Chapter 37
On Saturday morning Alya had agreed on passing by Marinette's house again to chat about the guardian duties and other topics related to their lives.
„Tonight I should receive the miraculous back fixed, said Su-Han,"
„So there's a chance you'll be able to work with us again?" Asked the Martinic girl making Marinette nod.
„Yes and as I see nothing had happened since I was akumatized,"
„Yes, we were lucky," Commented Alya watching Marinette look up at her akuma poster to look at images she had recently added. „Have you heard anything of Nathaniel?" Asked Alya looking up at his akuma villain, then Marinette shook her head.
„He was this morning in our class, wasn't he?"
„Yes, but anything else?"
„Nope," Responded Marinette. „But he was really absent during the lessons. He should have probably stayed back home,"
„I don't know. I didn't want to tell you this, cause it felt unnecessary, but I still will. A few days ago I and Cat Noir were on patrol and we came across Fire King, who had just admitted to us he had confessed his feelings to Lady Frost, but was rejected by her,"
„And?" Asked Marinette curious.
„He was sad obviously. Cat Noir tried to talk to him about how he should get over it and accept it. Then throughout the talk Fire King had this crazy idea, that he should reveal his identity to Lady Frost thinking she has a crush on his civilian self and you know we had to avoid this to happen or to go it the wrong way so the first thing that came into my mind was to create an illusion of Lady Frost flirting with another guy and my first thought was Nathaniel,"
„And what?" Asked Marinette. „Did you fail with your illusion?"
„No, Fire King had bought that illusion, but…..Cat Noir figured out shortly, that his civilian self knew who Nathaniel was and that he's…..eventually coming to the conclusion, that he was tricked or I don't know, because of this I could provoke a fight between the two or lead one of them into being akumatized,"
„Alright, your deed was a bad idea. I know it was to prevent for Fire King to commit a bigger mistake, than the one he did before, but as you see it wasn't a good one either. In a scenario of identity defense or anything, that isn't used purposely on a specific person, you should never use a known civilian, whether you know him or not"
„Alright, I make it better next time," Mentioned Alya taking her glasses down to take a look at them, then used her blouse to clean one lens. „I haven't seen any of the two the past two days, I thought about talking to Lady Frost about what was up or just wonder, if she and Fire King are still on good terms,"
„Okay and if for some reason if that's the case Fire King brings up what he saw or comments with Lady Frost, what he saw tell the truth or if you prefer to be on the safe side, tell her what you have done and discuss together, what's up next,"
„I will make it up for you," Promise Alya holding out her hand for Marinette to grab it.
On Marinette's computer screen showed up the invitation of the prom, which was posted by the school blog advertising for the last time the upcoming prom night from the Françoise Dupont school.
„Today is the big night girl, have you picked up already what you want to wear tonight?" Asked Alya making Marinette shake her head.
„I'm not coming tonight," Responded Marinette. „I'm expecting to see Su-Han passing by with the miraculous and some strange letter we wanted me to see,"
„Okay, that sounds important," Commented Alya making Marinette shrug her shoulders.
„I'm quite curious to know, what's all about,"
„I believe you," Commented Alya making Marinette nod. „You know what? I stay here with you, that evening,"
„No, no, no! You don't have to leave Nino alone tonight. You were happy the past few weeks to be able to go there with him, I don't want you to miss that,"
„It's no deal for me. Nino's going to spend the first hour playing the DJ anyway. I won't miss too much at the start,"
„Doesn't matter. It's the prom this night, just go out tonight and have fun, I'll be good," Said the blue-haired girl. „I promise if there is something I call you, deal?"
„Of course" Agreed Alya giving her best friend a quick high five.
Alfida stood in the refectory with a phone number book looking through a page to look for the number of s certain place from Norway and encountered several names similar to the other, then she took a closer look at them and recognized two of them.
"Ah Björgman Hans, Björgman Marco, Björgman Inc., Björgman Anastasia. There are four people with that name, but seven numbers," Commented Alfida, then she looked around the area to see the teenager Carmen polishing the cutlery she had to store away.
"Carmen, can I ask you something?" Asked Alfida earning a nod from the girl which made her way towards the raven-haired girl which turned the book towards the teenager. "Why are there so many numbers on Björgmans?"
"Yes, Bianca and I haven't been able to explain to you all the little details of this new age. Many of these phone numbers here, which start with 9 are from smartphones, you know the ones that you saw without any cable attached to them. The other ones are for cabled phones like this one here,"
"Okay, I want to call this guy here Marco or Hans because both are the new owners of the kingdom we were before with a friend of ours Orm,"
"Hmm, I could look on the internet if Björgman Inc is what you have to call to or not," Mentioned the Latina taking out her smartphone to search for the address.
"Is it this building here?" Asked Carmen showing Alfida the page making the orphan shake her head.
"No it looks like a castle," Explained Alfida. "You know, what I just try to call this Marco here and see where I get to," Stated Alfida, then Carmen glimpsed through the book as Alfida tried to call one of the first numbers which were for mobile.
"Hello, this is Alfida, am I talking to Marco Björgman, which has the troll kingdom under the name?"
"Yes, that's me. You must be that girl that left along with the younger boy to go to Paris?"
"Yeah, I was hoping to be able to talk to Orm,"
"Sure, but at the moment I'm away from the kingdom. Have you found this phone number on the internet?"
"No on the phone number book. There's another one starting with a 4,"
"If it ends with 354 it's the right one direct to the castle. You'll be attended to by someone from the office, but she will redirect you to your friends. I will call her as well and warn her about your call to make sure you're not ignored or anything,"
"That would be great," Answered Alfida.
Several minutes later Alfida had been redirected by the office workers to the castle of the trolls and she was attended by Orm personally.
"Hello? Alfida?"
"Hey, Orm! Great to hear your voice again,"
"Hey Alfida. Great to know you're okay, I've been starting to get worried about Kai and you. I haven't heard anything yet snd was fearing that something had happened,"
"We're good Orm. Look we finally found Gerda today at a school and we got the chance to live in the same orphanage as her,"
"Thank goodness. How is Gerda doing? Does she miss us?"
"She missed us all. But now she's happier, mostly to know that we're all okay,"
"Sweet, and is she around, or is she away?"
"She's helping another orphan to prepare something for the evening I think. I might see her for lunch first,"
"Alright, tell her if she's interested we can phone with each other, and see how we're doing,"
"I will don't worry...How is it there in the kingdom? Anything new?" Questioned the former pirate girl.
"Next Monday there will come a sort of animal community that is planning to take a look in the entire kingdom. They want to make sure there is no animal cruelty or any other barbarous thing going on in here. Marco Björgman and eventually Hans Björgman will need to be present during the first reunion there,"
"Okay, I hope everything will be fine there,"
"We will see. We have nothing against the Björgmans, but I think it's something because of some laws and they want to see if everything is okay,"
"Okay, we will chat about that next time, or maybe you'll be lucky and have Gerda or Kai in this conversation,"
"Sure and what happened to Rollan? Is he there too?"
"I don't know, I think he belongs to another orphanage now or is living on his own. I haven't been able to speak to him yet,"
"Have you spoke to Gerda about what happened in the past or not?"
"Not yet. I'm waiting for a little while until we get all three to be together. Or four,"
"Has Rollan been treating Gerda well?"
"So far I know good. They didn't have seen each other so much as Kai had imagined," Stated Alfida making Orm chuckle.
"He never made a bad impression on me the many times I've been around with him, just after that incident with the wishing stone it made me have my doubts,"
"Don't worry if he dares to hurt her I will personally hang him off," Promised Alfida with a chuckle.
Gerda was storing plates on a small cart, while the youth home mate Carmen was folding serviettes into a flower shape. Gerda hummed a song, while the Latina moved her foot to the melodia, then she stared back at the blonde.
„You're ready for tonight?" Asked Carmen watching Gerda shake her head.
„After lunch, I will meet Rose and Juleka. They want to help me to get ready for the prom tonight," Commented Gerda. „I don't know what their plan is, but they want to make sure I look good. Mostly I thought it would be good because they're from this timeline and can help me pick the right clothing,"
„The girls that went with you yesterday to the shop for clothes, right?" Questioned Carmen making the blonde nod.
„Yes, according to Rose, Juleka has more or less an idea, what she can start with that clothing combination," Explained Gerda. „I think they will paint my nails as well,"
„You'll need to take a picture of yourself before and afterward. We planned to do this with our classmates," Stated Carmen. „It will be cool, trust me,"
„Okay, I'm more interested in knowing how the evening will go,"
„Just be yourself, Gerda. Go along with the music and don't force you or him into something none of you want,"
„Yes. I've been following my instinct and it may sound funny to you. I had a simple conversation with him and when he mentioned the prom night I commented, that I was expecting a certain guy to ask me out for tonight and he got it, that I meant him….or I believe it was that way,"
„You know some boys are blind when it comes to love. He sounds according to you quite smart on that topic,"
„I really made it clear in a way. That one evening he brought me home I kissed him without leaving a comment and he stood there dumbfounded," Mentioned Gerda making the girl chuckle. „You had to see his face, it was precious,"
„Aww cute. You'll see it will go just fine, who knows maybe tonight you two will get closer than you're already are," Pointed Carmen out making Gerda giggle softly.
„I can't wait for that," Commented Gerda taking out the last plate to see her reflection on the porcelain.
