Old Philip, Savannah, and Jordan were with Edgar in the gate control room. Two operators were running tests at the control panel.

Savannah and Jordan were worried and sad although they understood Philip's decision.

The one-eyed man thanked the base commander, "Thank you for letting me go with Alpha, Mister Matthews."

Edgar bent his head.

Philip turned to Savannah and Jordan, and said, "I should get prepared."

"Wait." Savannah told her fellow before he could move to leave the room.

She tightly hugged the man who had been her friend, her leader, and her second father since the catastrophe.

Rossberg hugged Jackson, too. He was leaving the young girl who had lost everything in a terrible way and who had become a strong woman year after year despite the tragedies.

McKay joined the collective embrace. Philip had been his friend, his leader, and his second father since the catastrophe, too.

Philip cared about Savannah and Jordan so much. He hated leaving them behind, but he had to accompany Alpha. It was his responsibility, as a leader, not to stay away from the battlefield whereas he was the one who showed Alpha the way to it.

Edgar saw the trio shedding tears. He heard Philip reassure, "Don't worry, it's gonna be alright."

This goodbye moved Matthews and he strongly hoped that the people from current timeline wouldn't go through what the trio had been through.
