Chapter 30
Rollan accompanied the twins into their bedroom, then watched them all lie down in their bed covering themselves and Rollan grabbed their book to take a look at the next chapter. Rollan heard the boys yawn, then observed them close their eyes without saying a word. Rollan chuckled, then passed his hand over Jake's head and repeated it on Jett's head as well. Jett opened his eyes slowly to see Rollan and the boy grabbed the teen gently on his hand.
„Are you going to bed now?" Questioned Jett making Rollan nod.
„Are you expecting me to leave?" Whispered Rollan making the boy nod. „I have to when there's an issue going on,"
„Promise me to be careful,"
„I will pequenuelo," Promised Rollan nudging the boy on the forehead. Rollan glanced over the window, then back at the boy. „Good night," Wished Rollan getting up, then made his way to his bedroom and closed the door behind him.
Coal sat on top of the table looking at the raven-haired boy, which sat down on the bed and picked up his smartphone to see the time. Rollan saw on his smartphone a message of Gerda, which he opened and it showed Gerda standing on top of a small stage singing along with another youth home mate. Rollan chuckled and sent her a small sentence.
„Seeing you perform closer would be cooler," Commented Rollan and placed his phone down on the bed. Coal jumped down, then made a noise and Rollan looked down to see Coal had broken in two pieces and now the second coal, which named itself Slinky made his way up to Rollan's leg and climbed it up.
„What is going on, boy?" Questioned Slinky, then looked at the smartphone of the teenager to see the message from Gerda. „Oh it's that girl you brought home the other day, isn't that Coal?" Asked Slinky looking down at his brother, which tried to climb up Rollan's leg and fell down on his back breaking again into two pieces to form a third stone-like spirit.
„Hey everyone," Greeted the third creature making Rollan flinch his teeth and shush the entire trio.
„Hey, the others are about to sleep. They can't know you're all here," Warned Rollan, then Slinky showed the smartphone to the two spirits on the floor.
„I think that's the girl, that kissed him the other day," Mentioned Slinky dropping the floor on the new spirit's hand. „Take a good look at it, Carbon,"
„Ah yes…...which one are you talking about?" Asked Carbon, which got slapped by Coal, which made another smaller coal-spirit get born, making Rollan groan.
„ Dios Mio," Complained Rollan, then Slinky jumped up on Rollan's leg.
„Hey buddy, don't worry. You've got a chance with her. The reason she kissed you was most likely to earn your attention in which she got now. You just have to respond back and BAM!…...you're two are a thing,"
„I know that. I'm just….you know, there's this other girl I'm interested and….it's odd, I can't go a lot with her anywhere and this makes me want to try more in getting closer with her. I'm trying to get to know her during the times we're together, to win her as a friend or a good friend,"
„I see, what you're doing wrong," Mentioned Carbon. „You're trying to have her as a friend and not as a girlfriend. You're doing it wrong,"
„Carbon, I can't just go tell her I want to date her, that's weird,"
„No it's not," Responded Carbon, making Rollan frown.
„Why don't you try your chance on Gerda instead?" Questioned Slinky. „At least we know she likes you the way you like Lady Frost,"
„But at the moment she doesn't like him….or well Fire King," Mentioned Coal.
„Hey we should try to help him, rather than making it worse," Mentioned the fourth charcoal-like spirit.
„Hey, hey, leave him. We're not helping him," Warned Carbon, then Rollan got up and opened the window.
„Amigos, I need to get out of here and think clearer. If you don't mind, I need to transform," Warned Rollan making the creatures nod and approach their holder. „Coal, I'm fired up!" Shouted Rollan and all the spirits got soaked into the belt of Rollan to transform him into the fire-themed superhero Fire King.
Ladybug and Rena Rouge sat together on the roof of a building near the mansion of the Agreste's watching it.
„Seeing the video of his reaction to seeing his mother in that state really breaks my heart. I have never seen him like that," Confessed Ladybug sad.
„I was expecting him to have a negative reaction when he would figure out his father was Hawk Moth all along, but the fact that he also found out his mother had been since her disappearance under their house this whole time inside a glass coffin this takes the whole cake. This is insane,"
„Well said," Agreed Ladybug. „I have been able to reach Viperion about what happened. I'm looking forward to see Fire King, Lady Frost and Cat Noir as well. Oddly I've been unable to reach Cat the entire day,"
„Didn't you say Cat Noir was sick?" Questioned Rena Rouge making Ladybug shrug her shoulders.
„Maybe I did. I actually don't remember, what I said. So many things are going on all at once and I can't order them all always correctly,"
„You know…..I've seen a yoga class a few blocks away from here. If we stay in the block behind it, we can participate in it. I heard yoga helps us relax," Suggested Rena Rouge making Ladybug smile.
Kai and Alfida showed up at the mom moment the two heroines turned their heads back and recognized the two teens.
"Oh hey, I know you two," Mentioned Ladybug making the two love interests nod.
"Good evening Ladybug. Funny to see you here," Mention Alfida making the bluenette nod.
"We were discussing a previous issue and were about to leave for a break to clear our heads," Mentioned the bug-themed heroine. "Have you found the friend you've been looking for?"
"Not yet" Responded Alfida. "Were using a map to make it through the city together to find her,"
"That's good. Shall I have my eyes open in case I see your certain friend somewhere?"
"Sure Kai, have you got a decent description for her?" Questioned the girl then Kai shook his head.
"I can tell her how she looks like," Suggested Kai making the superheroes nod. "She is about a head taller than me, is 16 years old, last time she wore her hair in braids, dark-blonde color...she wore a white skirt and s beige blouse I think...oh and she had a wreath around her head.
"Hmm the description reminds me of Lady Frost," Commented Rena Rouge. "Except she has silver-blonde I believe it is called,"
"Alright I got the description, I will hold out my eyes and...in case I need to mention their seekers, who should I name?"
" Her younger brother Kai and her friend Alfida," Mentioned the boy making the girl nod.
"That's good. Do you two need help, a guidance to a hotel or anything?" Questioned Ladybug making the teens shake their heads. "Okay, but be careful out there. There could be many hazards around the city. You two better seek a shelter,"
"We will don't worry," Promised Alfida placing her hand on Kai's shoulder to walk along the bridge to head to the other side while the boy picked out their map to search for a location.
Lady Frost sat on the roof of a building staring at the lightened Eiffel Tower and enjoyed the beauty of it at that time of the day.
"I heard something about in the history book that you were supposed to be taken down. I can't believe that this was once an idea. Getting rid of such a magnificent monument is just sad," Told Gerda herself and scanned the surroundings to spot only empty streets with fewer cars heading back home.
"I think it's not worth it to be here all alone. Nothing is going on at the moment," Commented the girl in the blue coat.
Lady Frost got up and looked down at the path, then created from above the building down to the bottom a long slide with a curve in the middle to lead her down to the sidewalk. Lady Frost leaped on top of the slide to get down on the ground. , afterward, she got up and looked back at the slide, which still stood.
"I'm getting better...what if I do something different?" Questioned the heroine herself and began to build with her powers a small soap cart, which was based on an up top standing wheelbarrow with wheels on all four sides. Lady Frost chuckled and took a better look at it.
"This could use a few adjustments" Commented the blonde, then she heard a whistle and saw Fire King ran towards her and stopped by the car.
"Buenas tardes!" Greeted the redhead placing his hands on the ice-made vehicle and checked it out. "What? Did you make this?"
"Yeah, isn't it cool?" Questioned the girl making the boy nod.
"It is," Agreed Fire King, then tried to sit inside the vehicle and noticed that the space was for him too tight. "Okay, I made a mistake" Commented Fire King making Gerda's alter ego chuckle.
"Alright, I help you out," Warned Lady Frost giving the boy her hand and tried to pull him out.
Lady Frost placed her foot against the car using it to force herself to pull Fire King out with no success again.
"I can't pull you hard enough," Commented the blonde continuing to pull him then stopped afterward.
"Is it okay if I burn it down?" Questioned Fire King making Lady Frost nod and the hero created fire on his hands, beginning to melt aside him the cart.
"I think now you can try," Lady Frost commented giving Fire King her hand, then she yelped making Fire King shriek and watch the heroine puff at her hand.
"Are my hands really that hot?" Asked Fire King startled by the accident and Lady Frost nodded.
"It's fine now," Answered Lady Frost watching Fire King use his power to melt more of the ice, which slowly got fluid, then it came into contact with Fire King, which made him groan in pain.
"Argh!Zzzzzz!"
"Oh no," Commented Lady Frost getting on top of the vehicle to break down the steering wheel and tried to grab Rollans alter ego under his arms to pull him out carefully.
"Hold on!" Warned Lady Frost, then they heard a voice and saw Cat Noir land beside them to notice their trouble.
"What happened?" Asked Cat Noir, then shove his arms under Fire King's waist to help Lady Frost pull the boy out which slipped over the car hood. Lady Frost pushed the cart away, thereafter looked along with Cat Noir at their friend.
"What were you doing in ber car?" Questioned the cat-themed superhero which made the rookie feel embarrassed.
"I was curious to take a try on her ice-made vehicle," Announced the redhead making the blonde nod.
"Okay, do they actually work as well?" Questioned the partner making Lady Frost shrug her shoulders.
"King was going to try it out, but failed," Pointed the blue-dressed girl.
"Maybe she can make herself a bigger one with more space," Suggested the Spaniard making the girl smile.
"I can practice on it," Commented LadyFrost. "And I make sure your waist fits in it," Joked Lady Frost making the two boys laugh.
"Well planned,"
A half-hour later, Ladybug landed on top of the Françoise Dupont school ground towards her apartment. Ladybug looked at her parents' bakery and before she took off Cat Noir came along landing beside her.
"Good evening, Ladybug. I hope I'm not interrupting anything,"
"No, I was heading back home and made a short break here to...take s look"
"Okay uhm look I just wanted to ask you what you have planned in relation to the Hawk Moth-Gabriel history or if you're waiting a little,"
"I decided to wait a little. From now on we know for sure that he's responsible for everything that's going on in Paris and elsewhere. The second part is that he's hiding the...uh corpse of his wife in the repository. The most strange part about this is why keeps her away from his son the fact that she's dead? Why did he tell him she had gone missing? Why is he hiding her in the basement? This all is so weird,"
"It really is, Ladybug," Admitted Cat Noir while his voice broke. "I can't believe it he didn't tell m...his son about it. Not even at some point. How many years have they been split? Two years or three?"
"When we confront him in the future, he will deliver the answers. What is more curious for me is the fact he lied to Adrien in the first place. I know with 12 years you're still naive about certain topics but you would know how to handle it,"
"There really is something fishy going on. Honestly, if he had anything to do with what happened to my mom, I wouldn't be surprised,"
"Yeah" Agreed Ladybug, looked across the buildings along with the partner and sighed a little relieved. "This yoga course actually helped me out,"
"You did yoga and didn't call me?" Questioned Cat Noir surprised. "I could have needed a lesson as well," Pouted the blonde.
"I could have but I didn't want to have a drooling cat while doing the downward dog" Joked Ladybug making Cat Noir frown.
" I would never do such thing M'lady" Commented Cat Noir crossing his arms. "I'm deeply offended," The Frenchman said ironically making Ladybug laugh.
"That's good or I would have hitten your face if I saw," Added the blue-haired girl making the friend chuckle.
"Alright," Spoke Cat Noir and took out his staff. "I'm not sure what you're up to, but I'm going to take another spin around the city, what about you?"
"I will be going home. It would not be bad if I could fall asleep quickly.
"I had times after so e rough akumas that I've fallen asleep like a baby," Commented Cat Noir making the leader chuckle.
"You weren't the. the only one," Ladybug pointed out earning a nod from the superhero.
A car honked loud, followed by a loud braking called the attention of the two long-experienced superheroes which exchanged look, then Cat Noir nodded and together the two swung across Paris to spot the noise, which was at the other side of the Notre Dame. On the street, they encountered a car with braking marks behind it standing vice versa to a tall person who was wearing a long 60s' cloak and had black and white shades as in movies from the first years of its evolution.
"Is that an akuma?" Questioned Cat Noir making Ladybug nod.
"The butterflies didn't find a way out of the repository," Commented Ladybug then watched the supervillain use a staff it had on her hand as a magic wand and used it on the car, which turned it into a carriage with two horses and the driver sitting on the vehicle with medieval time clothing.
"Oh she reminds me of another supervillain, what was his name again?"
"I think it was Bakerix or Desperada," The bug-themed heroine said. "Go down to them, I'll call for backup,"
"I'm on it!'" Answered Cat Noir, then did a barrel roll while jumping above the schoolhouse and ran over the bridge to meet the supervillain and Ladybug took out her yo-yo to call somebody. "Rena, we just spotted a new akuma, warn Fire King and Lady Frost,"
"Count on me, Ladybug!" Answered Rena Rouge, then Ladybug ended the call and jumped at the balcony of her house, to get into her room afterward.
Fire King and Lady Frost sat together at the bridge, that led to the Trocadero. Both watched the Seine under their feet, which flows through the entire city.
„Today was a really good day for me. I could focus well on our mission and help take the villain down along with you," Announced Lady Frost. „I felt as well more confident now at certain uses of my power, thanks to the training,"
„Great, I knew soon or later it would be worth something," Answered Fire King. „At least we can now understand each other and work out quicker as at the start,"
„I had an odd start I think…...Actually I don't even know, what was up at the start, but I'm glad it worked out in the end,"
„I think it could be us not having any idea how to use our powers or how to fight. I was, to be honest excited to be helping out the superheroes in battling villains. At some moment I believed that my powers weren't as creative to use as I thought first,"
„So did I but you see I could do more and there's a possibility that I'm up to more than I know," Commented Lady Frost. „Maybe I'm able to build bigger things than that little cart,"
„Certamente! You just have to try it. That's what our training is here for," Stated the redhead making the girl chuckle.
„Right," Answered Lady Frost then glanced away from the friend before speaking at him again. „This sounds a little weird, but I feel like I've been working with you way longer, that it is,"
„What do you mean?"
„I don't know. Since the first few times, I had the feeling, I had been working with someone I know for a longer time or that we had already worked together at some point of our lives,"
„Could be a thing. I have the feeling I had seen you several times before, but suddenly it's like we have met a short while ago,"
„Okay, now between us two only, are you aware, that I look like an inspiration on the Snow Queen?"
„Uh...si?" Responded Fire King unsure, then Lady Frost pondered about how she should continue the conversation.
„Okay, I think it doesn't make any sense. I thought I had made a connection of something, but I think it's not like that,"
„It's fine…...hey, you know, there is this one girl in the city named Gerda. She was frozen for years along with another guy. I heard she was the same Gerda, that defeated the Snow Queen years ago," Stated Fire King while Lady Frost listened wondering who else knew about this story.
„Who told you that story?" Questioned Lady Frost with a smirk, knowing the superhero might be telling lies.
„Some random….. guy. I don't know his name actually," Commented Fire King, making Lady Frost cross her arms with a smirk, afterward someone whistled and behind them passed Rena Rouge stopping by the duo.
„Hey you two, head to the Notre Dame. There's a new akuma and Ladybug and Cat Noir are right now dealing with it," Warned the fox-themed superheroine making the elemental-themed superheroes nod and get up.
„Alright, gosh this is going to be a long run until there," Mentioned Fire King. „You think we've got a better idea, than running?"
Lady Frost thought about Fire King's comment and widened her eyes as she got the solution and began to use her power to build at the middle of the bridge step by step a large, vehicle, which first remained unrecognizable to the redhead, which continued to watch her creation grow.
Fire King dropped his mouth as he began to recognize, what Lady Frost was creating with her ice powers. Moments later she finished and the large ice-made locomotive landed on the ground making the Spaniard gasp.
„Eso es increíble!" Shouted Fire King grabbing his head, then Lady Frost gave Fire King a thumb up, which wrapped his arms around the girl excited. „Es increíble. This is fantastic!" Commented Fire King while Lady Frost felt a little embarrassed at Fire King's reaction, then he run up into the locomotive, followed by Lady Frost.
„Hey! The locomotive isn't a toy!" Warned Lady frost packing Fire King on his shoulders to prevent him to touch its steering wheel.
„Aww come on!" Complained Fire King, then watched Lady Frost pull a rein above her to make the vehicle honk.
„If you're okay with it, you're my navigator. You get time to ride it another time," Suggested the blonde making the friend nod.
„Alright, focus on the road and tell me the directions,"
„Head to the Trocadero and turn right," Ordered the Fire King watching Lady Frost steer the locomotive with a large steering wheel, that was attached in the interior of the train.
