Rossberg, Sakai, Rousseau, and Carter exited the room they had examined.
Rousseau commented, "Another dead end. Captain, shouldn't we get out of here?"
"Was gonna suggest the same. Akira, let's go back to our ship."
Akira nodded and led the group with his tablet, followed by Philip, Bernard, and Maryanne in this order.
In a hallway, the group met a man dressed in a leather outfit. The man was holding a Jaffa staff weapon, but he seemed to not be a Jaffa, based on his clothing and the absence of any mark on the forehead. Alpha tried to stay calm and continue the walk back to their ship. The man stared at them. Carter had a bad feeling when the guy looked at her. She instinctively and calmly put her right hand above the coner at her thigh before the man walked past her on her left side. She slightly moved her head to the left as if she wanted to follow the guy's whereabouts. Rousseau had the same reaction.
Their instincts proved to be correct.
"Don't move!" the man yelled at the team, a few meters behind them, when he realized that he had just walked past Black Stone Alpha.
Rousseau and Carter turned around. The situation quickly got worse for the lady. The man shot her with his staff weapon already in position to fire when he yelled. The shot hit Maryanne at the waist. The chest rig diminished the shock wave, but not enough to stop the blast from piercing her body and making her fall backwards. Carter felt as if fire was burning her skin and organs. The shock paralyzed her, she couldn't scream, breathe, move, and realize she had been shot for a minute.
Rousseau fired back at the attacker, as well as Rossberg and Sakai. The foe ran to the door of a room, opened it, and protected his body in the space where the door had been a few seconds earlier. Rousseau tried to grab Carter. The enemy fired at him, but missed his target. Sakai retaliated while the premier maƮtre was grasping the captain's right shoulder with his left hand, his right using the coner. Rousseau dragged Carter in the hallway, her blood splattering the floor, to the intersection with another corridor, covered by Rossberg and Sakai. The other man was yelling "You won't go anywhere, surrender!"
At the intersection, there was only one option: turn to the right.
Unfortunately, a group of people dressed in different outfits and armed with alien guns, Jaffa and other types of staff weapons had just appeared in the corridor, after a quick race as they looked breathless and bewildered. One of the members of the incoming group was operating a small communication device.
The group had heard the sound of the firing between Alpha and the man with the leather clothing.
The group saw Alpha team.
The group saw a bleeding and dizzy Carter on the floor, held by a gasping Rousseau.
All of sudden, a siren went off.
