While Finn was washing his hands after he took a piss at the indoor toilets, he laughed about a video clip he was watching on his brand-new iPhone. Yes, Kurt had told him to hurry, but he couldn't care less. That prank was just too funny to pass on.
Thanks to him being distracted, he didn't notice the hellhound standing behind him that was looking at him, lust to kill was written all over the beast's face.
…
Without thinking twice, Kurt turned on his heel and started running back into the building, scepter in hand.
"Kurt, wait!", Blaine shouted after him "That's way too dangerous!"
"No", Kurt answered him back, halting in his tracks and looking at the demon. "For Finn, it's dangerous. I won't allow that Sebastian's pet lays a finger on him." With that, he turned on his heel and stormed inside.
"Kurt, that's insane! Kurt!" But he was already gone. Cursing under his breath, Blaine hopped down the bleachers and followed him.
Quinn also turned to the others with her hands on her hips. "I don't know about you guys, but I will go search for him as well. After all, he is my boyfriend. Are you guys coming as well?"
Puck and Sam nodded. "Sure thing. Finn is our bro, we don't want him to die yet", Puck answered with a smirk.
"Yes, Finn was always so nice to me", Brittany agreed with a smile. "I will help you."
Mike threw Tina a pleading glance who just sighed resignedly. "If you want to help that pathetic human, just go on", she commented and rolled her eyes. "Sometimes, I don't understand why you don't want to stick to our kind."
"You are friends with that cripple-seer as well", Mercedes pointed out with quirked eyebrows.
"That's not the same!", the female vampire barked and turned back to Mike again. "What are you waiting for? Go save that human before I change my mind."
So Mike quickly followed Sam, Puck, Quinn, Brittany, and Rachel without looking back.
Meanwhile, Sebastian yawned loudly and checked his watch. "By now, I could have partied with Abercrombie-models at a cocktail party in Aspen", he complained.
Tina and Mercedes exchanged glances before they came over to the demon with balled fists. "What about that, demon", the amazon suggested with narrowed eyes "You either come help us find Finn, or we are going to kick your ass."
"It's your choice", the female vampire added with a malicious spark in her eyes. "It's your choice."
But Sebastian just threw them unimpressed glances. "Do you really think I'm afraid of a chubby, black Wonder Woman rip-off and an Asian weakling-version of Bella Cullen?"
The girls glared at him angrily. "You shouldn't have said that, demon", Mercedes hissed belligerently, her eyes started glowing white, and the breeze got a lot stronger.
Tina cracked her knuckles. "I hope you have insurance because we are going to kick your ass so hard you will beg for mercy, you little piece of shit."
…
Kurt panickily looked around in the hallways. Okay, the school building had exactly four toilets for guys. He had already checked the one of the first floor, but it had been empty. What if Finn already left? For the hundredth time, Kurt retrieved his phone and dialed his number, but to no avail; Finn didn't pick up.
Wait…did he just hear something down the hallway? Kurt rushed to the direction the noise came from, determined to save his stepbrother.
…
"Holy shit!" Finn spotted the reflection of the hellhound on the mirror and turned around, shuddering when he saw the beast stand in front of him. His eyes widened. What the...?
When he saw the hellhound lunge at him, he ducked down, and the firewolf crashed against the mirror. Finn quickly got up and ran out of the bathroom, wondering what the hell he had just seen. Since when was it possible that wolves were covered in fire? Since when were wolves that big? Was he dreaming?
At that moment, the firewolf caught up with him, and Finn looked at him, terrified, when it pushed him to the ground and knocked him out.
The firewolf was about to lunge at the boy to maul him when it heard someone else call out: "Hey!" Kurt stared at him angrily. "Leave him alone!" The beast turned to him, staring at him with its fire-glowing eyes, and that's when Kurt realized he had no idea what to do. Nevertheless, he threateningly pointed at the monster with the scepter. "You don't want me to attack you, right? Let's solve this peacefully, okay?"
How the hell did he attack these beasts ten minutes ago? Whether he could do it again?
"Kurt!", someone behind him suddenly called out. Kurt stiffened a bit when he recognized that voice.
"How was your kiss with Sebastian?", he hissed at Blaine without even turning around. "Did you enjoy sticking your tongue down his throat?"
Blaine cocked his bushy eyebrows. "You are aware that he kissed me, and not the other way around, right?" He wondered where all the jealousy suddenly came from. After all, he and Sebastian had broken up long ago.
"Whatever" Kurt nodded to the firewolf that came closer to him. "I've got other problems at the moment, so let's just postpone that conversation." When he was about to go towards that beast, Blaine gripped his arm.
"I won't allow you fight against Sebastian's hellhound", he said firmly "You could get hurt."
At that, Kurt just let out a scoff. "So now that you are done making out with Sebastian, you care about me?"
"Kurt…"
"Finn needs help. He passed out, maybe, he has a concussion or something. We need to get him to hospital as soon as possible, and as long as that thing is blocking my way, I can't do anything." Kurt ripped his arm away and determinedly ran to the monster.
Blaine's eyes widened. "Kurt, no!"
But the firewolf had already lunged at him. Kurt instinctively threw his hands up to protect himself from the attack – and suddenly, the beast was thrown back by an invisible force.
Surprised, Kurt turned to the demon prince who just lifted his hands defensively. "That wasn't me", he answered.
"But…" Kurt looked down his hands, stunned. "How…?
Blaine looked at the zombie, deep in thoughts. Didn't the same thing happen when Kurt touched Mercedes' scepter? As soon as he had held her weapon in his hands, he was able to use her aerokinetic powers and fight with an Amazon's weapon. And now that he had touched the zombie, he suddenly was able to use his telekinetic powers?
What if…?
"Guys!"
When the two of them turned around, a familiar group of teenaged monsters came rushing over to them.
Quinn worriedly looked over to Finn who was still lying on the ground, unconscious. "Is he okay?", she asked.
Kurt shrugged helplessly when he glanced over to him as well. "Let's hope so." Perplexed, he looked around. "Has anyone seen Sebastian?"
At that, Mercedes and Tina exchanged knowing glances. "Well…we kind of kicked his ass", the female vampire confessed.
"Yeah, he was a pain in the neck, and he didn't want to help us find Finn", Mercedes added. "After we wiped the floor with him, he cursed at us a couple of times, telling us he would destroy us all once he has taken over the world... you know, the usual demon stuff. Yeah, and then, he got lost."
For a while, Kurt was just staring at the girls – until he started grinning. "Awesome!", he praised them and high-fived with the amazon and the vampire, purposely ignoring Blaine who was staring at him. "But next time, tell me so that we can wipe the floor with him together."
"Will do, white boy", Mercedes promised with a perfidious smirk.
…
When Finn opened his eyes, he noticed that he was lying in a hospital bed.
"W…What happened?", he asked, his voice sounded raspy. Surprised, he looked in the round. What were all his friends and schoolmates doing here?
Kurt scratched his head. "Well…you fell and bumped your head after your football training. We found you and brought you to hospital."
Weird. He couldn't remember having fallen. Wait… There was something else he remembered.
"There…there was a giant monster that was covered in…in fire!", he exclaimed and abruptly sat up. "That thing attacked me, and I ran away, but it caught up with me and…"
Finn was surprised when everyone in the room started laughing.
"A monster covered in fire?", Sam repeated incredulously. "Like in Supernatural? Are you sure you didn't just bump your head? And confused real life with a TV-series?"
"Please stay realistic, baby", Quinn added softly and caressed his forehead. "You probably didn't get enough sleep. You need to rest. How about you-"
"But I'm telling the truth!", Finn cut her off, suddenly upset. "You guys need to believe me! I know exactly what I have seen!"
"Delirium?", Blaine theorized. "Maybe you were already dreaming."
"No! Why don't you guys believe me? I'm not lying, I'm telling the truth, god dammit!"
Did Finn just imagine the glances his friends exchanged? Or was his concussion to blame?
Kurt retrieved his phone and handed it to Finn. "I promised Carole and dad to let them know when you came to. How about you call them and tell them you are fine, I'm sure they will be relieved."
"But…"
"We are gonna give you some privacy, man", Puck suggested, and started to back away with the others. "Take yourself time."
"Hey, you can't just…" But they had already left the room.
As soon as Rachel had closed the door behind her, Tina blurted out: "He knows. And what are we going to do now? How are we going to silence him?"
Santana shrugged. "How about we suffocate him with his pillow after he fell asleep?"
At that, Kurt threw her a horrified glance. "You cannot be serious, right? Do you always have to kill humans that uncover your secrets?" When everyone stayed silent, he looked in the round sternly. "Okay, to everybody who never killed anyone, put your hand up."
Much to his surprise, he, Sam, Brittany, and Puck were the only ones that did so, and Kurt gasped for air. "Seriously, guys? You are all murderers?"
"Hey, don't look at me like that", Blaine said, lifting his hands in surrender. "I'm a demon, I'm rotten to the core."
"So am I", Santana commented with a shrug.
"Whenever I feed from humans, us vampires accidently kill them once in a while", Tina mentioned, and Mike nodded in agreement.
"Sirens are notorious for luring fishermen to death", Rachel pointed out.
"And I'm a warrior princess, so that's practically my vocation", Mercedes defended herself.
At that, Sam's eyes lit up. "You are the princess of Themyscira?", he asked with sparkling eyes. "That's so cool!"
Mercedes blushed a little and rubbed her neck. "Thanks, Sam."
"Guys!", Kurt said loudly to get everyone's attention again. "This is serious. We are not going to kill anyone, okay? Whenever Finn asks us about the firewolf, we are just going to deny everything, no matter what. After some time, he will think he just imagined things, and everything is forgotten."
Blaine threw him a skeptical glance. "Do you really think so?"
At that, Kurt just laughed. "Oh, I do. Finn has the memory of a fly. We don't need to worry about him, believe me."
…
After the phone call with his mom and his stepdad, Finn pensively looked up the wall. He knew exactly what he had seen, for god's sake! He would never forget the burning eyes of that creature, and how fast his heart had beaten when he thought he was going to get killed.
No, that memory was way too realistic and vivid to be a dream. He knew it was real, he just knew it.
But on the other hand…Creatures like these didn't exist. After all, this was real life, not some creepy supernatural TV-series, Sam was right. Wolves that were covered in fire and twice his size just didn't exist-just couldn't exist. That would be crazy.
He leaned back on the pillow again – and hissed when he suddenly felt something sting. Furrowing his eyebrows, Finn lifted up the hospital gown and was surprised about the scratch on his stomach. What was that?
When did that happen? How did that happen? And why did that scratch kind of look weird?
Suddenly, Finn wasn't so sure anymore whether he just imagined things. He was going to look into that matter and find out what really happened this afternoon, whether his friends liked it or not.
