It was a beautiful day as William and Julia were heading to a special event, which they didn't know what about. As they arrived, they found out it was a party for the Toronto Society for the Advancement of Eugentics, hosted by The Pendricks, with guests of scientists and doctors, with guest of honor, H.G. Wells.
As they watched, James introduce H.G. Wells, William noticed his sister-in-law, "Julia is that, Ruby?"
"It is, what is she doing with H.G. Wells?"
"Getting herself involved with another man" William said
Julia nodded, as she hated that her sister went from men to men. As they were enjoying the event, they saw a dog with a man's arm in its mouth.
"Drop it" William said as he goes into detective mode
As, William begins investigating, Julia talks to Ruby, when H.G. Wells approaches them and begins flirting with her.
"Bertie, this is my sister, Julia"
"Pleasure" and kisses her hand
She laughs awkwardly, "have you met my husband, detective William Murdoch?"
"I have…and some man" he said and walks away
"Ruby, I can't believe your courting him? Isn't he married?"
"And divorced, yes, what's your point?"
Julia didn't say anything and rolled her eyes, "well, will you come for dinner tonight and see the children?"
"Love too"
"And don't bring, him"
"Spoiled sport"
Later in the morgue, William and Julia were thinking of who the victim was, but they only had the arm. They began going through the guests to see if could be the murderer, but too many to count.
"I know many of them, personally, William. But can't imagine them doing such a thing"
"But it needs to be considered, but thank, you, Julia"
"It's intriguing the notion of bettering the human race" she said with a seductive voice
"But, its if we were discussing a prize stallion breeding a mare"
"Interesting…but husbandry has been practiced for centuries"
"You, got a prize stallion, right?"
She smiles, "the very best"
"Good, well, then I must be off" and kisses her as he leaves and she is completely aroused as she grabs his arm, "what's the rush?"
Without a single thought, they end up making love on her desk.
That night at dinner, Ruby didn't listen to Julia and brought Bertie, who kept flirting with Julia.
As they were getting ready for bed, William asked "Julia was it just me, or was Mr. Wells, flirting with you?"
She nodded, "I told Ruby, not to bring him. He's quite an inappropriate man"
"Is he married?"
"Yes, and divorced with children. But you don't need to worry, William, only have eyes for you" she said and kissed him
"Good"
A couple of days later, Julia was in the morgue, when Mr. Wells came in, "so, this is where you are when you're not being a wife and mother"
"Ruby isn't here"
"Oh, I know, I came to see you"
"Me?"
"Yes, would you like to join me for dinner?"
She was shocked, "excuse me, not only are we married, but you're divorced and courting my sister"
"Your husband, doesn't need to know"
"Mr. Wells…"
"Bertie, please"
She takes a deep breath, "Mr. Wells, I am very happily married and will not betray my sister. Plus, I find you utterly repulsive. Now, will you please leave"
"Very, well" he says and leaves
"But if you weren't married, would you?"
"No, I wouldn't"
"Ok, and one more question?"
"What?"
"Do you really, just want to stay at a job, where you examine dead bodies?"
"Well…I"
"Think about it" he said and leaves
The case was closed and Julia said goodbye to Ruby and encouraged her to stop seeing him, as she went home, she saw William and the children outside playing, when she decides to start dinner. When she goes into the door, the phone rings, and she answers it, "hello, Murdoch-Ogden residence"
"Hello, may I speak with a Dr. Julia Ogden?"
"Speaking"
"Oh, great, I got your number by Dr. Tash, who recommended you for a great work opportunity in Buffalo"
"Buffalo, New York?"
"That's it. Would you like to have dinner and discuss it more?"
"I…uh…let me think about it"
"Of course, call me back, when you have decided. Bye for now"
She hangs up the phone and is flabbergasted, knowing the card reading was true. A new job, but away from there life in Toronto, how can she?
