Braxton House
"You seem a lot happier lately, what's different?" Ricky asks her husband.
"I've just been thinking a lot lately, especially when I'm at the hospital with Kyle." Brax says.
"Is that why you haven't been there this week, cause you thought too much?" Ricky jokes, smiling at his face.
"Nope, although I have have a clearer head since. Kyle's been doing great in his physio sessions lately and he hasn't had any more forgetful moments which Nate said is great. The boys have also had their mates visiting Kyle in hospital, so I didn't want to cramp their style." Brax says. "And I've also been roped into helping Heath decorate his house, so haven't had time to go and check on Kyle. I've been calling him and he's doing great, he thinks he can be discharged soon but we all know Nate isn't thinking about that yet."
"Yeah, he seems to be getting that bubbly energy back that I have't seen for a very long time, it's really great to see. How's Heath doing now they've had some time to settle into their home, I bet they haven't got much more decorating to go?" Ricky says. "And of course Kyle thinks he's going to be discharged soon, you told him he might be if he did everything the doctors told him to." She smirks.
"Yep, still good to know I can boss them around." Brax smiles. "They're settling in well, can't believe where the time's gone since moving in and they've got a lot sorted already. We've pretty much finished the decorating, well I think we have, Heath keeps changing his mind on how he wants things done."
"That's great news for them both, it would be great if they can have time to really enjoy it before the baby arrives." Ricky says. "Do you think Kyle will be okay once he's discharged?" She asks.
"How'd you mean?" Brax frowns.
"He's feeling great now because he's got nothing else to do or really think about, but what happens once he's discharged back into reality? Will he start going downhill again to the frame of mind he was in before the accident or will he continue being in a great frame of mind?" Ricky asks.
"I hadn't thought about that, I thought he'd continue doing great." Brax mutters as he starts thinking to himself.
"Are you okay?" Ricky asks, noticing he had gone quiet.
"Yeah." Brax nods. "I was just thinking about how different things could have been if Kyle… It's put things into perspective. Life is too short for all of this shit and I don't want to waste another second of it. Family is everything."
"Well I think your life is pretty good now and I don't see things changing anytime soon. The boys are all getting along great as well, I think they're realised the same thing." Ricky says.
"I know, but that's not what I meant." Brax says, smiling at her. "Let's have a baby."
"What?" Ricky frowns, wondering if she really did hear those words coming from him. "You want to have kids for real?"
"I want your son." Brax nods, turning to face her more.
"What if I want a daughter?" Ricky asks.
"Then we can have both." Brax smiles. "What'd you reckon?" He asks.
"I say let's do it." Ricky grins.
"Really?"
"Yes. I mean we don't have to have straight away because I know you'll want to be here for Kyle while he recovers but we've got plenty of options. And if it was to happen soon, we'd still have months to prepare ourselves." Ricky says.
"Yeah, that's a great idea. But we don't have to put things on hold to help Kyle recover, I can still help and he's got Heath, Casey, his triplets and a bunch of mates who'd help out. He's also got Emily, I think she's been hinting for me to let her move in with Kyle." Brax says.
"Okay, that's a good point. And would that really happen?" Ricky asks. "Apart from the fact that you didn't let her stay before, unless Kyle snuck her through a window, she's got extremely protective parents. I don't think they'd let her move out so soon."
"That's not a conversation I really want to be having with them. Don't get me wrong, me and Emily get along well now, I just don't want things moving too quickly between them. Kyle's only just turned 21, he's still got years ahead of him before he needs to be pinned down with marriage and kids." Brax says.
"They don't want to be married with kids for years, they've already had this conversation. They wanted to live their lives before talking about those things properly." Ricky says.
"They never told me that much, just that they'd been talking about it." Brax says, glad he didn't have to worry about that for a while as he didn't want Kyle to get hurt again.
"Well you don't need to worry about it, they're happy with how things are. But if Emily's parents were to let her move in here, would you agree to it?" Ricky asks.
"Is there something I don't know about?"
"Nope, just a question."
"Well it would depend if they've been forced into saying yes. It wouldn't happen for a long time, I want Kyle to be fully recovered before making any drastic decisions." Brax says. "I was going to check in with Kyle at the hospital before sorting some things at Angelo's. I'm free after that if you are?"
"I sure am." Ricky nods as there's a knock at the door. "Talk of the devil." She lightly smiles to Brax.
"Emily, what can we do for you?" Brax asks.
"I've just come to drop some things off that Kyle's mates got him before I need to go and do some more studying." Emily says, placing the bags on the floor. "You haven't told Kyle what you've got him for his birthday yet, you do remember it was last week don't you?" She smirks.
"Yes I do know that. Mine is being delayed for a while." Brax says.
"How come?" Emily asks, seeing him hold back from saying. "You know I'll keep it a secret from him."
"Yeah, I know. It's what you do best." Brax says.
"Brax!" Ricky groans, whacking him on the arm. "That is in the past, so leave it there."
"All I meant by it is that she's good at keeping secrets, nothing bad meant by it, partly." Brax says as Emily joins them by the couch.
"It's fine, I know you won't get over what I did to Kyle, but I haven't done anything like that since. I love Kyle more than anything and his accident has proved that I don't want to risk losing him again." Emily says.
"Yeah I know." Brax nods.
"So what did you get him?" Emily asks, grinning as he stares at her.
"I wasn't sure what to get him now he's got Lucas and Tyler, so I was going to give them a trip away somewhere as a joint present." Brax says, having thought about it a lot in the weeks leading up to their birthday. "Now Kyle's got a long recovery ahead of him, I've got to rethink it quick."
"Why? I think it would be good to still give it to them, just further along the line. It would give Kyle something to look forward to once he's recovered. I think they'd really enjoy a trip away for just the three of them." Emily says, liking the idea of them being able to bond more now they all get on a lot better as triplets. "I think it would be really good for them all, give them some more time to get that connection between them."
"Yeah, I guess. I've got some other bits for them in the meantime. Tyler wanted some stuff for his room, so they've all got cash to get what they want. He didn't want anything else and thought it would make him feel more at home." Brax says.
"I think that's really nice, it would feel more homely for everyone." Emily smiles. "Anyway, I'm going to sort these things out for Kyle and then I really need to study." She says, moving to pick the bags up.
"I better go, I'll see you later." Brax says, kissing Ricky before leaving.
"We're you going to study at your house?" Ricky asks Emily as she helps with the bags.
"Depends if my brothers are going to be home on their Xbox or not." Emily says.
"Well was going to go out to take some photos, you're more than welcome to study here. I know the boys won't be home until later, and Heath is busy at his new place, so it will be quiet here for you." Ricky says as they place the bags on the bed.
"Sure, thank you." Emily smiles.
"I'll see you later." Ricky smiles as she walks out to get her camera before leaving.
