Chapter 12

Kai and Alfida sat together in the dining room looking at a newspaper, which they had gotten from the village. They were looking for a possibility to get a part-time job, where they could make money or any other option, that could help them out.

„What does bachelor's degree mean?" Asked Kai pointing at a job ad, which was about creating designs.

„I don't know," Responded Alfida. „I guess it's something we don't have,"
„We've got nothing. I have only been in the orphanage and attended there the lessons. So did Gerda until we ran off,"

„At least you got something. I grew up my entire life with pirates and I only learned to read, because of my mom and since I would become the next captain in our team….or an own captain with her own crew," Stated Alfida moving to the next page. Alfida furrowed her eyebrows reading the next advertisements. „Hey do they all have a monthly income?"

„I don't know," Responded Kai moving the sheet back to look for what his romantic interest meant. „I think they are,"

„Well if we get one of these jobs, we'll have to wait…..work a month, until we get it,"

„So long?" Asked Kai. „I always thought waiting a week was long, but this is insane!"

Hendrick appeared in the kitchen followed by his dog, which was wagging his tail hastily as the man carried a can with dog food, then filled it inside a bowl, so the dog would take his meal.

„Found something, kiddos?" Asked Hendrick making Alfida shake her head.

„No sir, but do you know what Bachelor's degree means?" Asked Kai pointing at the job ads with the word.

„Oh that means after your finish elementary school, middle school, and high school, you enter university and in a few years, when you pass the exam you receive the Bachelor's degree. There are various sorts so far I know Even for art,"

„Why do we have to go to school for art?" Asked Kai after hearing the answer. „Art is art!"

„And music is music and even that is on the list," Commented the senior. „The best thing you could do is return to school or do little jobs for little money like…..erm ask your neighbor to mow the grass?"

„Why mown the grass?" Asked Kai.

„You know some people don't have time or don't like to do that kind of jobs and ask people to do that in return for money,"

„Is there only that kind of job?" Asked Alfida making the senior shake his head.

„No, but if you want, I've got this one idea. Why don't you pass by everybody's house and offer them your hand to do a certain job? Ask them you can do anything. Helping them doing the laundry, walk their dog, cleaning, whatever they're got. Explain to them you would love to save up enough money to visit your sister and they may suggest you a simple price. If you manage to get at least 15 Kroner per villager in a week you may get real fast to your goal,"

„Sounds good," Kai responded.

„For a lifetime it isn't the best thing you can do, but if you two want to go to your sister it's fine, She has received help there from people. Maybe if she shows you two to the ones, that helped her they will help you out as well,"

„It's almost 7 am, do you think it's possible if we go out now to look for one of those options Henry suggested?" Kai asked the girl, which nodded.

„We can give it a try and if it doesn't work we try with other people or go tomorrow," Added the raven-haired girl making Kai smile.

„Cool, let's get out" Ordered the boy passing by Orm, which sat on the couch looking at the screen together with Luta, then Kai glanced at the screen to see two persons in the water and one of the person helping the woman up at the empty wood board.

„What is this?" Asked Kai watching the woman cry, because the man, that stood inside the water was telling goodbye to the woman.

„That guy randomly plumped into her life and made everything better and now he will sacrifice his life for her," Explained Orm picking up Luta, which shrieked and felt Orm sneeze his nose onto her fur, making her angry and bite his nose. „Ouch!"

„Is this some sort of Romance?" Asked Alfida gazing at the scene, then rolled her eyes and grabbed Kai on his shoulder, so they would move on. „That board has plenty of space for the two of them if they would try to squeeze themselves on it," Stated Alfida with Kai in tow, which moved in front of the girl and opened the door of the house to leave it.

Rollan was in Mr. Hemming's office inside the apartment ironing clothes he had washed about two hours ago. Rollan had managed to slowly get the hang of it by ironing a pair of pants that belonged to Arthur. On the sofa bed sat Arthur's sons, which were identical twins playing together a board game as the TV was airing a cartoon show, both didn't seem to care about.

„How come some pants be harder to iron than others?" Rollan questioned himself, then adjusted the leg of the textile on the board and stroke it with his hand. Under the iron sat Coal, the spirit of his miraculous watching Rollan getting annoyed with not being good at ironing the clothing. Coal chuckled, then Rollan heard the creature laugh and looked down at the creature and rolled his eyes from him at the twins. Coal nodded and jumped down on the ground to hide behind the distilled water.

„Rollan, when will you be done with your work and play with us?" Asked one of the boys, that wore a blue shirt and black shorts.

„I still got plenty of things to finish," Responded Rollan. „Probably 30-40 more minutes,"

„When dad used to do the ironing he was done in an hour sometimes," Stated the second boy, which wore the same clothing, but his shirt had a different logo on the front.

„Your dad has done it a lot of times. I never have done it. At least this way," Rollan explained turning the pants to the other side, then observed them in between the legs to see if he had left any wrinkle in there and folded it together.

Arthur Hemming appeared by the door to take a look at the three boys, then walked at Rollan to see him working.

„How is it going, champ?" Asked the blonde man making Rollan nod.

„The way is actually simple. Just I have to practice more on it," Responded Rollan. „Some pants seem to be done differently, I've noticed on the last one," Rollan said pointing at one pant he left on the desk of the man, making the adult chuckle.

„I understand, that's all new to you. When I began to iron my clothing I wasn't as good at it either. It's just a matter of time and practice until you get used to it.

„But I think I've been doing good?" Asked Rollan watching Arthur look at the small pile he had already done.

„They look good so far. The most important thing for you to know is that the quality is good in the end. You'll gain the speed the more you do that,"

„I'll do my best sir, thanks,"

„Call me Arthur. Not sir," Commented the blonde placing his hand on Rollan's shoulder. „It's great, that you're being very polite and educated,"

„Papa," Spoke one of the boy's getting up, then spoke at the adult in their mother language.

„Let Rollan finish his work first, Jett. After he's done you three can play together," Arthur responded. „If you want you can still talk with him while he's ironing. If he's okay with it,"

„I am," Declared the Spaniard making Arthur smile and pat Jett's head.

„Uh Jett, you or Jake if I were you would change shirt. You know Rollan isn't aware of who is who like your mom and I do,"
„Okay," Said Jett, then Arthur left the room and Jett sat down on the bed to continue the match.

„I think I've got one shirt in the pile," Mentioned Rollan watching Jake get up to look in it.

„Is my Under Us shirt here?" Asked Jake making Rollan shrug his shoulders.

„Not that I know," Responded Rollan watching the boy head back to the other basket to look for his shirt and found a black shirt with a red character on it, which looked like an astronaut. „Ah that one,"

„Jake look, the superheroes are on TV again!" Called Jett, then Jake ran at the bed to see an amateur video showing the giant Autobot and see Fire King get catapulted into the Autobot with the help of Lady Frost, minutes later the Autobot disappeared and Cat Noir appeared on the ground along with Fire King and the citizen, that was akumatized. Rollan looked at the screen to see the scene, then Jett picked up the remote controller to put it louder.

„Apace appeared the third time under the influence of Hawk Moth, or now Shadow Moth. This time Ladybug and Cat Noir didn't only bring Rena Rouge to this fight. Also, there were two new superheroes called Lady Frost and Fire King. So far the only close-up images we could get from them are these ones from lieutenant Roger Raincomprix's bodycam, which had been a victim by the Autobot," A blonde journalist said, then beside her two images were blended in showing Lady Frost creating ice and Fire King stood in his image with his hair on fire.

„Not quite good images," Rollan commented making Jake chuckle.

„If they're going to work more often with Ladybug and Cat Noir they will have lots of them too," Stated Jake making his brother nod.

„Have you got a favorite hero yet?" Asked Jett looking at Rollan with his younger brother.

„I don't really have one, to be honest," Responded Rollan looking at the two new superheroes. „I think I like the two new heroes,"

„And which of the two do you like more?" Asked Jake making Rollan shrug his shoulder looking at his own alter ego and the image of Lady Frost.

„To be honest I think my favorite hero there is Lady Frost," Responded Rollan. „I find that she looks pretty cool when I saw her,"

„I find Cat Noir cooler," Commented Jett.

„And I find Ladybug cool," Added Jake making Rollan nod.

„Wow each of us has a different opinion," Mentioned Rollan making the boys chuckle. Rollan picked up the next pants to iron, then he noticed his smartphone on the table of Arthur vibrate as it received a message. Rollan took it up to see it was from Gerda and opened it.

„Hey Rollan, how are you? Have you seen the superheroes on TV? The ones that were at our school?"

Rollan typed down a message to send to his friend. „Hola Gerda. Yes, I saw them. They were fantastic, my favorites were Fire King and Lady Frost," Replied Rollan and placed his smartphone on the iron board, then began to iron the upper part of the pants, then heard another message come from Gerda and Rollan pressed on the home button.

„I liked them too! What do you think mostly of Lady Frost? Isn't she cool?"

Rollan chuckled and typed down his opinion and sent it to Gerda, then returned to his task.

Gerda is sitting on her bed with the smartphone, then smiled as she read a message she received from Rollan and showed it to the spirit Snowflake, which had been floating over her shoulder.

„Look what Rollan wrote…...I didn't see Lady Frost from close up, but from the time I could see her at the school trying to help the other superheroes I found her to be incredible. And not only that, but she also looked really pretty. If maybe we could have seen her closer, we would have seen her best side,"

„That's sweet," Commented Snowflake earning a nod from Gerda, which commented back with a thumb up.

„You've seen the Fire King and I are the only ones, that are new in the group, right?" Asked Gerda making the spirit nod. „You know this is odd, but he seems very familiar to me. Like I have already been with him before,"

„You know, Fire King's spirit guide and I know each other for so long. Our previous masters we have been with the past centuries and usually felt that way too. During the time I'm with you and Coal with Fire King we get to feel or remember things from a long time ago,"

„You mean, because you and Coal know each other, this is why I'm feeling that I know him?"

„Yes, maybe you do know him because of a certain behavior of his personality. It must remind you of someone,"

„Probably," Commented Gerda, then Snowflake heard footsteps and disappeared behind the pillows of the girl and Gerda spotted at the entrance of the bedroom Fabienne come to look into the room.

„Hey Gerda, are you done with your homework?" Asked Fabienne making the blonde nod.

„Yes I am,"

„Is it okay for you, if you would help Jorge and Claudine in history?" Asked Fabienne. "You're better in that than me and Carmen,"

„Yes I will come along," Gerda responded getting up, dropping the smartphone on her bed. „Are they in their bedroom?"

„They're in the bedroom of Carmen," Pointed Fabienne out making the blonde nod, which walked out of the bedroom to follow her roommate.

Marinette and Alya stood together in the room of Marinette looking together at a notebook they have recently started on taking notes. In the middle, they had Hawk Moth's name on it and around it, she had the whole two pages arranged as a mindmap with reasons, Hawk Moth could be Gabriel.

„Okay we've got the fact, that he's barely home, mostly after Mrs. Agreste disappeared, he missed many important meetings at the school or during class where Adrien needed some parental figure to be there, when he appears Nathalie is there in his place holding him with a video call and then there were this few times Gabriel allowed Lila into his house, because she's a good influence on him, despite her dishonest nature, while Nino or anyone else from our class would get classified as a bad influence to him,"

„Despite him knowing anyone, yet he forces Adrien to befriend Lila and as you've seen in his past, Chloé,"
„Well I don't think Gabriel really forces him into doing so, this is just…...some weird things rich dads do. I know this from American movies as well,"

„Maybe the reason Gabriel wanted Adrien to befriend Lila was the fact her mom is from the diplomatic corps," Alya commented making Marinette shrug her shoulders. „You know they're rich as well and the best part, they're under immunity,"

„What will the immunity bring Gabriel?" Asked Marinette making Alya shake her head.

„I don't think he's looking for that…..wait a second…..remember the day we all almost got akumatized, because Lila found a way to blame you for something you didn't?"

„Hmm…..you're talking about that day she somehow managed to get her necklace into my locker?" Questioned the blue-haired girl making the friend nod. „Are you thinking Gabriel is using Lila to obtain as a way to get people akumatized?"

„I don't know if that makes any sense. Haven't you told once Lila was capable to lie to Cat Noir about having broken her leg so that Ladybug would be alone and may lose easier?"

„Yeah I did," Responded Marinette. „You know, I think Lila wants to get rid of me…..I mean Ladybug, because I ruined her chances with Adrien as I figured out she was lying to him about me,"

„How did you find out, she was lying?"

„Remember I followed her into the library with Adrien?"

„Yes…..oh you…..heard them talk, right?"

„Exactly, then I followed her to the park, where she would met Adrien and talk to him about, she began to babble about being related with superheroes, her grandma giving her the fox miraculous and at some point I as Ladybug interrupted their talk and…...you don't really want to know it,"

„You've scolded her?"

„I've…...mentioned those words she said in a sarcastic way, causing her to cry right there in front of Adrien. It was wrong, but at the same time I felt like it was the right thing to do,"

„Then she got akumatized, right?"

„Yeah" Responded Marinette.

„You know….you could have spared Lila this pain and somehow tell it Adrien in private, as Ladybug. He would at least know it and be careful around her,"

„Maybe she wouldn't have a high hatred for me. I don't even understand how someone can hate Ladybug so much as she does,"

„Well, I assume it has something to do with you being a superheroine, and superheroines are usually seen as perfect….Or at least as a good idol to look up to,"

„You've got a point," Commented Marinette, then heard a whistling noise from her computer seeing a post, that was shared by Marc Anciel showing a close-up picture from Fire King and Lady Frost from their first mission. Alya chuckled at seeing the images of the two superheroes, then clicked with the mouse on the picture to open it.

„It's funny, both have got like Cat Noir and you a yin-yang," Noticed Alya. „She's got ice and he's got fire. He's hot and she's cold,"

„She's creation and he's desctruction,"

„Exactly!" Agreed Alya. „You know what I thought after meeting the two?"

„What?"

„Both would make a crime fighting couple…..well akuma fighting couple,"

„Why do you assume both are apparently meant to be in your eyes, just because both wear the opposites?"

„I never said that. I just said both would make a cute pair,"

„Yes they would, but I don't think this is going to happen between the two,"

„Let me guess…..they're too different,"

„I didn't say nor think that either…...okay, I thought a little, but not fully,"

„You're weird,"

„So are you,"

„You're weirder,"

„You're weirder. You assumed, that Adrien's clothing and mines are the opposite which makes no sense,"

„Wait a second…..," Ordered Alya taking out her smartphone to enter into the chat of her and Marinette, then opened an image where their class were walking together. Alya saved the image, then re-cut the image, so she would only have themselves on it with Nino and Adrien, then Alya added to it the negative filter to show the inverted colors of their hair and clothing, making Marinette drop her mouth.

„How is my hair now blonde and he's…..my color….The jackets…..shirt….?" Marinette commented surprised at Alya's revelation making Alya laugh.

„Your reaction was priceless, Marinette" Commented Alya, then took a picture of the image on the computer screen to repeat the same task with the newbie's images. „There you go. Fire King is fully blue and Lady Frost is red,"

„Why are we assuming our love interests by an app?"

„No, I'm not. I just wanted to show you that it looks hilarious,"

„Okay, I have seen it. You're right about it, it is hilarious. Could we continue on this or no, what about we go down to the bakery and get us some fresh macarons or anything else before we continue working together on this?"

„Sounds like a good thing," Commented Alya making Marinette smile, then placed her arm behind the short girl's back and accompanied her to the door, that led downstairs.

„This is probably odd, but Lady Frost kind of resembles Gerda a little,"

„Ha ha ha, so funny. The next thing you will say is that Adrien and Cat Noir are the same persons," Commented Marinette ironic, making Alya snort.
