This Fanfic is rated M for containing some gratuitous descriptions gore, and death

This is a remake of an old fic I remember reading years ago, but I've never been able to find the original, so I've decided to rewrite it to the best of my abilities!

"Wake up Len!!!" Rin yelled, craned over her twin's sleeping body, "Have you forgotten what day it is?" "Wha-what? What day is it?" Len sleepily mumbled through his tiredness as he blinked his eyes in an attempt to wake up more. "It's Iroha's 10th birthday, dummy!!" Rin answered, "Y'know, our best friend??" Len blinked slowly, taking in and processing the information for a second before he replies, "Oh!! I've gotta get dressed!" He exclaimed as he jumped out of bed, jumping to get a white tee-shirt and a yellow jacket, fit with some black pants, all the while, Rin had already gotten dressed before Len woke up, she was wearing a yellow dress with black tights underneath, and her trademark bow atop her head. "Are you ready, banana boy??" Rin asked as she picked up a neatly wrapped present. "Uh-huh!!" Len spoke, muffled through his late breakfast, as he grabbed his own present for Iroha aswell.

The twins jumped out the door and ran to the car, passing a black cat sitting near the road, as their parents got in and started the car, "I can't believe Iroha is ten!! We're only nine!" Len spoke to Rin, "I know! She's so much older than us! Like... 3 months!!" Rin replied, "Yeah, well she's less older than me!" Boasted the blond boy, "Only by like, two minutes!!" Rin refuted. The car slowed down to a halt as they reached Iroha's house, and her party.

Rin and Len hopped out of the car and ran into the front yard, where there were 2 tables, parallel to eachother, one with several colourful presents, and one with food. As the twins put their presents on the corresponding table, they heard a voice behind them, "Hey guys! I'm really happy you're here!" The twins turned around and saw Iroha, in a pale pink dress with white accents, holding a small calico kitten plush close to her chest, "Iroha! Happy birthday!" the Kagamines greeted in near unison, "Thank you!" Iroha said, "This is Luna! My mum gave her to me today and I love her so much! Say hi!" She cheerfully held the kitten plush out to the twins, "Aww, she's so cute! Hi Luna!" Rin smiled, petting the plush on the head, "Hey Luna!" Len echoed, petting her aswell.

"Do you two wanna go play with me and Luna?" Iroha inquired as she pointed toward the base of a large, twisting oak tree, "Yeah sure! Let's go Rin!" Len said as he pulled his sister along with Iroha. The trio sat themselves down and started playing with Luna and laughing around.

Len piped up, "Hey, wanna play Hide and Seek?" After the two girls, and Iroha voicing for Luna, agreed, Len told Iroha, "Alright, Iroha, close your eyes until I say so!" Iroha agreed and closed her eyes, smiling cheerfully, as Len lifted Luna from her lap, "Len?" Rin asked in a hushed tone, "Don't worry, Rinny, this'll be fun!" Len answered as he sat the cat happily on a bush, "Ok! Open!" He chimed. Iroha opened her eyes and looked around for Luna, immediately noticing she was missing, "Where's Luna?" she inquired, darting her eyes around the area, "She's hiding!" Len replied, Iroha quickly saw Luna and got a hold of her, jumping up to reach the bush, "Haha! I like Hide and Seek!" Iroha giggled, and she held the kitten out to Rin, "Your turn, Rinny!" Iroha grinned happily, "Okie dokie, birthday girl!" Rin beamed back as she took the kitten "Close your eyes!" She said as she went to find a hiding spot.

She eventually found a spot, near the food, "Ok, Iroha! Open!" Rin alerted, as Iroha stood and scanned the area for her plushy. The girl walked around, peeked under the present table and started to panic a little. She walked to the food table and saw the kitty, "Luna!" She cheered, happy to scoop up her plushy. Iroha noticed a small mark on Luna's tail and she panicked, "Ah! She's dirty..." Small tears started forming in the corners of her eyes, her mouth formed into a slight frown, but she hid her face for a second as she quickly cleaned up the plushy and calmed down, she turned back to the twins and smiled, "Haha! I found her!" She beamed, "Yeah! Len's turn!" Rin Replied, pointing to her brother.

Len bounded off with Luna, scanning the surrounding area for any nooks and crannies he could safely place the cat, as he searched around, he noticed a low branch overhanging the fence, maybe 3 meters up from the grass, the boy thought „that seems like a good place to put her!" as he ran toward the base of the tree. He kicked off the ground and started climbing, „are you nearly ready, Len?" Iroha queried, brushing some dirt from his knee, Len answered, „yep yep!! Just a second!"

As Len reached his chosen branch, outstretched from the trunk, he reached out, shimmying along the wooden appendage to place the plushy gently down upon the bark, „there you go, Luna" Len whispered to the plushy, beaming out a smile. He backed up and climbed down the trunk of the tree, „Iroha!! Time to search for Luna!" Len shouted out as he ran toward the girls.

Iroha opened her eyes and sprung up, scanning the surrounding area as she walked around. After a little while, she spotted her beloved plush up in the tree and she bursted out, „Luna!!" with some small panic in her voice, as she started running over the the base of the large tree. She started to climb up the tree, tiny tears welling in her eyes, hands and clothes getting dirty, looking upward at the branch holding Luna. She reached the branch and lifted herself up onto it, wobbling a little, but trying to make sure she stayed steady, and she started shimmying herself across the branch, inching ever closer to Luna.

She pulled herself into reach of the plush, touching it and bringing it towards herself, but from the base of the branch, a sound rang out, clear as day, a loud „CRACK" as the wood started to falter, Iroha Heard this and her heart sank, she sat up to turn around, but her movement made the branch make another sound „CRACK" The small girl panicked, she tried to get off the branch as fast as she could, but her movements cause the branch to rupture yet again.

Iroha fell.

She fell from the high branch, down, directly onto the fence, definitely causing a lot of damage, bruising and bloodying her, battering her small body, but from the fence, she fell down onto the warm, black ashphalt of the road, and, as if the situation couldn't get any worse, a car swerved into the lane because of the falling branch, not seeing Iroha, and the car hit her.

Her small, limp body flew through the air, and landed upon the road, sliding along for a second before the gruesome scene finally made its conclusion. The partygoers screamed, parents covered their children's eyes, and Len stood their speechless, feeling disgusted, appalled, terrified at what he'd done, placing Luna in such a dangerous, stupid way. He fell to his knees, his eyes glazed over, a torrent tears billowing down his face, as he watched the a crowd of adults panicking, checking out the scene for some semblance of hope, calling the ambulance, crying, yelling. He saw some kids crying, and some too young to understand what happened, looking around in a panic. Len stared long and hard at Iroha's bloody, beaten, bruised, and disfigured body, the skin and clothes torn from her skidding across the road, her bones sticking out in certain places, and Luna, a calico cat, white, brown, orange, black, and now stained with Iroha's dark, red blood.

Len couldn't believe what he had done. Rin sat behind him, crying, mumbling about Len, Hide and Seek, and Iroha.

The twins were taken home by their parents, the car was full of complete silence, save for the few stifled sobs from the kids at the loss of their good friend. The family got home, the parents got started making dinner, solemnly chatting as they went on, the twins went to their rooms, through Rin's door, you could hear loud sobbing, and from Len's, save for the lock on his door, silence.

The rest of the night, he never left the room, not for dinner, or anything. Him and Rin didn't go to school for a few days, expectedly, but Len never left his room, he never went for dinner when people were around. The twins' father knocked on the door, pleaded at Len to come out and go to school, he even lost his temper at the boy's silence and yelled and shouted a few times, but after realising he wasn't doing anything he stopped trying.

Rin started going back to school eventually, but Len stayed in isolation. Rin started forgetting how he sounds and looks, wondering how he's grown up without her or anyone.

I was originally gonna write this all as a oneshot, but I thought it'd be better to make the rest in another chapter, so look forward to that! Lol
