"Fighters incoming!"
The whole base began to shake and tumble with its occupants feeling it beneath their feet. Outside the window where the cold snowy land laid, a few X-Wing ships soared down below where the blasts spat on the large post. General Hux watched as he explored for the incoming fighters. In concern, he turned to face one of his officers.
"Dispatch all squadrons." He commanded. His face gradually drifted into worry and concern but he was certain that his crew would be able to fight off a few of X-Wing fighters.
"Yes, General."
Once more, he took a big glance behind him where continued to eye the large scene of fighters present upon the Starkiller Base. A battle upon their eyes is rising and Mavka hadn't seen much action in a while. All of this was happening too fast. Standing around, she observed the bridge as she walked towards General Hux, wanting to do something.
"General." She called out. He gave her a side-eye still concentrated over the battle in the skies.
"What is it?" He said annoyingly.
"Anything I can do?" Mavka asked. She waited for an answer as she looked at Hux scowling at the wintery panorama.
"Anything? No. There's nothing I could expect—-" Hux paused for a moment before clearing his throat. "Why don't you check the rest of the base? I'll be here and perhaps I acquire eyes from where I do not stand."
Mavka was slightly confused by his phrase and meaning, so she stood there thinking about his request.
"Report back when you can." He said then continued to watch the scene. Mavka slowly backed away from their conversation and heeded his command.
So she left the bridge quickly and began to scatter herself upon the large base. The brief tremors shook the whole place as the battle from above went on. Everything was rising in action.
Mavka races further into the Starkiller Base as she headed towards the Atrium area it was the base's large open-air reservation to the outside. What exactly was Mavka supposed to do? Check if everything was in order? Examine every room? Look for the Resistance and perhaps that scavenger girl? These matters were set for the troopers, not her. But you never know if you end up confined in danger.
The constant shifting from the outside would occur once in a while but, the defenses of the First Order would manage a few X-Wings, the foundation was large.
Before you know it, turning to the next corner she was met with a group of stormtroopers. Leading them was the notorious Kylo Ren in his mask. Mavka froze at the sight of him and made sure she was out of the way. She had expected the group of them to disappear any moment but, they continued to linger nearby.
"You." A dark voice called out. Mavka shot her eyes above where she saw Kylo Ren looking directly at her.
"You are General Hux's assistant." He came closer at ease. Brooding over her like a mass of shadows.
"Yes-"
"Have you seen her?" He asked in immense engagement.
"Seen...?" Mavka answered in confusion.
"The girl. The prisoner."
Mavka blankly gazed at the unknown mass of a face. His mask, his dark clothing. It held a daunting guise, something more than General Hux himself. Hux may pride himself in authority and intimidation, but he had this cowardly aspect, but Mavka wouldn't dare question his judgment.
"No," Mavka replied.
Kylo Ren hastened her not wasting any minute longer without the intent of finding the girl he seemed to be fixated on. Mavka took one glance back where he and his fellow stormtroopers left into the corridors.
Mavka felt her heart sink at the close meeting with the disreputable being with the force and ability to fight with a lightsaber. The type of horror she hardly felt with faced against General Hux. One thought of themself as fear while the other was the embodiment. A harsh exhale escaped her system before continuing down her path of obscurity.
She found herself near the control access point where she entered to see a couple of dead stormtroopers inside. Her eyes glowered at the floor until she met with a control screen shimmering in red. It looked concerning so she traveled closer to the mainframe and realized that the shields were lowered for some reason. Perhaps with some understanding of the controls, she could figure out how to lift the shields. Something about panels and buttons, some sort of switch had to toggle the shields.
Mavka inspected the interface for a while and found something about the shield feature. She entered her authorization and quickly navigated through the computing system.
She stared at the screen for a while until she realized that the system was on lockdown. Pounding on the desk, she pursed her lips in frustration. Could I not do anything beneficial for the First Order? Perhaps she didn't contain the mass knowledge of fully hijacking the processor.
With the belligerence outside, everything and everyone was in deep focus towards the Resistance and all they had to do was fight. Mavka looked at a body of a stormtrooper and promptly grabbed its blaster just in case.
She rushed outside the control point until she reached the oscillator structure. During this moment in the bridge where the high authority commanders and officers were; they waited for the weapon from within the base. It was still charging and yet they couldn't do much but send their squadrons. There wasn't much to know who was winning or what but Mavka knew that the resistance was infiltrating the First Order base in the confines of the near darkness.
Mavka arrived near the railway where she looked left and right to see a bit of stormtrooper roaming the area and most of all; Kylo Ren walks upon a flat bridge that bisects the open space. A scene so compelling; Mavka watches for a moment.
A figure comes out from the darkness and slowly steps towards the inception of the bridge. A concealed individual confronting Kylo Ren. They call out the name; Ben. With those words dropped, Kylo Ren abruptly stops. How much time has passed? Mavka wanted to see how this scene would unfold within the fringes of iniquity. Soon the sun will be sucked dry of its energy and light, its power drained and soon in the grasp of the First Order's influence.
Mavka took one last glance before leaving the oscillator structure. The tremors began to shudder overwhelmingly. Larger than before. It was getting more abrupt within this minute and Mavka couldn't just stay within the shadows without true awareness of what was happening on the exterior. The shields were on lockdown. The control panel was unusable and who knows how much damage the base took.
She quickly hastened through the dark corridors where the lights began to flicker; a destructive environment soon coming to bear from all around as the blasts grew heavier and closer. It was falling apart, it wasn't safe anymore.
So she decided to head back to the bridge.
A warning signals through the dim corridors. The tense situation was growing more uneasy as she was unaware of the weapon's status. A young officer came speeding by her as she gestured to him to stop.
"Tell me. What has happened?" Mavka asked. The young officer was distraught and wearied.
"The Resistance persists. But the weapon will be ready in 3 minutes." He said what he said and immediately left the scene running in the opposite direction.
To what felt like a mile away, a rumbling explosion was perceived from not too far. The oscillator... No time to spare. Mavka had to get away from this area and get to the bridge in time.
Finally, she arrived at the first level and ran to the bridge. The lighting inside was beginning to dim as if nighttime had already arrived and yet so many technicians and officers still lingered to their posts.
Mavka ran inside as Hux noticed her abrupt presence. He instantly traveled to her and waited for a word from her.
"Well?" He said with anticipation.
"Oscillator is split and shields are... unsuited of being toggled." Mavka felt a rush of adrenaline and determination. General Hux turned around and sighed. He wasn't entirely disappointed.
"No matter. Our weapon is ready to be utilized." Hux smirked but that quickly perished as a heavy rumble hit their base. Not faintly but extremely close. It was a growing explosion from all around.
"General! The Oscillator has been disabled! We cannot-" The tremors grew heavy and tons of alarming systems frightened their computing operations. Dark soon fell over them and they no longer had any more power in their grasp. No more weapons. Just the dignity to succumb to death.
Mavka rushed to the window and frowned at the view scanning the whole base from all around them abrupt in fiery explosions. She quickly turned around and did not see General Hux in the room at all. Even when they were losing power, the technicians, officers, and commanders still kept to their posts. Some were beginning to run; it was the moment of panic.
Mavka suddenly grasped an officer's shoulder.
"Where is Hux?" She exclaimed.
But the officer did not respond, he looked all around him and stood from his seat beginning to drift away realizing they were in a severe furor.
Mavka rushed to the exit knowing that her only duty was to get the hell out of there. She headed towards the hangar where most crafts were posted. Hopefully, there were remaining ships on board. She had to find General Hux, it was her responsibility to assist him but there couldn't be any more time to search the grounds. If he was the most valued being in the First Order hopefully he was going to be safely guided out of the planet. He had to be.
Adrenaline parried through her heart, a harsh dryness overcame her throat. Over time she hardly took care of herself and only considered General Hux's needs. Sections of the base of many inside hangars were already gone and damaged and she could think of the leftover crafts posted on the boundary.
She finally reached outside the base where the cold air hit but, her fear rose and the chill was senseless to her body. Rushing onto the surface, the eruptions were quickly coming towards her. Her eyes radiated at the sight of a couple of TIE fighters still lingering on the grounds. Finally, she reached to its door and entered inside the vessel. She hadn't been inside one in such a long time hopefully, her training was intact.
The explosions began to pursue the whole planet and her. Mavka turned on the engine and immediately lifted the vessel off the grounds where the blasts almost hit the tail of the TIE fighter. Her body was heating up from fear and tension and she successfully soared towards the sky, flying directly into space where the planet began to collapse to flaming dust.
