on the food in front of him.
For now, since it was the first he guess it would be fine. They would have more time to get to know each other beyond this first date later. Finishing his kitten's meal he plated it and placed it on the table for him. He poked the kitten's forehead when the little creature tried to rush to the food.
"It's hot," he said when the Kitten growled at him.
It was so freaking cute, how could any kitten be this adorable.
He tried several more times to get to the meal, until finally he ended up nabbing Itachi's hand, his claws brushing the skin as his teeth playfully nipped at the fingertips. Itachi gently chuckled, raising an eyebrow at his attacking kitten. Big round red eyes blinked up at him, so mischievous and beautiful. Itachi smiled fondly.
"I'd rather spend my day napping with you than have to go out,"
The kitten purred, begging him, yes that sounded like a good idea.
That's perfect, don't go out with anyone.
Frowning when he heard his phone go off, Itachi patted the kitten and told him to go ahead and eat, sure that the food was cool enough now. Itachi then turned his back on Kitty, reaching for his phone and glaring at the caller ID.
Sasuke growled, glaring down at his food.
First thing first, he needed to get rid of that damned phone. Sasuke climbed off the table and followed after Itachi when the demon moved to take the call somewhere else. He easily followed his scent into the bedroom, watching as Itachi scrambled around to pull out some clothes and a towel.
"Yes I can meet you at your place, there's no problem." He said pausing for a second. Sasuke took the chance to prance over to him and rub himself all over his leg, meowing loudly. "No you don't have to apologize, mother has bad timing. It's really alright, I don't mind picking you up."
Itachi seemed to listen, barely glancing at his kitty, mindful to make sure he knew where he was despite concentrating on what the girl on the other side was saying.
"Sure, see you in a bit." Itachi stepped aside as he ended the call and went into the bathroom.
Sasuke was fast in running after him before he closed the door. Itachi sighed, glancing at his kitty briefly before turning on the water and stripping down. Sasuke sat down tapping his tail up and down as he watched Itachi with a slow growl.
Itachi smiled at him, "Mushkitty you want to join me?" he asked, teasingly.
Sasuke's ears perked up before he huffed and turned his head, licking at his paw in order to ignore Itachi.
Itachi softly chuckled as he closed the curtain and started to wash himself. By the time that he was done, he blinked when he found his kitty happily spread over the clothes he had stripped out of earlier.
He snatched his towel and dried himself, first pulling up his boxers to start with. He then took a moment to look over the clothes he had chosen for tonight's date.
Itachi truly wasn't experienced.
He didn't really go out on dates.
But he did go out with friends and this would be something that he would wear. His friends never expressed that he dressed badly to be honest, and Konan would have surely have mentioned something if he did.
Tugging on the black long sleeve T and some black biker jeans Itachi hung his towel and left the bathroom. He ran his finger a bit through his hair, reaching for his brush. The long black silky strands didn't need much attention.
Sasuke got up, following after him.
Itachi pulled on some socks and then black hiking boots. He blinked when he noticed his kitten looking up at him, unblinking.
The sight was startling.
He crouched down to pet him, and the little kitten immediately erupted into purrs, easily butting his head into his the palms of his hands.
"I really, really wish I could stay and take a nap with you," Itachi softly said. He really did sound like an old man. It wasn't even that late in the day and he was already wishing to go to bed.
The kitty meowed at him, purring even louder and rubbing himself more insistently against Itachi. It was just so adorable Itachi reached for him and hugged him to his chest.
"Be a good boy okay, I will be back soon," he said, pressing a kiss to the top of the kittens head and walked him over to the bed. Once Kitty was placed gently on it, Itachi took a glance at his phone before reaching for his hoodie and walked out of the bedroom.
Sasuke was devastated, rushing after him meowing loudly.
Itachi walked out the door, not once looking back at him and Sasuke was left feeling utterly upset over it.
Itachi texted Kisame that he took the jeep, not fully remembering if the man said he would have a date or not, it didn't matter.
He was sure that they would make do with Suigetsu's car.
Itachi ignore any response he got from Kisame as he input the address that Izumi had sent him. Once the GPS was set, he made his way to Izumi's house.
It was already a big change in plans, but he didn't mind. He had planned for their date so they could meet half way because she lived so far, but that didn't matter anymore. She said her car had broken down, so this was okay.
It saved on the confusion as to where they should meet.
Izumi was a very conservative girl. She said she didn't get out much and was unfamiliar with a lot of the area. It would probably be good to choose a place that she could become familiar with, and hopefully liked.
Kisame's idea of a movie and dinner was what Itachi decided would be best.
The question then became what would she like to see. Itachi knew what he liked, but wasn't sure if she would agree with his tastes. Guess he will know once he asks her.
When he got to her house, he blinked when he saw that she was nervously waiting outside. She had on a white puffy sweater but the shirt underneath looked so thin and sheer. She even shivered in her platted white skirt and strappy black high heels.
Itachi got off the car and walked over to properly greet her.
"Hey Izumi," He said. It had been a while since he last saw her and she definitely looked more grown up.
"Hey Itachi," She smiled at him, shivering a bit.
"Izumi, do you think maybe you'd like to change, it's a cold evening." He said as he placed his hands inside of his hoodie. Even if he was wearing a long sleeve and sweater, he was still a bit chilly. His hair was also a bit damp, and out of a tie.
Izumi blinked, looking at him a bit perplexed before shaking her head. Her hair fell over her face a bit, and she brushed it aside with a slight blush.
"No I'm fine." She said, trying hard not to shiver again.
Itachi thought it over, thinking he did have another sweater in the car he could lend her if it got too cold.
"Alright, you ready to go?" he asked instead.
She nodded, smiling again, "Yeah, where are we going?" she asked as he opened the passenger door for her. She grimaced at the tall jeep. Having to climb up with high heels was an art form, truly one she hoped made look nice and elegant.
"I was hoping we could go to dinner and movie," He said, looking at her once she was seated inside.
She smiled widely. "Sounds good," she said, shifting around to get comfortable.
Okay, at least she approved.
"Alright, careful while I shut the door," Itachi offered her a smile as he closed her door.
He walked around, taking a deep breath to settle the sudden nerves he was feeling. What was it that Konan usually said about girls…ah he probably should have complimented her clothes. But they really did look too small and like she would be cold.
No, he was thinking too much. Now wasn't the time for that.
Taking a final deep breath, Itachi got into the driver seat and started the car once more, driving off to their destination.
Izumi sat there, squirming a bit. It was so silent in the car, she didn't know what to say and was scared to reach for the radio. Biting her lip a few times, and glancing from the road to Itachi, she finally just decided to say something.
"So Itachi, what music do you listen to?" she asked, trying her best to break the ice.
"Hm, I haven't really thought about it, I usually just listen to what my friends listen to. They are very loud about what they like." Itachi said, his eyes remaining on the road.
"How can you not like to listen to something?" Izumi asked, raising an eyebrow. She found it hard to believe that Itachi didn't like something in specific.
"I listen to podcast sometimes," Itachi glanced over at her, feeling pressured to say something that he liked.
"Oh," Izumi muttered, "I don't listen to any…"
Itachi really would listen to anything his partner would like to listen to because he didn't mind music either way. It wasn't something that he sought out himself but that didn't mean he didn't like it. There were a few songs that he really liked, but honestly couldn't name right at the top of his head. Oh right…
"Would you like to listen to something? You can see if you find something you like in there," he gestured to the sound system. Everyone was always adding new songs, so really they should have about everything in there.
Izumi hesitated, what if Itachi didn't like the music that she liked. Thinking quickly she said, "Oh okay," and started to look around. She could choose one that she heard other guys talking about, it might make her look cool in front of Itachi.
She glanced at Itachi, looking him up and down, thinking that he was just so cool. Itachi dressed so simple but it didn't look bad on him.
Maybe like a rocker…
What followed was silence between them as Izumi did her best to look for something that Itachi might actually find interesting in relation to her.
Glancing up, she gasped when they got to a large outdoor mall.
She felt a bit uncomfortable, since she was used to fine dining and more upper-class types of theatres. But she had told Itachi to choose so it wasn't like she could take it back. A part of her had assumed that because Itachi came from money that he would have the same expensive tastes.
It was a bit disappointing to find that it wasn't the case.
She sat back with a slight pout as he found a parking space between other lower class cars, in the center of a large lot she would have to walk through.
"We're here," Itachi said as he opened his door. He ensured he had everything before glancing at her. She pulled a smile at him.
Itachi got out, confused as to why she wasn't readily getting out. He walked around and opened the door for her, offering his hand in help. She relented, and decided that it was a nice try on his part, but she would definitely be choosing the place next time.
Taking his hand she climbed down and kept close to him, her hand looked around his arm as they walked towards the crowded mall.
The next challenge was finding a place to go eat—there were so many places.
Itachi pointed out all the restaurants that he knew while they stood next to a dreadful and dirty fountain. It wasn't even running the way it should.
Despite his descriptions, she wasn't sure what to choose, she had never had food in any of them and the place that sold Sushi looked like it was overflowing with people, they might get stuck there all night.
"Why don't you choose Itachi, I'll eat what you recommend. I'm afraid I've never been to any of these," She finally admitted.
"Oh, sure, my favorite is that one, they have this really sweet chicken and cabbage dish you might like," Itachi said, pointing to where they sold an assortment of chicken dishes.
Izumi stiffly nodded.
The two walked over and Itachi asked her if she had a preference. She looked at the menu, but couldn't decide and asked that he order her the same as he was having.
She was indeed surprised to taste that it was so sweet and good.
"Wow do you have this often, this is good," she gushed, surprised with herself for liking something that the common person would like.
"Not all the time, I prefer to eat at home most of the time. If not I eat with my colleagues in the office," Itachi said.
"Hm, I like eating out a lot!" Izumi cheerily said, "I especially like all the delicate dishes at that restaurant Amaterasu, we should go next time! It's within the Uchiha district!"
"Oh" Itachi said, thinking that those delicate dishes were ridiculously overpriced. "Sure,"
"In fact we have a lot of cool places to eat and watch movies in the Uchiha District, how come we didn't go there, we were within it," She implored, giving him a curious look.
"Oh, since you said you weren't familiar with the area I thought I'd show you some places I knew. I live around here after all," Itachi explained, wondering if perhaps he had chosen wrong.
"Ah," Izumi giggled, her hand placed over her mouth, "Silly me, I guess that is why you said I should choose a place but I wanted you to pick because I didn't think I would choose properly," she said, making no sense to him.
"There is nothing about choosing properly, we are dating so I'd like to know what you like." Itachi looked down at his food, moving it around with little interest. "It's okay to let me know what you prefer."
"Then I will choose next time!" Izumi confidently said.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" Itachi asked. After all, this is what he liked. He was now worried that she didn't like it at all.
"Yeah!" Izumi said with a large smile. "I'm having fun!"
Itachi returned the smile, relieved.
The two finished their meal and then walked to the theater. Izumi shivered as they entered. The place was a bit crowded with people waiting in line. The large room was cold, carpeted in reds and gold, while the front glowed to show off the candy and popcorn that they sold.
Izumi felt uncomfortable, looking around and being on alert.
"Are you okay?" Itachi asked when he noticed her press closer to his side.
"Yeah fine," she said.
"Do you want to choose what movie we will watch, the list is over there." Itachi gestured towards the wall where the movie list was. Izumi looked them all over, she had not heard of any of them. She wasn't an avid watcher of movies if she was honest.
"I will watch what you like," Izumi dismissed.
"I don't mind what you'd like," Itachi said.
"Uh, I guess that one sounds like it will be cute," She said, pointing to one of the names. Itachi looked it over and nodded. "I don't know what it will be about, so I want to watch it,"
"Yeah sure, that's a good one," Itachi assured.
Soon enough it was their turn and they bought their tickets. Izumi squirmed as they waited in the lobby for when the movie would start. She kept looking around, looking a bit uncomfortable making Itachi wonder what he should do to make her feel better.
But when he asked again, she said she was fine and that just made it even more difficult for him.
"You know you can be honest with me, are you perhaps cold?" Itachi asked, concern for her at this point.
"No," She automatically said before sighing and admitting, "okay maybe a little and I guess I'm just not used to these kinds of places. I keep thinking that it's not that clean and I feel like people are looking at me strangely," Izumi whispered, looking like she hadn't wanted to say all that. "I'm more used to all the things inside the Uchiha District,"
Itachi nodded, understanding.
She had said she was unfamiliar with the area.
It made sense if she did feel a bit of discomfort.
He had left the Uchiha District because he felt like that place wasn't really for him. That was not the case for Izumi, she actually liked it.
"It's fine. If you want we can leave here and go there instead," He offered her.
"No, you already bought the tickets, I want to see the movie," She shivered, although she was trying her best not to seem like she was cold.
Itachi sighed, and took off his hoodie, placing it around her. "Here, you look cold." He said, this time forgoing asking her if she wanted his sweater or not.
Izumi blushed, her heart jumping in her chest when she felt the sudden heat that enveloped her. She was momentarily stunned by Itachi's soft scent, making her melt in his lingering warmth.
"I was hoping I'd look beautiful for you," she muttered, looking down shyly. She had been hoping so badly that he say that she looked at least cute or something, but he hadn't.
Itachi chuckled, "You are beautiful Izumi, but I prefer that you'd be comfortable. I know your clothes don't represent who you are. I'd like to get to know you,"
Izumi's entire face exploded red.
Why, her mind screamed, why did he want to know her?
"I-Itachi you're so handsome," She blurted before hiding her face in her hands with a groan at how stupid that sounded. "I meant to say, you're very considerate and sweet,"
Itachi shook his head with a slight smile, "Shall we head inside?" he asked.
That was when Izumi noticed that it was time to go inside and nodded. She handed her ticket over, her heart pounding as they entered the theatre room. She followed Itachi, holding onto his hand as they carefully made their way to their seats. She sat stiffly in her chair, feeling a bit iffy about the red plush. Every now and then she would clench her hand in his hoodie, feeling happy despite the fact that she was sitting in a questionable seat.
It gave her comfort.
Itachi was bored half way through the movie and tried to stifle a yawn. Glancing at Izumi he was glad to find that she was entertained with the simple love story playing on the screen. He discretely pulled out his cell phone, smiling when he received several picture text messages from Kisame.
All of them of his kitten, that according to Kisame was being a murderous little demon. Itachi really wanted to go home and snuggle with that little ball of fur, warm, in his bed, reading a book…
Oh man, he was becoming some sort of recluse or something if that was what he was wishing.
Who'd want to be home in their bed with their cat reading a book?
That sounded so boring even to him, and yet…it sounded like the most wonderful thing in the world. Shoving his phone back into his pocket, Itachi glanced at the movie, wishing it would end soon. Unfortunately, the main couple was barely going through the rough patch that the villain was preparing for them.
He was about done when the movie lasted another forty minutes, and he found it difficult to stay focused.
Izumi was lively though, speaking about the movie as they walked out of the theatre. Itachi had to nod and smile, because he had no idea what she was half talking about, he had zoned out through most of it.
"I'm glad that you enjoyed the movie, it wasn't so bad was it?" Itachi asked, trying to change the subject away from the movie itself.
"Not at all, I suppose." Izumi grinned. "Thank you, Itachi."
"No problem. It's good to try new things," he said.
"Next time I will choose okay," She insisted.
"Okay," Itachi said, opening the passenger door for her.
She giggled, carefully getting inside and rubbing her hands together since it was freezing even inside the car. Itachi glanced at the back seat and pulled out the sweater, tugging it on.
It really was freezing.
Once he was in the driver seat he turned the car and the heater on.
Izumi sighed in appreciation.
With that he drove her back home, getting out and walking her to her door. It was late and he wanted to make sure she got in safely.
"Really truly thank you for today's date Itachi," She said as she opened her door and got half inside. She took off Itachi's hoodie and handed it over to him.
"No problem at all, I'll see you next time okay," Itachi said, and moved to leave.
Izumi wanted to call him back, to offer him to come in for a hot drink, but Itachi was already all the way to his car once more.
She sighed sadly, closing the door.
Next date would be better, because she would be planning it out. She already had an idea of what she wanted Itachi to try, and things she wanted to show him. She wanted him to be fully aware of all the things that she liked.
She was sure he'd like them too.
Itachi felt exhausted and drained when he got home, not so much physically but emotionally.
It felt like he just got done doing something he had not wanted to do. Now that he was home all he wanted to do was crawl into bed and forget about it.
Stripping off his clothes once in his room, he smiled when he saw his kitty curled up on his pillow. Pulling on some sweats and a loose shirt he crawled into bed, and towards said kitty. He gently picked him up, rolling him under the covers with him
"Why didn't you greet me kitty," he murmured into the soft fur. So warm and squishy, his lovely.
The kitten growled, crawling away from him.
Itachi blinked.
"Hey don't be mad, did I do something to make you mad?" Itachi asked, scratching behind an ear, gently poking at the growling kitty.
The kitty turned to hiss at him, swatting his hand away aggressively.
Itachi was not detoured, taking on the challenge. He kept petting and scratching through the fur, making the kitty soon melt into his hands, all liquid and soft fur.
"See, you can't stay mad at me," Itachi chuckled.
That was when the kitten meowed at him, all at different pitches almost as if he was trying to tell him why he was mad. Itachi didn't understand any of it, but one thing was for sure, just being here with his kitty in bed, snuggled together, was making him feel a hundred times much better than he had felt before.
"I missed you too kitty," he whispered.
His kitty remained pressed against him, silent. Itachi didn't move much either, his mind going blank as he let sleep flow into him.
Sasuke breathed Itachi in softly. Upset for the most part that Itachi had gone on that date—a date that didn't include him. Sasuke himself didn't understand his feelings. He was sure Itachi was not going to abandon him because of that woman.
He feared a bit, that Itachi wasn't fully his.
That he wasn't needed…
But he guessed so long as Itachi didn't leave him he would be fine. At that thought, Sasuke couldn't stop the selfish feeling growing inside of him. That much more that he wanted, claws digging into the demon's shirt as he clung on…
That Itachi was his, and his alone.
There was no room for a third person.
