As the Millennium Falcon discreetly flies over the surface of Bastion, the crew gathers in the cockpit.

Ben. We're setting down in that park. Let's hope the Force makes us look like a large hawk-bat or something.

The Falcon touches down, fortunately without any of the citizens of Bastion noticing them.

The Seven pause a moment to take in the city.

Luke. [aside] Bloah. We're actually here. I thought our trip to Hoth was pretty exotic. But now we're in in the heart of the old Galactic Empire, enemy territory for a Jedi. In a way, this place has shaped my life as much as Coruscant.

Jacen points.

Jacen. I think I know where we are. That's the tomb of the Tions.

Luke. [frowns] Tionne? Like the goddess?

Mara. No. They were a noble Imperial family, and . . . Bloah. This place is astral.

Jacen. [nods] I've studied maps of Bastion before. I've always wanted to come here, but . . .

Jacen's voice trails off.

Tahiri. Plans? Kyp has until sunset . . . at best. And this entire world is supposedly getting destroyed today.

Luke shakes himself out of his daze.

Luke. You're right. Mara . . . did you zero in on that spot from your Star Map?

Mara stares at Luke threateningly, warning him to keep his dream to himself.

Mara. Yes. It's on the Ravelin River. I think I can find it. But I should . . .

Luke. Take me along. Yeah, you're right.

Mara. [glares at him] That's not . . .

Luke. Safe. One Jedi walking through Bastion alone. I'll go with you as far as the Ravelin. We can use that letter of introduction, hopefully meet the river god Ravelin. Maybe he can give you some help or advice. Then you can go on alone from there.

Luke and Mara hold eye cotact for a moment, then Mara relents.

Mara. Fine. [to Tahiri] Tahiri. Now that we're on Bastion, do you think you can pinpoint Kyp's location?

Tahiri blinks.

Tahiri. Er, hopefully, if I get close enough. I'll have to walk around the city. Jag, would you come with me?

Jag. Absolutely.

Tahiri. And, er . . . Ben. It might be a good idea if you came along too. The Mon Cals said we'd need your help with something mechanical.

Ben. Yeah. No problem.

Jag's smile fades.

Danni draws her vibroblade.

Danni. Jacen and I can watch the ship for now. I'll see what my vibroblade can show me. But Tahiri, if you guys get a fix on Kyp's location, don't go in there by yourselves. Come back and get us. It will take all of us to fight the Vong.

No one opts to voice the fact that, without a Je'daii, fighting the Yuuzhan Vong will be fruitless.

Luke. Good idea. How about we plan to meet back here at . . . what?

Jacen. Fifteen hundred? That's probably the latest we could rendezvous and still hope to fight the Yuuzhan Vong and save Kyp. If something happens to change the plan, try to send a villip.

All nod in agreement, with a few glancing nervously at Mara, knowing she is on her own separate, likely more dangerous, quest.

Booster. That will give me time to eat the coconuts . . . I mean dig the coconuts out of our hull. Luke, Mara . . . I don't like you two going off on your own. Just remember: behave. If I hear about any funny business, I will ground you until the Maw freezes over.

Luke smiles.

Luke. We'll be back soon. May the Force be with us all.

Ben lowers the boarding ramp, and Luke and Mara are the first to disembark.

Exit all.
