Braxton House
"Good morning my dear baby brother." Heath grins as he walks in after a good night's sleep.
"Someone else who's in a good mood." Denny chuckles. "It's like you boys have been given some happy juice."
"Don't get me started." Bianca lightly rolls her eyes. "It's normally by baby keeping me up at night, but last night it was Heath talking about how he's going to do everything with Kyle now."
"Come on, Kyle nearly died and after everything that happened before this… He needs to know he is always going to have us around, even when we don't live here anymore." Heath says.
"Wait, so yesterday when you said you've been looking for a place of your own, is that going to happen sooner or later?" Casey asks.
"There was one place that we didn't want to miss the chance to buy, and I called the estate agents when we got home yesterday and he said there's other people interested. We really want that house more than the others, it would be perfect for us." Heath says.
"So why don't you go for it before someone else does?" Denny asks.
"Kyle's going to need a lot of help once he's discharged, we can't leave now." Heath says.
"You know he'd have all of us there for him, and you said the places you were looking at were in the Bay, so what's the problem?" Casey asks.
"There's not really one. I just don't want Kyle to think I'm abandoning him when he needs us the most." Heath says.
"He wouldn't think that." Casey says. "He wouldn't want you missing the chance to live in the place you really want just because he's going to need some help once discharged. He's got all of us, just remember that, and you'd be here all the time anyway." Casey says.
"Casey's right. We adored that house, and it's not too far from here if you were needed urgently. Actually, it was at the end of the street, so maybe a minute walk at a push." Bianca laughs.
"Wait, the house down the road?" Casey frowns. "That's the one you want?"
"Yeah, why not?" Heath asks.
"I just thought you'd make the most of moving out and move further away, but that's not bad." Casey says. "And it would give you a couple spares room, so if Kyle needed a break from this place, or a better night's rest, he could stay with you."
"That's not a bad idea." Heath says. "What do you reckon babe?" He asks Bianca.
"I think we should go for it before someone else does. It would also mean Tyler can move into our room. He's going to need to stay here for a bit while he recovers from the surgery, so it would make a lot of sense." Bianca says. "Why don't I go and call the estate agents and put an offer in?"
"Do it." Heath grins.
"Okay." Bianca smiles, walking out where it would be quieter.
"Where's Ricky?" Heath asks.
"She went to Angelo's to sort a few things out. She agreed with Brax to open the place up for a few hours every day now Kyle's awake." Casey says. "I also called the cops earlier to get an update on the triplets mum to see if she had been to court yet."
"Oh yeah, what did they say?" Heath asks, having forgotten about her in all the stress over Kyle's condition.
"She was in court the other day, she still pleaded guilty to the hit and run, and also stealing from the bar and was sent down." Casey says. "She got 34 years, it would have been life if Kyle died, but he didn't so they said 34 years was the maximum they could give her."
"How is that the maximum they could give when Kyle was hours away from dying?" Heath frowns. "She deserves a lot longer than that!"
"I know, but we should be lucky that she even got that. It's still a very long time and she wasn't given parole which is even better." Casey says. "Kyle's alive, that's all we need to focus on now."
"And at least you don't have to worry about her coming back into your lives any time soon, she's gone for good." Denny says.
"Yeah, we should be grateful for that." Casey nods. "Anyway, have you decided on when you're going to set a date for the wedding? You're not going to do a Brax and Ricky and set it for three weeks time are you?" He jokes.
"Nope, we're going to wait a while. We want to focus on Kyle's recovery first, and Bianca also wants to wait until our boy's here. There's no way we're setting it so soon, I think Bianca would go into early labour and I don't need anything else to worry about after the past few weeks." Heath scoffs as she walks back in from the garden.
"Our offer is going to be sent over to the owner and they'll get back to us soon." Bianca smiles.
"I can't wait." Heath smiles. "I'm going to head to the hospital soon, who wants a lift when I leave?"
"I will." Casey says.
"I need to get to the bait shop, Alf needs me to cover a shift." Denny says.
"Okay, meet you later?" Casey asks, Denny nodding as she kisses him before walking out before she was late.
"I'll come, it would be good to see how Kyle's doing today." Bianca says.
Northern Districts Hospital
"Everyone's stoked to know you're awake, they've been celebrating on our behalf." Blake smiles, having arrived not long before with breakfast for them. "They want to come and see you at some point, they're just waiting until you've recovered a bit more."
"I think that's for the best. I've seen how energetic some of them can be." Emily laughs.
"They're not that bad, most of the time." Kyle smiles, noticing how close Blake and Lucas were sitting together. "But what am I missing here?"
"Nothing." Blake shrugs with a grin. "Just that thing we were talking about that day."
"That thing?" Kyle mutters, trying to think back to when he met up with Blake before being run over. "We spoke about a lot."
"Blake told me he likes me and wants to be with me." Lucas grins. "Apparently you had something to do with that?"
"So you took my advice then?" Kyle smiles at his best friend.
"Once I figured out what you meant. Thanks for coming out with it straight away, I really understood what you meant." Blake sarcastically says.
"I didn't even know if it was right!" Kyle smirks. "I'm glad it is though, you look happy together."
"We are, even if we haven't actually managed to do anything yet. I'd hardly call a coffee break in the hospital cafe a date." Lucas laughs.
"I've had worse than that, consider it one." Brax scoffs.
"But you've been with Ricky for basically eternity, so are you saying you, or her, planned a bad date?" Emily asks.
"No, it was with the chick I was with before Ricky." Brax says.
"Is that the one called Charlie?" Lucas asks.
"Yeah, I don't even know how it worked between us, she was a cop." Brax says. "We had to hide our relationship for quite a while because of it, so we couldn't exactly have dates out in the open with other people around."
"Why didn't it work out between you two?" Emily asks, noticing a couple awkward glances between Kyle and Lucas. "Did I say something wrong?"
"We were actually in a really great place." Brax says. "But then she was shot, and a few days later her life support was turned off because she was declared brain dead."
"I'm so sorry, I didn't know." Emily says, feeling bad for asking.
"It's fine, I'm okay with things now." Brax says, the door opening to their family.
"How's it going bro?" Heath smiles as he walks in over to Kyle's bed.
"I feel a lot better today." Kyle smiles.
"I'm doing okay as well, thanks for asking." Tyler smirks.
"I was getting there." Heath rolls his eyes as he glances at Bianca before turning to Brax. "Where's Ricky?" He asks.
"At Angelo's getting it ready to open up again. She said she was going to try and come in later." Brax replies.
"Right, well I guess we can tell her later." Heath says, smiling at Bianca again. "We decided to put an offer in on a place this morning, and it was accepted on our way in. We've bought a house down the street." He smiles.
"Another congrats to you bro." Brax chuckles. "And at a good time. Tyler can't stay at the caravan park because of the surgery-"
"So he can have our room. We'll be out by the time he's discharged." Heath says.
"Sweet." Tyler grins. "But you do know I might be discharged today, right?"
"No! What happened to being in for a few days?" Heath frowns, them all laughing at how annoyed he looked about it.
