AmyNChan: I wrote the following chapters after 6 years' worth of absence, and it's thanks to MariKuro, who found this after such a long time and figured it was worth a shot to leave a review asking for more. They caught me during a time when I was desperate to write something and didn't know what, so it was very fortunate timing, I think.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy these!

Being a thief means going undercover sometimes. It means losing contact with friends for a time.

I didn't know that it was going to be the last time. I wasn't really close with Sven, not really, but I'd like to think I'm close with Eve. Right now, all I can do for the dead is what I can for the people left behind. I had to pay a pretty penny for it, but I'm finally in town. Now I just need to find—

"Rins!"

I know that voice. I look.

"Train!" Wait… I narrow my eyes. "Where's Eve? Did you leave her in the room by herself? Of all the idiotic—!"

"No, Rins." He doesn't even stop! He's got his hand on my arm and now I'm keeping pace with him. If I weren't so concerned about Eve and him (I mean, he did just lose his friend), I'd stop to teach him some manners.

Whatever. I guess I'm running now. At least Train has the decency to catch me up to speed in more ways than one.

"The Princess holed herself up in Sven's room ever since we got back. I figured she was going through the process—grieving and all."

"Okay, makes sense." I push harder to keep up. "And now we're running because?"

"She left." Oh. "She's probably going after Sven's killer. I have a name and a face, but that's it. I've been trying to keep up with rumors of flying little girls, but they're a bit sparse right now."

I snatch the picture as soon as its in his hand, ignoring his quip. He has the worst timing for jokes and, given his deadpan delivery, he wasn't really looking for a laugh anyways. I don't need more than a glance.

"North warehouse, by the docks. He's waiting for the shipment I just stole, so he'll be there a few days." I flick the photo back at him. He catches it. "Not like you to be lucky. First you run into me, then I have the information you need."

"I'm not questioning my luck right now." Oh? "I just need to catch up to the Princess and make sure she doesn't kill for him. Sven never wanted that for her. Never."

It's not often that I see Train look so serious. I'm sure Eve's seen that face even less. And given what he said about her staying in Sven's room, I doubt she's seen it when she needs it…

These idiots.

"Well, when you catch up to her, remind her of that." Train only spares a glance at me, but the clear surprise is enough to annoy me. I grit my teeth. "If I know you, you haven't actually told her that Sven was going to adopt her, and you didn't tell her what he did to keep her free. If anything, until she's able to face her grief, that might keep her from doing anything she'll regret and betraying Sven's memory. You're not anywhere close to a father figure to her, but she still needs you right now, Train, and you're only wasting time by letting me keep up."

I'm starting to lose steam, so all I can do is huff as he runs on. When he hesitates, I snap.

"Go!" I shout.

He's gone in a flash, and I stop, hacking up a lung as I try to catch my breath. Train barely slowed down for me at all, but that's not what I'm worried about.

I just want him to reach her in time. For her own sake.
