The Harry Potter Fan Club

"My dear friends," Colin said solemnly. "I hereby call this meeting of the Harry Potter fan club to order."

He looked around at the other students—all Gryffindors, since he hadn't wanted to risk meeting outside of the common room after curfew—as pride bubbled up inside of him. He had been dying to start a fan club for the Boy Who Lived for ages, and now his dream was coming to fruition.

Ginny Weasley was at his immediate right, smiling and looking altogether exhilarated. She had been his first recruit back in September, and she had, over the past month, shared many tidbits about Harry that Colin eagerly lapped up.

Another first-year, a small girl named Pauline Jones, slowly raised her hand.

"Yes?" Colin looked at her expectantly.

"What exactly do you plan to do at these meetings?" she asked.

"Well, anything goes as long as it's related to Harry Potter, I suppose," Colin said, ticking off suggestions on his fingers. "We can discuss Harry sightings, swap stories about him, share pictures—I have loads—and whatever else we fancy."

"I think we ought to start by talking about why we admire Harry," Ginny piped up. "Just in case some of us"—she shot Pauline a dark look—"don't quite understand why he's such a big deal."

Colin blinked and made a mental note to ask Ginny about her animosity towards Pauline later.

"That's a great idea," he said enthusiastically. "We can just go around in a circle and anyone who wants to say something, can. I'll start. Harry Potter is my idol because..."

He launched into a lengthy explanation of Harry's many positive attributes, gesticulating animatedly as he spoke. By the time he was finished, everyone except Ginny had glazed expressions on their faces.

Colin smiled at the redhead, grateful that at least one other person seemed to idolise Harry as much as he did. "Would you like to go next, Ginny?"

She nodded. "Sure."

Colin leaned forward and put his chin in his hands, eager to hear another perspective about what made Harry so great. In his head, he was already making plans for the next meeting. Maybe he could somehow swing a guest appearance from Harry himself...
