Limit: Part Four: Upendi
A couple of minutes after Uncle Remus vanished into thin air, Sky noticed his Wayfinder was not working properly. "It's not leading me to anywhere now. Something is not right." said Sky.
"That's because we are so far from your friend. You and I are in a world that has been locked away. I don't know why, but to get out of this world, we have to travel to a world that is heavily connected to the spiritual realms." said Vanitas.
"Do you know which world to go to?" asked Sky.
"What is the closest world we can travel to, according to your light portals? I understand you can only travel to worlds that are either next door to each other or something like that." said Vanitas.
Sky closed his eyes and imagined the world map. He could only see one world that was close enough to travel. The Pride Lands.
"There. The world where the animals roam." said Sky.
"The Pride Lands. Well, we can travel there." said Vanitas.
"You're willing to go with me?" asked Sky.
"I have no choice. For some strange reason, my wings have become weaker. Something must have happened." said Vanitas.
"Well, then we have no time to lose." said Sky.
"Ever the optimist?" said Vanitas.
"I don't want to make this trip any more hard. Let's work together to go back home." said Sky.
"For you. But what of me?" asked Vanitas.
"Look, the sooner we leave this world and do some world jumping, we can get out easily." said Sky.
Vanitas rolled his eyes. "You're made of light. Why can't you do like that old man did? You know, vanish with flower petals and all that?" said Vanitas.
Sky chuckled and opened the portal.
…
"We are here. Now let's go to the next world." said Vanitas, just as he stepped into the savannah of the Pride Lands.
Sky shook his head. "I got good news and bad news. For some reason, my Wayfinder doesn't look so good. It's blinking, almost as if it were running out of batteries. And also, I use too much of my strength opening portals. We need to rest a while, then I can open a new one." said Sky.
"Damn it." said Vanitas.
"You can open dark corridors. Why can't you do that?" asked Sky.
"You don't think I tried back there with the old man? I tried to open a portal for myself to escape after he summoned his Keyblade. I thought for sure he was going to destroy me." said Vanitas.
"Uncle Remus looked like a nice old man to me." said Sky.
"His light could have destroyed my being." said Vanitas.
"Geez man. You have this sense of impending doom. It's not healthy." said Sky.
"My name means emptiness in latin. Of course I act like I have a sense of impending doom coming over." said Vanitas.
"So this makes you into a goth boy." said Sky with a smirk.
"You little- Yes. I am gothic. But in a glamorous sort of way." said Vanitas.
"When did we start to speak in such corny dialogue?" asked Sky.
Vanitas rolled his eyes. "I think we are getting too close for comfort."
A couple of minutes passed by, and Sky was looking as if he was going to drift off to sleep. "Are you sure it's a good idea to stay here in the open like that? What if a lion comes up?" asked Sky.
"Don't ask me. You're the one with the droopy eyes. And besides, I'm keeping watch. For some reason, I see no fighting whatsoever." said Vanitas.
Just then, rain started to pour on the land. "What on Earth?" asked Sky.
"Just what we needed. Rain." said Vanitas.
"Well, let's look for a dry place then. Let's go." said Sky.
Vanitas agreed and both he and Sky ran into the savannah, which probably was not a good idea considering the amount of danger they were in. They were both exposed. And any predator might pounce on them for dinner. As they both ran, they then stumbled across a hill, and a large tree with a big tree branch that shaded both Vanitas and Sky. They both got under it and they were staying there as the rain grew heavier.
"What is up with this weather?" asked Sky.
Vanitas turned to the corner of his eye and smiled. "I think we're about to see some action in this boring world."
"What do you mean?" asked Sky.
"Do you see them? The lions? On both sides?" Vanitas was saying. Sky rolled his eyes at Vanitas, who was treating him as if he had no clue, until he managed to see two armies coming together. Armies made out of lions.
"What is going on…." said Sky.
"I think we're about to find out." said Vanitas.
Sky looked at both armies and noticed a familiar face leading the lions that looked stronger and healthier. He saw Simba, the King of the Pride Lands, leading his army. Simba was one of his father's close friends, according to Jiminy's Journals.
On the other side were skinny and starving looking lions, led by a lioness that made Sky think of Vanitas instantly. She had those piercing yellow eyes and a toothy grin as the rain made her fur all wet and muddy. As the armies got closer, several animals in the land escaped and Simba stood his ground. Next to him were his buddies, Timon and Pumbaa. They then taunted the lioness, by shaking their tails at her.
The lioness ignored them, for her attention was on Simba himself.
"IT'S OVER SIMBA! I DREAMED NOTHING ELSE FOR YEARS!" she screamed.
"Boy, does she need a hobby." said Timon to Pumbaa in a whisper. Even Vanitas chuckled at that remark.
"This is your last chance Zira. Go home." said Simba.
"Zira" smiled wickedly. "I am home. ATTACK!" she cried.
In a matter of seconds, a massive battle took place. The lions began to attack each other with scratches, bites and roars. Zira barked commands at her army while Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa and the rest of the cavalry were fighting hard for their home.
"We've got to do something!" cried Sky.
"And do what? Get eaten? That Lioness looks pretty tough. You get near her, she will gut you and rip you apart." said Vanitas.
"But Simba is down there!" cried Sky.
"And so are his friends. They are in it together. He has enough help as is. Don't complicate things." said Vanitas.
Just then, they heard two roars. Simba and Zira were about to fight, one on one. But they were both interrupted by two newcomers to the brawl.
"Kiara?!" cried Simba, looking at his daughter who came to stop the fight.
"Kovu! Move." Zira was saying at the strong looking male lion next to Kiara.
"Stay out of this!" cried Simba.
"Daddy, this has to stop." said Kiara firmly.
"What the heck…" Sky was saying. Vanitas shook his head. "I think the party is over." he said.
"You are even weaker than I thought!" cried Zira.
"You won't lay a finger on Kiara. Or Simba! Not while I'm here!" cried Kovu. Zira sneered at Kovu while Kiara spoke out loud.
"A wise king once told me, "we are one." I didn't understand him at first. But now I do." said Kiara.
"But… they…" Simba was saying.
"Them. Us. Look at them. They are us. What difference do you see?" asked Kiara.
Simba and the others looked at each other and Simba embraced his brave daughter.
"Vitani, now!" cried Zira.
"No mother. She's right. Enough." said Vitani, Zira's daughter.
Zira's army hesitated until Zira spoke some chilling words. "If you won't fight, then you will die as well."
Saying those awful words to her daughter made her own army get away from her and stand by Simba's side.
"Where are you going!? Get back here!" cried Zira.
"Enough Zira! It's time to put the past behind us." said Simba.
"I'll never let it go!" cried Zira.
She then pounced into the air, ready to kill Simba, until Kiara pushed her out of the way and they both fell to the other side of a large water bed.
As both Kiara and Zira were both plummeting down, Zira was holding on to the rocks. Kiara managed to get her footing and tried to help Zira.
"Zira! Lend me your paw!" cried Kiara.
Zira, instead of accepting help, tried to strike Kiara with her claws! And to make matters even worse, the river bed was overflowing with water!
"Zira! I'll help you!" cried Kiara.
Zira looked up at Kiara and smiled wickedly. "No. Never." she whispered in a very chilling voice. She then let go and fell into the river.
Kiara let out a sigh until Simba came to her rescue. "Daddy, I tried." she said. Simba and Kiara then got back at the top and reunited with their loved ones.
"What did we just watch?" asked Sky.
"We saw an epic battle take place, only to have it ruined by a family friendly intervention," said Vanitas.
"Are you sure? We don't know what happened when Kiara and Zira fell." said Sky.
"Look, the day is saved. I thought you would be happy with this sort of thing." said Vanitas.
Sky didn't say a word and stood up. "I think we can leave this world now."
Vanitas shook his head. "I still feel weak. I don't know why I can't open another damn portal."
Sky used his wayfinder once again, to see if he could open a new door. But like before, nothing worked.
"Why is this happening?" thought Sky.
"Perhaps your with me. You followed your friend because he was by my side the whole time." said Vanitas.
"But that's impossible. Our wayfinders are connected with the hearts of our friends." said Sky.
"Really? Then let's do a little test. I'll fly somewhere else, and try to see if you can reach me." said Vanitas.
He flew up into the sky and left. Sky on the other hand noticed his wayfinder was starting to blink. Sky used his powers to open a door and it worked. Sky let out a huge sigh of relief and went through. But when he did…..
"I knew it. So it was linked to me after all." said Vanitas.
"This whole time I was following you? And not Axel? This does not make sense." said Sky. They were both inside a depressing and unpleasant cave with oozing mud and strange green smoke.
"Who gave you the wayfinder?" asked Vanitas.
"My father made them for me, Axel and Emily, another friend of mine. He told us he worked a little magic on them." said Sky.
"So Sora made them? Figures." said Vanitas.
"What?" asked Sky.
"I know why it was leading you to me. I'm the image of your father. The wayfinder may have been trying to lead you back home this whole time, thinking I was Sora." said Vanitas.
Sky shook his head. "I don't believe that. This leads me to the person I want to look for." said Sky.
"Apparently, Axel wasn't the only one you were looking for. I was also on your list of lost items." said Vanitas.
"This is ridiculous." said Sky.
"Kid, the whole universe is ridiculous. Our existence, the worlds being apart, Kingdom Hearts itself, the Keyblade. We all live in such a confusing universe, it's hard to figure things out." said Vanitas.
"Well… if it was my heart's desire to find you and Axel, perhaps I can wish for something else. Perhaps we can go to a world I want for once. If I wish it." said Sky.
"And where will we go?" asked Vanitas.
"I was thinking back in Radiant Garden or back in Twilight Town to catch up with the others." said Sky.
"What about the Forbidden Mountain? Riku is planning to attack the fortress. It may be happening as we speak." said Vanitas.
"Oh yeah! We can try!" cried Sky.
He closed his eyes and wished to go there. In his mind of course. He put his hand out in the open and a door appeared.
"It worked. Nicely done." said Vanitas.
"Let's go!" cried Sky.
"Hold on. When we arrive, what is it you plan to do?" asked Vanitas.
"Join the fight against the darkness." replied Sky.
"You realize I'm part of the dark forces." said Vanitas.
"What do you care? You don't want Maleficent to win." said Sky.
"Right, but what if I have the gall to betray you?" asked Vanitas.
"If you do, we'll battle." said Sky with an optimistic attitude.
"Are you for real?" asked Vanitas.
"Yep." replied Sky.
"You are one crazy guardian of light. I give you that." said Vanitas.
