Chapter 26
Around 10 pm, Lady Frost was using her ice to travel further on the road, heading to the Champs de Mars, where she was supposed to meet Fire King, but she had forgotten about that agreement and left to see if he was around.
„I could really use an agenda. I can't believe I made two agreements at the same hour," Lady Frost complained, then passed by a barrack, where a small queue stood to obtain snacks and in the middle of the crown she recognized Fire King, which hold in his hand a five euro bill. „Oh wow, he's still around," Stated Lady Frost turning around, then jumped off her path to end her ride. „Fire King!"
The redhead looked aside and widened his eyes in surprise as the girl had shown up.
„Where have you been?" Questioned Fire King walking towards the girl. „I thought something had happened to you,"
„It was my fault, I had agreed to follow a friend into the cinema and I forgot about you," Explained Lady Frost. „I'm sorry about this,"
„Oh okay. It's fine. It's kind of hard to keep this life up. Just yesterday one of the boys in my household found out about my secret identity and I had to clarify it, why he shouldn't tell it, anyone…..then he told his brother and I had to warn them again,"
„Shoosh, that was bad,"
„I know they have understood the gravely of this case. I'm still a little concerned if this can still pass out from us three,"
„They probably are aware right now. How old are they if I may ask?"
„They're…...oh good question…..I think they're eight. They're in the age, where telling night stories is good," Commented Fire King, then chuckled. „I'm reading them some book, where one of the characters reminds me of your ice powers,"
„Cool, what's the name of the book?"
„It's…...okay I haven't paid attention to its title,"
„Serious King? You got to be kidding,"
„I'm having a lot going on in my life. I have to go to school, learn, do the homework, I have extra lessons to come closer to my class's school stuff, I have to do the laundry, the cooking, the babysitting and the cleaning. I'm lucky I'm able to sleep and have at least an hour and a few school breaks, so I can either rest or be around some new friends. I sometimes forget basic stuff from the daily routine,"
„I understand you. I didn't mean to offend you. It just felt weird to me,"
„It probably does, but it isn't," Mentioned Fire King placing his hand in front of his stomach. „Have you eaten something?"
„I ate popped corn from the cinema with my roommates. Have you eaten anything yet?"
„I had thought as we planned to get here we could get us something to eat," Commented Fire King, then saw only one person stood waiting for the order, then Fire King pointed at the cart as he looked at the blonde.
„What about the two of us get us something?" Offered the Spaniard. „I pay for us,"
„It's alright King, go eat for yourself. I'm fine for now," Answered Lady Frost making the boy shrug his shoulder and approach the cart to check the available fast foods. Lady Frost looked as well at the menu, interested at the serving and looked at Fire King, which glimpsed at the girl, that admired the variations.
„Good evening…..hey, hey Loris, the superheroes are here," Commented the cashier looking back at one of the cooks, which stored back a few unfold cartons for food.
„Is another akuma out…..oh they're….I don't recall their names," Commented Loris making Lady Frost chuckle.
„She's Lady Frost and I'm Fire King," Introduced the redhead. „We're here because we wanted to buy something to eat,"
„You can, I'm fine for now," Stated Lady Frost looking at Fire King, which nodded.
„Okay, if you don't want to, that's okay," Said Fire King making the girl smile and watch the superhero look at the menus. „Oh is it possible to get an omelet like there?" Asked Fire King making the cashier nod.
„Sure, how many do you want?" Asked the man, then Fire King showed him his cash bill.
„For how many do five euros serve?" Questioned the redhead. „Two?"
„You get three, actually," Said the cashier. „But I make you an offer. You pay five and get five or six. I think Paul should be done with the dough by now,"
„Maybe they'll work for seven,"
„Then make it seven. Then we're done with them," Announced the cashier. „What cream do you want on it? Hazelnut, Chocolate, jam or our daily suggestion…..rhubarb quark?"
„Uh how many variants can I have?"
„More if you'd like,"
„Okay I pick chocolate and the last one," Commented Fire King handing the man out the bill, then he watched along with Lady Frost the other man begin to make the omelets.
„What's rhubarb?" Questioned Lady Frost making the boy shrug his shoulders. „Okay, sounds interesting,"
„If you want you can take a bite," Offered Fire King. „We can share the omelets as well. I don't think I'm able to eat all of it,"
„Okay, if you don't mind it," Answered Lady Frost making the tall hero chuckle. „Why are you chuckling?"
„Just about the fact you decided to eat," Answered Fire King, then Lady Frost bumped Fire King on his chest with her first.
„You offered it. I was fine without it," Commented Lady Frost ironic, while crossing her arms making Fire King grin.
Later the two sat on top of a barrack in front of the Eiffel tower's socket looking at the place, where two police guards passed by wielding a special uniform and an SMG on their hands.
„They are quite many guards around here or is it my impression only?" Questioned Lady Frost making Fire King shrug his shoulders.
„I've seen it before, but I didn't quite pay attention to the number,"
„Maybe it's for other cases or for some other akumas. Maybe they were ones, that would attack people here,"
„Could be," Mumbled Fire King after taking a big bite of another rolled omelet from his paper plate. „By the way, did you like the rhubarb one?"
„It was good," Commented Lady Frost. „Thanks for the offer,"
„No problem, if you want you can have one of the last ones. It's rhubarb and chocolate,"
„I'm fine. Really. Keep them for yourself,"
„I take a small break from eating," Mentioned Fire King. „I feel like I'm about to explode,"
„You ate about five by yourself."
„It was enough the ones that are for sale according to the menu. The men there just were nice with us,"
„Are you able to train now with a full belly?" Questioned the ice-themed superheroine.
„I should be. I'm not expecting to be hanging upside down from somewhere," Commented Fire King making the girl smile. Lady Frost had an idea, then used her hands to create a slide in front of the barrack to show it to Fire King which looked amazed at it.
„Great!" Complimented the superhero, then the blonde slipped down on it, then looked up to wait for Fire King, which got on it and slid down stopping in front of Lady Frost's feet.
„Now this spared us a bit time," Commented Fire King, then Lady Frost glanced around then encountered a path, that led to a park with a small lake. Lady Frost looked at the superhero and pointed at the place.
„What sort of park is that one?"
„I don't know," Responded Fire King. „Are you interested to see it?"
„Perhaps it would be useful to get to know it?" Answered Lady Frost unsure. „Or at least we know it exists for a further day,"
„Okay," Responded Fire King, then ran along with the heroine at the path to see it along the path there was a fence that blocked their way to the pond, where they spotted a few ducks on the grass near it sleeping.
„Oh look sleeping ducks," Mentioned Lady Frost making Fire King nod.
„Sitting here over the day for a picnic or just sit here and enjoy the nature would be interesting here,"
„You're a lover of nature I see?" Questioned Fire King making Lady Frost nod.
„Want to know what my favorite season is?" Questioned the girl making Fire King shrug his shoulders.
„What's that?"
„The four divisions with the weather. You know winter, autumn, spring….,"
„Ah sure, what is it?"
„It's Autumn. You know why?" Questioned Lady Frost.
„The falling leaves?"
„Yes and the number of warm colors they have. The time there then is very smooth. Not too hot and not cold, but still warm,"
„Sounds delightful," Commented Fire King. „You're quite fascinated about it,"
Lady Frost giggled, then leaned her arms on the fence along with Fire King, which looked at her with an enchanting smile and she noticed a duck wake up and look towards them. „Aww"
„Quack! Quack!" Released the duck, then took off and passed above Fire King's head causing him to bow down, accidentally putting his hair on fire, which Lady Frost noticed and chuckled.
„I didn't know this happened to you when you get scared,"
„I didn't get scared, I didn't want him to get hurt," Lied Fire King making Lady Frost laugh at his excuse. „Okay I was afraid he would poop on me,"
„Wouldn't be a big deal, you've got water right there," Joked Lady Frost making Fire King roll his eyes, but then he noticed the girl still laughing, then chuckled as well.
„One thing I've gotta admit. You've got a very beautiful laugh," Complimented the fire-themed superhero making Lady Frost smile embarrassed by the compliment.
„That's sweet from you," Responded the blonde looking down turning slightly red on the cheeks. Fire King scratched his neck, pondering about what he could talk about her with and noticed the ringing bells of a church and smiled.
„Now from hearing those bells, we should check out the Notre Dame some time?" Asked Fire King making Lady Frost widen her eyes.
„Wait it's getting really late. We should head back home," Warned Lady Frost stepping away from the fence making Fire King form his mouth into an O, but nodded.
„Sure, we've got school tomorrow," The redhead said neutral, then Lady Frost held up her fist and Fire King smiled, giving her his fist.
„Buenas noches, King," Wished Lady Frost, then created herself the ice path and passed by Fire King which admired her on her way back home with a smug smile.
Marinette sat in front of her computer having a video call with Alya Césaire.
„I saw at the entrance of the Louvre Master Fu along with his girlfriend going on a guided tour," Mentioned Marinette. „Both seemed happy about their date,"
„Have you spoken to him or did you move on?" Questioned the fox miraculous holder making Marinette shake her head. „I was inside the bus when I saw him, but I waved at him and Marianne saw me and spoke to him. He glanced shortly though,"
„That's nice,"
„Despite Su-Han having promised to stay around for this time I still feel like I'm the only one carrying the weight as a guardian. Thanks to You and Cat Noir I'm feeling slightly lighter than before. Still, it's stressful, but I feel like it was worse before,"
„If I think about the number of months you have kept your identity a secret from me and the others, it's quite crazy to think about how it feels like to do so,"
„And the number of times I had to lie to you, my parents, my friends, and the teachers to get out to save Paris…..It's quite crazy,"
„I'm more surprised how some of your excuses were so ridiculous and nothing happened….well sometimes I mean,"
„The one I never got is how Miss Bustier once believed me I had to babysit Jagged's crocodile, Fang. This was the weirdest moment she believed me,"
„Last time I went out as Rena Rouge Mendeleiev bought my period excuse although I used it two weeks ago,"
„Lucky us, then," Commented Marinette then sighed. „This reminds me of the first few days I began to work together with Master Fu and he commented how negative it is to lie to the people you love, how painful it is,"
„I know what you mean," Agreed Alya sinking down her head along with her best friend. „Look, we will beat Hawk Moth any day. No matter what it takes us, if it takes all us superheroes to join the fight or if one loses its life on the battle,"
„Woah I think this with the losing the life is really hard," Mentioned Marinette making Alya nod.
„Well, I hope it never gets to that case. We've lost Master Fu, but well he gave up his life's memories in order to help you and Cat Noir. It's a…..well, better than having to live with carrying the knowledge of having lost a friend,"
„Alya…..aren't you afraid, that things might go wrong and we lose against Hawk Moth?" Questioned Marinette making Alya shake her head.
„We've been doing an excellent job, Marinette. We just gotta keep going. We will take him down. We almost caught him twice. The third time we will definitely get closer to him. I tell you!"
„Thanks for your motivation, Alya. Only Cat Noir jokes additionally and my mood would increase for more points," Commented Marinette making Alya laugh.
„Talking about Cat Noir, where exactly did you say he found those miraculouses of Lady Frost and Fire King, which you mentioned to know nothing about?"
„Well, Marianne Lenoir told me about them. He…..uh well that's a good question…..oh wait a second. It was at the house of the Agreste's, so Gabriel's house,"
„Gabriel's house?!" Asked Alya surprised.
„I know and now that we're talking about this, have you noticed, that in the week Gabriel left to go to Norway during his absence there were no akuma activities?"
„I didn't pay any attention to that detail, but this begins to get strange for me. Have you thought about looking around his house for any clues, that could lead us to a confirmation, that Gabriel in fact is Hawk Moth or if this is just pure coincidence?"
„No, I haven't. It will be a little hard to get into his house without making it seem suspicious," Mentioned Marinette making Alya nod and ponder about another plan.
„You know, I'm not sure if it is a good idea to tell Adrien, what's going on and if he could see what's up inside his manor. Or I could send Nino in there as he's more or less known by Gabriel," Suggested Alya. „On the other hand, I don't think Nino will be able to be around his house for so long. It had to be someone, who Gabriel blindly trusts,"
„He does in fact let Lila or Kagami into his house easily. Chloé as well, but I don't think she's able to help us out. Lila's more or less the same and Kagami could be useful,"
„But do Adrien and Kagami get along?" Asked Alya making Marinette shrug her shoulders.
„I know they're not dating anymore and they seem to be distant now. She's the best shot we got at the moment. We have to explain to her what's up, eventually Adrien as well. After that, we let both try to gain information about him and we'll see what we may discover,"
„That sounds like a good plan," Commented Marinette. „I had been thinking on another plan, which would consist your illusion powers, like for example you have an actual criminal break inside the manor and while they're finding a way to get rid of him, we can go in there as well and seek for information on our own. Well Cat Noir and I,"
„Hmm I think your plan is quite risky in my opinion. If you don't mind, I think we should stick with the first one and eventually expand it out. Contact Kagami and Adrien, tell them what's up, then we'll see, how we….well Adrien is going to convince his father to have Kagami inside their house,"
„Okay, maybe you're right. If the second plan would fail, he would doubt us to be spying on him. Let's stick to plan A then. When I see Cat Noir the next time, I'll tell him about it, eventually, I may ask Fire King and Lady Frost to be around the place or no I think I leave them out of it for now,"
„For now on it's better…..By the way, is there something going on between the two?"
„What do you mean?" Asked Marinette. „I think they just met recently. Or do you think they're or one of them is in love?"
„Just wondering. They remind me of you and Cat Noir,"
„Yeah perhaps because of their yin-yang dynamic. They haven't shown so far any romantic attraction to each other or weren't even flirting the same way Cat Noir would do," Stated Marinette making Alya nod. „You noticed anything I didn't?"
„I was just asking,"
„Don't worry if there is something I talk to them about it,"
„Calm down Marinette. They're aware of the secrecy. This must be just my mind,"
„Could be…..hey we were supposed to work on our algebra homework. Shall we?"
„Yeah, good idea. Soon my sisters are home with dad and they'll want to be with me," Mentioned Alya making Marinette giggle imagining the troublesome duo playing with the older sister.
Kai woke up while yawning then looked down at his knees to see his romantic interest sleep on his lap peacefully. The boy smiled and caressed the girl on the head, then looked across the wagon to see the cart was parked and around the area more railways were present, some occupied by other wagons of diverse trains. Kai noticed on the outside the daylight and shrieked as he figured out that the two missed their stop due to the sleep.
"Oh gosh not again," Complained Kai then looked down at Alfida and nudged her carefully. "Alfida, we have fallen asleep. We missed our stop,"
Alfida moved her head up, then opened her eyes glimpsing up at the raven-haired boy.
"Are we there?" Questioned Alfida, then noticed the daylight and noticed the reason the boy woke her up. "Oh, no did we miss our stop again?" Questioned the former pirate girl who got up along with the boy and together they approached the exit to look out of the wagon.
"Do you see anything?" Questioned Kai, then Alfida grabbed Kai by his arm and jumped out of the vehicle to run above the railway up to the rotating plane platform.
"Hmm.." Mumbled Alfida looking around the place and encountered a shield. "Bretagne"
"Bretagne? So are you telling me we landed in the United Kingdom?"
"Why the United Kingdom?"
"Doesn't it translate it into French as something with the word Bretagne?"
"I don't know, perhaps, but I think it's a unlikely for us to be in another country again. The best thing we can do is get into the train station and ask for directions" Suggested Alfida. "Or a little bit of knowledge about where we are and how we're going to Paris with no more interruption or distraction,"
"Alright. Let us get out of the railroad and get into the train station. While we're on it, we can as well check out the time and get us breakfast before leaving" Kai mentioned. "What do you say? Is that okay?"
"What about finding out first how far we're away from Paris? If we're still quite a couple of miles away I would moment we know nothing about our distance but if we know anything more we can definitely breakfast first and find ourselves a new ride" The girl suggested.
"Your idea is better. I'm with you on this"
"Alright then let's get out of here,'" Asked Alfida grabbing Kai by his hand to pull him with her.
