Limit: Part Seven: Chosen One

Vanitas watched as the three good fairies disappeared and he sat on a large rock, processing what he just learned. Darkness was a living entity. Well, honestly, this was something he knew all too well. Darkness was alive. But so was light. If Light was powerful and a force of good, how come it's heroes are to be kept away from this? Sure, the parental affections of the guardians may get in the way, but this is war. War between light and darkness. It was a never ending battle that started since the beginning of time itself.

Vanitas knew a little bit of history. He learned from Xehanort in the past how Keyblade Wielders protected the world from the ever growing darkness. But despite the unity and "love" they had for good, they fought a ferocious war that destroyed their world. And because of that, the children who died had their hearts created new worlds, separated from one another.

The darkness did NOT see that coming. Light survived the fight and it kept fighting. And darkness lost many times throughout time. The war between Xehanort and his brother Eraqus, the fight between Sora, Donald and Goofy against Ansem, seeker of Darkness, the battle against Organization 13 and Xehanort's revival. So many times Darkness tried to fight, but failed. Was the Horned King and Chernabog born from that darkness? Were they created by the forces of evil?

In all honesty, only Vanitas knew the answer. He was in darkness too. Darkness isn't one living being. It's a multitude of people that worship it, that manifest it into power. Maleficent is darkness. Jafar is darkness. Ursula is darkness. Hades. The Horned King. Chernabog. All of them were darkness, including Vanitas.

And the question was this…. "Why is Vanitas caring for the boy?

"I know everything." whispered Sky.

Vanitas turned to see Sky rising up. "I woke up when I heard them talk. I heard everything." said Sky.

"Then you know what you are going to do. You're going to fight the Horned King and Chernabog one day. Not now. Not tomorrow. But someday." said Vanitas.

Sky smiled at Vanitas. "I can take them on." he said.

Vanitas shook his head. "You don't know what they are capable of. They are evil incarnate." said Vanitas.

"I know. But as long as you're with me, everything will be fine." said Sky.

"You seriously trust me?" asked Vanitas.

"You cared for me when you spoke to the fairies. It sounded like you didn't want me to fight." said Sky.

"You're right. I don't want you to fight Chernabog, or the Horned King. I won't let that happen. Not while I'm standing." said Vanitas.

Sky got up and stretched. "So, when will training begin?" asked Sky.

"Seriously? You want to be trained? Sky, I think I need to put you someplace safe. And I know where." said Vanitas.

"Don't tell my family. You heard the fairies." said Sky.

"I don't care. Your family is strong. They have to know. Besides, don't you want to go see Axel how he's doing? Or your other friends? We left them in a pretty bad place back in Twilight Town." said Vanitas.

"Okay. But don't tell anyone about the prophecy." said Sky.

"Why? There's nothing wrong with them knowing." said Vanitas.

"My Dad will just lock me in Destiny Islands and I won't be able to help fight the good fight," said Sky.

Just then, they heard an explosion. A massive explosion from afar.

"What is going on?" asked Sky.

"Riku! He's here and he's at the forbidden mountain." said Vanitas.

"We have to help them!" cried Sky.

Vanitas shook his head. "The Horned King is there."

"He is?" cried Sky.

"Not physically. A holographic version of him at least. But if that creep sees you, he might do something." said Vanitas.

"You'll be there for me, won't you?" asked Sky.

Vanitas rolled his eyes. "Fine. We'll go fight. And if I see your Dad there, you are going back to him. Got it?"

Sky ran up to Vanitas and hugged him. "Geez kid. Seriously?"
