For more than a Sixty Million Years Gork and Mork have watched and took joy in the antics and battles of their Boyz. The Orkz are Masters of the battlefield by the Will of their shared beliefs and Conquerors of Millions of Worlds by the might of their inexhaustible armies. They are the laughing and feasting Boyz dancing on the rotting carcasses of other races. Using Technology not even they understand, they are the Lords of War and Destruction, for whom millions of souls die every day, for whom blood is spilt and flesh is broken.
Everybody's blood and Everybody's flesh, the stuff of which a WAAAAGH is made.
To be alive in such times is to be one amongst untold trillions and trillions. It is to live in the greatest and most bloody times imaginable; this is a tale of one of those times.
Codt the Pain Boy gave a satisfied grunt as he finished sewing the leg back on the Ork Boy he had been working on. He then said, "Triez it out now."
The Ork Boy stood up and swing off the sewing table taking a few wobbly steps. He then turned around and walked back over to Codt and said, "Feelz fine Doc, especially now that Iz haz one left and one right foot insteada three left."
The Ork Boy turned again and tried to walk away but Codt grabbed him by the arm and said, "Youse knowz I can still take off youse legz and getz youse sum metal onez liken da Unda Boss Lytnog has."
The Ork Boy did answer while he just shook off Codt's hand and moved away as fast as his new legs would take him. He said, "Iz am good wid deze.
Codt dropped his head in disappointment. He couldn't get anyone to go with the Cyork parts or what he really wanted to do; help make a Deff Dread. Ever since Hagob da Smasher had returned with Lytnog in his full suit of armored excellence, Codt had wanted to try and make one also. No one else was stepping forward to volunteer to become one. To make things more unfair Iz was out making suits of Mega Nob armor everyone was fighting to get in.
Codt did have plenty of other work to do so he turned to see who needed to be fixed up next. Ever since the new power armored Humies had shown up the fighting had intensified to a level Codt had never seen before. Codt had not seen any of them himself but had seen way too much of what they could do. The power armored Humies hit harder and did more damage than the Humies they had been fighting. At least this meant much more fun for Codt putting all of the Boyz back together.
In addition he had to admit that in order to make a Deff Dread he would need Iz and his Mek Boyz. Right now all of them were way too busy since much of Hagob's plan depended on what they could get done in a truly short amount of time. Codt almost wished he could be there in da Landin Bay helping them. Then again he would never give up cutting up and sewing back together Ork Boyz. It was just too much fun.
Just then Funkle the Runtherder stepped up to Codt and threw what looked like three or four Gretchin down at his feet. In their current condition it was hard to tell. Funkle then said, "Dez here ain't no good no mor for squig tendin. Youse can make em inna Killa Kans ora have m for lunch."
Codt looked them over with a professional eye and felt he could at least get the process started. He said, "Yea tanks for dem. I willa try and getz dem ready to take Sou's place. But ya knowz Iz and all of his Mek Boyz are workin onna da Big Project. Still Iz thinkz he left sum Killa Kan shells behind."
Codt looked up and back up at Funkle, giving him a quick examination. The Runtherder looked pretty tired. This gave him an idea. He said, "Howz gathering all da suppliez for da big attack going?"
Funkle put his grabba stikk in front of him and leaned forward on it. He said, "Youse know Gretchin and Snotlingz ain't to bad boyz. Dey justa needz sum gentle smackin around ta get dem inna da propa mood to getz da work done."
Codt nodded in agreement and said, "Yaz Iz hav a few Gretchin helpen out here. Dez do okay but donna zeem to wanna do it. Iz even tried sum brain experimentz but haz not worked out to good zo far."
Funkle raised his grabba stikk and checked to see if one Grot was still alive or just pretending to be alive. He then said, "Ya butta wid all da extra demand, da Boyz needa lotz stuff to keepem goin."
Codt said, "Ya dem new Humies in da power armor have really beena pushin da Boyz hard. Iz beena buzies den eva. Still Hagob and Lytnog hava beena doin a great job beatin dem back so wez can get da Big Project done. It iz exhaustin for everyone."
Funkle said, "Yaz it iz pretty darn exhaustin but when da Big Project getz done then wez shoulda be able ta getz sum rest afta a big party ta zelebrate."
Codt saw an opening now and took his shot. He said, "Now ifin youse needz sumting ta keepz ya goin, Iz have come upz wid a special brew thata putz the Gork back in ya Mork."
Funkle was not sure if he should trust Codt and the look on his face showed it. Still he was already pretty tired and the Gretchin and Snotlingz were really getting out of hand. He said, "Okayz Iz give justa aboot ready ta givez anyting a tryz right now."
Codt reached into a deep pocket in his surgical coat and pulled out a special can he had made up. He handed it to Funkle and said, "Just pop diz inna youse mouth and crush it wid youse teeth."
Funkle took the can and as he was told, popped it into his mouth and crushed it open with his powerful jaw. A dark bitter liquid hit his mouth and slid down his throat before he could react. He had just enough time to spit the empty can out of his mouth before the full effect of the liquid hit him. Funkle found himself shaking from head to toe as energy coursed through him. Any trace of tiredness left him immediately. He found himself so invigorated he turned and ran back to the squig pens, mumbling something about new oilier squigs that could be squeezed and eaten in one step the whole way.
Codt watched Funkle head out at great speed and had two thoughts come into his head. "Gonna hafta make sum more of that stuff." and "Good news, he dinna catch fire."
He then had another thought, "That stuff ain't cheap though. Gonna needz ta hit up Dente for sum more teef."
Unda Boss and Official Teef Collector Dente used his bare hands to pat out the fire on the dead Ork Boy. He had to admit the way some of the power armored Humies really liked to use big flame shootas was impressive. Even though they sometimes took all the air out of the tunnels and suffocated some of their own troops besides killing the Ork Boyz. Still that left the teef in good shape and were easier to get out of the burned bodies. Some of the teef even turned pretty colors. At least that was something.
After collecting all the teef from this one, he looked up to see his new squad of teef collectors were finished getting theirs done and were now waiting on him. Dente was proud of these new Ork Boyz. All of them were good Goff Clan Boyz who had stepped forward and volunteered to do this job. He had personally vetted each of them as true believers in Hagob da Smasher and his WAAAAGH and not just Bad Moons or Death Skulls. A couple of Dankle's Loota Boyz had tried to join up but he had gave them a few good stomps and turned them away. Once a Loota always a Loota.
Dente stood up and said, "Right Boyz, wez need ta getz all dez teef ta Iz and Bush down inna da Landin Bay. Dez needa buy more tings from dem cheapskate Orkz who iz not true believerz ta get da Big Project done so wez canna finally hit dem Humies where da live."
His teef collecting squad gave him a big cheer and then as one moved out with backpacks full of teef. Dente could not be more happy or proud of his Boyz. At least he did not have to worry about Dankle and his Loota Boyz trying to steal the teef away with these Goff Clan Ork Boyz around. He could not be prouder of them.
Loota Nob Dankle could not be madder at his Loota Boyz then he was now. Ever since da Big Project had started more and more Loota Boyz had been flocking to him ready to collect loot. Now while the other Ork Bosses and Nobz appreciated the big guns they brought to the fight against the power armored Humies, they did not appreciate the Loota Boyz trying to take the power armor or what was left of the power armor away with them. Iz and Bush had said that parts of the power armor were crucial to da Big Project and had to be returned to da Landin Bay. But his Loota Boyz kept trying to steal the stuff and everyone expected him to try and stop them.
That was the big rub. Trying to stop a Loota Boy from taking what was just laying around was against the very nature of Loota boyz that Gork and Mork themselves had instilled in them. It was just against all that was natural. Dankle for the first time in his life, had been praying hard to Gork and Mork that da Big Project would go off perfectly so he could get back to collecting everything he could and stop having to make his Loota Boyz give up what they collected.
Dankle fired a shot with his Deffgun in the general direction of some of his Loota Boyz to get their attention. He then said, "Iz seez youse and youse knowz what Hagob da Smasher said. Now stop trien to hide dat stuff and letz get our buttz to da Landin Bay."
He hoped they could get themselves straight there and not get ambushed on the way. Kappen Konna and hiz weirdo Kommandoz might like that sort of thing but he and his Loota Boyz preferred a straight up fight.
Readying his ambush close to da Landin Bay Kappen Konna crouched down and prepared to give the signal to fire. He and his Kommandoz were still doing the scouting all around the Ork held tunnels when they spotted this group too close to da Big Project. They had instantly gone in Standing Operating Procedures.
This was some compensation to make up for his disappointment that they had to quit trying to find the Humies home base. Hagob and Lytnog's Big Project was supposed to find it and they were needed to protect the Big Project until then. Still taking a small group of Kommandoz deep into enemy territory was the true life of a Kommandoz.
At least preparing to ambush a group of the power armored Humies who had managed to get pretty far into Ork tunnels was a close second. These were some of the really brightly colored ones and that meant one of them was a Weird Boy. Probably the one floating in the air on a disc thingy, but you could never be sure with Humies, it might be the one with the really big shoota on his shoulder.
Who was he kidding, he had to admit he was loving this type of battle. Constant sneaking and ambushing as he and his Boyz took out regular Humies and power armored Humies left and right, up, and down, back, and forth and all over the place. The Kommandoz had found more new tunnels and air ducts and crawl spaces and long unopened rooms and chambers than ever before. All of this searching and fighting fun had just gotten better and better.
When da Big Project was finished and they found the Humie home base then there would be more places to search and more Humies to fight and maybe they would find some more of those four-armed things to fight. Long ago when he had gone further from the Ork tunnels than ever before or since, he had only found two of them. Those two with the two four armed things had taken down a dozen Kommandoz before they had been taken out. Now that had been a great scrap.
Getting his thoughts back to the current ambush, Kappen Konna saw the power armor Humies were almost out of the ambush zone. He forgot the signal and just raised his shoota and fired. The rest of his Kommandoz joined in seconds later. Two of the power armored Humies went down immediately but the floating one did something Weird Boy and their rounds just bounced off a shimmering field around him. Kappen Konna smiled broadly. This was going to be an interesting scrap. He did wonder for a moment how Orkz like Iz could be happy tinkering with weapons and such instead of fighting and being sneaky all the time.
Iz was not happy. Surrounded by dozens of workshops and hundreds of Mek Boyz in da Landin Bay he could not do what he really wanted to do. Instead of tinkering around with weapons and such things he was supervising all the Orkz and Gretchin who got to do the tinkering. Da Big Project was underway and he could not raise a hammer to help. Still Hagob da Smasher, Prophet of Gork and Mork, War Boss of da WAAAAGH to free da Rok, had told him, Iz the Mek Boy, he was the only one he trusted to pull this Big project off. He was now a Big Mek. Iz had even managed to find some Mek Nobz among the Evil Sunz clan. One of them was approaching him now.
Bush of the Evil Sunz clan stopped in front of Big Mek Iz and said, "Dankle and Kappen Konna are back. Dey both broughtz in plenty offa da Humie power armor wid dem."
This at least was good news to Iz. He smacked Bush across the face and then he said, "Good, good, getz all offa itz ova to da Boyz workin on youse knowz what and youse knowz where."
Bush turned to go, but Iz grabbed him by the arm and said, "Hey iza anna ova da Humie power armor goodz enough ta uze ta make sum more Mega Nobz armor?"
Bush shook off his grip and with a grunt said, "Iz have not seenz it yet so howz would Iz know."
Iz just shot right back and said, "Wellz gozz and seez. Hagob could uze a few more Mega Nobz when takez da void ship and goez ta fightz da Humies."
Bush just answered and said, "Sure, sure Iz will check it allz oot for youse. Be right backz wid a report."
Iz let Bush go. He really wanted to go look over the Humie power armor himself. There were just so many fun and exciting things that a good Mek Boy could do with it. Iz was one of the best but he could not play with the Humie power armor. He needed to go check on more than a dozen different things and make sure everyone was working till they dropped.
Then there was all the Gretchin and Snotlings helping out. He could already see some of them trying to sneak off with a few parts he knew they should not have taken. They looked to be heading to the great void shield that separated da Landin Bay from the void. He started to head off after them and then something else hit him.
Before he started running off after the Gretchin, Iz took a moment to look at the void ship. He did not know what race of beings had built it, but it now was fully operational. It was a shame they could not make it all Orky. There was a plan and not being Orky was part of it. Still the inside was Orky and with it they would find the Humies home base and beat the Humies silly.
The only real shame right now was the void ship did not have an Orky name. Hagob really needed to name their void ship. Just calling it void ship was silly. Like the way Weird Boyz were sometimes just exploding in the middle of a scrap. Now to get those Gretchin.
Inside the void ship, in a hidden cargo compartment under the floor plates, Litehead the Weird Boiy was preparing himself for the big one. He was not gifted with foresight but he was somehow connected to Hagob in a way he did not understand. The plan was a good one and da Big Project was solid. He knew Gork and Mork wanted them to succeed. He also knew Gork and Mork would not help them in this fight. The Ork gods expected their Boyz to get the job done on their own without divine intervention.
There were two things he did know for sure. One was he would be by Hagob's side in this upcoming battle. It would not be a scrap or a fight but an all-out battle they might not win. He did not mind that, dying in battle was the dream of every Ork. The other thing he knew was that there were going to be more than a few psykers where they were going. He started to try and calm his mind with the two barrels of beer he had brought in this hold with him to be ready for this battle. It was definitely going to be a big one.
BACK AT THE CATHEDRAL OF DIVIDED UNITY MAIN MANUFACTURING FACILITY
Librarian Presdicon never liked the manufacturing areas of The Cathedral of Divided Unity. He understood they were very important to pursuing the aims and goals of the Chaos Gods. It was just that the Dark Mechanicus were less interested in worshipping the Masters of the Immaterium then in using those worshippers as test subjects for the results of their strange experiments.
There was also the smell of the place. It was not the comforting scents of the battlefield nor the torture chambers nor the sacrificial altars. The odors of this place were both too clean and too filthy at the same time. Then there was all the light from the forges. This place was too bright in most of the place but there were also very deep shadows that seemed alive with small demons who had escaped from being imprisoned in the Dark Mechanicus devices.
Still there was something that needed to be done and he had to do it. He went toward the main offices to find High Tech Priest Rho-Chi 79326. The Dark Mechanicus leader was there of course plugged into the main console and coordinating all the activity in the manufacturing facility. Presdicon did not like the way this conversation would be held. He would only have a part of High Tech Priest Rho-Chi 79326 mind while the rest was still lost in ten thousand other places.
At there was no one else in the office physically, other Tech Priests would be listening in through their shared connections. Presdicon came close enough to High Tech Priest Rho-Chi 79326 and said, "Greetings to you High Priest."
High Tech Priest Rho-Chi 79326 as expected did not look at Presdicon but replied and said, "I do not have time for pleasantries. There are several experiments approaching final stage that I need to keep a close eye on. Why are you here?"
Presdicon thought this might be the case or at least that is what he would tell him, still he said, "The Orkz are proving to be tougher than we thought they would be. Casualties are mounting. They have also recently been sighted with a Dreadnaught. We find that we are in need of more powerful weapons to neutralize them as fast as possible."
High Tech Priest Rho-Chi 79326 did not hesitate and said, "Yes I am doing my best to provide them. As I previously said, if the supply ships would arrive with the proper resources and not endless streams of useless unmodified Humans we could provide what you need."
This was an old argument the Dark Mechanicus used when they could not give what they promised. This time Presdicon was ready for him and said, "The good news for you. There is a convoy of eight ships all captured from your False Emperor worshipping counterparts. They will have what you need on board and will be here in just another day."
Now High Tech Priest Rho-Chi 79326 did hesitate this time. He finally said, "Then in one day I will be in our main landing bay to oversee the incoming inventory and ensure you will have everything you need within three days after that."
Presdicon did his best not to smile and said, "Very good. I will be there with you in the main landing bay to make sure everything promised to you is delivered to you."
