Wyatt looked at them outrage. Why would they lock him in here, he couldn't think of a good reason.
Wyatt's POV
What the hell Wynter I could expect Willa to betray me but not you! I yell at them as they were leaving.
Wynter started to turn around with a sad face "I'm sorry Wyatt but.." Willa grabs her shoulder turning her back around and says " Wynter you know it's for his own good." Then they both walk out of the cave.

Unknown to the former alpha's son he was about to endure one of the hardest things to ever happen to the Alpha bloodline. What was about to happen to Wyatt was called The Changing which only happens when the next to be alpha meets their mate. It is an excruciating process where the next to be alpha stays away from their mate for two weeks without confirmation that said mate is safe. The outcome of The Changing depends entirely on the connection between the two mates. If the connection is strong enough to survive the two weeks apart then they are deemed fit to rule together. If the connection breaks in the time apart they were not meant to rule and in some cases they can die from the sadness and grief. Neither party knows what is happening with the other although the possible alpha is told nothing about their mate directly while the people who tend to them make up lies about the mate being in possible danger or something they believe will bring out the wolf in their leader to test the connection of mates. Meanwhile the mate is told that the possible alpha is on vacation or busy so they can't see them. All of this is necessary to prove that the next to be alpha can survive in any conditions. This is an ancient right of passage that has been passed down the alpha bloodline for generations.
Hey guys I know it's been longer than I said but life happens so yeah here you go. I'm so excited for marching band to start like I live for marching band and band in general but my ex is in marching band, luckily he is in a different section and I love my directors. They are wonderful people for putting up with us. Also I have started questioning wheather I'm ace or asexual again and I'm pretty sure I am so thats always a fun discovery.
