It was a surprisingly warm morning. Surprising because it was the middle of December and it was the kind of day they show in movies and books, with birds chirruping and the early morning rays of the sun shining down on the sleeping inhabitants of Potter Manor.
Except one.
James Sirius Potter was lying on his bed, tossing his practice Golden Snitch up and down in front of his face. Sunday mornings were not his favorite. Sunday early mornings were, according to James, the devil's spawn. Any early morning actually was a downright pain in the sit me down. All this tosh of the early bird catching the worm was codswallop in his opinion. James was, in the truest sense of the word, a night owl.
Which is why, at 5:30 in the morning, at the crack of dawn, James was still awake. He'd spent half the night gawking over pictures of the new broomstick, Galaxy 101(OMG!!!) and then spending the rest of the night wondering how he was going to convince his parents to buy it for him, because he wasn't on the Quidditch team at Hogwarts yet. Merlin, he was still a first year. He had a LOOOONG way to go if he wanted to be star Chaser of the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
But that was last night.
After drooling over the broomstick, and deciding that stabbing himself in the chest with a knife, and then asking for the broomstick as a sympathy request was not the best idea in the world, he decided to go for a little stroll in the house because he was yet again consumed by the jaws of absolute boredom.
He wandered all over the house for a while, and then as fate would have it, ended up in his father's study...which he was most definitely not allowed to go into, but rules were made to be broken anyway.
Still catching and tossing his Golden Snitch, he wandered all over the study, looking at everything with wide eyes. There was such a variety of different trinkets and assortment of things that it was hard to look at every little thing. Merlin's beard, he thought picking up a peculiar speherical shaped object that was studded with emeralds and rubies and spikes of all things, if being Head Auror meant you could be in contact with cool things such as these I wouldn't mind studying so much to become one!
Suddenly a shining golden shimmer caught his eye. He turned around to see what it was, and nearly dropped the spiky sphere that he was holding. It was a Time Turner! An honest to goodness Time Turner! He'd only read about them in books and heard his Aunt Hermione talking about it once. He'd never seen it!
He approached it cautiously, as if he were approaching a wild animal, and picked it up. Oh, it was so beautiful, with it's bejewelled top and bottom and golden glimmer.
Still holding onto the Time Turner, he ruffled his iconic jet black Potter hair and grinned. This was going to be fun. His parents were fast asleep in their room, too tired after a Ministry ball to bother about anything, his siblings, Lils and Al, were asleep in their rooms and Teddy, his godbrother, was probably dreaming about the love of his life and best friend, Emily Wood.
Nobody was around to disturb him as his hand hovered over the key that controlled time and space and-
"Jamie, " came the soft sound of a little girl's voice, successfully making him jump and almost drop the Time Turner and breaking him out of his trance.
He whirled around and saw his little sister standing there in her pink unicorn pajamas, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "Lils," he exhaled slowly, trying to catch his breath, "what're you doing here?"
"I heard some noises so I came to check," said Lily, yawning. She suddenly stopped and looked at him suspiciously. "What are YOU doing here?"
"Er, nothing in particular," said James, casually trying to hide the Time Turner from Lily.
"What's that?" she said, pointing at the Time Turner, "Jamie, you KNOW we're not allowed in Daddy's study or to touch his things!"
"I was just looking! Go back to bed, Lils."
"Not until you tell me what you're doing."
Blast. James thought angrily. Little sisters have to be the most annoying creatures of all time.
"Lily, you-"
"What's going on?" said a sleepy Teddy, walking into the room with a yawning Albus in tow. Bloody hell, thought James, was the entire Wizengamot going to waltz into the room next?
"What are both of you doing here? Don't you know you're supposed to be-IS THAT A TIME TURNER?" said Teddy, all traces of sleepiness gone from his face as he looked at it with wide eyes.
"Er, no, I mean yes." said James, wondering how his grand plans of causing havoc could be falling apart in front of his very eyes.
"Time Turners are pretty rare," said Albus, staring at it in awe, "how did Dad get hold of it?"
"It doesn't matter how he got hold of it! What matters is that you need to give it to me right now." said Teddy, almost frantically, holding out his hand.
"No way! I just want to see it! I won't do anything I promise!"
"James Sirius Potter! You give me that Time Turner right now!"
"No!"
Meanwhile Lily, who didn't really understand what was happening but could sense that Jamie was doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing(again!) launched herself at James causing him to fall back on the ground...straight on the Time Turner.
There was a crash as it broke, and out came a swirling vortex of sand, engulfing all of them and then a crash and the Potters and Teddy were no longer in 2015.
A/N- So that was the prologue. I know it was a little long.I know that Teddy and Victorie are supposed to be cannon but I don't know there relationship grosses me out for some reason, I don't know why, so Emily Wood, an OC, is Teddy's love interest. Please do review the story:)This is my first story ever so be kind:)Thanks:)
