The Winx Club's Sodor Adventures - Season 1
Episode 16: Trouble in the Shed
Sir Topham Hatt sat in his office, listening to the noise outside. The passengers were angry. The stationmaster came in.
"There's trouble in the shed, sir. Henry is sulking, there is no train, and the passengers are saying this is a bad railway."
"Indeed!" said Sir Topham Hatt. "We cannot allow that. I'll send in Flora and talk to Henry."
When he and Flora arrived, he found Gordon, James and Henry, looking very cross. "Come along, Henry, it's time your train was ready."
"Henry's not going," said Gordon. "We won't shunt like little tank engines. That was Thomas and Bloom's job. We are important tender engines. You fetch our coaches and we will pull them. Tender engines don't shunt."
Flora was cross. "That's the most ridiculous excuse I've ever heard."
Gordon snorted. "I'm sorry, Flora, but we refuse to go."
"We'll see about that," said Sir Topham Hatt. "No engine on my railway is too important for small jobs." And he hurried away to find Edward and Tecna. "The yard has never been the same since Thomas and Bloom left to run their branch line," he thought sadly.
Edward and Tecna were shunting.
"Leave those freight cars, please, Edward," said Sir Topham Hatt. "I want you and Tecna to push coaches for me in the yard."
"Good idea, sir," said Tecna, "we sure can use a break from shunting freight cars."
Edward agreed, "Thank you, sir, that will be a nice change."
"That's a good engine. Off you go then, you two."
So Edward and Tecna found coaches for the three engines, and that day, the trains ran as usual.
But next morning, when Sir Topham Hatt brought Musa to the yard, Edward looked unhappy. Gordon came clanking past, hissing rudely.
Musa jumped in surprise.
"Bless me!" said Sir Topham Hatt. "What a noise!"
"They all hiss me, sir," answered Edward. "They say tender engines don't shunt, and last night, they said I have gray wheels. I haven't, have I, sir?"
"No, Edward, you have nice blue ones, and I'm proud of you. Tender engines do shunt, but all the same we do need another tank engine here. And Musa needs a partner to work with."
Then Sir Topham Hatt turned to Musa. "Musa, I have a special task for you."
"Really?" asked Musa. "What is it?"
Sir Topham Hatt explained, "I'm heading off to the mainland not far from Vicarstown. There's a engine works at the closest town near the border. Would you like to come with me and help pick out a new engine for us?"
Musa was delighted. "Of course I'll come."
So they went to a workshop, and they showed them all sorts of engines. At last, they saw a smart little green engine with four wheels.
"Will this one do, sir?" asked Musa.
"That's the one," Sir Topham Hatt thought. "If I choose you, will you work hard?"
"Oh, sir! Yes, sir!"
"That's a good engine. I'll call you Percy."
"Yes, sir! Thank you, sir!" said Percy.
And Sir Topham Hatt and Musa brought Percy back to the yard. "Edward, Tecna," he called. "here's Percy. Edward, will you show him everything? And Tecna, since I assigned Musa to be Percy's new driver, will you teach her everything?"
"Of course, sir," said Tecna, "I would consider it an honor to help my best friend."
Musa was even more delighted to be Percy's driver, so she agreed.
Percy and Musa soon learned what they had to do, and they had a happy afternoon.
Then Henry came by, hissing as usual.
"Wheesh!" went Percy. Henry jumped and ran back to the shed. Musa and Tecna laughed.
"How beautifully you wheeshed him!" laughed Edward. "I can't wheesh like that."
"Oh!" said Percy. "That's nothing. You should hear them in the workshop. You have to wheesh loudly to make yourself heard."
Next morning, Thomas and Bloom arrived.
"Sir Topham Hatt sent for us, I expect he wants help," Thomas said to Edward.
"Yeah, I wonder what's going on?" asked Bloom. "And who is this new engine?"
Tecna explained, "Well, you two missed his arrival on the island yesterday. This is our new friend, Percy."
Thomas smiled, "Nice to meet you, Percy. I'm Thomas, and this is my fairy friend, Bloom."
"It's a great pleasure to meet you, Bloom," said Percy.
"Same here, Percy," Bloom greeted back. "Who's driving you when you've came here?"
"I am," answered Musa, "Tecna taught me everything I needed to know. And it was fun."
"Shh, shh. Here he comes," replied Edward when he saw Sir Topham Hatt arrive.
"Well done, Thomas, you and Bloom have been quick. Now listen, Henry, Gordon and James are sulking. They say they won't shunt like little tank engines. So I have shut them up, and I want you two along with Edward and Tecna to run the main line for a while."
"Little tank engines, indeed!" snorted Thomas. "We'll show them."
"And Percy and Musa will help, too."
"Oh, sir! Yes, sir! Please, sir!" answered Percy.
Edward, Tecna, Thomas and Bloom worked the main line, greeting each other as they passed by.
Percy and Musa puffed along the branch line. Thomas was anxious about Annie and Clarabel, but both Musa and the conductor promised to take care of them.
There were fewer trains, but the passengers didn't mind. They knew the three other engines were having a lesson.
Gordon, James and Henry were cold, lonely and miserable. They wished now they hadn't been so silly.
