Chapter 36
The school lessons had ended for the day and the students made their way back to after school activities while another part made their way back home. Gerda walked along with Rose and Juleka downstairs, then the three turned aside to cross the court. Gerda spotted on the other side from a classroom Rollan walk out along with Luka, then she nudged Rose on her arm.
„I'll be right back," Warned Gerda making Rose nod, which stopped with Juleka to watch Gerda approach the Spaniard and grabbed Juleka's hand with a big smile.
„I bet she's going to ask him out," Commented Rose making Juleka chuckle.
„Didn't she say before she wanted to thank him for helping me?" Questioned Juleka making Rose nod.
„That too, perhaps,"
Gerda approached the tall boy, then got in front of Rollan, which stopped along with Luka.
„Can I talk to you? It's quick," Asked Gerda making Rollan nod, then Luka smiled and made his way towards his older sister to check on her mood.
„You're okay?" Asked Rollan making Gerda nod.
„Yes, I am. I just wanted to thank you for helping me and the girls out of that situation this morning,"
„It's okay. Those kinds of people aren't worth being around though. You know that trio, not Juleka and Rose. They're good girls,"
„Thanks. They have been quite lovely to me," Stated Gerda. „You have got to like it here since our arrival, right?"
„It might sound hard to believe it, but I think this is the first time I enjoyed being alive, going to school, and doing homework….okay I still dislike doing homework, but I feel like I was happier than before,"
„You didn't like it to go to school before?" Asked Gerda curious making Rollan nod. Gerda looked down at her feet, then remembered he commented once something about his past school time. „Didn't you say once you were bullied before?"
„I did," Answered Rollan. „You know, when I was all on our own I began to read stories about legends and other heroes. I got so fascinated by their adventures I began to play by myself and act like a hero. Once I had helped an old lady gain her purse back and after she told me I was meant to be a hero someday I began to like that feeling and…..practiced with a stick sword fighting until I gained enough coins to buy myself one at the blacksmith and placed myself in danger to stop actual criminals from endangering our village. Sometimes it ended up in chaos, others were nothing harmful and most of the times this had happened anyone from my school was there and told it further…..I became a joke for the entire school year,"
„All this because you wanted to help your people," Commented Gerda making Rollan nod, then sat down on a bench nearby the classroom. Gerda got down next to him seeing him look neutral at the ground. „You probably have risked your life unnecessary, but that's not an excuse, that you're a moron or incompetent. You just wanted to help,"
„Si. Thats right," Commented Rollan, then Gerda placed her hand on Rollan's leg.
„A true friend wouldn't have laughed at you or well not made fun of you. Perhaps it would just feel worried about you and ask you to don't do it alone,"
„That one friend would have been right," Commented Rollan making Gerda shrug her shoulders.
„I haven't seen your fight, but I assume you're decent enough," Stated Gerda making Rollan chuckle.
„If this is what you think I'm kind of happy,"
„Are you still thinking about those moments?" Questioned Gerda making Rollan shake his head.
„Actually, I haven't thought about it a single moment to be honest," Answered Rollan. „At least the negative aspects, but that's good, isn't it?" Questioned Rollan earning a nod from the blonde.
„In a way, it is," Answered Gerda making Rollan smile.
„Thanks for the talk. It feels good to talk with others about it,"
„No problem," Responded Gerda seeing Rollan having his eyes glued on her, then she looked down as she danced with her foot. „Were you this morning sad about….something else?"
„It's okay, I will accept that," Answered Rollan. „I had told a girl I liked her but….she looks with other eyes to me and I need to move on now,"
„Oh really?" Asked Gerda sad, then Rollan nodded neutrally at the friend. „She will miss the opportunity to get to know the real you," Commented Gerda making Rollan nod.
„You know me better?" Questioned Rollan making Gerda shrug.
„Not every little detail, but a little bit more than usual. I think quite more than I do know Rose or Juleka,"
„This is probably strange, but I think it might be, because I know you a little longer than the others. I can talk with you better about certain feelings, than I could with the boys….Okay Kim had confessed, that he had a crush once on a girl, but she rejected him in a worse way,"
„Ouch, that really sounds not nice,"
„Yeah. At some aspect, I'm glad my rejection was at least friendlier," Mentioned Rollan. „Somewhere out there I may have the person, who's meant to be with me. Who knows, maybe I have already met her,"
„Yeah," Agreed Gerda sliding a little closer to the boy. „And maybe, you're closer to her, than you think," Noticed Gerda looking up at the raven-haired boy, which lifted up his right eyebrown at Gerda's approach.
„Have you planned to go with anyone to this prom night on Saturday?" Questioned the Spaniard making Gerda shake her head.
„No. What about you?" Questioned Rollan seeing the girl has the same answer as him.
„Eventually I'm going to get asked today by a certain guy," Answered Gerda tapping on the leg of the Spaniard, which began to understand that the girl was still interested in him.
„Well…..what would you say, if today someone else would have asked you out like…...me?" Questioned Rollan noticing Gerda blush a little at his quick realization. „Would you come along, if I had asked you out?"
Gerda chuckled at his question, then nodded at his question and grabbed his hands tightly. „Whoa!"
„Of course I would," Answered Gerda making Rollan smile and place his other hand over hers.
„So…..then we will see each other on that night?" Questioned Rollan making Gerda nod.
„We're gonna see each other the other days as well. At least during the breaks," Commented Gerda with a smug smile making Rollan nod.
„Of course and in case there is something, I'm around,"
„It won't be needed," Commented Gerda making Rollan smile, then she got up looking at the Spaniard, which pondered for a second and got up.
„Wait…..uhm…..do I have to meet you first at the youth home?" Asked Rollan making Gerda shrug her shoulders.
„I haven't decided yet. Is it okay, if I tell you that later?"
„Si. I haven't found anything for the evening yet," Commented Rollan making Gerda nod, then she approached the boy to grab him on his t-shirt and pecked him on the cheek, then she ran across the court leaving Rollan back. Rollan smiled seeing the girl enter into another classroom, then Wayhem ran against Rollan jumping at his back to pat his head.
„You made it, amigo!" Commented Wayhem. „You got out of the friendzone!"
„What zone? I'm trying to move on as it was told me and if I have to be honest. I think I'm beginning to like her," Commented Rollan, then Wayhem kept ribbing his head, annoying the friend.
„Even better! Come, this is a great start. Just follow your instincts and with the time…..you'll have her lying deep in your arms, just like this," Wayhem instructed placing himself into Rollan's arms making him feel estranged by the approach of the friend.
„Wayhem, please take your arms off me," Asked Rollan frowning at the friend, which got away from Rollan, then looked along with him at Luka.
„Care for a match of basketball?" Asked Luka watching Wayhem exchange looks with Rollan.
„Come, I want to see if your motivation for the match is still present or…..improved," Luka joked making Rollan roll his eyes away, embarassed. „Don't worry, you got this," Assured Luka placing his hand on Rollan's shoulder.
Adrien sat inside his bedroom playing on the piano, then looked outside of the window to spot Rena Rouge race above the roof leaving the place, making Adrien remember what he heard back at the school.
„Oh I gotta call Rena," Commented Adrien getting up from his bench to enter into the restroom, then Plagg got out of his jacket.
„Call?" Questioned Plagg.
„I'll meet her later when needed. First I just have to tell her about Rollan,"
„Alright, go for it,"
„Plagg, claws out!" Shouted Adrien turning into Cat Noir, then he picked up his staff to call the fox-themed superheroine. „Meow, it's Cat Noir,"
„Hey Cat. Is something going on?"
„Yeah, I just called you today cause there's eventually a tiny little problem. You know, since I know Fire King's identity I kind of heard a conversation, where he found out Nathaniel, the boy you used in your illusion with Lady Frost. He's apparently somewhere in Germany because of a funeral and that since Monday. He found out, that this Nathaniel here we used wasn't really Nathaniel and was someone else,"
„Oh and now he's….angry or?"
„Well he didn't seem angry about it, but he wasn't happy either. I just fear, that he might speak about this to Lady Frost and it could lead to consequences,"
„Okay, good, that you told me that. I will think about something. Don't worry about it,"
„Okay and any news about Ladybug?"
„Nothing yet," Answered Rena Rouge. „Don't worry, I'll let you know when there is something new,"
„Okay, in case I hear anything about Fire King wanting to speak to Lady Frost, I'll try to contact you,"
„Sure don't break your head about it, we will find an excuse for that,"
„Great, bye," Cat Noir finished the call, then leaped at the window of his bathroom to look at Rena Rouge standing on top of a building and head towards the Notre Dame disappearing behind it.
In the evening in the youth home, Kai and Alfida sat together on a bed, while in front of them stood Bianca along with Gerda watching the two teens in their new clothing.
„Okay, you two look okay for now," Mentioned Bianca looking at the two. Kai wore brown jeans and a white t-shirt while Alfida wore a pink blouse and black pants.
„I look horrendous," Complained Alfida making Kai flinch his teeth at her comment.
„I understand you but don't worry. Each week you receive a certain amount of money and then you'll be able to obtain yourself something, that suits you," Mentioned Bianca making Alfida nod. „I couldn't find anything better for your size at the moment,"
„Talking about getting clothes. I haven't get myself any new clothes yet and this Saturday we're all going to that prom at the school, is it alright if I leave on Friday to get some?" Asked Gerda making Bianca nod.
„Sure, but you will receive your next allowance on Sunday like everyone else for your information,"
„That's okay," Answerd Gerda.
„What's on Saturday?" Asked Kai making Bianca chuckle.
„You two have to wait for that next year, when you get the chance to," Answered Bianca.
„It's according to Rose an evening, where all the older teens reunite to have fun, eat, dance, and so on," Answered Gerda making Kai nod.
„I will see if I can catch out the cook yet and ask him if he's able to prepare two extra dishes. I'll be right back, Gerda can show you more about our home if you're interested," Said Bianca leaving the room, then Gerda sat down on the bed vice versa to her friends.
„You two probably have a lot to talk about" Stated Gerda making the two teens shrug.
„Well…."
„I don't know…..
„Maybe,"
Both mumbled mixed up making Gerda chuckle. „Come, you don't need to tell all details, maybe…..how you two got here,"
„Funny story, we initially planned to get a flight with an airplate?" Questioned Alfida making Kai shrug his shoulders. „Anyway we both decided to go do little jobs to make money for this flight and one of these guys, I had spent the entire day to make his work didn't want to pay me, made me angry and I stole his money. Unluckily he send a guard behind us and Orm helped us escape from there, so we wouldn't land in jail. We traveled throught Sweden, Denmark, and Germany I think, then accidentally landed by one mishap in the Netherlands. There we met a few people and there was this one guy, that somehow tried to poison me and ended up poisoning himself and Kai. I don't know what kind of poison that was, this made Kai go all…..strange," Said Alfida while Kai felt embarrassed at listening to that part of the story.
„Really?" Asked Gerda shocked making Kai nod.
„I ran around half-naked thinking I would run faster apparently. This is the strangest story I have ever heard and sadly this was the truth,"
„Then we got here in France and were arrested by the police, which promised to help us, but they somehow weren't quite helpful and I don't know what happened. According to Kai, I turned into some odd super pirate or something. I'm not even sure if that makes any sense,"
„Wait you meant akumatized, right?" Questioned Gerda making Alfida shrug her shoulders.
„I don't know, but we met two heroes, that call themselves Ladybug and Cat Noir,"
„Then you might have been akumatized. According to them, you don't remember the time you're akumatized, just before it happened,"
„I don't know what I've done before. I was angry at the guard and after that, I know nothing more,"
„Well, we can talk about that another day. You two probably need to eat and rest, right?" Asked Gerda making the two nod. „Bianca hasn't told you two, where you would sleep, right?"
„No," Responded the two friends.
„Okay, we should take a break for now. We have plenty of time to get to know what happened the past weeks," Offered Gerda making Kai nod.
„When will we join your school?" Asked Kai making Gerda shrug her shoulders.
„Probably next week. There's quite a lot of stuff you have to take care of with Bianca and Madame Livre. I haven't even received my identification card yet I had to make before getting here,"
„What's that?" Asked Alfida.
„I think it's for people to know who you are and where you belong," Answered Gerda. „Most of us here will receive new last names when there's no info to our biological parents,"
„Okay,"
„I don't even have one," Commented Alfida making Gerda chuckle.
„You'll get one then," Mentioned Gerda making Alfida nod.
„It better not be something more ridiculous than this shirt here," Complained Alfida making the siblings laugh.
Bianca returned, then glimpsed into the bedroom.
„Kai, Alfida, I'd like to show you the bedroom you'll be sleeping in in the future. Kai will share the room with Jorge from the kids level as it's the only room for boys to be free and Alfida will be sharing a room with Carmen," Said Bianca making Alfida and Kai nod.
„Who's Carmen?" Questioned Alfida.
„She's the oldest in our group. If you want I can ask if we can be together in one room," Suggested Gerda.
„You can do that if you want as long as we can discuss it with me or Madame Libre," Said Bianca making the girls nod. „Good now follow me,"
„I'll be going down later," Mentioned Gerda watching the trio leave, then Gerda looked at the smartphone to see a message from Rose, then she opened it to see it.
„I heard from Juleka, that Rollan asked you out on the prom! Is that true?" Questioned Rose making Gerda chuckle, then open the keyboard and see the emojis button on the side, then opened it. She found a heart and sent her friend one. Rose replied with a screaming gif making Gerda laugh. Gerda pressed the calling option, then Rose attended it.
„Why didn't you tell me that before?"
„I'm sorry Rose. I didn't want you to shout out in front of everyone there,"
„But how come Luka and Juleka know?" Asked Rose. „Did Rollan tell?"
„I assume. He and Luka are friends, right?"
„Yes they are," Commented Rose. „Have you already picked what you want for the prom night?"
„No, I planned to go on Friday after school"
„Great, do you need help in picking up the clothing?"
„I'm not sure, but I heard Juleka was a good hair expert, right?" Asked Gerda making Rose squeak.
„We will help you out Gerda, you'll be looking so stunning, Rollan will spend the entire night crawling behind you," Rose promised making Gerda laugh.
„Calm down, Rose. I just want something simple. Something different from the daily dose,"
„We'll find something, don't worry about it," Promised Rose making Gerda chuckle.
„You're the best, thank you!"
