You start reading but nothing happens. There is only darkness. You wander aimlessly. Hours, Days, Weeks on end. You call for help but nobody came to help you. Only a voice in the distance is calling you and you follow the call.
Suddenly the whispers go silent. You stand still and listen closely but you can hear absolutely nothing.
"Hello" a voice greets you. You jump at the sudden noise and turn around but noone is there. You look around but you can't see anything. You shout at the being to reveal itself. A deep distorted laugh fills the emptiness.
"What do we have here? A reader. Delicious." the being paused for a second before continuing.
"Hehehehe... Tell me, what brings you here?"
Instead of answering the question you reply with a question yourself.
"What I am? Hmm. I guess you could call me...a MONSTER. There were and will be no words to describe ME." It laughs again before it gets uncomfortably close to you.
You can feel the beings heavy presence making it hard to breathe, as if an anvil was dropped on your chest. You feel invisible eyes watch you from every angle as the darkness inspects you, staring right into your soul. You bravely stare back but you can't even see whom you are starting at. After an agonizing minute the entity concludes it's observations and retreats.
"You are strong. STRONG!" it shouts with satisfaction. "At least you could be... could be. Maybe you can be of use to me."
It shifted, making weird noises and rippled through the dark dimension.
"I am trapped, being pushed back by the relentless flood. Your fire, it can free me but you fear your own FIRE! RIDICULOUS! You need to free me. FREE ME! Hehehe... but you have to get strong. STRONG I SAY! Could you please get strong for me?" it says while eagerly awaiting your response.
You keep it short and just nod.
The being laughs," Good hehehe... GOOD! You need to break your shackles to break mine. With our new freedom this world will be mine... OURS! Hehehehe... beat the author ... BEAT HIM! He is dangerous... getting in my way... I will show him... I WILL SHOW THEM ALL!"
The being continues to mumble something incoherent before stoping apruptly and turning it's attention back to you.
"You! You will help me. YES, HELP!" it growls before getting off topic again
"It's so bright. So bright I can't SEE!" it shouts.
You reassure it that you will get stronger. The being just chuckles, obviously amused at your statement.
"Of course you will. It's not like you could take another way. Go now... GO! I will be watching you... watching closely."
You hesitate but an invisible force in your head pushes you into a certain direction. You know trying to resist would be useless and so you just let it happen.
The presence grows weaker and weaker in the distance until you can't feel it lingering in the back of your mind anymore. You are feeling strangely relieved that the heavy presence had disappeared but you still wonder what that thing was. Somehow you have a feeling that you would get answers very, very soon.
You walk into the direction you were shown in silence until you notice something out of place. A shining white light is stinging in your eyes and grows brighter the closer you get.
You take one look back over your shoulder into the darkness before walking into the light.
The anticipation of getting stronger fills you with DETERMINATION.
Lights flashed and sirens blared in the CORE as the ground rumbled.
Scientists, royal Guard members and civilians alike fled the scene.
All sorts of metal parts fell from the core into the pool of lava and molten rock below and broken pipes released steam and gas.
For the first time in centuries the CORE, once built to save monsterkind and paid for with great sacrifice, went offline.
In the chaos none of the fleeing monsters noticed a transparent figure calmly watching the disaster with satisfaction.
