Chapter 25
At night Rollan was taking out from the dishwasher the dishes, that had been washed in it. Rollan's last task from the dishwasher was now to take out the basket with the cutlery, then he shrieked as he got tweaked by the metal basket and slowly reached his hand to pull it from above, the placed it on the counter. He sorted it out into the drawer, then as he was done he left the kitchen to encounter Georgette in the corridor leading the twins into their bedroom.
"I'm done with the dishes. If you're okay with it, I'm going to bed," Mentioned Rollan making the woman nod.
"Sure, wish you a good night," Commented Georgette, then Jake grabbed his mother by the hand.
"Is it okay, if Rollan reads us tonight the bedtime story?" Questioned Jake, making Georgette shrug her shoulders.
"You'd need to ask him. He was going to bed right now," Answered the mother watching Rollan come to the young boy.
"It's okay, I've got time for it," Announced Rollan making the woman smile, which placed her hand on the teen's shoulder.
"You're a really great guy, Rollan," Commented Georgette making Rollan smile a little, then he followed Jake into the bedroom, where Jett already sat in his bed putting on his socks.
"So guys, are you interested into the same book or have you started a new one?" Asked Rollan sitting down next to Jett, which smiled and grabbed Rollan on his arm. Jake picked up the book, Rollan had read them the other day and placed it on the Spaniard's hands.
"Mom has the clip in a new chapter," Mentioned Jake making Rollan nod and open the page on a new chapter.
"Okay, get ready. I'm about to start," Warned Rollan seeing the boys cover themselves, then looked up at Rollan waiting for him to start reading. "Farmer Han, the Husky Din and Princess Lana walked together throught the forest together making their way back to the kingdom, the men had started the day.
"Are you really okay with marrying some man you will just met after the trip?" Questioned Din. "Don't you think, that's a little odd?"
"I don't know, what I should answer you, Din. This is how it seems to work in the human world. At least for the ones coming up from kingdoms," Answered Princess Lana.
"I used to hear a lot from kingdoms doing that. I uh used to have a farm near one kingdom and I heard from there Princes getting ready to be introduced to Princesses in other kingdoms," Commented Farmer Han.
"Which one kingdom had you been close to, if I may ask?" Questioned the princess.
"Which kingdom?" Asked the farmer a little nervous.
"Yes,"
"The northern coast of…. Denmark," Responded Farmer Han.
"I'm not familiar with that one, but if I find a map of the scandinavian peninsula I can check it out,"
"I remember the royals were a good influence towards their offspirings to what I heard. I barely saw the them around, so I don't have much to tell you about,"
"I'm sure they sound like a quite polite kingdom. My father told me, when I was younger, that he would make sure he would convince the most prestigious kingdoms to come along here to help me out of the tower….except whatever kingdom you came from you got sent,"
"Okay I wasn't aware of that and I believe Lord Smallpants wasn't aware of it either. For now on he has made an okay impression to me,"
"That sounds good then," Commented Lana.
"When the blind man talked about him, the lord didn't sound to me like a good person," Commented the dog, making Lana tilt her head.
"What blind person?" Asked Lana curious, then Han shrugged his shoulder and stepped on Din's tail.
"Hey watch out, you've hurt my tail," Warned the husky, making the farmer frown and the dog returned to Lana. "Lord Smallpants banned people that needed help from his kingdom into his lands and they were there at the farm seeking for shelter,"
"Oh no," Commented Lana sad. "That's terrible,"
"I'm not a bad guy. It's just my entire year's work got unwillingly destroyed by them. I understood, that it was an accident. I just want them to find a better place and I even told the Lord he should perhaps make a place, they could live," Han explained to the princess.
"And where are they now?"
"For now on they're at the farm all on their own. Most of them are independent, others less. Until I return I will see, what lord planned to do with them,"
"Well if necessary I'll help you out as well. As the future Queen, I will be able to rule over the kingdom as well. I could convince him to help them. We've got more power after all," Commented Princess Lana making Han nod.
"Now that would be a brilliant idea," Agreed the farmer.
"The princess is right," Commented the dog.
Rollan took a break to see the boys had fallen asleep, then he smiled and placed the book down on the night table.
Rollan got up, then saw from the window Cat Noir pass by while using his staff, making Rollan smile glad.
"Something must be going on right now," Whispered Rollan, then he sneaked out of the bedroom and head into the living room to see Cat Noir on the roofs looking around the place.
"Coal?" Called Rollan looking around, then spotted the coal spirit run at Rollan's direction and he got down on his knees to let the spirit get on his hands. "What do you think? What awaits us today?"
"I don't know. I thought you called me for something else. I was enjoying being there lying at the fire spot,"
"We'll be back soon, I promise. Cat Noir must know what's up now for him to be around already," Stated Rollan making Coal nod.
"Them let's get out of here," Warned Coal making Rollan smile.
"Coal, I'm fired up!" Shouted Rollan transforming into Fire King, then he got out at the balcony and looked for a way to climb up on the roof of the house.
A couple of minutes later Cat Noir sat on the edge of a building looking at the cathedral, which was under renovation works. Fire King appeared on the edge of the roof, then fell down on his back a little tired from the climbing.
"At least it had a ladder," Commented Fire King earning Cat Noir's attention, which stared at the redhead perplexed.
"What are you doing here?" Asked Cat Noir getting up to make his way up to the redhead, who just got up.
"I saw you before and thought something was up," Responded Fire King and sat on the edge of the roof, followed by Cat Noir.
"If you're thinking because of akumas, nothing is up yet," Mentioned the blonde. "I'm here because I thought about taking a little stroll and check the surroundings,"
"Okay, and it's only you?" Questioned Fire King.
"Ladybug usually would come along, but since she's now the guardian, she only out when necessary,"
"And what does she do as a guardian?" Questioned Fire King making Cat Noir shrug his shoulders.
"I don't know much about it. She hands out miraculouses to certain civilians to help us fight akuma villains, guards them and since our former master lost his memories she has to figure out a lot of things out on her own. Luckily she knows now how to create those little charms she gifts other citizens to protect them from akumas,"
"Okay, and do we get one too?" Questioned Fire King making Cat Noir shrug his shoulders.
"I don't think we need one. She hasn't got one either, nor the other superheroes so far I know," We're sort of immune towards akumas or it's up to our feelings. I'm used to negativity in real life, so if someone lies to me or anything I won't really react as I somehow got used to people's negative behavior towards me or generally,"
"Have you been always sad in your life?" Asked the Spaniard curious.
"Yes, but I'm so used to it. I shouldn't talk to other heroes about things from civilian lives,"
"Oh alright, I'm sorry," Apologized Fire King, then Cat Noir placed his hand on the hero's shoulder.
"Don't sweat it, you're new. You'll get used to it,"
"Sure I will," Commented Fire King. "Uh wait…..what if I wanted to ask Lady Frost for example anything….I couldn't ask her certain things, because of our identities having to remain a secret?" Asked Fire King making Cat Noir chuckle.
"Yes. And as I see, you seem to have a certain fe-line for this girl, am I right?" Asked the black-dressed superhero making Fire King shrug his shoulders.
"To be honest, I kind of see her in a different light now," Mentioned Fire King. "We trained together the other day and from hearing music coming from a group of guys I thought about making her laugh by dancing, then we danced together and in the end I had her in my arms looking deep into my eyes as if she was getting lost in there,"
"Oh looks like you're screwed, just like me, when it comes to love,"
"You're in love too?" Asked Fire King surprised making Cat Noir nod.
"Well you're not long here, you couldn't know it, but I'm also interested in someone and that's Ladybug. She actually knows it as well, the entire city knows, but you know…..this with the secret identity stuff and what she has going on in her civilian life, she doesn't let anyone get closer to her heart…..well me. All because superhero identities are the most precious thing we've got from us and that should no one else know beside ourself. If someone like Hawk Moth knows about our real identity, we're in danger,"
"Yeah, that makes sense, but….we're all superheroes, why can't we know each other's identity?" Questioned Fire King. "We all work together? Isn't it kinda weird?"
"It has it's pros and cons. You can ask Ladybug anything about us all revealing each other's identities and she will always reject the idea out of safety reasons. Hawk Moth found out the identity of half of the superheroes and it's already dangerous enough for us as civilians,"
"And….I haven't actually anything to do with Hawk Moth. I don't think he knows anything about me,"
"You and Lady Frost are new. Ladybug has given you the miraculouses, right?" Questioned Cat Noir making Fire King shrug his shoulders.
"I don't know, to be honest. She was around when I found it. I'm not sure if she planned to let me not know it or not,"
"Hmm okay, but you're doing a good job, even if you weren't meant to be. You're brave, you've done your best so far and you look trustworthy to me. It couldn't be better, than that,"
"I feel like my powers are there mostly to destroy things," Mentioned Fire King. "I'm like the opposite of Lady Frost. She at least can create anything, that helps her out,"
"The same is with me and Ladybug, I'm her yang and you're Lady Frost's yang. The reason we were good at the beginning was that we always worked together and we're supposed to when we want to succeed. You and Lady Frost are the same, you're the elemental version of us,"
"Yeah, actually I've noticed the other day when you and Ladybug were somewhere else fighting an akuma together with Lady Frost we could cool down together a wound she had on her arm. And we took less time to defeat Blaster, cause we aimed at the same time our power against him,"
"See? You two already seem to get along well with each other. The best thing is to always work together and for further training, you two could focus on that,"
"When I see her again I talk with her to see, what she thinks about," Commented the redhead making Cat Noir nod.
"Put your head up boy, it's just a matter of time until our chances are better," The blonde assured the friend. "Just…."
"Be yourself," Added Fire King making Cat Noir chuckle.
"I wanted to say patient, but that's fine too," Corrected Cat Noir making Fire King chuckle.
"You're cool, Cat Noir. Not only by the looks, but also as a person," Complimented the redhead making the blonde smile.
"Why thank you. It's glad to know that…..." Explained Cat Noir, then shut up his eyes as he saw the supervillain Reverser come from above on his paperplane against Cat Noir, which jumped up aside on the roof preparing his staff and he observed Fire King continue to sit on his place.
"King, be careful he can make your powers useless," Warned Cat Noir watching Fire King make fire with his hands to grab the plane of the supervillain, then Reverser flew out of the plane heading to the road to land there on his front. "Wow, that was….."Commented Cat Noir watching Fire King burn down the paper plane to reveal the akuma, which surprised Fire King as well.
"I caught him," Commented Fire King making Cat Noir smile and give him a thumb up.
"I just gotta call Ladybug," Commented Cat Noir, then looked down at Reverser, which had raised up his fist to threat them. "Look at him, so powerless now,"
"This is what you get from sneaking up behind me," Joked Fire King, then he recognized Ladybug's yo-yo, then looked behind to see her arrive.
"Where did Reverser go?" Asked Ladybug, then Fire King pointed at the akuma and Ladybug immediately retrieved it.
"Mi'lady, you had to see Fire King. He immediately reacted and burned down Reverser's paper plane," Mentioned Cat Noir impressed and watched the bug-themed heroine purify the akuma, before listening to the superhero.
"None of you, didn't fight?" Asked Ladybug curious making Cat Noir nod.
"I just got up to prepare myself and he just opened his fire to grab the plane," Cat Noir recounted. "He did a fine job"
"That's good then. Congratulations," Said Ladybug placing her hand on Fire King's shoulder, then she looked down to see Reverser turn back into the student Marc Anciel and Lady Frost just showed up sliding over the ice path she created.
"Wanna go down?" Asked Ladybug, then Fire King nodded and looked at Cat Noir, which extended his staff, then offered Fire King to slide on it down.
Lady Frost approached the boy, then noticed Fire King appear and walk towards her.
"You're okay?" Asked the redhead making the blonde nod.
"Yeah, did you guys already defeat him?" Questioned Lady Frost making him nod.
"Funnily I was the one taking him down immediately. It was funny though," Answered Fire King, then Marc got up to look at the two superheroes.
"Did I cause any chaos again?" Asked Marc glancing dissapointed at the two superheroes.
"Everything is fine," Commented Lady Frost placing her hands on the boy's shoulder. "My friend Fire King stopped you immediately without any problem,"
"You're okay, little guy?" Asked the Fire King watching Marc shrug his shoulders.
"I got a little irritated with my father," Mentioned Marc. "He made fun of me for having fun writing stories,"
"Really?" Asked Lady Frost sad, along with Fire King.
"I don't find anything bad about it. Many men in the past wrote books. Many are even famous for it. What's so bad for your father about it?" Questioned Fire King making Marc shrug his shoulders.
"Writers and Painters are really creative people. I don't understand what's so bad about this to some people," Complained the blonde heroine making Fire King nod.
"They don't have any humor," Commented Fire King making Marc snort.
"That's what some of my friends say," Added Marc making Fire King smile.
"If I'm allowed to ask, what sort of stories do you write?" Questioned Fire King, then looked at Lady Frost which smiled at Fire King's idea.
"Yeah I'd like to know it too. I like reading books,"
"Me too. My favorite genre is adventure and the ones with heroes, legends and all," Explained Fire King.
"You probably would like the book. It's about my friend's superhero OC Mighty Illustrator, which works together with Ladybug, Cat Noir and Inverso to defeat supervillains. Inverso is actually my…..uh supervillain-self, which is redeemed to be a good person,"
"Sounds like a cool story," Complimented Fire King. "If you ever publish it, I would love to read it,"
"Well you can read it on WhatBook. It's called the Adventures of Mighty Illustrator," Mentioned Marc making Fire King a little confused and look at Lady Frost, which shrugged her shoulders.
"I have no idea, what that is,"
"That's a internet site. Everyone, that writes original stories, poems, fanfictions and so on can post there anything of that," Explained Marc making the two superheroes nod.
"Okay, thanks" Responded Fire King, then Ladybug got down to met the trio.
"Marc, before I forgot. I want to give you this here," Ladybug mentioned handing him out a Reverser-themed magical charm. "It will protect you from getting akumatized into Reverser again,"
"Thanks Ladybug. Thank everyone from your team," Said Marc making the elemental-themed superheroes smile at the boy.
"Is anyone of you going to take him home or?" Asked Ladybug watching Cat Noir appear while jiggling with his staff.
"Mr. Anciel, your personal carrier is here," Offered Cat Noir picking up the boy on his arms, making him chuckle. "Mi'lady, King…..Snow Queen….," Commented Cat Noir making the blonde have her eyes open neutral at Cat Noir's comment. "See ya next time!"
"Bye Cat," Said Ladybug, then looked at Fire King and Lady Frost. "Are you alright, Lady Frost?"
"Why did he call me Snow Queen?" Questioned Lady Frost. "Snow Queen was a villain several years ago,"
"Uh you gotta ask that him. I'm sure he didn't mean to offend you in any way," Commented Ladybug. "You don't need to worry about anything. You're a heroine, just like me,"
"Yes Frosty. You're on the good side,"
"I know guys, thanks;" Responded Lady Frost, then Ladybug used her yo-yo to take off, then Fire King remembered his question and called Ladybug.
"Hey wait!" Shouted Fire King watching Ladybug stop on top of a light pole. "About those magical corsages, you gave the previous civilians, that were akumatized. Are we getting some of them too, actually?"
"Have you been akumatized before?" Asked Ladybug making Fire King shake his head. "I would have to know after we saved you from an akuma. This only works when we know what akuma villain you were before, but since you haven't been akumatized before I can't hand you one out nor anyone of the others,"
"Okay, I thought it was possible,"
"Don't worry King. As long as you're able to control your negative emotions, you won't have anything to worry about. If you want I can together with you train a few exercises to avoid entering into a bad situation,"
"It's kinda sad to think about how you cannot be sad or angry, because of Hawk Moth," Commented Lady Frost.
"I believe more than 100 persons around Paris enter into a negative mood. Hawk Moth is most likely to pick someone who's more worth as a supervillain. I don't know exactly if that's how he does, but I'm aware how it works more or less,"
"Okay,"
"See you two tomorrow," Said Ladybug waving goodbye at the two rookies, swinging up at the roof to make her way back home.
"So, looks like we gotta go home as well," Stated Lady Frost looking at Fire King, which pondered about what he should say to the blonde.
"Lady Frost, is it okay if tomorrow we go out again and I don't know….We train together again, hang out a little while?"
"Hmm I'm not sure if it works for me tomorrow, but the day after tomorrow it should do,"
"Okay and hey If this works for you, we could come a little earlier, so we would have more time and wouldn't have to worry about getting home so late,"
"Hmm at 7 or 8?" Questioned Lady Frost.
"8 maybe,"
"If you say so, I think it may work out tomorrow,"
"Cool. So it's a deal?" Asked Fire King making Lady Frost nod. "Okay, see you tomorrow,"
"Goodbye King," Said Lady Frost waving at Fire King, which ran around the building to get closer to the building, where the Hemming's apartment is located. Fire King ran around the building towards the place, where the balcony of the appartment was and pondered about how he should get there from the ground. Fire King looked at his hands, then had an idea and held his hands down, open then growled using the fire from his hands. Meanwhile, he was able to shut fire out from the bottom of his boots as well, which raised his strength to go up.
Fire King slowly raised up like a rocket approaching the balcony of the Hemming household. As Fire King was with his upper part of the body near the railing, he stopped using his power and grabbed himself on the railing. "Woah, I didn't know this would work," Commented Fire King, then threw himself into the balcony to lie on his back. Fire King sat up, then opened the door of the balcony, while destransforming back into his civilian self. "Coal, Cool down," Announced Fire King, then caught Coal before he landed on the ground and he crashed against something. "Whoa!"
"Rollan. You're a superhero?" Asked a voice shrieking Rollan, which spotted one of the twins standing in front of him awake.
"J….Jake?" Asked Rollan surprised. "W...what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be asleep?"
"I couldn't fall asleep and wanted to ask you to help me, then saw you were gone," Explained Jake making Rollan nod, then come down on his knees.
"Look pequeñuelo. No one should know about my life as a superhero. You and your brother shouldn't know it either. We may all get in danger when more people find out who I am,"
"I didn't know you were a hero. I didn't want to cause a mess," Confessed Jake sad, then Rollan caressed the boy on the cheek.
"Don't worry, so far nothing more happened beside this little issue. I just beg you to keep this secret here between us two. Can I trust you?" Asked Rollan making the little boy nod. "Muy bien," Responded Rollan, then opened his arms for the boy to hug him.
"Will you protect us all, when there will be anything bad?" Questioned the boy making Rollan nod.
"We superheroes are here for that. We won't let anyone get close to you, I promise," Rollan assumed making the boy smile. "Come, now get back to bed, before your mother or father sees you here,"
"Will you read me a bit to sleep again?" Questioned Jake. "Please?" Begged the Swedish boy making Rollan sigh, but nod at the boy.
"Of course, I'll do," Said Rollan accompanying the boy back to his bed, then sat down on the bed while picking up the book and Coal, which followed the duo jumped up on Rollan's leg to climb up on his leg to light the friend the book. "Oh uh…..thanks,"
"Who's that?" Asked Jake making Rollan chuckle.
"This is a long story, I'll tell you tomorrow about it," Commented Rollan making the boy nod, then Rollan leaned his back against the pillow next to Jake to read from the book.
"Farmer Han and Princess Lana lied together against a tree sleeping, while the loyal companion Din lied down on the ground napping. Throughout the night Lana's head dropped on Han's shoulder, which he didn't notice until the next morning as he woke up with the song of singing birds…." Rollan began, then yawned along with Jake, which lied the head on Rollan's arm. "Princess Lana opened her eyes slowly, then rolled up her eyes at the charming, young farmer and smiled at the sight she had to the man. Instead of doing anything specific, she just kept her head as it was on the man, closing her eyes again to continue the sleep,"
A while later the duo had fallen asleep together on the bed and at the entrance passed Georgette in her nightgown, then spotted Rollan still lying on the bed beside Jake sleeping. The nurse smiled, then got into the bedroom to pull up the cover over her son and Rollan, tucking both with it, then kissed Jake on his forehead and caressed Rollan softly on his cheek, hearing the young man slowly begin to snort softly, making her smile.
"Goodnight boys," Whispered the Frenchwoman.
