Ghosts Of Mortis

Anakin arrived on his speeder to the Well of the dark side. "I've got a bad feeling about this." He thought to himself as he parked the speeder. "Welcome." He heard a voice call out from behind him. "I believe there has been a misunderstanding. We really don't have to be enemies." The Son said. "You murdered your sister! The Force is out of balance. I have to stop you." Anakin replied as he ignited his lightsaber. "Must you?" The Son grinned, then used the Force to pull Anakin's lightsaber to him. "There is no use for such crude implements here. I have a gift for you." He announced. "I have had enough of your trickery!" Anakin shouted. "Oh, but you will like this one. I promise." The Son said as he circled around the Jedi. "What if I could show you the future?" Suddenly, Anakin's head began to ache as horrid visions appeared before him. He looked away, but he could still hear the agonizing screams. "Anakin, please!" "Don't listen to him, Anakin!" "You were my brother, Anakin!"

"NOOO!" Anakin screamed, dropping to his knees. "I will do such terrible things?!" He asked. "Yes. But it doesn't have to be that way. The choice is still yours to make." The Son said. "The future, by it's nature, can be changed. Join me, and together we will destroy this Emperor you see in your visions, and we shall end war, corruption, and suffering throughout the galaxy!" "Will we bring peace?" Anakin asked him. "Of course." The Son said, smiling, as he believed that he had finally corrupted the Chosen One. He handed the lightsaber back to Anakin, who unexpectedly plunged it into his chest. The Son transformed into black smoke and evaporated. Anakin left to report his success to the Father. Shortly after Anakin left, Obi-Wan arrived at the Well and spotted what he thought was Anakin, not knowing that Anakin was already gone. "Anakin, are you alright?" He asked the imposter. "There has been a change of plan." The imposter said before striking Obi-Wan in the head and rendering him unconscious.

The imposter quickly transformed, revealing himself to be the Son, still alive. Meanwhile, Anakin returned to the Father. "It's done. He's dead." Anakin stated. "The Force is still unbalanced. You have not completed your task." The Father responded grimly. "What?!" Anakin said confusedly. The Father looked up towards the darkened sky. "As I told you before, my son can take many forms. I can only assume that he wanted you to believe that he was vanquished, so that he could reconstitute and transfer himself into a new body, as he did to your apprentice." Anakin remembered how the Son had taken control of Ahsoka and forced her to fight him. "That sleemo!" Anakin growled. "I should've known." Anakin jumped back onto his speeder and headed for the Son's cathedral, where he had fought Ahsoka before.

Obi-Wan regained consciousness and activated his comlink. "Ahsoka! Come in, please." He said almost frantically. "Can you hear me? Ahsoka!" Ahsoka put down her tools. "Yes, master? Any success with Anakin?" She asked. "No. Quite the opposite." Obi-Wan replied. "Master, what are you saying?" Ahsoka was beginning to panic. "Anakin has joined with the Son. Do not engage him." He said, unaware that the Son had fooled him into believing that Anakin had turned. "But-" Ahsoka protested, and was quickly interrupted. "Just do as I say!" Obi-Wan shouted back at her. "Listen to me. You have to disable the ship. We have to prevent Anakin and the Son from leaving." Ahsoka took the ship apart, then arrived at the Well to pick up Obi-Wan. Anakin finally arrived at the Son's cathedral and began to climb. All he could think about was the vision that the Son had shown him. Was he really destined to betray his friends?

Anakin arrived at the top of the cathedral, where the Son had manifested himself as a yellow-eyed, darker version of Anakin. Obi-Wan and Ahsoka returned to their ship, hoping to find their friend and save him, only to find that Anakin wasn't there. Back at the cathedral, the Son slowly approached Anakin in his disturbing new form. "This is your last chance to join me." The Son said in Anakin's voice, attempting to intimidate the lone Jedi. Anakin ignited his lightsaber and struck at the Son, who responded by zapping him with an incredible amount of Force lightning. Obi-Wan looked up at the sky as lightning viciously flashed around the cathedral. "That must be where Anakin is!" Obi-Wan deduced. He started to rush over there, then realized that he didn't have the Mortis dagger. "Ahsoka! We need the dagger to kill the Son." I'll go retrieve it. You need to keep Anakin distracted until I return. Ahsoka nodded, then took her speeder to the cathedral.

Once Ahsoka approached the cathedral, she could hear the sound of lightsabers clashing on the roof. She climbed up there and found her master fighting...himself? Anakin and the Son were engaged in a duel, with both of them so intensely focused on each other that they didn't notice her. She lunged at one of them, who turned out to be the real Anakin. "Ahsoka! It's me!" He shouted, right before the Son moved to pounce on the duo. The Son, in Anakin's form, struck at them. They blocked the attack, and the Son stepped backwards, looking at something behind them. Anakin and Ahsoka turned around to see that Obi-Wan had appeared, holding the dagger. "Anakin! Catch!" He shouted as he threw it. Anakin caught the dagger just as the Son charged at him, and he drove into his neck.

Anakin returned to the Father, who looked more forlorn than ever. "I held hope that he could resist the dark side. I see now that there is no going back." The Father said. "Now, I die, my heart broken, but knowing the role you will play. Stay on your path and you will bring balance, but beware your heart." The Father vanished, becoming one with the Force. Mortis collapsed all around the three Jedi, as a white light enveloped them. All of the sudden, Anakin woke up on their ship, with Obi-Wan and Ahsoka still asleep. A hologram of Captain Rex appeared. "General Skywalker, come in." Rex said. "We hear you, Rex." Anakin said, then he paused for a moment. "Sir?" Rex asked, looking at him. Anakin was still thinking about what he saw on Mortis. "It's nothing. We're coming in now." He replied.
