Chapter 11: The Breakup

Mai POV

It seems that Zuko is in bed at the moment because he has to visit his evil father. I'm planning on leaving Zuko, it's just that he forced me to be Fire Lady. I don't want to deal with Zuko's crazy family, his weird friends, and the politics. Ever since I have become a bride of the Fire Lord, my dad wants me to convince Zuko to recolonize Omashu. I just need to get out of here. I'm going to write a letter to Zuko about we are being done. I find a paper and a brush that has ink on it. I write "Dear Zuko, I'm sorry to say this but I think our relationship will not work out. I'm not cut out to be Fire Lady, I'm done with playing politics and getting manipulated by the court. I just don't care about the same stuff as you do. Maybe you will find someone better than I am. I'm leaving the Fire Nation to find something to care about. From: Mai".

I put the letter right next to his counter. Ironically, I'm breaking up with Zuko with a letter when he had done the same thing when he left the Fire Nation. I left the Palace by walking out and I asked the servants to take me to the Fire Nation sailors.

"It's a pressure to be of your acquaintance Fire Lady Mai. How may I serve thee?" The sailor said.

"I'm not the Fire Lady anymore, here are 100 gold pieces to take me to Kyoshi Island. Just need to spend time with an old friend."I said in an emotionless tone. Maybe a visit to Ty Lee will help me find my callings. The sailor took the 100 gold pieces and proceed to sail the boat to Kyoshi Island.

Zuko POV

I find Mai nowhere in my bedroom and saw a letter on my counter. I read the letter and it turns out Mai left me. She abandoned me when things got tough, I just can't believe it. Man, she was so hypocritical about me breaking up with her with a letter when she has just done the same thing. I punched a hole through these walls. Damnit why does everybody have to leave me? First Uncle left me without guidance, then my friend left me because they have to take care of their homes, and now Mai left because she can't take the responsibilities of being the Fire Lady. I mean I'm just so angry and kind of heartbroken. Why can't I have nice things in life?

"Fire Lord Zuko I have urgent news regarding General Iroh, He has been kidnapped by the infamous Ezionof the Apocalyptic Dragon. I tried contacting King Bumi of Omashu, but he is pretty occupied with trying to have an audience with the Earth King. My name is Maoding of the White Lotus. They are at the city of Zaofu, please you must hurry." Maoding said.

I have no idea of who this Ezion is, but he will not hold Uncle hostage. Is he that strong that he defeated Uncle somehow? This fight could be a lot tougher than Azula. Maoding was kind enough to get me an eel horse. I packed my swords and I got on an eel hound to follow Maoding to the city of Zaoful.
