It was December 14th, 2018. 3 months since Rex, Kaz, and Bailey's parents died. Luckily, a nice family named The Don's took them in to take care of the 3 pups. Mark was the first one up in the family. Little did he know, three other pups were up fiddling around. He checked his computer for any emails showing if an artist was looking to make a song so he could produce it. There wasn't any for the day, so he had the day off.

He then made his way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for his family until he heard some barking near him. He made his way to the living room to see the three pups they picked up last night on the streets. Rex looked up and saw Mark walking up to him and quickly hid behind his brother.

"Rex, what are you-", said Kaz as he looked at his brother. Kaz twisted his head towards Mark and was startled by the young dog. He quickly backed up away from the human.

"Whoa, whoa, calm down wait- did you just speak…?" said Mark. "Um... yes, we did. Are you going to take us back on the streets…?" questioned Bailey, looking into Mark's eyes. Mark could tell that these dogs didn't want to go back to where they originally were. Just the way they wolfed the food yesterday seemed like they didn't eat in months. As it pained Mark to let them stay, he resembled sympathy for them.

"Well, I'll tell you three of this," said Mark. The pup's eyes were hooked on the human. "If you guys do well today and cause no problems…. you three can stay for a while," said Mark patting Rex's head.

"REALLY!" said Rex, jumping on Mark and licking his face with excitement. Marked chuckled.

"Ok you three, let's wake the others up shall we?" said Mark as he wiped the slobber off of his face. Rex and Mark walked to the stairs to wake up the others. Bailey was about to walk with them until Kaz pulled her tail again.

"Seriously, this again, Kaz?! What!?" yelled Bailey.

"Did you hear what he said?"

Bailey shook her head in a no response. "He said that we can stay for a little while... So one day we have to go out on the streets again," concluded Kaz. Bailey shook her head in disagreement and agreement at the same time.

"Look, let's just enjoy today and we will see what the future holds for us, ok? God Kaz, we are doing this for Rex's sake, let him enjoy it please," said Bailey, putting a paw on her brother. Kaz shook his head in agreement.

"Good, now let's meet up with the others, they could be waiting.", said Bailey with a smile on her face. Kaz chuckled. "Ok, let's go," said Kaz as he followed his sister.

It's not like Kaz didn't wanna believe what Mark had said to him, he'd do anything to have that same happiness he and his siblings felt months ago. But he was losing hope in 'family' anyway. There's no point in enjoying anything if it's going to be taken from you, eventually. Then again, Bailey was right. This was for Rex's sake. He didn't get the 'family time' he'd been craving since he was born, unlike Kaz and Bailey. So it was his mission to make every part of this family count - even if it meant sacrificing himself.

Rex POV

Is this what having a family feels like again… Huh, it's been so long since I was truly happy. Genuinely, I hope he considers keeping us for good. I can't stand the pain of being hurt anymore. Mentally and physically, I just wanted to give up on life... but I hope this new family gives us a better one, cause if not… I'll be a door knock away from the devil's door.

As we were walking to Mark's room, my head drowned with thoughts. So many thought that even a large pool wouldn't be enough to fill them up. My two main thoughts that ran through my head were that today marks the third month of our parent's passing, which I always thought to myself was my fault for that happening.

While still trapped in my thoughts, I accidentally bumped into my older sister, Bailey. "Oh, sorry, Bailey!," I blurted. She gave a warm-hearted smile. No worries Rex, it was an accident. No need to apologize for it!"

I remember that smile… That same smile that mom possessed passed down to her. It was truly a beauty when she smiled. Kaz and Bailey possessed Mom and Dad's traits so much that every day it just reminds me of them. Even though I remember little time seeing them, Kaz and Bailey gave a vivid description of them both. And even in death, I still see my parents… and I hated it so much…

We then got to Mark's room, which felt like forever. He then walks to his sleeping wife and shakes her gently to wake her up. "Huh... Mark, what's happening?" said Hannah, rubbing her eyes and yawning. She then looks at us and looks back at her husband. "Guess it's morning already, huh?", said Hannah, kissing her husband on the cheek. She then does a morning stretch to start her day and heads to the bathroom. "Let's go, pups", said Mark waving his hand towards the door.

"Why don't you three head downstairs while I go wake up my daughter, Jenny. I'll continue making your breakfast for you all," Mark stated. "Sounds good, let's go, guys," replied Bailey. As we followed her downstairs, my heart opened up a bit to trust these people. After all, they are feeding us and letting us sleep here. But, I don't wanna take any chances.

END OF POV

A/N: I'm sorry for not updating this book for a while. I've been having a lot of new ideas for new stories. I'll try to update this book more frequently, but I don't wanna promise anything. I just wanted to give you guys a little something for my absences. If it wasn't a good chapter, I deeply apologize. I'll do better with consistency. Until next time!
