Kala and Ka-lor came to get them that evening when it was time for dinner. The family had set tables out on the lawn for the Troops to eat at, while the General's family swirled around them in a colorful blur. Bacarra was trying to lead his men through this as the General himself was nowhere to be found and Ka-lor saw his confusion, "Father," the young man could always make the word almost a curse, "is meditating." Bowing his domed head in respect as one of the General's wives passed, Ka-lor continued, "Food has been saved for when he is finished."

Baccara only had time to say, "Thank you," before little Kala was on his other side.

Wriggling under his arm (Scorch was on that side and moved some to give the kid room) the girl settled next to Baccara on the bench and turned her large eyes on him. "Uncle Bac," (she's addressing him?) "Where are you and my other Uncle Alors from?"

Swallowing a sudden lump in his throat, "We are from Kamino." Seeing the child's confusion, "It's in the Outer Rim just south of the Rishi Maze."

Ka-lor took up the thread and she turned to him, "It's all water, like the pond." Only then did the child's face clear.

Turning back to Baccara, "Do a lot of fish live there?"

Nodding, "Yes, there are a lot of fish." Then adding, "Some of them walk on two legs."

Kala shook her head, "Wow…" the word was full of wonder. Blinking her clear blue eyes, "Do they talk?"

This simple question was enough to make Baccara choke on the food he was swallowing. Scorch spoke to cover for him, "Yes they do." Kala turned to him, "But they usually sound like bad medical droids," changing his tone, "The cut on your hand isn't deep." Motioning her away, "It doesn't need a patch, go back to work." Then back in his normal voice, "But they will have entire conversations like that."

Giggling, the child hugged him, "Thank you Uncle Scor." Carefully letting his arm go around the child Scorch grinned as if he was getting his name all over again. Conversation was then steered to stories about their brothers and the evening passed without a hitch in that way.
